Great pub, discovered by chance on a trip to Norfolk but shall definitely be back. Service and food both excellent.

The Dabbling Duck is a lovely setting the food is well presented and very tasty. Staff friendly. Also stayed there about 3 years ago which was also very good.
Will definitely be back, well worth a visit.

Lovely stop off on our way to Cromer. Great food and lovely atmosphere sat in the barn. Waitress was really friendly.

So we ordered pizza, the bar was set at well… pizza, what we collected is absolute witchcraft… this isn’t pizza this is mouthful after mouthful of pure unmitigated bliss!

Timings were a bit out… booked our slot but no one available at the window so food wasnt overly hot. Picnic pizza on the green for lockdown birthday.

We had fish and chips on our last visit… I know it sounds really basic and traditional but the 'Dabbling Duck twist' ensures everything on the plate is mouth wateringly tasty and the various flavours go together really well, fantastic chefs and kitchen team who are all unsung heros! Highly recommended and we will be back, Thank you all.

This is my second stay at The Dabbling Duck — good food and atmosphere, room very comfortable.

Have just spent the weekend at the Dabbling Duck celebrating my 50th birthday and had such a lovely time. Rooms were lovely, food amazing especially the Sunday lunch today, gravy to die for! The staff were very helpful, and we will definitely be back. Thank you Dabbling Duck x.

We had such a lovely friendly experience, the food atmosphere has been lovely, celebrating my daughters birthday having a pre birthday meal.

I have now stayed 3 times at The Dabbling Duck most recently in their lovely Duckling Cottage. The accommodation was fantastic we had a fun girls weekend. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, breakfast was delicious and so to was the freshly made pizza! Looking forward to my next stay in December.

Went to the mussel festival tonight, fantastic food, disappointing choc ice-cream (had to add baileys! ). Always love the festival but not the same atmosphere tonight with the shanty men in ‘the barn’ I know it’s a squash in the bar but kinda normally adds to the eve.

Just had the yummiest, huge est, pot of mussels. Sooo yummy. Great atmosphere.

Came for lunch with a friend today. Decided to have the rump steak. I was not disappointed as it was tender and perfectly cooked. I would definitely visit again and would recommend to others.

Lovely dog friendly pub in a beautiful village setting. Visiting from Gloucestershire, this was our second time at the Dabbling Duck and we were not disappointed — their roast beef Sunday dinner was delicious… must make use of their B&B facilities next time!

Fabulous food, lovely setting and excellent staff. Dog friendly, there's even a three course menu for the pooch's! Thankyou for a lovely couple of afternoons spent there.

I went for the fish, chips and peas. Couldn't fault the fish, it was white, moist and tasty with a thin crispy beer batter. The chips were no more than soggy thick potato peelings cooked in dripping accompanied with split yellow peas which were hard and the taste was overridden by a hot sauce.

Good food. Good choice of drinks. Nice village pub with a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend.

Excellent place to stay, Restaurant good quality meals with varied menu, likewise for breakfast, also pizza oven in garden with other street food served. Rooms very comfortable and clean.

My husband and I had afternoon tea with a voucher we received as a gift. The sandwiches arrived like something I would serve to a hungry builder. They were nothing like the dainty finger sandwiches I was expecting. They were about an inch thick cut from a bloomer loaf and not even cut in half! The filling was very nice though. The cakes were presented well although a bit stodgy apart from the scone that was excellent. Staff were very polite and friendly. I am sure had we had a meal there we wouldn't have gone home hungry!

One of our favourite places. The food is always at a high standard. The Eggs Benedict are worth the visit alone. This time we also had the Full English which comes with homemade baked beans, Heinz has nothing on these. However the full English didn't come with a sausage. The Dabbling Duck does have a bad point, it's to far away to enjoy every week. There is an on line booking system and maps for local walks are available.

Not bad. Great desert and soup was delicious and bread was tasty. Playground for kids… outdoor seating and fairly big restaurant. Went on a saturday so haven't been present for sunday roast.

Nice pub but, Fish and Chips today, lovely fish and chips but I declined the Curried Scraps that go with it, no alternative offered when explained I don't like curry. Meal arrives, even the bloody Peas are curried, would I perhaps enjoy curried peas given I DONT LIKE CURRY? Fish and Chips lovely meal spoilt by, basically curry with everything. Very disappointed.

Very cosy and comfortable atmosphere. Even greater food, some unusual dishes worth trying. Helpful and tentative staff add to the ambiance. Would not hesitate to go again.

Really interesting food. Some classics but also some nice new things to try. The desserts are amazing. Lovely garden and plenty of room inside too. Would be tempted to stay overnight as it looks really lovely.

Friendly service and glorious beer garden with childrens play area. Didn't have food on this visit, but have had in the past and it was excellent. The pub is set on the green of what must be one of the most beautiful villages in Norfolk.

Have been visiting the Dabbling Duck on and off for years, and even came to one of their first wedding receptions. Great place, great vibe, great food and great drink. Never had the pleasure of staying, but my parents have and they had very positive things to say.

What a fabulous find. Food is excellent, a very busy pub, with a great ambience and very friendly staff. Nice menu with a decent choice. Not too much on the menu so you know it is freshly prepared. Great place!

Lovely large quintessential English pub. Excellent burger, local beers & spot on service. Village green and duck pond too.

Fantastic place. We couldn’t fault it in anyway. The pub, food, ambience and staff were all top class. Our dog was made very welcome and they even had a dog menu! The food was too die for. Would 100% recommend. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience and would definitely go back there again and stay longer next time.

Another gastro pub, the county is full of them! Having said that I like it to an extent, it's the clientele I am not so keen on, however if you belong to the clean range rover set or live in Chelsea all week you will love it.

Nice pub, love the books. Wine is a touch pricey but lovely garden and pizza oven for takeout!

Wonderful place. Great decor lovely people and FABULOUS food! The breakfast was next to none I've never had anything like. The bed was so comfortable and the ensuite was beautiful, lovely big shower and fantastic molton brown products! I highly recommend the Rogan josh vegetable curry very nice indeed!

We attended the Dabbling Duck as a Christmas treat from our daughter. The 3 of us stayed in the garden rooms overnight and had dinner. The accommodation was first rate. Clean, warm, plenty of space and lots of attention to detail with beautiful decor. We had a superb 3-course meal with excellent service and a most delicious breakfast the following morning with a great and varied choice. Such an enjoyable start to our Christmas celebrations and we would certainly re-visit (hopefully in the not too distant future). Many thanks to all at the Dabbling Duck.

I just held my 40th birthday here on Friday, the chef planned a wonderful 3 course menu taking in a vegan option (was delicious) they happily added an extra person at a couple of days notice, the food all came out hot and together (there were 16 of us) the bill was reasonable, the table looked lovely, the staff were really sweet when bombarded with questions about what certain things were. The chef added a burger to my menu due to me having a couple of fussy friends. 6 of my family members travelled from Glasgow and Preston for the night and stayed there for the night, they loved the rooms and the added homemade vodka! Thankyou so much for making my birthday!

Excellent fish, noodles and miso broth dish for lunch today. Warming and filling on a chilly day. Shall call again.

Friendly helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. One of our favourite places to eat, have a drink, coffee by the fire. A Lovely area too for walking.

Only visited once so far but will be going again when next in the area — food exceptionally high standard — very impressed …

Just enjoyed a lovely meal and stay here. Everybody made us feel so welcome. Enjoyed a cup of tea on our arrival in the cosy bar before being shown to our Garden Room which was just lovely. Had a very enjoyable evening meal, the menu was interesting, a steak cooked as requested and the game sausage dish from the specials board so tasty. The carrot cake pudding dish was delicious and quirky with the carrot ice cream — just wished I’d had room to finish it all! A comfortable night and an extensive breakfast menu to choose from the following morning finished off a really enjoyable stay, where nothing was too much trouble. Thank you, we hope to come back to see you again.

The wife & I popped into the Dabbling Duck for a meal on Saturday evening. I think you would call it a 'Gastro Pub', the staff were courteous & friendly, and the decor warm & comfortable. We had a gorgeous meal, when it arrived the food was amazing & extremely tasty. My only criticism was that there was a mix-up when taking my order. I asked for the venison haunch but I believe there was a venison kofta on the specials menu which is what I was brought by accident. It was remedied very quickly & the staff very apologetic but it did mean that after a little wait my wife had practically finished her meal before I started mine which isn't ideal, especially as we were out for our 1st anniversary. That being said, the venison haunch was very tasty. Would definitely recommend to friends & family.

Really nice roast dinner on the Sunday. Great coffee. Nice selection of beers and ales. For the 5th star they need to upgrade the toilets.

Everything was really nice, nice room, lovely staff, nice smelliest in the room. Loved the added touch of the homemade vodka, and breakfast was presented beautifully. We thought the choice on the evening menu could have been larger, but the food we had was delicious.

Superb gastro pub. Had the fortune to fly into great Massingham airstrip then amble over to the pub. Really interesting menu presented at sensible prices by lovely staff. The only downside is how far it is from home. That said it may push me to try their accommodation.

Not impressed with attitude of the management. Certain dietary requirements meant we were obviously a nuisance and not being regulars meant below average customer service. Only reason I marked this a 3 star and not a 2 was because the steak were cooked beautifully and the size salads very flavoursome.

Flew into Great Massingham airfield from Essex especially for a stop here. Excellent food, welcoming staff and lots of difficult decisions to make on the specials board. Will be back.

Fantastic pub, largest stockist of gins in Norfolk! Has its own pizza oven, great food and Sunday lunch is a must book occasion.

Beautiful food, the only reason I couldn't finish my burger was that I was completely full. Staff couldn't have done more or been more helpful. My only criticism would be that the encyclopaedia Britannica collection was not on the shelf in order and did nothing for my OCD!

Turned up for a champagne tea but couldnt stay as the place stank and was dirty dont be deceived by photos needs to be reviewed and truthful web page set up.

Great place to stay on route to neighbouring places. The evening meal was really nice, bed and breakfast accommodation was also top.

Lovely little pub with accommodation in a quaint little village. Set alongside one of the village's 4 ponds, the pub is what's termed a gastropub. Good food and not over the top prices, friendly, helpful staff, good atmosphere. Decent beer and a wide range of gins on offer. It's an old building so be prepared for steep stairs if you're staying in the rooms.

Only one veggie starter and one veggie main. No veggie Sunday roast. But food was gorgeous and loved the decor and atmosphere.

This place is the works! My wife and I have been here three times in the past week — each time absolute perfection! The food is quite simply stunning and the ambience relaxed and friendly. I do not see how anyone could question the quality of the cooking as it is second to none and the staff, particularly the delightful Nikita, are so friendly and helpful. The pub itself is a lovely old building and suitably furnished to provide a timeless atmosphere. Full marks and very many thanks all round!

My husband and I ate here in October 2016, and have fantasised about coming back because the food was excellent, not only cooked to perfection, but so cleverly assembled, in fact a work of art. We could have placed it on a shelf as a beautiful sculpture. So, as we are staying in North Creake again in 2017, we went back and are delighted to report that it's just as good this time. So all praise to the chef and the very warm hearted staff, we will be back in October!

Good selection of real ale, wine and Gin. Food is well presented and freshly prepared. Nice beer garden, plenty of parking in the rear of the pub. To summarise, a very nice place to visit when in the area.

Stayed night after a day at Fakenham races booked bed breakfast and dinner. Really enjoyed our stay good beer in the bar and excellent food and service in the restaurant.

Had an excellent meal a couple of weeks ago. Wonderful setting, lovely staff and the best meal I have had in a long time. Plan to return very soon.

Posted 15/6/13 I live about 9 miles from the Dabbling Duck & would certainly go back for another meal. The pub looks very small from the outside but opens up inside to a very warm, friendly & unusually quirky pub with about the best bar top I have ever seen. When we got there around 6.30pm it was quite & easy to get served with about 10 people in the pub. 2 beers & a medium size wine priced at £10.50 per round. All of us had home made burgers & chips. Although a little expensive at £12 per meal the quality was very good with a rich smoky flavour to the burgers & a side potion of caramelized onions & not so home made coleslaw. We left about an hour later & the pub was nearly full with dinners. I think we was lucky on arriving early as I think you would have to book for a latter meal.

We stayed a night at The Dabbling Duck and will definitely be returning. It's bursting with character and we found the staff to be lovely and friendly. Our room was clean with lovely views of the green and the church. The food was out of this world! We eat out a lot and would give our meal 10/10, beautifully presented, tasted delicious and arrived in minutes. Fantastic.
