Had an amazing lunch there today, the Ploughman’s lunch was fantastic and the Camembert and bread, definitely worth a visit when going to Symonds Yat.

A quiet place where the world is still in order. A place to stay for nature lovers. The staff is absolutely friendly, helpful and very eager to help. The food is great and the rooms are lovingly decorated. Here we come back👍

A fantastic few days at the The Saracens Head Inn — Symonds Yat. Our room (upstairs in the Boathouse) was perfect to relax in after a days walking, the food and drink was great and the staff were friendly and attentive.

Very nice Inn, fantastic spot on the Wye. We only had a snack, service was quick. Very nice Wye valley beer.

Nice food, good selection, nice location by the river.

Only options for lunch under £10 were starters or chips. We’ve tried to get chips here twice unsuccessfully 😢 lovely location but won’t be coming back.

Amazing Sunday Roast, great atmosphere with attentive staff. Portions were plentiful & more vegetables if needed. Just the job after a long walk from the forest of dean.

We had a fantastic stay here early Nov before lockdown.
We stayed in the coach house, it was stunning and very comfortable. The food in the pub is amazing and the breakfast is lush.

A fantastic two nights stay here. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food delicious. A beautiful place to stay and very clean. The breakfast menu had a great choice and all presented beautifully. Would highly recommend eating, drinking and staying here.

Though the staff may have changed over the years, the standard of service has always been exemplary.

Have just come back from an overnight stay here with friends. It is a lovely place to stay. Friendly staff, lovely ambience, stayed in newly refurbished rooms overlooking the river. It’s an old favourite of mine in great position right near the river. With great food, friendly staff. Ticks all the box’s to make it the perfect place to start or finish your walk.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch with friends, food was superb and a lovely atmosphere with very friends staff. Before an autumnal dog work along the river. Perfect.

Poor quality food at a high price. Had a sandwich which, the bread was old, the salad lacked style — salad leaves with large chunks of red onion a whole cherry tomato and too much dressing. Had a drink of coke which was definitely cheap syrup with little resemblance to the taste of the real thing. Position of pub in the scenic symonds yet is the only positive.

Great pub, with good quality food. Inside and outside seating available. Outside was very busy as it was a nice day. Would highly recommend.

I have never had a bad experience here. Plenty of helpful staff, even at busy times, who are part of a slick operation. Beer great, food varied and great, view… well you can find out yourself!

Very nice pub to stop for lunch or a pint. We walked from our campsite with the dog and were made very welcome. Lovely food and a nice pint. And nice views of the river from outside.

Very helpful and polite staff, covered bar and tables with efficiency mixing duties. Rooms are comfy and spacious with most equipment working fully, couple of lights needed attention but not detrimental. Fantastic location with ample parking. Food and service were impressive. Had a very enjoyable stay.

Went for a pub lunch mid hike last week and stopped here. Lots of seating outside as well as inside. Even though they were clearly extremely busy the food was served within a reasonable time and it was extremely fresh and such good quality! It was one of the nicest pub launched I have had In a while. I also left my bag at the table with my phone, purse and car keys in it but by the time I had realised (an hour later! ) my bag had been safely tucked behind the bar and I was reunited with all items fully accounted for. I would highly recommend.

Great food. Great customer service. Great location. One of the members of the party is vegan — although didn’t have a vegan option on the menu, the Saracens head inn chef saw this as no problem and produced a great dish. He also didn’t just have one option he made from scratch. 10/10. Definately would return. go to this place — you will not be disapointed.

A busy pub on the riverside at Symonds Yat West. There is a ferry to take you across the river which is run by the pub. Plenty of outside areas to enjoy a drink and food. Similarly there room indoors too. A nice pub in a nice setting but expect it to be busy, especially in the holiday periods when the weather's fine.

Nice pub in lovely surroundings but I'm getting a bit peeved off by the random times pubs in general decide to serve food in the UK. It's like you have to adjust your eating habits by the clock in the pubs. Otherwise tough mate. Of course I wanted food at an unorthodox time so I had to bugger off and go to Tesco and buy my own.

Fantastic food, great choice of beer and cider including a cherry scrumpy on draught. I had the Saracens special steak sandwich and it was amazing, my other half had fish and chips and said they were very good with a big portion of fish. The setting is beautiful with plenty of seating outside overlooking the river. Will definitely go again.

Gorgeous location. Bought a pint on a nice sunny day and sat outside. Quick service, price was not bad and good range of local and classic ales, lagers and cider to choose from.

We visited the Saracens head in for our anniversary and ate in the restaurant. The inn was homely and comfortable and the service was great! The food was impressive to look at and equally as tasty, the staff were informative and attentive. My husband and I had a lovely meal and would definitely visit again!

We booked this on our anniversary, and ate in the restaurant area, which was very homely, comfy and with some amazing views of the river. The service was amazing and friendly, the waiter was very informative and happy to help. The menu sounded a bit posh for my tastes but when my food came it was so tasty that I couldn't get enough. The food is amazing and not only does it taste amazing it looked amazing too. An amazing place for food. Highly recommended.

Had a great family meal for my mum's birthday. The food was gorgeous, I was particularly impressed with the vegan option. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, especially with my toddler. Can't recommend enough!

Really nice little pub / restaurant. Probably had the best lamb in my life. If the shoulder of lamb is on the menu I highly recommend.

This pub is one of the nicest in the Forest of Dean without a doubt! Perfect location, and feels very secluded. In summer it is lovely to sit by the river, and the food is great and well priced. It is quite hard to get to as it is in the middle of the woods, but well worth the drive. We were staying nearby, and apparently its a must-visit. As the sun sets, you can also see the lights of the little houses set into the side of the cliffs on the opposite side of the river too! Will definitely come back next time we're nearby.

I bow to the excellence of this place. Out of the way with plenty of parking. The pub was warm, friendly and had a great, relaxed atmosphere. The staff were welcoming, knew their stuff and had an excellent selection of beers, ciders and gins. The menu was perfectly pitched with few options, but covered a good selection, so no need to dither on too much choice. The food… Oh my god, the food was exceptional. Not a massive quantity, but filling, hot and so, so tasty, astonishingly so. The staff knew all the menu, preperation and took on my allergies with ease and empathy. Not cheap. But good food and service shouldn't be. Well done guys, would give you 6 stars of I could. Highly recommend. In fact, I'd happily drive the hour and half from home for a meal here.

Such a shame! Fine dining at its poorest Im afraid. A disappointing start when presented with the menu due to its limited choices but happily picked the fish. The fish was fresh but was bland and lay solemnly on a bed of mash which was very salty and could of been mistaken for Smash. The portion sizes were very small so please dont come here if feeling hungry. On the positive side it's January and even the thinnest of us could do with losing a few pound after the festive season. Heavy on the wallet and hungry on the belly.

This is my third visit to the Saracens Head, which has become a required stop every time we holiday in the Forest of Dean. We were in a party of six and had a short wait for a table in the bar area, as we had two dogs with us too, but we hadn't booked ahead so that's our own fault. Food wise the meals were excellent as ever, cooked and presented well. Unfortunately our favourite dessert (Bailey's cheesecake) wasn't on the menu this time, so we gave it a miss. The staff were very attentive, and interacted with the children and the dogs, which definitely scored bonus points :-) There is a great view of the river from the bar, and a woodland path to the left which can help you to walk off your lunch! Overall, very pleasant experience once again, and we'll be back next year.

One of the finest pubs in the uk. Great ale, spectacular views of interesting ducks and the most gorgeous of gorges. The ploughmans is a work of art. Nightly reccomended.

Nice pub with good food. It's right on the riverside so on a nice day it's beautiful to sit outside and soak up the atmosphere. The only negative is that the kitchen is slow so you may have to wait a long time for your food.

Winter or Summer this is a regular lunch stop for us on our Wye Valley walks. Always an interesting range of food on the menu, excellent beers and friendly staff. Here's a pic of a little Autumn colour — a nice pint of Wye Valley HPA!

Excellent Inn on the river Wye. Own ferry for crossing the river. Wonderful food and huge choice of well kept local ales and ciders. Bedrooms are superb, especially the superior river-view rooms. Breakfast also sublime. Highly recommended.

Nearby car parks but they get full so arrive early. Great selection of beers and ciders. They made a great crayfish sandwich and could sit in the sun by the river. Lovely!

Nice place for dinner by the river, but you have to book unless you're staying here. I had a beautifully cooked scallop and cauliflower starter. Extremely generous portions — be warned!

An inn with a superb down to earth restaurant, that offers a menu of very good food. With a beautiful setting alongside the picturesque River Wye what more could anyone want? It is wise to book a table for this bustling hostelry.

This place is a real gem. Brilliant location in the middle of Symonds Yat and a nice traditional English Inn building. The food was excellent, with locally sourced ingredients and a twist on your traditional pub grub. There were a large selection of beers on offer, and everything was reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone with a couple of hours to spend or looking for some good food in the area.

Dropped in for a few drinks. Beautiful location and a ferry is available for a small fee on request. Good range of ales and food looked superb (although we didn't eat) but everything was on the pricey side but on holiday so didn't care too much. Recommended!

Very busy on a bank holiday as this is a popular pub with the local campers. Beautiful views and really good food. Great place to start and finish a walk in the beautiful Forest of Dean. Apparently there is wild bore and secret caves to find… we found the caves!

The service is always great here, along with the views of the river. We stop here on our way back from Wales everytime. The little one likes to try and catch fish with a net. It has a great atmosphere it's nearly always busy and there are boat tours you can do along with riding the rapids or just kayaking.

Excellent food: would recommend the pork! And the staff are really friendly (put ice in tap water). They also kept serving food after hours because our grandparents were stuck in traffic! Would recommend 10/10.

Had a thoroughly delicious evening meal here with my girlfriend, food was spectacular and it had is both speechless for a few moments. Superb experience all round and thank you to the staff for making is feel so welcome.
