Great food, great location however hotel needs attention and customer service needs improving.

Place very disappointing not clean, no mattress protector bed had not been changed floor not hovered bits all over. Stains on mattress, Other couples had to change rooms to. Would not recommend to anyone. Terrible.

Excellent value for money. Staff are friendly professional and obliging. Beautiful location first class breakfast.

The four stars is an acknowledgement that it is in the middle of refurbishment but if it was based on staff alone I'd want to give it a 6. It's location is stunning and handy for some great walking and attractions. Food was very nice. Breakfast was a cooked breakfast buffet but done really well. The eggs were better than I've had other places apparently cooked fresh. The car park and surrounding area late steep and hilly so may be an issue if you are not very mobile. The room was comfortable and the bed was very comfortable. Had the best night's sleep I have ever had in a hotel.

Room stunk of urine radiating from the toilet that had not been cleaned properly in and around. Room very basic and very tired, bed lumpy.

The hotel is in development and looking to be refurbished. However, rooms were clean enough, staff were excellent and the location superb. I recommend it if you visit the beautiful Wye Valley. It is right opposite Symonds Yat.

We had a good time at the Paddocks hotel. Staff friendly and obliging. Bedroom was lovely with a king size bed, one criticism the bath should have a bath mat for use of the shower. Food was good and the waiter service couldn't be faulted. We would go again.

"The Recency Ballroom " with a large sprung dance floor is one of the best in the Country and is a popular venue for Dance Clubs. The food is of a very good standard and the hotel are able to cater for large parties. The accommodation is satisfactory and recently updated. Bedrooms are smallish with ensuite clean & warm. The Staff all exceptional and very warm with guests.

Lovely, clean room with a nice view over the river. Hotel very well kept and very friendly staff, looking forward to returning.

Stayed at this lovely hotel for one night, upon arrival there was no hot water and had to wait several hours to get hot water, it was snowing pretty hard which made the scenery beautiful. The gentleman at reception very nice and helpful, room was freezing and he moved us to another room, food on the other hand was amazing, the peppercorn sauce was homemade and very nice, can't fault it the chef is brilliant and a real credit, the downside was that it was very quiet (probably due to the snow) and the lights went off at 11:30 leaving it pitch black, would I go back? Yes.

Not a bad place to stay. But some refinement like constant hot water required.

Had a very comfortable stay in the Paddocks Hotel, nice clean rooms, large bathroom and hard working and professional helpful staff. The meals were delicious and plentiful, although they did take a couple of dishes off the menu when we were there. Book a table relatively early if I were you. I would definitely recommend this hotel love to stay there again.

After reading the reviews was expecting the worse but had a great stay. The hotel is in a lovely location and some people say it is dated I thought it was great added to the character of the place. Staff was very helpful and hardworking. We had both our breakfast and dinner there. Breakfast was hot buffet and was very good. Dinner there was a good choice but advise to go early as they soon run out of popular options. Would definitely go again.

Lovely staff. Lovely room with views of garden. Very good food. Nice clean hotel. Would happily recommend it.

Clean and comfortable rooms. The restaurant is small and the menu without a lot of variety. The breakfast only until 11am. No many vegetarian options. The conservatory is gorgeous looking to the garden. Beautiful being there.

Worst stay ever. Old carpets, wallpapers coming off, squicky floors, unprofessional careless staff. Walls like paper, can hear everything — for two joght we couldn't sleep. Staff wouldn't care. Upon arrival no information, not a simple greeting. The room stunk of sewerage, staff told to cope with it. Avoid.

Terrible customer service. Dated smelly rooms, badly trained irresponsible staff. Staff keeping us up all night while partying in the room above. When asked for the manager to contact us to tell him about the situation we did not receive a phone call or email yet. Could be a great hotel but unfortunately it's been run into the ground.

Lovely staff, superb location with fantastic garden, great food and nicely furnished rooms. The hotel is currently being refurbished and I can see why as it is a bit outdated but it deserves to be busier. We'd certainly return.

The staff is amazing! The hotel needs updating but everyone who works here has committed to Herculean efforts to make sure our stay in Ross on Wye is amazing! Pillows, taxis, and special treatment is the service we received. Thank you!

Just returned from a 2 night stay which I booked through Groupon. The hotel needs a lot of work it's looking tired and needs updating, although our room was extremely light and clean with comfy beds. The staff were very friendly but unfortunately the food let them down badly, breakfast was fine although a big disorganised good food served but evening meal was awful. The first night we had fish and chips, the chipa were big and soft although it stated they were 3 times cooked. The following night we chose a burger which was very chewy and pretty tasteless. I am sorry to be writing this as we did really enjoy our break but I'm hoping it will help in some way as the staff deserve better than to serve cusomers with such food. I wish them all the best in their hotel if they make a few changes I'm sure they will succeed.

I stayed here en-route to a job in South Wales. I had a very peaceful night and a decent breakfast. The staff were helpful. The place is, however slightly dated.

This is the best groupon deal I have ever had. The owners were most obliging and their little girl adorable. They have only recently taken over and slowly building up their business. We have been in larger rooms but all was very clean and fresh. The menu had enough variety for what we wanted to eat and it was very tasty. Some of the desserts had run out although it was quite early in the evening. There was no complaints from us as we paid £49 bed / breakfast, evening meal with a glass of wine for two! Breakfast had no frills but all was nicely cooked and tasty. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. The garden was beautiful and the hotel very close to the river for canooists. We will return. They also have a 5 star rating for hygiene and is renowned for its dance nights. There was a party of twenty there dancing the night away.

Under new management and they were trying really hard but there's room for improvement ie they need more staff. The one lady seemed to be doing it all — receptionist waiting on tables clearing away topping the food up at bfast time etc. Consequently you were queuing or waiting for service.
