Went for a meal here whilst on a short break to FOD. Had to try the wild boar sausages, what a disappointment. There was no taste to the meat all I could taste were herbs & spices. The chips were dry & probably been stood on a hotplate for ages. Wouldn't go again.

Top quality 4 poster suites the size of an apartment, excellent quality food and really nice staff. Highly recommended.

The Sunday lunch was beautiful. We eat in a few places that serve food of a similar high standard but its usually the service that let's it down. Not the case here, service was absolutely second to none. Somebody is obviously driving that forward and has a keen eye on maintaining very high standards with the service staff. Unfortunately, its not something you don't see too much of these days. Thanks guys, we'll be back very soon.

To be honest, if you’re looking for a fancy place that’s a bit materialistic, then it’s probably not for you. If not, then you’ll appreciate what is great about this place, a very welcoming friendly, quiet place and lovely polite staff. A perfect get away for a few days. Rooms are a little smaller than what I’m used to but clean and practical. I will definitely be returning for long wk/ends in the future. The walks are fantastic and the views from Symonds Rock breath taking.

Just returned from a 2 day stay here. Suite was amazing perfect for 2. Food fab good value food and drink. Staff helpful and friendly. Had breakfast in room really good. Will be returning.

Just spent the most amazing weekend at the Old court hotel. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Our room was comfortable and even had a balcony, although weather didn’t allow us to enjoy it! The food was amazing loved the fact that they locally source their produce as well. The surrounding area is great for walks and is only a short drive from several popular attractions. We will definitely be returning and would recommend a stay here to anyone wanting to escape the normal hustle and bustle of every day life!

This hotel made us and our giant Great Dane perfectly at home.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The staff are so friendly and helpful and the owner was very accommodating and helpful.
We stayed in the converted barn and it took me back to my childhood days with the open fire.
Food is tops, can’t really fault it.
Location is beautiful with so many walks and scenery to enjoy.
Definitely revisit.

We stayed two nights, the staff especially Jenna and the owner Tori were great. They clearly love their jobs and know the area well, giving us great advice. Food was gorgeous too.

Went with my fiancee and our frenchbulldog for our 4 year anniversary. Everything about this place was amazing, staff, room and food! Our room had so much character (four poster bed room with large old fireplace! ) The staff were amazing with our dog too, she couldn't have hoped for more attention.

We stayed two nights here mid Sept 2020 and had a great stay. Can't fault the staff at all, we were very well looked after by the owners and their team. Even the very young staff were most polite and helpful — nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in two different rooms and they were both lovely. Willam was above the bar, so you could hear a bit of noise below, but this all quietened down by 11. The view of the garden was beautiful and the four poster made it extra special. Our second night we were in the Diarist at the back of the hotel and this was quieter with a lovely view of the back garden and hills behind. After a long day of kayaking, we were relieved to have a bath and the bathroom itself was lovely — seemed quite newly done. The room itself was lovely and cosy with a massive bed. We ate in the hotel both evenings, as we really liked the menus… just our sort of thing — yummy pub grub done a little bit special or with a twist. Menu was possibly even a bit too big, lots of choice! Again waiting staff were very attentive and helpful. I loved the history and quirkyness of the hotel, as this made it a bit different and special. Well done to the owners and their team for making all the covid adjustments too — it all felt very safe and sensible. Hope you manage to ride out the covid storm and stay in business for years to come! I would definitely recommend staying here, thank you!

Stopped off for lunch. Really well organised for covid-19, use PayPal on their website to order our food and drinks. Fast friendly service with fantastic food in glorious garden. Even offered a bowl of water for the dog but we had our own. Definitely recommend.

Lovely drink except the foul mouth 10 year old on the swings talking about all things disgusting! Absolutely horrifying however the staff were quick to sort it out even though the parents didn't. Thank you to the staff you were all very helpful and nice, we would definitely come again.

All of it but balconies need refurb. Food drink staff and gardens were great. Would definitely stay there again.

We visited for drinks in the garden, and wanted to eat. We arrived at 6:30 and placed our order at the bar by 7:10. Our food didn't arrive until 9:15 despite asking several times for it to be chased. The waiter that dealt with us was very ride and defensive disputing a 10 minute window. (We said we'd been waiting 2 hours, he argued it was only 1h50m) he also wanted to prove us wrong by saying he had the ticket to show us. Despite this 10 mins window he wanted to argue, he said the wait was an hour when we placed our order. We were told 45 mins at the bar when we ordered, so we told him, and he said well it "well it went up after" We let him know no-one told us which wasn't acceptable and either way 1 hour wait he was claiming wasn't how long we waited anyway… When the food eventually arrived, our mixed grills were missing the grilled chicken. I let a waitress know and she brought out a boiled chicken breast which had been microwaved warm again.

Inside or out really good setting and surrounds. The food is spot on with good service throughout. The bar area does getting busy with taking orders though, but the local beer6and ciders more than make up for it.

Had a first class ploughman's lunch here the cheese was good and mature and the ham thick cut off the bone the salad was definitely not boring with slices of apple and pickles. The bread was thick cut and soft enjoyed with a glass of rose wine.

Friendly and helpful staff. Nothing vegan on the menu but the staff went out of their way to offer us a choice of vegan dishes. Good range of local ciders and ales. Lovely place.

Very disappointing. The food was nice but extremely overpriced for the portion size, particularly the Ploughman’s. There was a stone in my mum’s food, no one bothered to come to see us about it. When I went to speak to the Manager she apologised but basically said it was out of their control as they must have been poor quality potatoes because of the weather!

Nice venue and setting, we went for a pre-booked meal scheduled for 12.30 where we had to pre-order our meals. There was a mix up a few days before regarding the time of the booking where we had booked for 1.30 months in advance but we were then told that it wasn't available a few days before, after a little back and forth they agreed to compensate us with 2 bottles of wine as an apology if we would do the 12.30 booking, I only mention this because we arrived at 12.30 but didn't get our food until 1.15 which is funny after they forced us to come an hour earlier. My brother when ordering the food via email months in advance, had somehow not ordered anything for his 2 year old son, the staff very quickly knocked up a tomato pasta for him on request which is his favourite food, so that was fantastic of them to do that and avoid an upset/hungry toddler. I had a build my own burger (steak, cheese and bacon) which was nice enough but didn't blow me away, perfectly passable though. The feedback from most of the table who mainly had a cooked dinner was that the roast potatoes appeared to be from frozen like aunt Bessie's, and the veg, on sharing plates throughout the table, was not enough for the amount of meals. Overall the place was nice enough and most of the staff were friendly. I wouldn't be in a rush to come back as it wasn't super cheap and the issue with the booking was slightly annoying, but in no way is this a bad place.

Lovely building and grounds, the children loved playing here. Food has been variable in quality from excellent to mediocre on our visit May bank holiday. We will give it another chance in the future without expectations set too high.

Never have I walked into an establishment, ready to spend money, and been treated with such contempt. We were a group of 13 or so, including a child. We hadn’t booked, it was not even midday and weren’t planning on staying long. On arrival we were put into the ‘function room’ at the back of the building, away from the main bar (read: the holding area — zero ambiance). When we moved to the main bar to take over two/3 tables we were told we had to order ‘real food’ if we wanted to sit there, and not just drinks/desserts (which we were intending to do anyway). We were also told we were interrupting their ‘busy period’ for Sunday lunches (we were practically the only ones in the building at this point — there was a thunder storm outside, the rush of people never materialised…). We were then told the child in our group could not sit in the room with us because of the listed windows. The waiting staff (and owners at the bar) said all the right things, but with the most disrespectful, dour tone of voice you could imagine. ‘Could I get a coffee please? ’ ‘… are you ordering food too? ’ The worst service I have ever experienced. Half our group left to go elsewhere. Avoid avoid avoid. If I could give this establishment zero stars I would, unfortunately Google won’t allow that.

One of the rudest examples of customer service I have ever witnessed. A large group of 14 people would have been welcomed by any pub, but at the Old Court Hotel we were an inconvenience. Other than the fact the wait staff were rude, there was one woman, perhaps the manager, who made sure that we felt like we shouldn’t be there. She sat us in a cold, silent and empty function room. She got orders wrong. She scoffed at those who only wanted drinks. She separated our group to separate rooms because we had children with us. I am glad I will never have to go there again.

Visited for some drinks whilst on holiday in the area. Spent our time in the fantastic beer garden. It was a large open area with plenty of seating and space in a lovely setting.

Such a beautiful place, great surroundings and plenty of tables outside. There are some dog friendly areas also which is a bonus. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with our food, waited over two hours, our mains weren't cooked as our starter had not been cleared, yet staff were walking past all the time. Mixed reviews on the food, two of us had a lovely meal but the other two not so much, cold and missing items. Staff did rectify our displeasure. It wouldn't put me off going again, just maybe not for food.

Gorgeous building inside, and a large beer garden out back along with some pretty seating at the front patio garden. We just had snacks — apple crumble and a cheese board. The crumble was tasty (although they completely forgot to bring the order for one person in our group) but the cheeseboard was disappointing. There were no chutneys and only a few grapes to go with four slices of cheese. Nothing to get too excited about.

So we got married here in December (bit late doing this I know). I have to say it really was the best day. Tori and team were fantastic from the moment we booked the wedding until the moment we checked out 2 days after the day! They were so attentive, I could not have asked for a more beautiful seamless day! The locally sourced homemade food was devine, the grounds were beautiful and we were allowed to decorate any way we wished. Truly beautiful place, inside and out. The DJ that Tori provided was top notch too, very thoughtful playing our first dance song at the end as we were the last ones standing. Beautiful touch. I literally cannot explain how every detail of the day was thought of and executed perfectly! Thank You Old Court Hotel ❤

Staff are friendly. Foods ok not the best to be fair. The old court is an amazing hotel and pub with lots of character and plase out side for your kids to play. I first had food at the old court a few years ago and it was nice but the chefs have changed and so has the food. Alcohol is plenty they have a vast range of drinks. Have fun.

Visited on a quiet snowy Sunday evening when everywhere else nearby was closed or not serving food. Pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, quality food, great setting and reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again.

Went to the old Court hotel for mothers day 11/03/18 and what a amazing place! Beautiful building, amazing staff and amazing food! Would and will highly recommend to friends, pretty good prices to!

Stopped here for lunch. Good food options with a choice of larger main meals and lighter lunch options. Good choice of both hot and cold drinks. Building has been left with plenty of character — good original features.

A bit of a mixed review. The service was good, staff were polite and food was great. On the downside there didn't appear to be any baby changing facilities, I saw one of the kitchen staff leave the toilet cubicle in his kitchen garb and my wife was ill the next day from whatever she'd eaten.

A beautiful building. Lovely atmosphere and made to feel very welcome by our waitress. We had the Hunters Chicken which was served with salad and seasoned chips. It was amazing!

Excellent food and a generous discount for blue light card holders. Fabulous interiors, friendly and accomodating staff, great location. Would definitely visit again.

Not great value for money. Crispy duck pancakes were not great. Not entirely sure it was indeed duck and it certainly wasn't crispy. Hunters chicken was not pretty to look at. A bowl of slop that tasted like chicken with the tomato sauce from a tin of baked beans with cheese on top that had mixed with the sauce. Chicken with cheesy beans minus the beans would have been a better description.

Great menu choices. Quality food fantastic value for money. All staff are extremely friendly, helpful and efficient.

The old court hotel was a lovely old fashioned building and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately the walls are incredibly thin and absolutely every sound can be heard from one room to the next. The beds ate comfy but the rooms need a bit of updating. The breakfast options were tasty but the full English was extremely minimal with only one sausage o e bacon one egg and black pudding 2 measly mushrooms and half a tomato. Other options were available but if not ordered maybe the staff should offer more if you would like. Overall not a terrible stay but will definitely not be back.

The room was ok but a bit pricey for what it was. Hit and miss with the staff, some were very friendly and helpful whilst others felt rude and like we were in the way. Would stay again though.

Well what can I say almost was not getting to stay here at all After checking on line there was a twin room available I went to check in and was told there was no twin room available. When I pointed out there was one on line I was told it must have been recently booked and not on the system. I said no I had checked only outside in the car park the room was there so should I do that, only to be told the housekeeper had made the room up into a king room. Being tired after a long travel I then asked could I remake the Beds myself to be told okay if I gave them fifteen minutes one girl would remake the Beds. What a way to welcome a guest,! The room was fine but no facility for the dog no bowl, cushion or towel 10£ charge was really just an add on for nothing I enquirer about eating in the dinning room and the receptionist said that would be fine but it was only available at 8.30 Fine I said so she then said she'd just go and check Back she came to say no the only available time was 6.30 after all which was far too early for me so that was that We had to make do with bar food.

Absolutely fantastic! The staff are so friendly and professional. We had a room upgrade on our 3rd anniversary returning to the hotel and we are over the moon. Thank you x.

Wonderful lunch on the patio outside near the hog roast. The menu is fairly extensive albeit a little expensive however it's a hotel first and foremost and therefore to be expected. Having said that the meals were very plentiful and tasted fantastic. Will be back without exception.

Nice place — booked lunch as part of a corporate day out canoeing. Dinner was good pub grub — we pre-ordered and they were really responsive on the phone. Would have been nice if they had taken drinks orders at the table.

Food was excellent. All the signs that this place is well run. Fish and Chips had Tumeric in the batter, hand cut chips and a sprinkle of a spice mix over the top. A sort of Nandos meets Fish and Chips. The kids menu was very good, well presented, decent little sausages on some nice fresh mash with gravy. Staff were well dressed and came across well trained and could answer questions about the meals and were willing to help and showed a bit of extra thoughtfulness. Condiments didnt taste like cheap cash and carry rubbish and the garden was very nicely landscaped with well maintained furniture. All the food came out on nice service gear, plates and on time. If you enjoy a decent gastropub then this will not disappoint. We went during a busy Sunday lunch and there was no service or food issues. Congrats to the management. Only one area they could improve on is invest in more kids play equipment. You have the space for it!

Good, reasonably priced food. There is a nice comfortable feeling about the place. Garden is nice with a good climbing frame for the kids. Staff friendly and helpful.

We got married at the Old Court (4or5 years ago) and had a great time and the feedback from our guests was the same. Lovely building and nice local residents. We had a hog roast with buffet, but as we had young children we used the large garden for a kids entertainer to look after all the guest kids for several hours so the adults could relax. The Tudor room was nicely prepared and we found the management very helpful in guiding us on costs and what they could do for us. The accommodation to which we took most of it was really good and nicely done.

Have to say the mouth watering menu did not live up to expectations. Starters were great but the mains were very odd tasting. I really couldn't enjoy it. We had Lasagne, Pie, steak, burger and nuggets between us and nobody felt the meal was good. For the price we expected a lot better. Tired and hungry we left and will not return. I think the place looks lovely and for a drink it may well be worth a visit but cant recommend the meals.

Stopped for lunch at the Old Court Hotel today, only required snack type but was impressed with the selection on the menu. We decided on the home cooked ham, egg and chips, sad to say when this arrived the egg was very overcooked, the ham was most definately not home cooked and the salad side was very tired and limp, to top this off the meals were luke warm. Sad to say we will definately not be visiting again.

Stayed over the weekend. Could not find one fault. Excellent.

Nice architecture. Quick, friendly service. Food portions surprisingly large, no room for dessert! Prices very reasonable considering not only the quantity but also the quality.

Great older worldwide pub, restaurant and hotel, with discount for over 60s.

I'm here more often to guest and can give you a 100% recommendation. The House from the 16th century is pure romance, the rooms large and comfortable, excellent cuisine and cordial service. It couldn't be better.
