It is difficult to assess the property, because upon arrival we find that, due to renovations, the booked room is not available, and we are diverted (by taxi at the property's expense) to another hotel in the group (Norfolk Towers Paddington Hotel), seemingly equal, a few blocks away.
I could understand an unexpected one at a last-minute room, but the refurbishment work, with the hotel lobby comprehensible, basically a construction site, I don't think it was a sudden situation.
It would have been honest, and I would say the minimum required for a 4th, to be notified in advance, to be able to evaluate and choose whether to accept the transfer to another facility. Also because the reservation was made 3 months in advance.
Even with some hassle, so far, one could have turned a blind eye.
However, in the new hotel, we receive a very bad treatment. Tiny room, but above all smashed mattress, unusable. Unfortunately being midnight, nothing could be done until the next day. Being a small bed (double French), one of us has practically not slept.
The next day, we were changed room, fortunately. The staff was very cold about it (I would say more than anything annoyed), and we were not given any compensation or made an attempt to compensate (not even offered a bottle of water).
At the price paid, the service was very poor, the series of inconveniences were not handled by a qualified and competent staff.
In addition to the damage, the mockery: looking back at the rates of the hotel in which we are diverted, a new booking would have cost us 38 euros/day less (available and on offer on booking), with a saving of 114 euros (3 nights).
We may have been naive, but surely they had unfair and dishonest behavior. It wouldn't have cost him anything to move to the other hotel with an upgrade to a better room (or maybe just a decaying bed).
