We came for a team lunch for 12 people today and we had a lovely time. Great communication before hand with preorders, really nice food and great service.

Only stopped for a lunch but had lovely wraps. Served quickly and very tasty. Coming with lovely chunky chips and salad, very good value for money Very clean. Pleasant service.

Great value for money Absolutely beautiful rooms.

We were very impressed with our meal sizes on the big size. Food well presented. Drink prises natural average. Staff very frendly.

Stopped off after a dog walk for dinner tonight, under new management so thought we would give it a go. So glad we did the food was great, beef curry was delicious and kids pasta was a good size. Lovely outdoor seating area and kids play park too.

Very friendly pub … loving the app easy to order sometimes a little to easy with drinks ha ha … staff are so friendly and polite they all work very hard … Great garden area suitable for everyone … dog friendly to with their own Keg of water 😀

Just a had a lovely meal, a couple of cracking pints in the Sun Inn today. Absolutely chuffed with the service, The only annoying thing for me during my visit was the lack of customers, because I believe people are missing out due to tier 2 nonsense. Please Go and support your local and enjoy a bit of grub and a pint because if its gone its gone.

Me and my family (12 in total) had a meal at the Sun Inn last night. Service was friendly, quick and efficient. Food was amazing… large portions, hot and really tasty. Nice atmosphere with some great live music to finish off the night. Would highly recommend a visit.

The place itself is OK and to be honest the staff who looked after our party last night were absolutely fantastic, couldn't fault them at all.
In my opinion the food is overpriced for pub food, I ordered the large scampi and when it turned up with 7 pieces of scampi and a small handful of chips and a bit of salad, you couldn't help but being disappointed.

Mark and Zaloma are fantastic hosts and one of their head barstaff Bridget brings a wonderful atmosphere into their pub/guest house ❤️we will be back.

The Sun Inn has the best Beer Garden in Swindon, Its simply amazing. A very friendly pub with great staff serving great beer and has a good, friendly atmosphere. We spent the evening there last night watching an amazing band "The Casual Ties" and it was a fantastic night out. We would thoroughly recommend the Sun Inn at Coate and if you haven't been give it a go. If you love a bit of "nostalgia" they even have a "last orders bell", I have not heard one of those since the mid 80's LOL … Brilliant.

Landlady is disgustingly rude to guests, Do not recommend this place at all for ANYONE. There’s a much better place just down the road anyway.

We stopped for lunch on our way to coate water and the service adn food were so good could not fault it at all. There were having some work done can't wait to go back and see what it is like. All the staff were friendly and all had smiles also a lovely family friendly pub. Really looking forward to returning. The portion sizes were very good as well you don't go away hungry. Thank you.

Very comfortable stay on Friday. Clean room, great breakfast and close to the M4 and local amenities. Hope to return with the family.

What a disappointment. I booked for 5 + 2 children who needed high chairs. For today at 3.30pm. I explained it was 2 birthdays and asked if they had any cakes. I was told that they didn't but we could bring our own. I arrived at 3.15pm to sort out the cake before the rest of the family arrived. Only to be told they did not have our booking. Jake behind the bar tried to help asked the assistant managers who's only response was she did not take the booking. Jake quickly set a table for us, but they had run out of Sunday Roasts. We said we would just pick from the rest of the menu but they had also run out of vegetables. I ordered Salmon with salad and boiled potatoes. When my meal arrived the boiled potatoes had been put in a deep fat fryer to warm them. We finished our meal and had discussed that after the meal to bring the cake. We had to clear the table ourselves and the cake when it was brought out did not have any plates for us to use. We waited for nearly 1 hour for the ice cream and dessert to arrive before cancelling and leaving. Jake did try but clearly they do not have enough staff either in the kitchen or in the restaurant.

It has an outdoor play area which is why we went but that was out of order. The food was ok. I sent my meal back because it wasn't as described and instead of telling me they are out of stock they just gave me a teaspoon of salsa for my whole meal. The rest wasn't anything to write home about so won't be going back. They are also hard to find on the map if you do not go through their website so not the ideal meeting place for out of town visitors like me. They have accommodation so maybe that is why they have quite a few punters because they are not coming for the food.

Lush food. Great playground for the kids. Plenty of outdoor seating and tables.

The sun Inn is a wonderful bar and restaurant that has lovely decor and plenty of light. With ample parking, a children's play area and accomodations, the sun Inn really has plenty to offer. It is well kept and tidy and feels good. There is a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. The food has a homemade taste and mine was delicious. The drinks are good too.

Traditional pub/restaurant serving above average food at reasonable prices. Service is usually quite fast except on one occasion when a couple of large groups were dining at the same time, which is to be expected. If you are staying at the nearby Holiday Inn, this is better food, larger portions at cheaper prices so worth the short walk.

Great pub for all the family. Great outside seating area with park, lovely function room, fantastic accommodation, and always something going at weekends.

Nice place but no Vegan options on the menu which left me just being able to order chips. With the number of people adopting a plant based diet you should really get on board with this as there's aren't many restaurants around these days that dont have at least one option on the menu.

The venue itself is really nice, well presented and friendly staff. I was put off mind you by the horribly dirty and sticky menus. We ordered a selection of food abs on the while it was pretty nice and well priced. Food wise my only complaint was that the 11oz rump steak was either poor quality or badly cooked. It was tough and chewy, I ordered it rare, may be a mistake for lower quality meat…

Had lunch today Garden lovely, play area for kids great. Really good food and super value for money, large portions Plenty of staff so no waiting, all very polite and friendly Definitely worth a visit, go early as it gets very busy early. Another good point is dogs are welcome.

Went to the Sun Inn at Coate Water last night and was absolutely disgusted for the second time. The food was dreadful and I would advise anyone thinking of going to think again. The belly pork was dished up as a very large square piece of fat with no meat on it. Then after sending it back ordered a steak. What turned up was a hard chewy thing that I wouldn’t even feed our dog. It was meant to be medium rare. This is now the second time we visited the Sun Inn as always think it’s wrong to base a place on food once. Well the second time was also shocking and I am very surprised there still open when serving food like that. I’m not a fussy person but I do expect food to be edible!

Came today for a family lunch. Myself, husband, 2 children, and both sets of parents. We were put in the conservatory. Looked lovely. Was very cold and bench seating totally impractical for the parents/grandparents. Waiting staff were lovely. We ordered swiftly but waited an hour for food. No probs as a busy Saturday lunchtime. When the food finally arrived… MIL lasagne had clearly been warmed more than once, garlic bread burnt, my chicken breast burger was dry and totally over cooked, the scampi and the fish that were ordered were clearly ‘crispy’ and my husbands 1/2 roast chicken was so over cooked that it was inedible! This was a very embarrassing and unhappy situation. They took the price of the chicken off of the bill but when I asked the barman at the point of paying the bill, (who was very understanding and clearly mortified, he’d seen the chicken! ) if there was to be any kind of good will gesture, he checked with his manager who kept his head down and said they can have a free pudding or soft drink… pudding… hubby hadn’t even had his dinner!
I explained we wouldn’t be staying for a pudding or another drink, paid the bill and left with the promise I would leave a review… so here it is! Very disappointing experience. Definitely would not return.

Great for Sunday lunch. Not suitable Sunday for a small lunch. Friendly staff and tasty food. Dogs allowed and has wheelchair access. Has a play park for children and adequate size parking.

We have been here a few times now for food and just for a drink. The staff are friendly polite and make the pub a warm and enjoyable place. There is a nice buzz going around and it is family friendly. The food here is nice and served well. There is a nice area for eating away from the main pub which leads onto a nice play area outside for the children. Since the Sun Inn is located by Coate Water, if you eat a little bit to much there is a nice walk that you can go on to burn a few excess calories off.

Relaxed Sunday afternoon atmosphere and staff only too willing to help. Food and beer are good too.

The sun Inn is a great place to grab a drink and hang out with friends, it is based near coat water so perfect if you've just taken the kids out and you can grab a bite to eat.

The Sun Inn is a very comfortable pub and the staff are very friendly. It is possible to eat for a reasonable price but the quality of the food is not exceptional. Very accessible by public transport or by car, the pub has parking and also rooms. Guaranteed atmosphere on Sunday at quiz night.

We went for lunch, the food was amazing except a little slow serving. All of our desserts were lovely except the crumble wasn't the best. Nothing to major to worry about it was all in all a great visit, staff are great.

Lovely beer garden. Nice foods. Nice Conservatory eating area. Quick service in normal customer time. I don't yet know of anyone who has stayed in the attached B&B area. Booking is recommended, but sometimes they can fit you in ad-hoc. The car park is fairly large and after a leisurely walk around Coate Water, The Sun Inn is well recommended for a cold or hot refreshing drink.

Atmosphere here is brilliant, great entertainment and food. Great for family's and large enclosed space out back, will keep returning.

Really enjoyed it and will be back regularly I'm sure. We've been for lunch twice in a matter of days, once for a sandwich (which was delicious, and a huge plate of food! ) and once for Sunday lunch, which was excellent as well. Friendly staff and atmosphere.

We had a lovely meal at the Sun inn yesterday.
The hospitality from staff was fab.
A few weeks ago I booked a meal a curry night for 40 people which was excellent food and and reasonable prices.
Iv booked another night to have a meal before Christmas. Thanks to James his wife and staff.
Highly recommended.

We go here now and again and have never had any issues. James and Theresa are lovely people and are doing a very good job. The food is also very good.

We went their for lunch. Brief points about our visit: 1. They have great outdoor play area to keep kids entertained which made life lot easier when you take little ones out. 2. Sunday roast was average but the puddings were really good. 3. Staff was mixed bunch. Unfortunately waitress has looked like she wasn't very keen. We had to request her attention despite it not being busy. Would say don't expect great but at same time if you want to take young ones out for pub meal then I lived the fact that it caters well for them. I wouldn't recommend it as a great place but still has its pluses.

Stayed here for one night and they were in the middle of a refurbishment… obviously this meant there was some disruption, however it didnt seem to affect the service. Very friendly, good food at very reasonable prices, and very nice room with heated flooring in the bathroom… would highly recommend.

Much improved since my last visit. The food was excellent and a good portion size. Glad to see Arkells branching out with new beer styles. The Triple Bogey, a triple hopped IPA was very good.

The food took over an hour to be served and wasn't very appetizing. And everyone who ate got upset stomachs and felt I'll. Surprising as we all had different dishes, so I can only assume the kitchen surfaces were dirty.

Been here today so that the grandson can have a run about, play on in the park provided. Excellent provision, plenty for them to do, safe environment… we just had a drink but the meals looked appetizing.

Social breakfast with a group. Warm and welcoming pub. Great staff. Breakfast was lovely. Only grumble would be the veggie option of a veggie burger instead of sausage and bacon. Felt it was a unique breakfast option to go with eggs, mushrooms, tomato, beans and toast.

Attended a celebration following a baby shower. We sat in the main bar area and had our kids charging about and playing in the excellent play area outside. Service was great and there was no queueing at the bar.

From walking in to placing our food order at the bar to paying our bill the staff were friendly and accompanying. What you can I say about the food. Delicious, hot and quickly delivered to the table. Will definitely be returning very soon!

Love this pub. We come here for all family Sunday meals. Changed hands a few tines. Menu gets worse or better but always fairly priced and good food. Brilliant play ground for the kids that can get a bit boisterous in the summer. But if you supervise your kids it's OK.
