Lovely hotel with character. Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent location. Parking difficult to find is on sheep st.

Excellent hotel, lovely room, nice friendly staff, didn't like having to pay for car parking at hotel, 10 pounds a night!

We stayed here for two nights. We were upgraded to a privilege room at no extra cost. It was very spacious, and characterful. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel and we hope to visit again.

Came here for afternoon tea. Did not stay here so can not rate rooms etc. The afternoon tea was great, my fiance has a nut allergy and the chef prepared a afternoon tea box just for her. It was a great touch and real class. Service was great, sandwiches were very good plus the selection of cakes/scones were delicious. Would definitely recommend this place.

We went for our anniversary after spending our honeymoon here. The staff are very friendly and we were given a beautiful room to stay in. We had breakfast each day which was delicious. Perfect stay!

The hotel was very well presented however there were cobwebs in our room, other than that the en suite was very clean. The breakfast great with a hot and continental buffet. The location of the hotel was fab, right in the center, with its own car park which is rare with a city center hotel. The staff were very welcoming and accomodating.

Lovely Hotel. Location allows easy access to the town and has a traditional Tudor atmosphere. Staff are also very friendly and polite.

Excellent… differentiated attention, a piano that sounds and a home that Entibiese. First Class Kitchen!

Had afternoon tea. Fantastic service, fantastic food. Interior of hotel is superb, with open fire. Staff were excellent.

Lovely Royal Engineer Association Christmas dinner. Great food, piping hot and very well cooked and presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. Downside £5.00 for a pint of lager shandy. Seems the half of lemonade is £2 (therefore £4 a pint for a soft drink)

Beautiful period building, ideal for setting the tone for a Shakespeare based visit to Stratford upon Avon. Located near the centre of town, it is an easy walk to all of the attractions, or to the sightseeing bus that tours the town and goes further outside to Mary Arden's house. The river is about 200 metres away, with the RSC theatre and the canal basin. Overall, an ideal place to stay.

The rooms on the front are in the old part of the hotel. Where the soundproofing isn't as good as possibly the newer part but the atmosphere won't be the same with the uneven floors, low ceilings and character that you would expect. This can occasionally be noisy in the early hours due to bins being collected and deliveries to local shops. The car parking isnt cheap. £10 per night and not the easiest to find. The entrance is located on Sheep Street between 2 other buildings, so can be easy to miss. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Complained on checkout that the wine glasses we had from the bar hadn't been cleared so got the parking discounted to one night from 3. Which was good of them. The hotel makes a good base to discover Stratford as many amenities and restaurants are within walking distance.

Looks nice, good location, however I was staying in the annex and the room wasn't great. No heating and windows that didn't close properly meant my room was very cold in the evening. When I tried to turn the radiator on I found the thermostat wasn't connected.

Full of character, friendly staff, nice clean rooms. Restaurant has changed to a chain sadly churning out very average food. And the beer selection is abysmal. Luckily there's good pubs nearby.

I always go to the Mercure for its wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and its deliciously (strong) coffee after an evening in Stratford upon Avon. With its plush, sumptuously comfortable armchairs and original fireplaces, there's nowhere nicer to unwind.

Free parking (limited spaces available). Hotel looks lovely from the outside. Live music (piano) upon entering the reception area. Played beautifully. Room was lovely and clean. Lovely little bar area. Lift available to get to all floors. Posh restaurant attached to hotel. (which we didn't have a chance to use but looked very nice). It's a few minutes walk from the RSC which was the purpose of our visit so very handy for us. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Quite expensive rooms, very expensive bar… but WORTH IT! Staff friendly on reception so good start, but when opened the door to our room… Wow! Beautifully and sympathetically decorated, like stepping back in time! Everything you need was in there from tea and coffee facilities to iron and ironing board to hairdryer, even came with a fridge! Bed (and pillows) were about the comfiest ever and the next morning's buffet breakfast was superb. Couldn't think of a single option they didn't have (went back for 2nds and nobody bothered lol) Hotel is probably in the best location in Stratford for the sights and parking is right behind hotel in a secure car for which you pay £10 a night (cheaper than paying for parking on the road and safer! ) Would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to all IF I had to criticize, then it would be that none if the breakfast waitresses cracked a smile! But you can't have everything!

We came here on a last minute trip away and found ourselves pleasantly surprised & a little impressed with this Hotel. We were warmly greeted by Michaela and delighted with our junior suite. Very relaxing & comfortable stay.

Excellent location, perfect for exploring Stratford. Breakfast was good with great selection. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Room was small but very clean, couple of issues but nothing that would warrant complaint. I would definitely stay here again.

Staff were excellent, hotel is just as you would expect it — uneven everywhere, old yet … plush. Location is perfect — dead center. The rooms (we had a suite) were ok. Spacious, yep. Well furnished, just about. Need updating in places yep. Bathroom was great, nice and new and clean, but hairdryer had bare wires and unless you were 4ft you were sitting down to use it oh and the air con didn't work. Room was a little noisey during the day as it was front facing and thw windows are aingle pane but didn't bother much as it gets quiet at night. Overall good stay. Ps breakfast in room was very nice.

Perfect location in middle of the town centre. Spacious room with good sized bed and bath. Free parking was an added bonus!

Very good if staying in Stratford. Price reflects the location: right in the centre and easy walk to the theatre. Have to pay for parking at the hotel, but that's what happens for central hotels. Main hotel rooms are comfortably traditional rather than purely functional. The hotel feels like part of the stay rather than just a place to sleep while visiting the town.

Close to those attractions of Shakespeare and town. Nice place.

Nice hotel, room was well kept and clean. Old building so no straight walls and doors. But the doors should seal shut, we had a big gap at the bottom of the door. Breakfast had a lot to choose from.

We loved it, excellent value. Very clean and luxurious room. Perfect location with parking for RSC. Felt in the heart of Stratford, great for shopping to Lush etc and visits to Shakespeare's Houses and Anne Hathaway tearooms. Staff friendly and lovely spacious and suitably modern Elizabethan lounges.

Old england. Squeaks an creaks with wooden beams and the crackling sound of a wood fire. Love it.

An extremely attractive and authentic period hotel. A very refreshing change in comparison to most large hotel chains. I love it.

The room was adequate but with very few facilities for the star rating. The bath was filthy and it has taken more than forty minutes to get someone down from housekeeping plus many calls to reception. We are still waiting. Breakfast has been about the only good thing.

Very good hotel. We went in the off season and had a great time. No lines, no problem getting into a good restaurant. The hotel is centrally located, very nice big rooms, great staff and even a cool olde English bar in the lobby. The ONLY place to stay in S upon A.
