Beautiful Hotel where your not bothered. Breakfast hamper in room is a massive plus. Rooms are neat and tidy. Set in the centre of Oxford and close to everything this is a hotel that ticks all the boxes.

Not hotel guests, but very grateful to the wonderful chaps at the Vanbrugh House Hotel who very kindly offered us breakfast this morning during our emergency ambulance shift. In these uncertain times they did not need to make such a lovely gesture but an enormous thank you from the bottom of our hearts from a trio of very grateful paramedics. We highly recommend the breakfast and coffee — delicious! Thank you.

Pictures r a fraud, it is super small, so much smaller than the picture. no air ventilation, no air conditioning, very unhygienic Horrible service.

Location is great for exploring Oxford. Rooms are decorated nicely and are spacious… except the bathroom. Lots of nice extras such as free welcome snacks, robes, smart TVs. Service was great and was pleased overall with our stay.

1st rate rooms, will defo be back perfectly situated in centre of town plenty of sites to see and things to do. Pubs good also.

Great location in town centre. My room was large, well furnished, and quiet at the back of the hotel. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazingly good value lunch menu. Top end food for just over a tenner. Small portions but beautifully conceived and presented.

Good breakfast and room, scored it low though as we had room / suite 1. The door opens onto a busy corridor serving the restaurant and front desk meaning you are woken up from 6am. Sound proofing is very much needed for this room, if you've been given it, recommend changing your booking unless you're ok with early morning disturbances.

Location was central in Oxford, near to main shopping street, which was very lively on weekends. Hotel provided snacks on arrival, which was a nice touch.

Wonderful stay in The Nicholas Hawksmoor Room and thoroughly loved our own little garden space. Wanted something special for a break away and that's exactly what we got. Staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Waterfall shower a pleasant suprise and the Breakfast is not to be missed. A real treat! Great location right in the centre of all the bustle of a wonderful city with enough peace and quiet to make our stay a relaxing and truly lovely one. Thankyou!

My wife and I had a pleasant stay in Oxford in September 2017 and stayed just one night at Vanbrugh House Hotel. The location of this hotel is literally perfect. It is just steps from the city center of Oxford. Within 30 seconds of stepping outside the hotel you can be at many great restaurants, pubs, and shopping establishments. The hotel is on a quiet street, even though one street over is busy and noisy, the hotel itself is quiet and feels secluded inside. It is a charming boutique hotel in a historic building. Our room was very small although this was not unexpected; we are in a boutique European hotel in a historic building and area, after all. There was a USB adaptor which was very helpful to charge devices. There was no lift / elevator, and our room was two floors up. Not the end of the world, as the staff took our luggage up the stairs to our room, but when we were checking out, the poor girl working the front desk went upstairs to get our luggage. I felt bad that she had no help, so I went upstairs to help her. Two big negatives of the hotel is that there is no air conditioning, and the beds are very uncomfortable. I travel frequently and I am not picky at all with beds and pillows, but the bed did feel like I was sleeping on a wooden floor, and the pillows were flat and offered almost zero neck support. The lack of air conditioning, was surprisingly an issue.

Small and old hotel. The bed was small and uncomfortable. Bathroom was OK. But the worst was the noisy front street!

Great location, comfy bed, good shower. Nothing else I needed for a late check-in and early departure the following morning. Would def. Visit again next time I'm in need of a hotel in central Oxford.

Unfortunately though there were 2 major negatives …
1. The front facing rooms (like ours room 28) were so noisy with the Oxford Union we got next to no sleep as there is no double glazing or any insulation. Students were outside shouting and screaming until around 5.30am. I'm sure the back rooms wouldn't be as bad BUT…
2. The mattresses were unbearably firm to point of actually being uncomfortable. The small amount of sleep we did get wasn't pleasant due to the bed. It was the same for the other guests in our party as well so not just our room. As I say it's a lovely hotel with location and staff but we came away aching and exhausted.

Stunning building, lovingly renovated. The rooms are really well equipped and furnished but fairly small — at least mine was. It was summer and the air was pretty bad but unfortunately the window didn't open a lot and there was no AC (not allowed in the listed building). The breakfast was spectacular — unfortunately I can't eat that much in the morning. Service and all staff really lovely and courteous. The price for the night is beyond anything I would privately pay but to my surprise there were some young travellers from around the world — evidently there is enough money :-) Edit May 2017: different room this time and the rating is changed from 4 to 3 stars. As I already noted there is no AC in the room — unfortunately I couldn't open the window to the back yard because some machine makes some constant high pitched noise. This really bothered me and I didn't sleep well. Maybe rooms facing other directions are better. And hey, no toilet brushes? What kind of design craze is that? That can't be compensated by the really nice walk-in shower. Two more things about the bathroom — the fan that comes on with the light is so noisy that I only used the dim light on the make-up mirror and there was no space to put any of my toiletries.

Just great and made much mire by our waitress Mia who is delightful and do helpful. Thank you for a wonderful experience in a wonderful place.

Fabulous hotel in an even better location. Walking distance to all the main attraction and Christmas Market. Hotel is clean and service is superb. Breakfast service was slow on one morning and timing for serving tea and toast to receiving main breakfast were slow.

Stayed at Vanbrugh House Hotel with my daughter, wife, mum and dad. Great Location 10-15 minutes from Oxford Playhouse. Staffs were helpful and excellent facilities. Would definitely stay again!

I stayed at Vanbrugh House Hotel for 3 days with my friends. It was great location; very close to the Oxford New Theatre to take you downtown in 10 — 15 mins. Friendly and helpful reception staff. The room was wonderfully cool and airy. I will stay there again.

My family stayed Vanbrugh House Hotel for 3 nights along with several friends. The Hotel was in a great location close to the Oxford University. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room comfortable. Highly recommended.

We stayed overnight at Vanbrugh House Hotel. Location is very fantastic; this was one of the best Hotels in Oxford city Centre. The wait staffs are ever so polite and attentive. Location is excellent. I would recommend this hotel.

This Vanbrugh House Hotel is a great place to stay, it was good value for money, and the breakfast and dinner were excellent. It has great parking and super close location to the Oxford train station to take you downtown in 10 — 15 mins. I will stay there again.

This Vanbrugh House Hotel is one of the best boutique hotels I have visited. The best part was room service for breakfast. The staff is friendly, the rooms very clean and the beds comfortable. The Vanbrugh House Hotel was perfect! Everyone was so nice there. Will definitely do it again.

Shared a weekend at the Vanbrugh House Hotel celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. This was unique hotels in Oxford. Our room was spacious, the bed very comfortable and overall very clean and enjoyable.

We stayed for two nights in this Hotel Indigo Edinburgh it was lovely, very clean and staffs were helpful. This was one of the 4 star hotels in Edinburgh. This hotel, spotless room, great staff and facilities. Would definitely recommend.

The Vanbrugh House Hotel is situated in the heart of Oxford and is perfect for exploring the city on foot. The staffs were very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. The room we were in was lovely and the bed was one of the biggest and best we have ever slept in.

I booked myself and family into this hotel on the occasion of my university graduation ceremony on 10th May. All the staff, without exception, were welcoming and friendly. They acknowledged the importance of the occasion for me and helped to make it extra special and memorable. They also went out of their way to accommodate our young grandson and his paraphernaila and always greeted requests with a smile and a 'can do' attitude which I very much appreciated. The hotel is very central but there is no parking. We used the Park and Ride service and drove the cars up to the hotel for loading and unloading. We had a sound nights sleep and it was useful to have hotel dining 'on the spot'. This was particularly useful with a young baby. I hope to stay here again when next in Oxford.

We really enjoyed our short stay here. If you like boutique hotels this is the place to go. The location was amazing with all sights in waking distance. Our room was quiet, clean and modern but could have been a big bigger. However, for our short stay this didn't really matter. Breakfast was really good and tasty. We would definitely stay again.
