Lovely cosy pub and good food if you order from main menu. The £5 meals are really not great! Outdoor seating available.

What a strange place! 3 members of staff who seemed to think I was invisible! Almost empty, a manageress who seems to pride herself on making herself look busy to avoid making eye contact and acknowledging customers exist. And 2 members of staff who are to busy talking. Won’t drink here again!

Long wait for food even though quiet. When it came it was wrong. No one seemed to bother either.

Not the first time I've been here. But will be the last. Staff miserable and rude. Food warm not hot. Must sit under service lights a while. Been disappointing three times now. Had one meal from four forgotten first time. Cold food rude service second. And Unhelpful snotty attitude with quality lacking third time.

Stopped here for something to eat by mistake. The food was basic but ok as you would expect with a Marston's but the lack of ingredients in the kitchen drastically reduced the options however, made a selection with what was left. Meal arrived with further missing item and when raised with the waitress faced a rather rude response snapping "I told you we didn't have everything".

I was surprised how early the kitchen closed but it was quite pleasant. I thought the menu could have been a bit more adventurous.

Got stuck in the snow in March 2018 and found this place. Very helpful and friendly. Prices were good. If ever we pass that way again I would have no hesitation in popping in.

Friendly atmosphere in this pub/restaurant. Good food with large choice. However the tables and menus could have done with a good clean as there was food stuck to them.

For this type of pub the food was as expected, not fancy but tasty. The staff were friendly and the place was clean and tidy.

Nice food, decent service, plenty parking and not too expensive.

Costs the same to enter for a 2 year old as it does for an adult. Then the 2 year old was not tall enough to go on all the rides/attractions. Surely there should be graded pricing dependent on age/size! Also, quite a few of the staff covers multiple attractions so if they were busy on one, they would not let you on the other one they were responsible for. Three members of staff were also very miserable, almost like they are doing you a favour letting you on there attraction! This wasn't all the staff though. If it cost £10 to enter this would be so bad, but for £20 even for the two year old, its poor. I certainly won't be going again and I will be encouraging others to stay away.

Brillant food try the katsu curry. Good choice for kids friendly staff nice selection of chicken options. Nice clean toilets I didn't staff but I've heard good things about the rooms etc.

Many visits here over 6 or 7 years for lunch time meals good food on nearly all occasions. Service a little slow sometimes. 9/10

We went there lunchtime Wednesday. I've never known such a rude and unfriendly person serving. She said are you trying to catch my attention… I'd have got to you eventually. She shouted at large party to not sit there "move as you are in our way". Though the nice waitress had seated them there. It took for ever to be served though very few people were there at the time. My lettuce was brown on the edges. My partner was later very sick. I will never never return. The woman (from way she talked down to everyone) could be a manager, should be sent on a customer service course or sacked.

Save your money! Absolutely disgusting, payed £125 to stay outside in a little room which was absolutely freezing and full of cobwebs. Staff were very very rude, took 30 minutes to check in while one member of staff stood next to us doing absolutely nothing, who only confronted us when I asked my sister if we had to check in at another bar/place. Traveling 10 hours for a family wedding this is not how I excpected to be greeted. (although I appreciate the journey is not their fault) Would never ever stay here again! Wouldn't even give it a one star rating, probably worth about £10 a night and that's being kind!

Got here nobody to check me in keys left in envelope outside. Went out and forgot my room key left in room so they assumed I checked out as cleaner told them I did I never even saw her. Moved me to another room as my original room was let out to somebody else even though I didn't check out to be told I have to move room again next day as the room they put me in was booked out. Went to see manager and was a waste of time will be taking this much further. My Xmas break ruined.

Food ok — some parts missing. Service poor the waitress was terrible and just gave us a tray to put our own cutlery and napkins out and even then we didn't have enough. She then proceeded to just plonk the plates on the table looking miserable the whole time. Then there were things missing but nobody came to check all ok so we had to flag her down explain the issues (missing onion rings and coleslaw) and she made us feel awful about it. Came back with the missing items and plonked that at the table. Food was average. Whilst sat there next to the bar we could hear the person behind the bar clearly complaining they did not want to be there at all. One diner came up to pay at the bar and had some menu issues with one of the deals. When the diner had left the person at the bar clearly said 'f****** P****' — very rude for front of house. We never got asked if we would like desserts after 35 minutes of waiting after our mains and just as we were putting our coats on to leave you could here the staff saying that they could go home now (we were not last to leave and not was it late). Not welcoming or friendly at all and the service leaves a lot to be desired. Will not be going back.

Had a Special Birthday meal at Waterloo Cross, with two people that mean the world to me. Great food Great company. Thanks again for everything thing xx.

Been here many times before & spent lots of money there but will never step foot in there again after been spoken to so rudely today. We arrived at 11.50 am after a fairly long car journey and waited for the doors to open with a couple of other people, the doors opened after 12 but that wasn't the issue. We were told to sit wherever there wasn't a reserved sign. We sat down at the end of a large table without a reserved sign, baring in mind there were 4 other people in the whole place. We were rudely told we couldn't sit there as it was for a larger party only, then waving her arms in the air walked off through the pub shouting at us and passing comment to the the barmaid about. Ok if you didn't want us to sit there then there is a way of saying it politely. I work in customer service and you lady would not last five minutes in an institution that prides themselves with good customer service. Note to manager get some new staff!

Staff were friendly. Insisted on table service even though I was about to walk to the bar to order. Food was lovely. Will definitely visit again.

Comfy room large bed. Food was quite good value and tasty. Had no breakfast as was out too early but they did provide bacon sandwiches the night before for us to take with is. Only bad point was there was no way for us to drop off our room key that early as everything was locked except for the exit.

For the price, my stay at Waterloo Cross was very nice. The room was slightly old-fashioned but comfortable and the hotel's dining area/bar was welcoming. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was perfectly good pub grub.

Pub grub food. Serving staff ok however one of the ladies seemed a little rude. Nice atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Menu could do with a few more healthy options such as a fresh fish option. Parking available for free. I did not stay overnight.

Been here three times… the first two were in the evening and the food and service were very good. The most recent time was for lunch, which was not particularly nice and there only seemed to be two members of staff on duty. The prices were reasonable and there is plenty of parking, but probably best to go during the evening for a better experience.

I had my two granddaughters today one aged 3 years the other 6 months. It was busy and there was a large party in. We ordered our food took a wee bit too long but the food was good. Staff were friendly and helpful except for one member who was not helpful when asked to do a special drink for my eldest grandchild. Customer service applies to all from the youngest to the eldest. For this reason I give three stars.

Came here to visit friends and enjoyed a lovely meal. Would recommend the ribs! Friendly atmosphere and good beers too.

Stayed here for one night. The food was good. I was a little concerned when I read the reviews about a member of staff that was rude, I think I met this member off staff although I personally didn't find her rude I can see why others that are more delicate might. Overall I would stay and eat again.

Cozy large room with adequate en suite facilities. Friendly staff and great food served in the bar/restaurant. Great location very close to the M5. Good for an overnight stay.

Must say the food and service here was fantastic, the room, shower loo etc was very clean and comfy but the bed was so comfortable. One down thing about here was that if you expect to lie in forget it, people above and around you getting up and out to work etc can't know how to shut their room doors, it sounds like the police are using a ram to get in. Very loud slamming doors which could be made quieter I'm sure somehow. On the whole great value for money with great staff.

Food was good, tasty and fresh. New decor was nice and was clean. Good service from staff. Longer than expected wait for desserts.

Service was reasonably quick given their past history of being under staffed. Food was ever so slightly over cooked but was nice enough. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Maybe not such a good thing when short staffed ;)

Pub looks good but room was cold, glass door, no privacy, went for a beer while it warmed up. Food was average, very well done dry steak. Won't be returning here.

Awful. If Basil Fawlty popped up from behind the bar maybe it would be funny but unfortunately it is just painful.

Stopped here at 6pm an hour into a four hour journey with 2 small children expecting to have dinner. The bar staff who took food order were curt and unhelpful. They did not have two of the four drinks we wanted and we waited an age for food, which was ghastly. My grandson's fish was so overcooked it was inedible and the replacement ordered was just as bad. We all left hungry. A miserable experience.

Waited an hour for food, half the menu wasn't available. In the end, after everyone else around our table finishing their meals (despite arriving after us) we left without paying for our drinks in protest. If you want better service venture a little further off the mway junction and look for a country pub where they value your custom. Not here.
