Just had a lovely meal here for new years eve. I had pizza which was so yummy. Fella had fish & chips he said they we're yummy too. The band that was playing we're so good. The service we received from Ellie was flawless. She deserved the tip we left her. Hoping to be back again soon. Its one of my favourite places to dine 😊

The food and the drinks were excellent as ever, and our server Alexandra was very friendly and helpful again! We'll definitely be coming back again soon.

Lovely food but service from being shown to our table and being asked what drinks we wanted was very slow. 45 minutes it took for someone to ask and then when the drinks finally arrived the order was wrong. Food arrived not long after ordering but was around 1.30h after being seated but it was beautiful. Overall the table service let it down, the restaurant temperature was very warm but would recommend the food. Judging by previous reviews I feel we must have just dined on rather a busy evening.

Lovely decor, fantastic meal. Drinks were good. Served by a lovely waitress most of the night, but can't leave a name as unsure who it was. Thank you for a fantastic night and accomodating so many people! Was a lovely night! Even if I did end up babysitting my staff 🤣

Our experience was nice, the steak was excellent, it was disappointing at the end of the meal when we couldn’t use our share holder vouchers.

I've now delivered two ceremonies at the Farmhouse and at both the staff have been perfect examples of what you want at a life event. Warm, friendly, professional, smart and helpful. The Folly is beautiful and I love the library. It's just a fab venue and I hope to be back.

Great place, Food superb!

This was our wedding venue. It was perfect from start to finish. The staff were fantastic. The fire pit was a big attraction in the evening toasting marshmallow around it. Our guests all said what a beautiful place it is 💕

Couldn’t ask for a better local, the staff are amazing, food spot on and the pub itself is just lovely. Big shout out to Paige, Belle and the events team for always being so warm and friendly too!

Our room is positively lovely and very plush. We're here for a wedding and the venue is superb for this type of event.

Service was extremely poor last night. Was only offered a drink on arrival, we had to grab one of the waitresses to order another one as there was no sign of being offered. Food was nice. Offered a pudding menu, after sat waiting for over 30mins with no sign of our waitresses, all wanting another drink and desserts. We decided enough was enough and went to find someone to ask for the bill. Which can I add was around another 20 minutes. Even though food was lovely our evening was definitely let down by the service.

Wonderful menu. Lovely, friendly staff. Defo go again. Already booked again for next month for our wedding anniversary meal.

My friend and I both ordered margarita pizzas which we’ve had before at the Farmhouse and have been delicious. However the pizzas on Sunday were terrible. There was virtually no cheese on them, it was all tomato. The pizzas were also dripping in oil. I picked up a piece of pizza and the oil was dripping off like water. As you bit into the pizza all you got was oil oozing out into your mouth. I told the waiter it was terrible and he said there was a new pizza chef and this would be fed back. It has really put me off the food which is a shame as I’ve had some fantastic food there.

First family holiday here and it was amazing. Loved the literature inspired decor and the George Orwell’s Animal Farm Rooms. Fantastic food also.

Would highly recommend, we stayed here on Sunday evening and this was our first overnight stay since before COVID, our first visit to the farmhouse too. Amazing rooms, food and very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of sanitiser and arrows for directions felt very safe yet very relaxed and comfortable. Would defiantly stay again, thank you! And Sunday dinner is 100% a must! Thank you for a wonderful stay! Great work and amazing team members you have! Thank you!

During Covid times they have set up a very good system in keeping us social distancing and safe, but without making us feel uncomfortable in their establishment. Excellent place recommend!

We can’t recommend The Folly at The Farmhouse highly enough for a wedding venue.
After visiting the venue in August 2019 and meeting Katie to discuss our requirements, we immediately fell in love with The Folly and was highly impressed by Katie’s professionalism and enthusiasm for our special day.
We booked our wedding ceremony and reception at The Farmhouse for the 29 Feb 20, with Katie’s partner in crime Abi our dedicated wedding coordinator. Abi communicated every step of the way and answered all our questions and discussed any queries we had prior to the day. Their attention to detail and planning was second to none and instilled us with confidence from the word go. They really made it so easy for us to relax and enjoy the whole planning process. The day itself was faultless and perfect in every way.
On the day Abi was superb and made sure everything ran smoothly and on time. (My sister had also hatched a surprise for us during the reception, which the team at the Farmhouse had secretly helped to ensure this went to plan — thank you)
The Folly is a beautiful room, with lovely grounds for pictures. The bridal suite was also stunning and it was lovely to finish the day off in beautiful surroundings.
We had many comments from our wedding guests on how beautiful the venue was and that the meal was lovely. People also commented on the evening food and how tasty and how it was served piping hot.

Had the best birthday staying here … the napoleon suite was stunning … accompanied by an amazing meal … would definitely come back.

I was really disappointed with my Sunday roast, it felt rushed and under cooked! waitress was obviously peed off when we asked for cauliflower cheese and sauces… The toilets were absolutely disgusting! Having said all that we had a lovely time as a family, the sharing dessert was fab.

Setting was lovely and loved the decor. Service was slow in parts but our waitress was very polite and smiley. We had the Sunday lunch options, potatoes were overcooked, we felt that the prices were a bit high for what was served. However, we will be back, but this time for the pizza.

Stayed here for two nights. Large room with very comfy bed. Great coffee machine, assorted teas including Moroccan leaf mint tea… my fav! Gooey chocolate brownie to have with the tea or coffee. Complimentary glass bottled water too.
Very pleasant staff, nothing was too much trouble, and happy to chat.
Excellent food, plenty of it, well cooked and piping hot.
The venue and staff get a 5* rating from us.
We will be back!

Amazing restaurant and service tonight for a family meal for my Mum’s 70th. The chef Ben was brilliant with the 4 children and went beyond expectations with showing them and helping them make their pizza! thank you to all the team for making it really special for us all x.

A lovely day (hog roast amazing) but was appalled by the grumpy bar staff.
No non-alcoholic drinks available and they flatly refused to make me a coffee.
if they want drivers to attend their establishment, we should be catered for!

Excellent food with great service. Baked Camembert followed by 2 for 1 pizzas. Went for our 1st anniversary and were really well looked after with a lovely complimentary slate plate with anniversary message and ice cream. Nice touch. Our waiter, Brian was lovely — an asset to the team. Our first visit, but definitely be back!

Never been here before, my daughter took me for my 50th, lovely place great food, even got a free ice cream board!

It was ok. Waited 15 mins for table we had booked for 2pm. Good choice on menu. We had starters. Main meal which were Sunday lunches took an age to come we started our mains 1hr after arriving at table. Beef Sunday dinner was over £16 was expensive for what it was. Beef had s lot of grissle. Won’t be rushing to return!

We met family at the Farmhouse, it’s half way between where we live and half way for our daughter. Liam was our server in the conservatory and he was very busy, but tended to all our requirements. We will definitely return. Thank you Liam.

Great place to meet friends for dinner. We combined it with an overnight stay as we were all celebrating wedding anniversaries this week. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We felt welcome and looked after.

Lovely stay at this country Inn / hotel. Rooms were perfect for us and facilities good within. The restaurant was a great surprise, great steak and pizza on offer amongst other dishes. Decor good and some outdoor seating areas for a sunny day. Spent the day working from here via Wi-Fi with ease too. Served as a great mobile office for me.

A very welcoming and friendly place. The staff go out of their way to help you. The food (fish and chips) in particular stands head and shoulders above any meal I've eaten this year. The family room we are staying in is perfect too. Fully recommended.

Not bad. We enjoyed it because we went early doors for happy hour. Steaks half price and pizza 2 for 1. Would we have been happy paying full price? Probably not… The food was nice and the steak was cooked how I asked but non of it was really worth full price for me.

Lovely place to eat or just have a drink and chat. Staff are very pleasant, food is good. I found it a little expensive but well worth a visit. You can eat inside or out. Scenery outside is worth looking at, very pleasant indeed.

We fell on this place by chance whilst collecting something in the area. Good place & atmosphere but food does not live up to the style. Sirloin was average & little with it. (but half price on a Tue! ) They had sold out of filet! My partner's fish dish was served cold! Otherwise quick service.

Beautiful interior, has a sense of luxury about it and is light, spacious and airy. We were a party of four who ate an early lunch there this week. The waiters seemed a little inexperienced, quite slow to respond, although not busy when we arrived and overly casual with their service. Unfortunately my smoked fish was massively overcooked and the meal itself was barely warm, which was a pity because it had the potential to be a winning dish. In fairness, the rest of the party were 'satisfied' with their food and enjoyed their desserts. This place has all the ingredients to be a massive success but just needs to up it's game a little. More attentive waiters, warmer well cooked food would have definitely got a 5 star rating.

Used for the butchers mainly, very good quality produce, reasonably priced and locally sourced. Lunch room is nice, fair price and fairly large portions of good quality food. Quite local so often in for something or other. Look forward to the expansion.

Family meal for 12 people. All the food arrived together everything was really tasty and beautifully presented. Staff were attentive but not overpowering. Would definitely recommend it and go back.

This has been mine and my partners third visit for dinner, and each time we couldn’t fault it! Have had wood fire pizzas with sides and each time everything has been beautifully cooked and tasted great. This visit, we had an absolutely fantastic server called Ben. Ben was professional, polite and very attentive. He went above and beyond his position tonight and maintained his area within the restaurant superbly! Above all that, we only rang to book a table 20 mins before we arrived, and Abbi was very accommodating on the phone and again very polite. The atmosphere was lovely as well, with a range of families, couple and friends drinking, eating and having fun. We will be back, to sample more of the menu.

I can't fault the place it's a great pub to be in sit by the log fire and they have singers on now which is even better also great beer and food I highly recommend it.

Service was bad. The manager on the bar was less than helpful. The food was terrible! No filling in the sandwiches and the baguette was dry! No one asked if everything was ok with our meal at any point. They keep your bank card when starting a tab. Not a very trusting place! Will never come again. The service on the next table to us was even worse. Got given the wrong food and made to wait an age!

Disappointing we paid £75 for the room if I had booked the day before it would of been £130 (crazy) room was nice however we could only watch one channel as the satellite was awful. We booked a table at 20:15 where we waited to get taken to our table they were quite obviously under staffed for a Saturday night. Waited for our drinks to come out which took forever little did we know the wait for our food would take even longer our server apologised so many times I lost count poor guy. Food was nice however the peppercorn sauce tasted more like gravy not sure how you can mess a peppercorn sauce up?
We was looking forward to breakfast the next morning to be told you only get a continental breakfast not a cooked one? I’ve stayed in so many hotels before never had that one before. After spending £70 on dinner £75 on a room then having to pay £7 each for a cooked breakfast.

Just got back from a lovely overnight break at The Farmhouse, & cannot fault it!
The room was amazing! So clean & tastefully decorated with plentiful flavoured teas & coffee machine. The bed was the height of comfort.
The staff were excellent especially ‘scouse’ Joe, who greeted us, checked us in & conversed with us telling is all about the history of the building & explaining all about the refurb.
Also young Joe in the restaurant who was our waiter for the evening meal deserves a mention for his brilliant service & explaining the items on the menu.
The continental breakfast (included in the price) was ample & everything was nice & fresh.
Thoroughly recommend this place.

Had a fantastic time for a family meal, there was 25 of us and the food and service was fantastic. Ben looked after our group with great interest and care and could not fault the whole visit. Excellent!

Easy venue to find and free parking is available on the premises. The lounge/bar area is very inviting with a great selection of drinks. The family room was well designed with a large comfy bed, chair, sofa bed, hanging space for clothes and a coffee machine with a small selection to choose from. The bathroom was small but fully equipped.

The overall look of the place is nice and very welcoming. When we had arrived the had various fires on throughout the building. The quality of the food was great and worth the money spent on them. Some may feel the steaks are highly priced but they are well worth it for the taste of them. Services of the staff were very good. Polite and attentive to our large party.

The food was excellent and our waitress was really good. However we didn't go at a particular busy time and the service was still quite slow. The view out that back of the restaurant was also very nice.

Blown away by this place, not been since it was the Mackworth Hotel and they’ve really turned this place around. Service was spot on, food was amazing. The haddock is the go to dish for me, it was tasty with plenty of fish and flavour. Would go again!

I'm gutted I have to leave this review as the place is beautiful and it's very romantic But we paid 29 pound for cote de beouf and it just tasted like a plain steak it was fatty and over cooked and most of it was bone very disappointed Plus u have to add most the staff looked scruffy in jeans and trainers One staff member laid a table and picked every fork up by the prongs and not the handles VILE Lastly everyday sexism by your staff Pint was given to my partner an assumption that I don't drink alcohol or pints

I paid the bill then your staff member gave my card over to my partner Women can order women can drink pints and eat steak women can give feedback and women can pay And before it's commented that the waiter took the order so knew who had asked for pint and steak we ordered with one person and another brought it out Very disappointed retrain your staff I would not come back.

A nice mix of modern and traditional, warm and comfortable. We just had drinks but the food looked tasty!

We booked the family friendly room which was £130 For the night. It was extremely shabby and very tiered. Holes in the wall, filthy bathroom and generally old and worn. We had our 1 year old daughter with us (hence the family room) however the bar stocked no child friendly drinks and during our meal refused to heat up her food. My meal was ok but my wife's vegetarian option was awful. Breakfast was also awfull. A few of the male staff were rude and had bad attitudes. Would never stop here again.

We went as two couples for an evening meal. The two for one pizza offer is a fantastic deal, this runs Monday to Friday. The service was fantastic, however we did have an issue with our order ticket going missing at the start. We watched for an hour as others who arrived well after us received their meals, and after asking the waitress it became clear they had made a mistake. They quickly apologised and the manager offered us free drinks and desserts which was a kind gesture that more than made up for the mistake. The way they dealt with this showed they cared and they were very professional. We all had pizzas and they were absolutely delicious. The toppings were plentiful and tasty. We were even given two complimentary bowls of fries as a further apology for the earlier mistake. We then ordered desserts, two were fantastic but unfortunately the two brownies were served cold which made them difficult to eat and not particularly tasty. I know from a past visit that the brownie is normally amazing. This was again dealt with fantastically and we were given 20% off our drinks bill. Despite the issues, we had a fantastic time at the Farmhouse. The staff were amazing in handling the problems and I have confidence that it wasn't a regular occurrence, and I know this from past visits too. The setting is stunning and very warm and inviting. I'd highly recommend the Farmhouse.

My wife and I traveled from NYC for a wedding and stayed here for two nights. We loved it. Charming and cozy establishment with a great staff. Room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Bathroom and shower were a good size and were also clean. Ate breakfast both mornings and enjoyed the food. Again, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend Staying here or stopping in for a pint and a meal.

Booked as a group of 9 and got an amazing out of the action seat meaning we could enjoy ourselves in a little peaceful corner, the maple glazed pork was fantastic, only one of the group had an issue with a cold Burger but it was handled well and didn't ruin the evening. As a result great marks for customer service too! Would definitely return again.

Just had Sunday lunch, staff very friendly nothing too much trouble but was disappointed with our meal nicely cooked but only just warm should have been much hotter! Hotel very smart and clean on the surface the domestic staff should try looking up occasionally, thick cobwebs were hanging from the windows in the conservatory area gave a very poor impression.

Excellent service, great pizzas and fish and chips. We were made to feel very welcome and they even moved us to a quieter part of the restaurant, away from a noisy group at our request. Will certainly return.

Style over substance. Sunday roast was poor — extremely dry, potatoes were like jackets. Asked for more of the (average) gravy and this was brought to the table in a thimble-sized container. Service was good but food not up to standard. Pizzas looked alright though!

Customer service is crap. I called in this morning and asked if they catered for funerals to be told no, but we do do wakes! Then I was told I needed to see the events planner who was not there. I left my number and was told she would ring me, waited all afternoon-nothing, so I rang there for thirty minutes and nobody answered. From previous reviews I won't waste any more time on that place.

Started by having to wait 20min even though we had booked a table. Ordered Sunday roast but when the food came out we were short on veg and were advised that they had run out. Also forgot kids meals. Also had run out of tomato sauce and don't offer BBQ. (how do you run out of tomato sauce! )

We booked in January to stay at The Mackworth Hotel as we did last year. When we arrived we were surprised that it was now The Farmhouse. We had received no notification that the hotel had been refurbished and had a new name and staff. We were kept waiting for about an hour and a half as our room was not ready. Finally at 3.30 we were shown to our room. The room was very nice and had been tastefully decorated. There was only two hangars. The hotel was very busy with a wedding and a birthday party we could not find anyone to ask for more hangars so we made do. Whilst putting clothes away in the chest of drawers it nearly toppled over, luckily my husband stopped it. It was not level on the floor. When we had the couple of days of really hot weather, we were not asked if we wanted fans for the room again there didn't seem to be anyone around. You could only open the window about 6 inches. We had booked for bed and breakfast on our first morning we were told we would have to pay for a cooked breakfast! The meals were very pricey for a limited menu. The food was never hot. The roast dinner was shocking, I had the roast beef which was two thin small slices half was fat, we had one carrot and one parsnip and for £15.95 it was an experience I would not want repeated. The waitresses did their best but they need more training on customer care. We sat waiting ages after our main course for the plates to be cleared and desert menu offered.

I, am sorry but I don't think we will be going again. It was our anniversary, and as we got married at the what was the Mackworth we booked a table service was not bad but I have had better, the food was not up to standard, we expected the food to be fantastic due to the hike in prices but sadly the chips were hard and my chicken was over cooked. We told the lady in charge of service but did not seem interested well never mind there loss.

We booked into this place despite average reviews — as we thought we'd give them a try. Turned out they'd double booked the room. They threw us out at 8pm on a Bank Holiday weekend. They found somewhere else for us to stay nearby, which they promised to pay for. I've sent three emails (every week since we stayed there). They responded to one. Ignored the other two. Really shocking service. They're clearly new to hospitality industry. But there's no excuse for the above service. Now that they're ignoring me all I can do is leave them bad reviews so that noone else makes the same mistake.

We had booked a table for 7pm and arrived on time and informed the barman that we had booked. I was asked to take a seat and wait to be escorted to our table. After waiting for 35 minutes I found the manager who told me it no one had informed him that we were there and the wait wasn't his fault. I told him we were leaving and didn't expect to pay for our drinks. We went to the Bluebell at Kirk Langley and had a good meal! While we were waiting at the Farmhouse I noticed that the staff looked fed up and not motivated. Everything seemed to be too much trouble for them, the management of this place needs to be urgently improved. I can't say whether the food was any good because we didn't get any but my G&T was nice. Marstons have spent a fortune on this place but they need a different attitude to their customers if the hotel will get to it's former glories.

What was a value place to eat but in need of redecoration is now renovated, not to mention the massively renovated food prices, whoever decided this needs to get a grip on reality. Nearby eating places should be rubbing their hands together.

Try a tribute night here. They're great fun and excellent value for money. You get a four course meal, entertainment and a late disco for around £20.

I've eaten here many times and not been disappointed at all. The staff are very professional and courteous, and the food was very good. Nice real ales.
