Review of Best Western Charleston 2*

Stayed here 8/14/18 on planned business with reservation, never stayed here before. Upon arrival at 6:30pm, front desk staff (no smile or nice greeting) young man “tried” checking me into my room. After waiting 5-10 minutes, he seemed to have “finally” found an available room 602 after hunting around for one on the computer. I proceeded to the room to quickly find it had not been cleaned yet by housekeeping (beds not made, towels laying around, lights on, etc). Bad impression. Made my way back to front desk, and same young man went back to drawing board in front desk computer searching endlessly to find another room. He seemed very confused. Several more minutes passing I asked “what the problem was” and “why he was unable to find a room”. He replied with multiple excuses about “housekeeping staff issues”, and “software issues in their computers not able to track clean rooms vs pending cleaning”. I waved to another front desk staff member who was standing out front to come help this man. After more searching he gave her 2 keys to go physically run up and check if there was an available clean room. Finally, she came back with room 212 as the clean one. I asked the young man if management was aware of these issues and he said they were. He also stated, ”housekeeping manager puts in the computer system when a room is clean, but after they leave for the day, the front desk staff is unable to tell which are clean (? ) ”. Overall room condition good/modern after finally finding a clean room (Wi-Fi was horrible) ; but seems like there are definite communication, staffing, training and potentially computer issues in this hotel. At 10pm the same front desk young man knocked on my door and said “oh sorry wrong room”. My guess is he was again walking around checking for a clean room to give another customer. So many problems with check-in process and finding a clean room on this day its not even funny. Hope management works on this issue so future customers don’t experience the same thing.
