The Beautiful Mayhurst Estate is a lovely place to get away! The owners have maintained the historic feel and provide personal customer service to make you feel at home. The architecture, the views, the comfortable beds, and the delicious breakfast are just a few reasons to book your escape to Mayhurst.

My boyfriend and I had booked a stay over Valentine’s Day weekend and it could not have been more perfect! Surrounded by breathtaking snow covered scenery it made for the coziest of weekends. I had booked the romance package and it included delicious champagne, a GORGEOUS rose bouquet and ended with the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries. While we were supposed to go wine tasting, we got hit with a pretty rough ice storm. Casey and Jason were very fast to accommodate and had served on the fly (and very scrumptious) lasagna for dinner. They also had wine at the ready! Being here was like being transported in time while also receiving a 5 star service. I 1, 000% recommend the Mayhurst Inn to anyone looking to escape.

For those who know me, know I love finding special places… The Mayhurst Inn in Orange, Va is just that. The perfect blend of old and new. This stunning plantation home has so much history and is currently being renovated with the most luxurious modern amenities. We stayed on the property in the stand alone Farmhouse Cottage with its wood burning fireplace and cozy kitchen. The property was quiet, extremely clean and perfectly secluded. Breakfast was served in the dining room just for us and it was delicious. The Cashell's are the most gracious and I felt so welcome. I highly recommend this Inn for a getaway being barely an hour from NOVA. You can follow the Mayhurst Inn and the Cashell Family as they transform the summer kitchen to their family home, renovate this beautiful estate and create an intimate wedding venue. It is a hidden gem and I feel so blessed to have experienced it.

We celebrated our anniversary this weekend in their pet friendly cottage at Mayhurst! We enjoyed our stay from beginning to end — from a warm welcome, delicious breakfast & acres of gorgeous historical landscape to enjoy ~ to a friendly couple who owns this lovely and charming property making us feel at home! If you’re looking for a peaceful place to disconnect that offers hospitality & knowledge of the history in the area then this is the place! We look forward to returning one day! (Added bonuses are being greeted by the family goats! And heading to nearby wineries! )

We had a lovely stay at the Mayhurst Inn. Jason and Casey welcomed us with such kindness and hospitality. Not only are they amazing cooks, hosts and conversationalists — but they are knowledgeable about the area and history. The estate is grand, the property is stunning and rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We visited Monticello and the Market at Grelen and highly recommend them. I’ll be coming back!

Fantastic getaway… you will love the charm of this historic home.

Just came back from the most amazing weekend here. Our hosts really outdid themselves; our days started with a beautiful view from our room. Words cannot express this enough. We saw an amazing sunrise, heard the sounds of nature and saw deer all about on the property. The house is historic and holds its own charm and many hidden treasures. Breakfast was outstanding, every morning was a new experience although I have to say that the eggs Benedict was by far the best I’ve have ever had. We were truly treated like royalty. Our hosts helped us with reservations and even helped us plan out our days adventures. I just couldn’t ask for a better experience. It really warms my heart that there are still places like this in this crazy world. Thank you Mayhurst Inn for such a lovely memory.

The best B&B I have stayed in. Pat and Jack are incredible hosts and cooks. Loved the conversation over delightful wine and a variety of artisan cheeses. Eggs benedict were the best I have had. A baked apple with simple sugar and cinnamon to boot. This is living history. Calm, quiet and beautiful. We will be back, soon.

Absolutely stunning Bed and Breakfast and the best place to host a wedding. Jack and Pat are delightful and cook a delicious breakfast. The grounds offer many beautiful places to take photos and keep your wedding day private from the public. You will not be disappointed.

The venue is beautiful and very historic. I dj'ed an event for a client and their party. I set up on a terrace. The staff was great and considerate. Hope to do business again in the future.

Awesome weekend at the Mayhurst. Pat and Jack were very accommodating, rooms were comfortable and clean. The grounds were beautiful, we loved walking the trails after breakfast every morning (which was amazing! ). We can't wait to return!

Wow oh wow. I was looking for a night away with my husband — free from the bustle of DC — and boy did the Mayhurst Inn deliver. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and offered complimentary Virginian wines and cheeses. Over this amuse-bouche, Pat described the history of the house and gave us some local tips. We told her we were thinking of eating at Forked on Main and she immediately drew out of nowhere one of their menus so we could see if it would hit the spot (pro tip — it did! … and if you really wanted to, you could walk there as it's just a mile). We stayed in Southern Charm because of the hot tub AND the fire place — and both delivered. The hot water never ran out (as it does in my house when I'm taking a bath) and the tub was deep with relaxing jets. Add a log on the fire (provided by Pat) and some wine and you're in for a romantic evening! The room was spacious and comfortable and the morning sunlight and the birds woke us up (in a good way! ). For breakfast — you will not be disappointed. First, you'll start with little scones, hot coffee, juices and a wide selection (I mean, like, 50 types! ) of tea. Then, Pat came out with a baked apple and cream — so delicious. Finally, just as we were finishing that, Jack walks out with a two plates of two Eggs Benedict with Virginia ham and a few little boiled potatoes. Talk about a real breakfast! Everything was cooked to perfection. My only slight critique would be the coffee (they serve their own Mayhurst blend — how cool!

Our fourth or fifth time here and intend to come back. Jack and Pat went above and beyond yet again with lovely wine and cheese at 5:30 and great suggestions for dinner in the area. Homemade scones and eggs Benedict one morning and fresh berries and yogurt with blueberry pancakes the next day. Chocolates and soft drinks in our room. We also visited three nearby wineries with Jack providing cards for complimentary tastings at each. Truly a wonderful place to visit!

My lovely wife and I needed a getaway to disconnect and relax. We choose the Mayhurst Inn and are so glad we did. Pat and Jack far surpassed our own high standards and made us feel at home. Everthing was wonderful and we will return.

The venue is gorgeous and one-of-a-kind. We booked all 8 rooms for family for the weekend for our wedding. Everybody enjoyed the elegant and historic rooms. Our wedding was really beautiful because of this venue. However, I had to rate this as 3 stars because our experience with the owners during the wedding was very bad. We were promised hot tea and coffee would be available for meals, but they kept the tea kettle turned off even when guests were drinking it during breakfast. Our communication with the owners was always stressful; they constantly second-guessed all of our decisions and gave pushback to whatever we — my husband, my mom, and me — said. It seemed like everything we asked for was a hassle for them: simple things such as using the dining room to prep the flowers. The biggest source of stress my entire wedding weekend was dealing with the owners. My mom even came to me while I was getting ready and expressed how much they were stressing her out. These owners turned what was a pleasant and happy experience into a high-tension situation. Also, my husband and I had a plate of food specifically set out for us at the beginning of the reception; the owners came by and ate both crab cakes sitting on the plate, without asking, leaving me with none. I never got to taste a crab cake, my own food that I paid for at my own wedding. During the wedding reception dinner, one of the owners hovered around me and my husband to the extent that it made us uncomfortable.

We fell in love with this place the first time we stayed here, so much so, that we have returned every year for at least 12 years. The Inn, itself, is steeped in historic significance. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. The Inn keepers are very gracious and accommodating. They go out of their way to make your stay memorable — from the daily wine and cheese social, suggestions for dinner with menus to browse, information for activities, wineries, etc. To the amazing breakfasts.

Beautiful mansion, historic, lovely grounds, and the best innkeepers! The food is fabulous, the hosts very accommodating and helpful. Love the evening wine and cheese gathering in the library each evening. It is a special place which we have visited now 5 times.

Mayhurst is a hidden gem. We're planning a wedding and the management has been extremely helpful.

The Mayhurst has incomparable history, relaxing atmosphere, and two generous hosts who know how to balance their guests' privacy with need for assistance. The breakfast is delicious and the wine and cheese is nice. The area has good restaurants and nearby Montpelier and Charlottesville have plenty of sites to enjoy. The Mayhurst is an ideal place for a romantic weekend getaway or a week long vacation to explore Virginia's rich history.

We had quite an enjoyable weekend at the Mayhurst Inn. We were greeted with fine wine and cheese and pleasant conversation on the evening that we arrived. We were invited to join them each evening of our stay. The enthralling stories shared with us about the Inn's history were delightful. The furnishings were beautiful antiques and quite comfortable. We greatly admired their antique collections and artwork. Our room was beautiful, very comfortable and impeccably clean. Our gourmet breakfasts were expertly prepared, elegantly served and delicious. Our hosts were friendly and helpful with suggestions and directions. We enjoyed our stay and will certainly stay there again when we return.

Iattemended a bridal shower. The room for the shower was great with an outdoor patio. The innkeepers were very helpful. Only reason 4 stars is that I did not go in one of the bedrooms.

Fantastic place! I'm not big on B&B's, but we live a couple of hours away and wanted to get away for a night, near Va wine country, and Mayhurst was great! The estate is only a fraction of it's original size, but still large enough to have some trails and nice things to look at, in addition to the BEAUTIFUL architecture of the house, the wonderful history behind it, and most importantly, the great hospitality of the couple who runs it. I'm sorry I don't remember their names, but they were absolutely grand. Both knowledgeable about the estate history and surrounding attractions and restaurants, as well as good conversationalists during the 5pm-ish wine and cheese gathering. And the most wonderful breakfast I have had at any place I've ever stayed. Had our own private bathroom, and a separate sitting room with a TV, and never were annoyed by other visitor noises or squeaky floors. As a "B&B avoider", I highly recommend Mayhurst!
