We LOVED our time at the Holladay House and highly recommend it. The owners were fabulous, the food was great, the house was historically accurate, and the house cat was gracious. We’d definitely stay there again.

Sam is the perfect host and chef. We got lucky and were the only guests the one night we stayed. Sam brought me his last Virgil’s root beer, which was awesome, right up to our room. His crustless quiche, buttermilk biscuits, elderberry jam and fried peach were all homemade and were perfect for celebrating my 14th wedding anniversary with my husband. Highly recommended!

Sam is a warm host. Looking forward to meeting Sharon. This town feels different than the average… yet positive vibes. It's going to be a great weekend.

Sharon and Sam were not only excellent hosts at a wonderful bed and breakfast but they went above and beyond in making sure that our wedding day went perfectly. My wife and I consider ourselves very lucky to have come across the Holladay House as it turned out to be the perfect place to have such an important moment in our lives. We both recommend Holladay House with the highest regards.

Staying at the Holladay House was such a pleasure. It was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and the service and the house itself blew us away for Valentine's Day weekend. Sam and Sharon were very welcoming and always made sure we had everything we needed. Not to mention the amazing two-course breakfast every morning that we could not get enough of, there were complimentary beverages, such as tea and wine, and chocolate chip cookies that really just enhanced an already wonderful experience. Definitely would recommend staying here, as I know we plan to again soon!

Sharon and Sam makes our stay so warm and welcoming. The endless supply of good coffee and chocolate chip cookies are a favorite treat. Sharon is such a fabulous cook—every time we go there we are excited about the breakfast.

My family just spent 2 nights at Holladay House for a Wedding Vow Renewal ceremony. The house is beautiful, historical, interesting. Sharon and Sam were very friendly and accommodating. The toiletries were all natural and made in Orange. The breakfasts were delicious and included fresh, local fruit every day. All of the food was made with local ingredients. Our party had some dietary needs and they were still able to eat very good, filling meals. Sharon also made cookies and there was coffee, tea, bottled water, and local wine and beer all complimentary for us. There are a lot of books, DVDs, and board games to use (my family played boggle in the parlor and had a great time). The linens were clean, the beds were comfortable, robes in every room, plenty of hot water, not a lot of noise (the rooms are very soundproof having super thick walls and solid wood doors). We were in walking distance to good restaurants, a park, a museum, antique shops, and a pharmacy. We also enjoyed exploring the historical train station and waving to the passenger trains. There is a trolley you can ride and everyone we met in town was friendly. Sharon set up a winery tour for us with a "party bus" so we did not have to drive. We need to go back as we didn't get to see everything we wanted to in the 3 days we were there. I really can't praise this place enough — it is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it!

Love, love, love. What a fantastic stay at the most quaint location. Sharon's attention to detail and warm nature made this a very fulfilling experience. From accommodating our group for a beautiful vowel renewal, to delicious breakfasts with a unique flair, we loved every moment of our stay. We especially loved all the special touches including all the local and homemade foods. She truly does not miss a beat.

Amazing bed and breakfast with amazing rooms and even more amazing owners. They go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome and at home. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone! I can't wait to come back. They have made our first trip to Virginia the most amazing experience!

First and foremost this could not have been a better place to take my wonderful wife for her birthday. The accomodations were more than adequate and the service was beyond awesome. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Me and my wife would like to take the time to thank Sharon and Sam for their help in providing a wonderful experience for us. Holladay House is a beautiful location inside and out and Sharon and Sam are the most delightful hosts! Everything about our first (and hopefully not last) stay was absolutely perfect, from the most delicious breakfasts to our gorgeous and comfortable suite to Sharon's always-friendly help in planning our local outings. A perfect place for a romantic getaway!

My fiancee and I stayed at the Holladay House on a last minute weekend getaway. The grind of work and life was getting to us, and we needed an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our visit to the Holladay House was absolutely incredible. Sharon and Sam are wonderful innkeepers. The house itself is a wonderful piece of history that has been beautifully maintained. Breakfast was prepared fresh for us each morning, and Sharon uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. From the poached pears, to the apples with elderberry syrup, to the creme brulee french toast and the crust-less quiche, everything we sampled was absolutely incredible. If you stay here, be sure to tell Sharon or Sam about your plans for your stay, they have a stash of coupons and discounts that they can get you. I truly can't say enough about how wonderful the house is, how kind and attentive Sharon and Sam are, and how amazing our stay was. Whenever we're in or around Orange, we will be sure to stay at the Holladay House.

Stayed here for an anniversary weekend. Very charming B&B. Our room was very comfortable and each breakfast was absolutely delicious. Sharon is a lovely innkeeper that made our stay wonderful. Also has many discounts for various places as well as cute packages to add to your to do list while visiting.

We had our elopement ceremony here in November and it was a wonderful experience. Sharon, the innkeeper, facilitated all of the details and made it a truly remarkable experience. The venue was very intimate and the mini-moon suite that we chose was fantastic. The staff is very friendly and make it a personal experience. All of the food and beverages are local grown. I would definitely recommend Holladay House to my friends.

Perfect BnB experience. Friendly proprietors, delicious food, comfy accommodations, and a shower with instant hot water and plenty of water pressure. One of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had and breakfast was to die for with mostly local items.

Sharon was very hospitable and made the stay easy for us. Even allowing a late check in after being stuck in DC traffic. The house is nicely updated but has much of the charm from its roots. The breakfasts were both amazing! We had a quiche with bacon crust the first morning which was perfectly seasoned. The sides were fruit and cornmeal scones with our choice of pear or grape jelly, both homemade and delicious. Many pictures of this dish in the picture section. The second morning we had creme brulee french toast (amazing), bacon and fruit. Coffee was wonderful and you also had your choice of cranberry or OJ. The cons to the place are that the floors are exceedingly creeky so if you're planning to be out late everyone will hear you arrive back. The mattress was a standard hotel style and nothing to write home (or online) about.

Our first time in a B&B and I'm so glad I chose this one! Ron and I got married here last month and it was perfect. Sharon is wonderful and amazing and she and Sam took very good care of us… right down to snapping a few photos of our little group. :) Our room was lovely and so comfortable and the food was delicious! Everything was taken care of beautifully (including the most fabulous fowers and wedding cake! ) and I would highly recommend the H. House for anyone looking for an elopement or just a relaxing getaway! I can see why they consistently get such great reviews!

My husband and I just eloped at the Holladay House Bed and Breakfast and everything was perfect. They have an affordable package that included the stay there, delicious breakfast, the room for the wedding, the officiant, the cake, sparkling cider, flowers, and pictures, and some props to use in pictures if you want. Sharon was a pleasure to work with and took care of everything. The bed and breakfast was very nice and quaint. It has all the charm and character of an older place but is completely updated to modern standards. This is a great place to elope and have a simple, but really nice, wedding. I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about eloping or staying in Orange, Virginia.

Can't rate this place highly enough. Have stayed here several times and it always has excellent service and breakfast! The owners are incredibly nice and helpful, and they can set up or recommend plenty of things to do in the area. The rooms are cozy and well-kept. The owners go above and beyond what you'd expect of them, and I will certainly return to stay here again someday.

First off, Sharon and Sam are absolutely the best inn-keepers I've ever met! Beyond hospitable and so very personable, they made every interaction pleasant and comfortable. The house is beautiful and they've done a great job on the decor; just the right balance of old and new with tasteful decorations for the holidays when we stayed. Our room, the Oak Room, was quite large and everything worked perfectly. The bed was comfy and the pillows quite nice. The food was amazing as well and all prepared from scratch. I seriously did not get served anything that was less than 4-star quality. The only, and I mean only negative, is that the floor creaks something awful. But, that's the price you pay for putting a B&B in an historic house.

My husband and I visited this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We were beyond pleased! Leading up to our visit, Sharon was so kind and helpful regarding places to visits/dinner reservations/etc. Our room (the Holladay Hideaway) was beautiful. Breakfast was delicious! The coffee is AMAZING! The location is great and the cute little down was decorated so beautifully. My husband commented that it was like being in a Hallmark Christmas Movie! There wasn't a thing I would have changed. HIGHLY recommend this Inn.

Lovely Bed and Breakfast, easy to find, the Innkeeper arranged our wedding and dinner reservations perfectly. Our breakfast was delicious, the house is a delight to stay in and I'm very sure my wife and I will be returning.

Had a wonderful time at Holladay House. Spent a weekend there while we explored a part of Virginia that was not too familiar to us. The owners, Sam and Sharon, werre very hospitable and attentive to our needs. The room we stayed in was very cozy and clean. The inn's location in Orange was within walking distance of several restaurants and shops that we patronized. Breakfast served was wonderful, and the complimentary chocolate chip cookies were to die for. Would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I stayed at the Holladay House, actually that's where we got married, we couldn't have chosen a better place, the owner Sharon was above and beyond, it couldn't have been better, the ambiance, the decor, the place itself is justone in a million, the rooms are beautiful not to mention breakfast in the mornings, it was way above our expectations, from the start to the end was great, she made us feel sooooooo special, holladay house the place to be, weddings, get away, it's on key!

My husband and I spent three nights here for our one year anniversary recently and had the best time! Sharon, Sam and the rest of the staff are so friendly and inviting. They really made us feel at home. Breakfast was made fresh every morning and absolutely delicious. Sharon had fresh cookies, tea and complimentary wine set out during the day that my husband and I would enjoy while sitting out on the porch. They also made reservations for us at different places around the area and were just so helpful during our entire stay. The whole experience was simply wonderful and if I could give this Bed and Breakfast a 10, I would! I can't say enough good things about this place. The wine tour package is a must! We had the best time and look forward too many more stays at this historic and quaint little B&B! Thanks so much Sharon and Sam! You are awesome.

The Holladay House is the epitome of Southern hospitality. It is comfortable and charming giving every attention to detail to make your stay a pleasant one. The breakfasts are nothing short of amazing.

Stayed in the John Madison Suite for a friends wedding. Amazing house, amazing staff, and not to say amazing again, but amazing breakfast. Glad we get a second night here.

We spent our honeymoon here and it was the most pleasant experience from the moment I made the reservation. The owner Sharon Elswick is pleasant, funny, hospitable, knowledgable and an awesome cook! The food is farm to table fresh. She is great at helping you plan your day. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast! The Urbina's.

We stayed 4 nights at Holladay House in October and our family filled every room for 2 nights. The historic house is immaculate and cozy. Breakfasts are outrageously tasty! Sharon keeps her delicious homemade baked goodies and coffee and tea always available. Lovely going to bed with peppermint tea and a cookie every night! The beds are comfy and everyone slept very well. Sharon is a superstar inn keeper. She knows all the tourist spots of interest and she is well connected with all the local resources. We were in Orange for our son's wedding and Sharon did everything she could to help and more.

We selected the Holladay House because of the elopement service and location. We were thrilled with our selection! We decided to elope because our families don't live in the area, we didn't want the hassle of planning something and frankly did not want to spend a ton of money on a wedding. Sharon was wonderful and very helpful with making the wedding arrangements. We felt like we had our own wedding planner! We purchased the Traditional Elopement Service and loved the room in which we were married, the house itself, and the James Madison Suite. So relaxing to chill out on the side porch or the suite, we really didn't want to leave. Breakfast was yummy too. Overall, a great experience, we are so happy with our choice and Sharon helped to make everything go so smoothly.
