Beds are incredibly uncomfortable, could not sleep in. Shower doesn't drain well, stood in a half a foot of water. Breakfast is okay, eggs, muffins, bagels, yogurt, 2 cereal choices (raisin Bran and frosted flakes), oj and apple juice, waffle maker, apples and oranges, coffee is good. Hardwood floors are nice, felt clean. TV and internet are pretty good. (Edited to correct a typo)

This was a typical motel. Lots of other motels around but the other clientele was a bit shady. Room was clean. Service was okay. Breakfast was a typical cereal and toast. Not bad. Just okay.

I have stayed at this Red Roof Inn numerous times. It is always my first choice in Charlottesville. The rooms are always clean and smell good. The non-smoking rooms do not smell like old smoke. The beds and pillows are comfy. The water pressure is strong and temperature stays hot. The friendly, helpful staff are always accomodating. The location is perfect. It's close enough to UVA without the noise and traffic. There are many shops and restaurants nearby. It is pet friendly and economical. The room with the jacuzzi is my favorite!

For a budget hotel, this Red Roof Inn stay was bang for our buck. We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel room was clean, facilities all worked well, and the surroundings quiet. The air conditioner worked great in our room (necessary for us northerners sweltering in the Virginia not-quite-summer heat). The location was great too! We felt like we were never more than 10 minutes from places we needed to be. Also, the hotel is close to some great restaurants, a Trader Joe’s, and a Whole Foods! What got me was how good breakfast was for a budget hotel. I was expecting danishes and fruit. What I got was make your own waffles, and damn delicious biscuits and gravy along with danishes and fruit. I was a happy full person the mornings we were there. Definitely would stay again if I were in the area!

This place… sucked. Stayed with a friend of mine on the 18th when my car broke down, when I woke up I was covered in bed bug bites. The room wasn’t ugly, I would rate it a 3 maybe but given the fact that I’m covered in bed bug bites I’m gonna have to guarantee I will never go here again. Only reason I did was because days inn was booked. on top of this. I have been trying to call and speak with a manager for nearly a week and just been given a run around as to when a manager will be in or “yeah we left a note” but getting no call back. This place is a joke.

Affordable clean and a jacuzzi room. There's also the best Chinese place right next door that has a banging lunch special. Nothing fancy though.

Horrible experience. When we walked into our non-smoking "deluxe" room, it reeked of cigarette smoke. Everything was old, tacky, and musty, but we accepted it all as we were only staying for one night. However, when I went to use the restroom, I found water leaking from the bottom of the toilet and the toilet seat/lid completely unattached from the rest of the toilet. When my boyfriend went to see about changing rooms at this point, we were told they were all booked for the evening and that they would have a repair man check it out. The repairman informed us they would have to remove the whole toilet to fix the leak and so in the meantime they just placed a towel on the ground to soak up the water for the night. It was disgusting, but there was nothing we could do as they claimed to have no other available rooms. Later the front desk lady called our room to ask if we would like a room "freshener" to help with the smell. We accepted and she came to the room and handed us a bottle of Febreeze… Beyond that the water pressure was horrible, the ceiling of the shower way too low, and there were a plethora of weird stains on the shower curtain… Needless to say we will never be going back and would not recommend anyone else visit this location either.

I am always greeted with a smile. I experienced a heart attack a few months ago and the staff was more than helpful and I am eternally grateful. My room is always clean, cozy, and inviting. I try to stay there everytime I am in the area.

Read decent reviews but actual experience was far short of expectations. First: The lobby looked like it was bombarded when we checked in (there was a sign on the door "forgive our mess"). Second: The non-smoking room that we got was in-between smoking rooms and smelled bad. Upon complaining we got another non-smoking room Third: Housekeeping removed the dirty towels, emptied the trash cans but did nothing else; we had to complain so we were given a fresh set of towels so WE can place them where they were supposed to be. Eventually the room was properly serviced. Fourth: The shower valve was improperly connected so all the way to the left (H sign) was chilly cold water; we had to analyze the problem so we found out that if one wanted hot water they needed to dial cold! Otherwise breakfast was decent, the people who were responsible for it were super nice trying to please us. If anyone doesn't mind the little things (see above) be my guest. Have a nice stay!

Awful. To begin with, it's an awful location, jammed in the back corner lot behind a Day's Inn and another hotel as an after-thought, or maybe as the old original on that spot, and I do mean OLD. Everything was run-down. They through down new 'hardwood' on the floors, and everything else is old and awful. The lobby is on the very backside of the building and was torn apart and under construction. We were afraid to touch anything in the room. The lights all wobbled, the bathroom faucet had all these bumpy patches all over it, the smoke detector luckily waited until the morning to begin making a hideous scary noise we could never have slept through. The room was really in awful condition. I was afraid to pull back the sheets of the 'luxury' bed I paid extra for but thankfully didn't find anything scary. We were there for a concert at the Arena and didn't spend much time in the room, luckily, and got up and left in the morning as soon as we could. Much as I usually appreciate Red Roof, I would absolutely not ever stay at this particular one again or recommend it unless they do a complete and total gut and rebuild.

It was nice and clean but the people were kinda rude. No microwave safe bowls in the microwave. But otherwise it was okay.

I made a reservation online for two nights, December 27 and 28, 2017. Google Maps had a former location that had been demolished and was now a parking lot. I called the hotel, they were aware. It was not up to the quality represented in the ads. And, they should not have been renting this room out. The bedding was fresh and the bathroom was refurbished and clean. But, that night when the heat pump compressor came on it sounded like a big noisy machine starting up. Too late and cold to move to another room. The smoke detector had a plastic bag tied around it, maybe to mask previous smoking? The TV cabinet was water damaged exposing the wood composite underneath. I was visiting family nearby, so I knew I was only in the room to bathe and sleep. So, I did not bother about another room. But, it was not up to the quality represented in ads. And, should not have been being used.

As all red roof, this one is decent, pretty clean but not much. The breakfast was nothing, very poor, we had it outside the hotel. Besides that, you got what you paid for. Not bad.

The room was clean and to our satisfaction. My boyfriend, who I stayed with there, had left a special pillow in the room and they were kind enough to ship it to him. It is much appreciated!

I have never stayed at a Red Roof before. It is a nice clean room. Bedding smells smokey and air conditioner is not great but no carpet, hardwood floors is such a big plus.

$74.99 a night on the website, but, would not take a reservation over the phone. In person, at the front desk, suddenly it's $175 a night, and, it's a smoking room. Sorry, we're not taking the bait and switch. Plus, still sketchy, even after the renovation.

Renovated, great TV, good breakfast, clean, and a great price! Very happy with my stay!

I’ll preface by saying UVA had a football game the weekend I stayed which is how I ended up here. Options were limited so I got stuck paying for this overpriced room ($130! ). Could only handle one night in this gross place before something opened up at the hotel across the street and moved. Building is old and outdated looking. Visible signs of wear and tear on furniture in room — needs replacing. Exterior doors are very thin and don’t provide much in terms of sound or weather proofing for your room which was especially inconvenient when our neighbors decided to hang out on the balcony until 1am drinking beers. Beds uncomfortable/mysterious stain on comforter. Shower didn’t drain well at all. Breakfast was low budget but ok. And to top it all off I had to pass a used condom in the stairwell every time I came and went from my room. Disgusting.

Have stayed here 2x. No weird smells, gross carpeting, or unwanted critters. Beds and bathroom appear clean. Coffe and fridge in room. Continental breakfast could be better but staff is friendly and they don't give you grief about your pets. Grassy area available for walking the dog. Easy check in and check out. Lots of steps to climb.

It was good for the money. It wasn't the Ritz but a lot better than most. It's a dated building but has a lot of upgrades. I did like the floors, better than carpet! The lady at the desk at check in and out wasn't mean but definitely could have been friendlier. Over all I'd stay again with out hesitation.

I don't know how long ago these people made these bad reviews but here in May 2017 this motel is pretty sweet. Nice room, staff was pleasant, hooked me up with military discount, and the location is right next to some great restaurants. I thought is was going to be roach infested and smelling like cigarettes and it doesn't. Sorry ya'll experience sucked but I like it. For the price too I ain't complaining. If it's as bad as everyone says it was I think they read it and stepped their game up. Satisfied customer here AND NO I ain't no staff member.

It's OK to stay while I work. I wouldn't want to take my family there because it's occupied by mostly construction workers. The maid services are poor also.

Filthy and in complete disrepair. Located in Charlottesville on Holiday Dr. The service seemed to not care that there was dirty towels and used soaps in the shower from another guest and refused until I got irate with him to discount the cost and only discounted $20.

Took us in at the last minute on the busiest night of the year. Thanks for a great, comfortable visit. The coffee flows freely, and you'll come back for the in room spa.

Clean, spacious room and a continental breakfast for a reasonable price. What more could be asked for.

We got there late and it seemed intimidating but in daylight it's not as scary looking. Definitely not a 5 star hotel but it will do for a quick stay.

Made a reservation on Priceline for a King. Got there and they told me they only had Double, they've 'been over-booked all day. ' They wanted to charge me King rate for Double. After I complained, they agreed to give Double for Double rate, but said I had to call priceline to cancel. So I had to spend 30 minutes waiting on hold just to cancel so I could get the proper rate. What a waste of time.

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with. The rooms were very clean. It was a very relaxing experience and the price was affordable. I'll go back there.

Don't stay here. It's dirty. We were there 1 night last week. Starting the following day I began breaking out in bug bites. One arm is covered and there are bites on my legs and other arm. I strongly suspect bed bugs.

Manager or desk clerk, whatever he was, was rude. Supposedly a new location, but how long ago. Good thing it was unseasonably warm because when trying to take the chill out of the room, the heater made so much noise you couldn't have ran it all night. Elevator was iffy. Can say that the rooms were clean.

I called on my way into Charlottesville asking for a king room. Benhiem says yes they have one so I book it. Really excited. Check in to find a double bed instead of a king. When I confront Benhiem he starts repeating sir I told you it was a double room. Anyway, along with that, the room was very out of date. It was clean and didn't smell musty like many older hotels, but it may be time for a tear down and rebuild on the building as well as the front desk staff.
