We stayed here while my wife was going through Gamma knife at the University. These people were very professional. I mean every person that we came in contact with from driver to management were kind courteous and professional. I would recommend this place to anyone. They went over and above with us. We stayed here w family friends as we went to tour the UVA campus for two of our children. Stay was great. Room was clean. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, after we returned home we realized that my youngest daughter had left behind her beloved stuffed panda in the room. The housekeeping director was able to locate it and she shipped it back to our house. Thank you so much for going the extra mile.

My son left his favorite kitty in the bed here. The hotel found it in the wash and mailed it back for free! So thankful! What great customer service!

Whenever I travel I prefer to stay at Hampton Inn. This time was no different until we checked out. Before I get there, the room was excellent, comfortable, affordable, and the service was friendly and amenable. We stayed for one night and used the breakfast bar in the morning. It had a wide selection of hot alternatives including waffles, scrambled eggs with sausage, and sliced smoked brats. You could heat/toast biscuits and bread. Also included we're cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, and juice. The coffee was hot and made fresh. The two ladies who kept the bar going were polite and very attentive to all of the customers for the full 4 hours. I also used the fully functional fitness room for an hour last night. It has an elliptical, a state of the art treadmill, stationary bike, weight bench, a full set of weights, and a couple of machines. I've stayed at this Hampton Inn often over the last 10 years. Now to the checkout. We left our room at 8am. My wife checked out while I went to get the car. I found a printed sheet under the windshield wiper warning me of the towing of my vehicle if I left it there any longer. When I got my wife I asked her if she had either been asked about a car or signed the usual notice with license plate number when she checked in to which she replied "Neither". Soooo, we came close to having our car towed out of the lot because the check-in had not been done accurately. We will return here next time we come but double checking as we go.

Arrived around 4pm, no coffee, no typical Hilton/Hampton amenities. Room was dirty, bathroom vent caked with lint. Front desk had almost no info about local places to eat. HVAC unit was positioned right next to desk so it was extremely uncomfortable to do work. Car was backed into in the parking lot damaging both my tail lights and scraping some paint — management refused to release security camera footage and claimed they were not at fault for any damages. By far the worst stay in a hotel in the past 10 years. Breakfast was spartan, baked goods were obviously stale, hot foods were overcooked and bordering on cold by 8:30. Coffee was at least fresh and hot by this time. All in all I would drive the short distance to Staunton and stay at the Hampton there — the staff actually cares about that facility.

Excellent service, room was already cooled off when we got there and very clean. We had our newborn transferred to the hospital across the street and when we called and told them what happened they gave us a discount. Don't worry we never heard a siren all night.

Great experience, would definitely stay again. Checked-in online so all I had to do was show ID and pick up the key; took less than a minute. We stayed 4 nights for a leisure trip and had absolutely no issues. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. The lobby and suite were extremely clean. Housekeeping does an excellent job. The AC was perfect — we were able to keep the room exactly at the temperature we like, which is sometimes a challenge in a hotel. Bed was comfortable, no issues sleeping. I would've liked one more pillow option, aside from the super flat and then the too fluffy, but nothing to complain about. The TV was a little small and dated, but who cares? We weren't there to watch television. This hotel is consistently pricier than all the other Hilton brand hotels in Cville, but it's because of the convenient location. We walked everywhere, including the downtown mall. It was about a 15 minute walk, which seems like nothing when the weather is nice. Tons of food options right outside the front door. Ample lighting and space in the parking lot, just be sure to get a slip for your car window since parking is for hotel guests only. Free coffee and tea just like other Hampton Inns, but this location keeps everything stocked, hot, clean and fresh. The breakfast is also much better than most complimentary buffet style breakfasts. Many options, definitely something for everyone.

Pretty good hotel with a courteous and helpful staff. Thanks for the cookies, teas and coffees! The "buffet" breakfast was pretty good with an array of options (hot and cold food options). If you ever want food from a nearby restaurant there are plenty of grub hub delivery options or you can walk to quite a few places within only a block radius. The hotel was cleaned around the clock and has a nice exterior/parking lot as well. Comfortable beds and pillows, TVs could definitely use an upgrade though. Excellent location. Free shuttle for around town. Took it to the downtown predestrian mall for dinner and the back to hotel. Good breakfast. Room was on the 5th floor and quiet. Room was very clean. No safe in the room. Newspapers in the lobby. Small snack shop next to the front desk. Local maps available at the desk.

Nice clean newer hotel close by many different social activities restaurants beer at cetera I really enjoy this place and I'll stay here more often.

I requested King bed, and got a nice suite with a King bed. The room was spacious and comfortable. Blackout curtains were quite effective. Staff was courteous and accommodating. Will definitely consider staying here again in the future.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hampton-University location. Staff could not have been more helpful, beds VERY comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. It was a great place to stay!

Great location near the hospital. Very friendly staff, solid breakfast provided, and on-site parking available. Walkable distance to a number of restaurants and stores.

Rooms are always clean and the staff is always friendly. They are there to provide assistance in any way possible. Location is great, as many bars and restaurants are in walking distance.

The important differences between an economy hotel and a Hampton Inn are mattress quality, linen quality, and helpfulness of staff. When I checked in, they didn't have any cookies. Now I know this seems stupid, but it's a Hampton Inn. They're supposed to have cookies. It's what they do. Cookies and coffee. All the time. Then the linen is more like sandpaper. I don't know what they do to it, but its awful. The staff is really not that helpful. Nice, but not that helpful.

Ok so where do I begin.
My family checked into the hotel on Thursday 9/28 but my mom officially checked on 9/29 due to my father being in critical condition. My father, was halo flown to UVA Hospital on Thursday from Newport News. Before our arrival my brother had already made his reservations but the rest of us had not, the wonderful people at the front desk had 3 more rooms for us, which 2 were suites. Our rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. We didn't spend alot of time in our room but when we were there, we were very content. Deborah, Gary, Melissa, Lenora and all the ladies and gentlemen at the front desk were absolutely amazing. They give the best recommendations fir restaurants. The drivers were Roger, Ralph and Curtis they were absolutely amazing as well, they made so many runs to the hospital to pick us up and drop us off they never ever made us feel like were being a nuisance, these gentle-men so kind as pray for our father and for that we eternally grateful. Trudy, the manager from housekeeping was so kind as offer us pillows to take home so our father would comfortable on the trip home, upon his release. (I wish had gotten some of those amazing pillows). The gentlemen that did our housekeeping was named Mann, he was so helpful and kept our room with fresh towels and whatever else we needed. Poor Mann, he was probably confused because we never would leave our beds unmade they were always made up before he would come in. Lol.

Clean establishment, courteous staff, and very accommodating. You could choose allot worse if you're looking for a place to stay in Charlottesville.

Hotel itself is just fine. However, if you like to or NEED to workout early be prepared to not do so until 6am. I workout at 5am & could not get into the gym & no staff could let me in. I would not stay here again because of that.

Clean, great with our group. Best check in weve ever had as a group. Main campus is close and walkable.

Enjoyed everything. Location was great, near good food spots. The size and cleanliness of the room was on point. I enjoyed the breakfast as well. The free cookies were a nice touch. Parking was easy to find. Room service was good when it came on time. The staff were kind and friendly as well.

This Hampton Inn is very clean and efficient. Good location in the booming Main Street/ University area of Charlottesville. Rooms have a microwave and a nice fridge. Of course coffees and teas always available. Not a resort but a pleasant outdoor seating area.

It was a wonderful experience. The decor was festive for Christmas. The staff were all very pleasant and courteous. The room was immaculate. The continental breakfast was wonderful. I highly recommend staying there.

My fiancé and I stayed here last night on our trip to Charlottesville to see WVU play UVA in basketball. The young man on the desk last night was super nice and helpful. The room was also really nice. The reason I only gave 2 stars was housekeeping started knocking on our door around 830 am, which wasn't a problem until we had to yell 3 times that we were still in the room to get them to stop knocking. Then around 10 am they came knocking again and once again w had to say 3 or 4 times that we were still in the room to get them to leave. I know housekeeping is only doing their job and I can understand the 10 am check but 830 seemed kind of like they were rushing us out a bit. If you want a nice place to sleep with some repeated morning annoyances this is your place.

People here are friendly. It's in a descently safe part of town. They have been helpful in getting g my wife to appointments at U. V. A and they have a good breakfast, "thanks to the cook, " with a variety to choose from such as omelets, potatoes, gravy, bagels, cereal and all the juices you could want.

Interesting hotel. I really enjoyed the chairs and the table cloth. Nothing bad about this fine establishment.

Perfect location to visit the UVA ground and explore history of TJ's university.

My 5 star post was below, but here is what happened since. Was chared full ammount of room I was supposed to get. Also had that I was staying in the correct room on my recipt 530. I was actually in room 130. It was supposed to be comped. I was told it would be. Here was my 5 star post — Will stay here every chance I get when visiting charlottesville. When we arrived, they had our reservation messed up. We did not get the room we booked but we were taken care of promptly and hassle free. Everyone makes mistakes (ours was probably a system error) and it is how they are handled is what makes the difference. Customer service is key and wins me over. If you are the same this is a great place. Thank you Trudey and company.

The hotel and the room itself is quite lovely, but my issue is that I was double billed for my stay and have been having a terrible time getting that issue resolved. I booked the room through priceline, and then after I left they charged me a second time. I called once and the helpful attendant said that he would issue a refund but that it may take up to 72 hours. Five days later, when the refund had not arrived, I called again. The second person wasn't as helpful. Seemed to have a hard time even finding my reservation (asked for confirmation number twice), and suggested that I should look into it with priceline before transferring me to his manager who wasn't available. Even if they do refund the charges, this has certainly been more trouble than it was worth. Unfortunate, because my actual stay was pleasant.

Great room and good free breakfast.

The rooms were great! Big huge beds and a good hospitable southern receptionist who treated me like family. I really enjoyed the stay here. Breakfast was average but there are plenty of places to grab a bite around.

We booked a suite since we needed to sleep 5 people. Considering the price, I would say that it was definitely worth the price! We had two doubles and a sofa bed and there was plenty of space for 5 people. The free breakfast was decent for the price and even though the hotel wasn't walking distance to Downtown Charlottesville, there's a free trolley to downtown. This hotel is walking distance to the Amtrak station and a couple of restaurants near that area too. Great brand and a hotel that has an excellent value for its price!

They have a very efficient free shuttle service till 11pm. You can go to down town shopping centre or to a movie without a hassle of transport problem. Very good and friendly staff.

Clean, fresh, and friendly. We will be back.

There are the loudest garbage trucks I have ever heard that spend half an hour at 4:30 in the morning picking up the trash next door. It completely ruined my sleep and was unacceptable.

I’m a frequent traveler and stay mostly at a Hampton Inn because I like the chain. This site in particular has a few mitigating circumstances that caused me to rate it below par: Lots of surrounding construction: • The street in front of the hotel is being modified, lots of dust and gravel everywhere • Mid-rise dormitory adjacent to the hotel under construction, lots of noise due to their machinery and workers • Hotel parking lot has a contractor drilling holes in the asphalt • Third Floor of the hotel appears to be under renovation Many Local shops around the hotel are closed, perhaps due to the end of the college season The hotel is a little older and the floor I stayed on needed to be updated, but was not dirty or in bad shape. Positives: The hotel lobby and common areas are great The room bedding, TV, refrig, desk and furniture are typical upscale Hampton Inn The staff is very willing to relocate you away from the floor renovation and away from the outside construction noise,,, but you need to request that move. Before I book another stay at this site, I will check on the construction progress, which I hope will be over by fall. Regards and Safe Travels Robert.

Did you ever think a std motel room with the same noisy window A/C unit would go for $179 a nite? I mean it's just another motel room, small, nothing fancy, clean and all, updated furnishings, etc. But this is way overpriced. We used 30k Hilton points per nite. Great location — can walk to everything of interest. Motel does a lot of business with university guests. Maybe UVA is subsidizing some guests.

The location is great! You can walk to the University and to the mall. Many great restaurants and vintage book stores close by too. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Our children loved the morning breakfasts. We found the afternoon snacks to be fun and creative — a welcome treat when coming off the road from traveling for many hours. The employees were wonderful and very helpful. The night time staff were great with making suggestions on where to visit. Stanley was helpful at letting us know know where to walk and the approximate time it would take to get there. Definitely would stay there again.

This was by far the best hotel accomodations we have ever encountered anywhere. Thanks to Trudy at the desk and Glenn, our personal driver our stay in Charlottesville turned into a real vacation. Trudy was the most professional and personable clerk we have met. She went beyond her call of duty to make this hotel a ten star in our book. Glenn was remarkable and so courteous and dependable. He was ready on a second's notice to drive us anywhere anytime day and night. When we needed picked up from our destination he was there with bells on! These two employees made our stay one we will always remember. They were both so gracious. Rooms were spotless all the days we were there. Couldn't ask for anything more! Thank you Trudy and Glenn for being so exceptional. This North Carolina gang will always appreciate you both.
