Really nice rooms! Newly remodeled! Looks similar to a $250 a night hotel in Seattle. Great price, great service, and clean rooms.

Holiday Inn Express now. 180% difference. You have to see it to believe it.

The hotel is under construction right now, but I feel it really has potential and should be a really nice hotel in the future. The room has a nice big TV, nice comfortable beds, USB plug-ins everywhere for all your devices. I would give the room 4 stars for sure.

This is just a review based on my personal experience at this specific location in Tacoma. Upon arrival it was already late and the check in process was pretty easy however I noticed a little bit of remodeling in the lobby area. As we were making our way to our room, there was dry wall, paint etc in the hallway right in front of our room. Did not look safe at all and did not appreciate being over charged for a place that looked like it should've been shut down for a short period while remodeling. Every time I think of this place, the only thing that comes to mind is FIRE HAZARD & after paying $100 you would think you'd at least get some kind of complimentary breakfast but the only thing that was offered was coffee. Definitely NOT coming back here anymore.

Just awful. Here at this moment, awake at 3 am. Walls paper thin, beds are uncomfortable. I can fully hear a conversation going on a few doors away from me at 3am! One of the wash clothes looked like it was used for cleaning, very dingy. I am a seasoned traveler and Motel 6 or Econolodge would have been better choices. I will say the girl at the Front desk was very nice. Over all I will never stay here again. My night may have been more peaceful and comfortable in my car at a rest area, with big trucks.

The hotel is in complete shambles and disarray. It is almost entirely under construction. There is construction debree and dry wall dust all over. You can see into rooms piles of old furniture. The room was fine and appeared clean. However both rooms we were given had doors that would close without lifting them, they were out of line. It appears it will be a very long time before this hotel is back to presentable shape. I am a bit surprised they aren't just closed due to all the construction and renovations. There is furniture old and maybe new for the rooms everywhere in hall ways and stacked in open rooms. I would not feel safe having my kids run around unattended in the hall ways. It all just needs a lot of work.

Not as good as usual as they are doing a major remodel right now. I would normally give them five stars. The breakfast is still there and opens early enough to get to a job on time. I'm a loyalty member and they always make me feel special when I arrive. The rooms are roomy and comfortable.

Do not stay here. Upon booking the reservation there was no information provided to inform me that renovations were being performed. I arrived at the hotel around 1 in the morning with my seven week old infant and 18 month old toddler. Upon arrival it was pouring down rain and covered parking to unload the vehicle. The employees had no idea what was going on. It appeared that they were using a paper system to keep track of what rooms were occupied or being renovated. The first room had the flooring pulled up, no door on the bathroom, the closet doors in the shower, no curtains and no bedding or pillows. The second room was occupied by two women whom explained that three other guests had been assigned that room during their brief time there. The hallways had large holes cut in the walls exposing insulation. Tools and random furniture were haphazardly scattered throughout the entire hotel. I finally packed up my children and went to stay at the Hampton for 5 bucks more a night.

I have to give this hotel 5 stars. They were in the middle of a remodel, which was interesting because about 70% of the room was beautifully, elegantly updated, while about 30% still needed work. I feel like the price reflected this. Five stars, because despite the remodel, this was absolutely the quietest, most relaxing hotel I've ever stayed at. The bed was perfectly soft, housekeeping didn't bother us ONCE, and everyone was so incredibly nice. Excited to see the final remodel when I come next time!

The worst experience with Red Lion. Avoid! First the pictures advertising amenities is a lie. The facility is under construction, so everything is closed. The hallways look horrible, the rooms look horrible, broken shower curtains, mold on shower tiles, sawdust everywhere. It looked as though I was in a cheap European motel. Hell, even a motel 6 would have been better than here. The side of town this facility is located on is one to avoid at all costs. Make sure you take anything of value out of your car. One extra star, because there was running hot water and the pice for the room.

This has to be one of the worst hotels that I have ever stayed at. First the entire hotel is under construction. Upon arrival it looked like the hotel was shuttered. The entrance wasn't lit or marked and the parking lot was a mess of construction equipment. Second the staff was very unprofessional. Failed to provide any introduction to the hotel services available or impacted by construction and failed to provide the Wi-Fi log in. Third, the room was half completed as in newer carpeting, new vanity in bathroom but the finishing work was not done and I half wondered if it will ever be done. The scariest part of the stay was the room door, the bolt had been replaced and it looked like it was due to a break in. There was a large gap under the door that allowed the super bright hall way light to shine in. The pillows were lumpy like oatmeal and the bed was so worn out. I really didn't feel safe at this location outside the hotel or in it. I was appalled as Red Lions are usually good places to stay, at least in Nevada they are. Lesson learned to never stay in Lakewood again at any of the hotels. Spend the cash and stay downtown or away from I-5 in this location.

So we bought two rooms off of price line for our daughter's birthday. We specifically bought it for the swimming pool. We get here and check in to find out the whole place is being remodeled. That's OK. So our kids get ready to go swimming and my husband asks the front desk if it is open still. They said no. He asked again thinking they were joking and again was told no. He then told them that the website said the pool was opened and they argued that the website DID say it was closed. And that there are signs posted. I wouldn't purchase crappy rooms under full remodels and no damn pool if that were true. Now we are stuck with a non refundable room. Thanks for ruining my kid's birthday. Never returning back here. Also! No room to even walk down the hallways as cleaning staff has it all blocked off!

I got to the hotel and it was under massive construction. Nowhere was I informed when I was making my reservation. I continued because I wanted it to work, but when I got to my floor, I was hit with awful paint fumes. When I got into my room, the trim was off and the lock didn't work, so I called it quits and left. The receptionist was great and based on what's completed so far, it will be nice, but not now.

The hotel itself isn't horrible, it's what you would expect for the price. What IS absolutely UNBELIEVABLY HORRIBLE is the construction occurring at the hotel. The fact that the hotel is under construction right now is not being broadcast loudly enough on ALL the booking sites. The construction starts right at 0730 and it doesn't matter where your room is (seriously, it doesn't matter) you can expect to be woken by loud hammering, buzzsaw noise, and raucous conversation right outside your room. You can also expect limited parking, holes in your wall, and constriction debris (nails, staples, caulk, etc. ) everywhere you step, eat, or shower. Couldn't recommend strongly enough, DO NOT STAY HERE UNTIL CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE!

The hotel is renovating and while the staff was friendly, the condition of the rooms were awful. There was red/brown smudges on the curtains and sheets, the beds weren't made completely, flooring was missing, and there was a musty, stale smell inside. We asked for a new room and it wasn't much better. So we cancelled our stay eith Red Lion and went over to the Holiday Inn and had a great weekend! Overall: I DO NOT recommend staying at the Red Lion during construction. And I'm deeply disappointed in the hotel for not giving it's customers a heads up about it.

This is a place made of nightmares. Although the location was going through renovations during the time I stayed, it is not the basis for my review. I hope that with the renovations, rooms are also being gutted and remodeled, otherwise the outside appearance is pointless. My hotel room was atrocious. The furniture was not only old, it was stained and gross. I can imagine how many adult videos had likely been filed on that couch. The ceiling bubbled in numerous places, one of two ACs was boarded up on the inside, light fixtures were broken, ceiling vents hang from the ceiling and the alarm clock wasn't even able to function as an alarm. The bathroom is visible from the main living room and there is no door. Therefore, if you're doing your business on the throne, you can stare directly into the eyes of your guests in the living room. Stay across the street at the Holiday Inn Express.

This is not the Red Lion I know. Our view was one of a kind. Paid more for this! Who can use this kind of bathroom? No bar soap, no nothing. Toliet is afloat if you like doing your job up in the air. If they're under construction that side of the rooms should be closed. I don't know why there are doors. You can hear everything through the visible cracks. No upfront info on what's going on. The foul smell at the main entrance and super random sinking uncomfortable bed mattress will have you see the entire Tacoma as a negative place. It won't let me upload the outrageous pics I took. I would love to share with you.

When you first walk in there is an odd smell (though it does pass quickly). The Continental Breakfast area is pretty nice but does not make up for the rest of the hotel. The carpets are in need of replacement and the trim on doors doesn't even touch the floor. The rooms are nice enough on the inside but the beds are not as firm as they could be. My experience with the employees was good which would have earned them an extra star but the pool took it back. The shower to rinse was out of order so the pool water was pretty dirty. The hot tub wasn't even filled. Hopefully the renovations they are doing remedy some of these things but I don't see any changes in the next 6 months being completed.

The complimentary breakfast was very delicious and full of options! I had the biscuits and sausage gravy with scrambled eggs and sausage links. My kiddos loved the pancake maker. The pool and hot tub were great. Perfect temp for each! We had great customer service.

I wouldn't recommend my first floor room as the carpets were a little worn in making me not take off my socks and the shower was well used but still very clean. I'm certainly happy with the place over all and the breakfast selection was great. My bed was super comfortable as well. The mini fridge and microwave came in handy too. Their pet policy is awesome and my cats were comfortable instantly. I would stay here again for sure.

This suuper. Have albercs and jacuzzi under roof and the water is warm.

The room was comfortable and clean.

It was in a pretty rough neighborhood, it was pretty loud all night long. You could hear every step in the hallway from the room. The suite we were in, there was no door separating the bathroom or toilet from the rest of the suite. You could see the toilet from the couch in the living room. No way to give any privacy. No way to separate the living area from the sleeping area.

Comfy hotel for one night.

It's a good place if you need somewhere to stay. Not the greatest, but definitely not the worst. Is close to an airport so you occasionally hear airplanes flying very near. It can be loud, but I didn't have issues with it. Has an indoor pool and hot tub!

Rooms said they slept 5 online, but how are you supposed to sleep 5 adults with two queen beds? The first room they gave us looked like it had been used before we got there. The exterior of the hotel looks new, as do the rooms, but everything else looks really dated. Will not be staying there again.

Excellent room conditions, room service, breakfast. It is pretty expensive but it reflects how good you feel while staying here.

Hotel is old and needs work. Aside from that, rooms were comfy, but bathroom could have used another wipe down. Shower mat had hair on it. Breakfast was good. Staff was not very hospitable. Probably wont be staying again.

Rude custemer servace and charged me more than reciet now refuses to give me my money back.

The convention room was great, but also just worn out. Otherwise overall accommodated the event well.

The rooms are decent and clean and the bed's are very comfortable. They have free coffee in there lobby all day and night and it is very good good coffee always fresh and area was always clean. They also have an indoor pool and hot tub. I think with they are best hotel in Tacoma. I Recommend the Red Lion!

In a word… gross. The room was filthy. The pillow cases were dirty and had obviously not been changed. The furniture had filth and grime all over them with clearly no attempt to ever wipe then down. The carpet had spills dried onto it and it was clear no attempt had been made to wipe it up. There was a long, dark hair on a towel. Did not appear that the jacuzzi tub had been cleaned. The pool literally smelled like a fish pond and there wasn't one clean towel in the room (but plenty of dirty ones thrown all over). It was gross. I'll never stay here again. I wish I could include the pictures I took. The room had a strong smell of stale cigarettes despite being a nonsmoking room. Pluses: the room is very large, had a jacuzzi tub, and two tvs.

The rooms we're clean and beds nicely made, though needed a good dusting. We had a large group and came in late with no reservation. The staff handled it well, and we're polite and helpful:^) knew we would be up late and gave us isolated rooms, so we wouldn't have to sorry about keeping other guests up while we reconnected with old friendsB^) pretty good continental breakfast, and a huge indoor pool and hot tub plus a decent Wi-Fi connection. All in all a very pleasant stay :^P.

First, the staff is very friendly and attentive. The facility, however is terrible. Our reason for choosing this Red Lion was because of the indoor pool. The pool heater was broken and the pool was too cold to get into. The TV did not work and maintenance had to be called to get it going. Some sort of reset function on the back of the TV. The bathroom sink leaked, leaving water all over the floor and the carpet showed signs of mildew or mold suggesting this was not a new problem. A carpet tack protruded through the moldy carpet that we discovered with our bare feet. The complimentary breakfast's hot meals were barely luke-warm. The complimentary juices were either watered down or of very low quality. A $40 charge was added to my credit card for incidentals and won't be refunded for 3-5 days even though no incidentals were used. The coffee was good.

Friendly staff, room was nice and breakfast was hot. Pretty much everything we need for our little family getaways. The pool was nice as well, but could use some maintenance over the winter. Other than that, our experience was fantastic.

Clean room, great hotel location, nice breakfast and super friendly front desk staff. My room had a strong febreeze smell but it was nothing that opening the windows for a couple hours didn't fix.

Best hotel I have ever stayed at. Security/Maintenance worker Eric Patton was very professional and made me and my family feel safe. Housekeeping was spectacular! Swimming pool and breakfast! Completely recommend to everybody!

We spent one night, the room was large, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. The bathroom was tiny, two adults couldn't be in it at the same time. The curtains were sheer with not light blocking. We could hear a dog barking in a nearby room and children running the halls. The fridge and alarm clock made noises that kept us awake as well as a police siren and highway noise.

Nasty… but fun. Good truck parking. AC in hallway was broke. But room AC was good. Mold in shower though… Good local & laundry.

The Good Hotel staff was very friendly and check in was quick and easy. Breakfast was good, especially the biscuit and gravy (when available). The Okay The hotel is right by the freeway so you can definitely hear the traffic, but that doesn't bother me. The doors don't have seals at the bottom though so you can also hear everything out in the hallways. My door keys kept deactivating so we would have to keep going down to the lobby. Bathroom door wouldn't lock most times (stuck? ). Also, someone left trash by our door? Not much to the neighborhood. The Not-So-Good My only true complaint is that the room smelled really bad — like a mixture of pee and something else unidentifiable. We opened the windows to try and air out the room (which didn't help) but since it was a cold weekend, we also turned on the heater after closing the windows and to our amazement, the smoke alarm started going off! Heater seemed to be broken as it did cause a burning smell. We just dealt with the smell to avoid the cold. All in all, it was ok for the price, though I have stayed in much better for the same price.

My family and I are between houses after moving back to the Seattle area. The weekends are the only times we can get together, mother, daughter and father. Though it was expensive, over $200 for the Friday night, we booked here. Worst hotel stay ever, worst customer service EVER! After getting to the room, it smelled like stale cigarettes. The couple of burn marks I found confirmed this fact. The shower door had recently been "screw locked", where a long screw is used to keep one of the doors from moving. Fine, but they locked the one at the front of the shower with the handle to the outside. Once you get in turn on the shower, you're blasted with cold water and no way to dodge the ice cold blast. Even worse, whoever did this, didn't clean up the metal shavings. They left them right in front of the door that was still able to slide. An obvious safety hazard. The final straw for me was the next morning. After those issues I was greeted by an empty coffee pot, for my continental breakfast. I had to go across the street to the gas station for coffee. I complained at this point. I checked out and they gave me a 25% discount. I was satisfied at that point only to shortly find out I had been charged a Smoking Fee of $250. My wife smokes, I do not. I make her go outside and smoke, no matter what time it is. I called the hotel and was put on hold, told to callback Monday. The GM of the Tacoma Red Lion, Dee Singh, was not available.

I usually enjoy red lion hotels. I have personally never been to this location, but I like that chain in general. I remember when this was the Sherwood inn. That hotel was nice I heard in the 70s but in the 90s it was a dump. Then I believe the travel lodge bought it out, and it was a hotel/casino/ restaurant. The restaurant was delicious. The food was awesome and tasted wonderful and you got great portions. I wish the restaurant was still there for the public to go there. But it is what it is. Glad to finally see this hotel get fixed up.

I thought this was in a different part of town based on the pictures but it's right by the freeway. On one side it's freeway the other a bar "latitude 84". This area is considered to be a bad part of town and although the hotel is wonderful I was worried about my car being outside all night not too mention the room I was in was by the door and other not so upstanding guests kept propping it ajar. Made for noisy night. I did enjoy the room quality and slept well in the comfy bed. I would not come back only because I feel like if I'm going pay between $80 and $120 a night I'd want to feel safe. The guy who was drunk and high in the hallway was not a plus for me. Not to mention they charge $100 security deposit if you pay cash. And $45 if you pay with card they don't tell you that until your there. The staff I spoke with was AWESOME though and she made my check in easy which is always nice when your traveling and your tired.

It was worth the price. Hotel room was clean, has flat screens, and has good breakfast.

Polite, nice staff. Somewhat dated rooms; peeling paint and paper thin walls. Pool enclosure was dark, like a cave, but clean. Breakfast was decent. Disturbance late late at night by drunken guest, no fault to the hotel staff but a visit by the police does not make for a pleasant stay.

The hotel has no security! The security cameras on top of the building are fake. Multiple U-Hauls stolen from hotel parking lot. The hotel doesn't care. The hotel says they are not responsible for lost or stolen property in parking lot.

Stayed here for one night under the new management. When we got there, it took a while for them to get us checked in, because one of their computers wasn't working correctly. At the front desk, we were informed the pool wouldn't be available, because it was being maintained. The people at the front desk told us they had taken over the hotel from the previous management the week before we arrived, and they were still fixing and improving a lot of things. The room wasn't too bad: The beds were comfortable, it had a tv, minifridge, microwave, and AC. The private bathroom was a bit small, and the toilet seat was partly broken. The free "highspeed internet" is staggeringly slow at 2mb/s. The included breakfast is appalling, and essentially consists of some toast and a waffle maker. It's okay if you're only planning on staying a day or two, but I wouldn't want to stay here for any amount of time.

I'm not sure what all the complaints in the other reviews are about. I was in Tacoma for an ultimate frisbee tournament. I booked a few rooms for my team mates and I. The rooms were all clean and very modern. They had nice minifridges, LCD TVs, and comfortable beds. The only negative point is the neighbourhood. It felt a bit sketchy. A bunch of cars with big rims, tinted windows. Shops with signs telling people to remove their hoods before entering.

I really can't add anything that so one hasn't already said. This place is awful and the yelp reviews are so misleading. Here are some of the main issues: 1. They don't clean the rooms everyday 2. I found hair in my towels on a daily basis 3. The sheets where old, coming off the bed and yellowed. 4. The service personnel where nice but didn't follow through with requests like requesting that your room be cleaned everyday (you shouldn't have to request this to begin with! ) 5. There is pigeon feces all over that never gets cleaned up. 6. The rooms are dark and gloomy (I don't some may like this, just not my cup of tea). 7. The area around the hotel is kind of scary 8. There isn't much around the area, a lot of the restaurants have closed (there might be a reason for this).

Myself and 8 coworkers have been staying here for the last 3 weeks. There has been trash in the rooms when we arrived that was neglected by the room cleaners. I accedently got dirt on my floor which wasn't vacumned up for 3 days (even though my room was "cleaned" every day) myself and 4 others have had problems with the sheets staying on the bed. When the maintenance worker brought new sheets he just handed them to me to put on then stood there and watched. There's some odd odors too, my room on the second floor smelled moldy and the third floor room smelled like a cat litter box. Not impressed at all! I've stayed in far better rooms for alot less money. I wish my employer would move us to another hotel but no dice yet.

This place is old and dated. There is no restaurant. It is hard to get to or from. Bad neighborhood. Walls paper-thin. Could hear conversations on both sides and in the hallway, like they were in our room. Security was very rude (where do they get these guys. At the local G. E. D. Class? ). Even at internet discount rate. Over-priced stay anywhere else.
