Review of Americas Best Value Inn & Suites-Texas City/La Marque 2*

I would give a 0 if I could. No way would I stay here again or recommend it to anyone else. The pictures do not give an accurate representation of the facility. Three of us (sister, friend and myself) planned a quick get away for a much needed girls weekend. Our friend reserved the room using her points and we were set. Or so we thought. We arrived Friday evening, checked in at the front desk, got our keys and went to drop our stuff off in the room. We had to try the keys several time before it would let us in and then the smell hit us. The room smelled like it had been shut up for quite some time so we sprayed air freshener and turned on the A/C then headed to the beach … hoping it would be better when we got back. No such luck. I actually think it was worse. I called the front desk to complain about the smell and asked if we could be moved to another room because I have serious allergies to mold/mildew. The man said we couldn’t be moved because we were only staying a short time (2 nights) and they didn’t have another room for that short of a stay (whatever that means). I slept with a wet cloth over my face, praying that I wouldn’t get sick. After spending the next day at the beach we came back (again there were 3 of us) and there were only towels for 2. The shower had black hair in it that wasn’t there the night before (none us have black hair) and our shampoo had been spilled but not cleaned up. The water never really got hot but it was ok the longer it ran. The hairdryer shot sparks when I tried to use it so I just left it unplugged (we didn’t see fire safety measures).
