Great atmosphere & very friendly staff.

Be very careful with any bookings with the Refinery Hotel — they charged me after I had already paid Booking. Com absolutely unacceptable.

Had an amazing stay at the Refinery hotel last week. Great location, great hotel and amazing staff. I’d highly recommend this hotel and look forward to my next visit.

We just stayed here for our 10th anniversary with our friends who were also celebrating their 10th anniversary. It was a snowy weekend but Gabriel made our stay exceptional. He was very accommodating friendly and kind. He helped us get a late check out and our friends get their room a day early. We loved the rooftop patio for food and drinks. It was the perfect location for us to walk to a bunch of places and see a concert at Madison square garden. The rooftop had a perfect view of the Empire State Building. We walked to Bryant park, Rockefeller plaza, New York City library, MOMA, Times Square, Central Park and Madison square garden. Would highly recommend staying here and can’t wait to visit again. They had coffee in the lobby. The only thing I would change are the pillows on the beds. Everything else was perfect.

BEWARE! Long story, short: — Checked in at 10:00am, dropped off bags. All good.
— Returned that evening to get key. Was told at THAT time many of the amenities of the hotel (lobby bar, rooftop bar, etc. ) are not available to guests?!?
-Justinia, with the hotel, told us if we did not like it, we were welcome to leave, but the hotel would be keeping $650 (we had not even gone upstairs yet). Justinia, if you remember anything differently, please feel free to follow up to this post… What would you do? Happy holidays!

Absolutely the best hotel in Manhattan including the rooftop bar and grill. Professional and courteous staff. And absolute pleasure CANNOT wait to come back.

We had a wonderful stay at the Refinery Hotel. The check in process was easy and the staff were great. We especially appreciated the front desk and valet staff. They went above and beyond to be helpful. The hotel is beautiful and the food at both restaurants was delicious. We will definitely stay again. Thank.

Reservations dept was difficult to get thru too almost gave up… BUT everything from our arrival, meeting Raymond was all uphill! The staff could not been nicer, text messages Checking on our stay was very nice, food was awesome! We will be back!

This is one of the best known “secrets” in NYC. Well appointed rooms, delicious food, and beautiful rooftop. Highly recommend.

The hotel has a great unique vibe and appearance. I stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed my entire time. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the entire hotel is very clean. I would strongly recommend considering The Refinery for anyone looking for a more unique hotel or just a really nice place to stay when visiting NYC.

Cool rooftop bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Crowd is older and more professional. Drinks are nice, but expect to pay typical NYC nice roof top prices. Great view of the Empire State Building. My only concern, it gets crowded and not too much room to stand. Maybe could use another bar? UPDATE — Second time going here in a week and so I wanted to update my review. They do not need another bar because they keep it more intimate. Love the place, definitely check them out.

Great stay, too bad New York took most of our time sightseeing. The location is ideal, a walk to all the major sites NY has to offer. It was a delight coming back to our clean, comfortable and spacious room anytime. Many little enjoyable details in the room. The bed mattress was extremely comfortable, we did not have to take time to adjust our sleep. It was great to come back from a long city walk to nice Jazz tunes in your rearranged room. I loved the Bathroom tile work. Management training was evident in the young spirited and energetic staff. Very knowledgeable and always offering help. Masters in communication, we received text messages and information while touring the city to ensure we are having a great time. Bill always made sure we knew where we are going and how to get there. Staff had all great recommendations on where to eat. Entertainment at the hotel rooftop bar and the Jazz lounge in the lobby are a definite option for a great time, you don't have to leave the hotel. We highly recommend this gem if you are looking to enhance your NY city experience. Or if you want to just get spoiled and enjoy sometime for yourself.

It is well placed for all the attractions which in the main are well within walking distance unless you have mobility issues. If this is the case there is usually a yellow cab outside, or the Door staff will get you one quickly. Staff in general are very polite and very helpful…

Super hotel, staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Love the vibe, very jazz orientated and cool. Free drink in the evening then relax in the bar and listen to the band play some beautiful jazz. Nice and central too, really nice area. Will definitely visit again. Special mention for Amanda she made our stay really special.

I stayed at the Refinery Hotel 6/2/18, this is my fourth time staying at this hotel. Originally I brought my family (booking several rooms) just weeks after the hotel opened and before their restaurants and rooftop were open. Such great experiences those times and some of the best treatment from the staff, valet and management. The first time I was met with Le Labo toiletries, a large and very well-maintained room and some of the most exceptional service I have experienced in NYC. On top of that, I paid much less than my recent visit. This time I was very disappointed. The hotel has lost the crisp feeling it had and my room was dirty, worn and noisy. The toiletries are cheap, the room has dirt and grime and even shards of someones toilet paper next to the bed. The bed blanket looks worn and dirty, the carpet was rolling at the edges and it was one of the noisiest rooms I have been in. Starting at 7:50am housekeeping started tapping on all of the doors in the area making one after another making so much noise I could not sleep. I shared my feelings with the management of the hotel via their text app and their response was to offer a 10% discount for another stay and said they will talk to housekeeping/maintenance. Pretty abysmal. The truth is that I paid $415.45 for one night of lackluster accommodations. Staff didn't bother to address me at any point other than check-in and didn't ask how my stay was upon check-out.

It's a rooftop venue, with pretty decent views. It's very modern, yet sort of laid back at the same time. Although they do have a dress code, so one would have to look their best. The food is pretty good, they offer a tapas menu with a decent selection and the list of flatbreads that are very good. It does get packed so the only recommendation I would have is to reserve a table in advance, you may find yourself waiting 45 minutes minimum if you don't.

Have been to the hotel a few times and have never been disappointed. Well appointed rooms, comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, great service. Staff know your name and welcome you back personally. The rooftop bar is a great spot to have a night cap. I would recommend not staying on the top floor, as right above there is the bar which has a DJ on the weekends. If you can get a corner room, you'll have a great view of 38th and the cross street. Love the amenities in the room as well. Lovely scents.

The rooms are well clean and modern. They have everything you'd expect from hair dryers to irons to safes. They are comfortable and cute. The room service food is ok for a meal and better then a lot of other room service I've had. Plus is comes packed like a lunch, disposal and easy to manage unlikely the big clunky trays that take up the entire desk most hotels give you. But the best part of this hotel has to be the roof top bar. As a hotel guest you get to skip what can be a crazy long line, particularly when it's nice out. The cocktails are good and the vibe is cool only topped off by a great view!

Very cool rooftop bar and restaurant. Very trendy spot. Consider checking if events are happening before heading there. The view is cool but not the best rooftop views.

I have gone there couple of times for drinks and happy hours. They have limited but good beer selection, some good wines and great cocktails. The best part is the view of Empire State building from the rooftop.

Very good place to have a drink, not to eat. They don't serve you well and it's uncomfortable.

I have stayed at Refinery Hotel 4 times now — clearly I like the hotel overall. This low rating comes because… NOTE: if you leave something nice in your room you will not be getting it back. I stayed 2 nights packed very light. I left a brand new lululemon zip up hanging in the closet. I checked out around 11:30AM (3/25/18) realized when unpacking same day at home, I never grabbed it from the closet (my fault). By 6:40PM I reached out to the hotel — of course nothing was turned in. People suck! When you pay $800 for two nights you hope for better service. I personal will not be back — however I’m thankful it was not something of higher importance.

Nice hotel, well maintained and clean, well located in NY for walking. There is a terrace at the top to go for a drink (lots of atmosphere) and take pictures overlooking the city. You can also have a drink downstairs in a nice living room. The staff will be happy to help you on just about anything.

Perfect choice to splurge on a night in the city for our 10th wedding anniversary! The room was beautiful, the service was friendly and prompt, and we even had complimentary "Happy Anniversary" cupcakes and wine waiting for us in our room! The rooftop bar was fun too, if unsurprisingly crowded. The location is perfect, right between the Theater District and Grand Central, so it was easy to get around on foot. Will absolutely return if circumstances permit!

I have to say I was really surprised. I booked a room last minute for my birthday. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Beautiful roof top and overall hotel decor. The open windows and trendy decor was a plus. I had one of the bigger rooms was super surprised that the bathrooms were as big as o saw. We loved the rooftop just Absolutely beautiful and overall everything just felt classy and fun. Hotel was super clean and had everything at hand. Would definitely stay again.

Very cool place we went for drinks after work. Cool open air vibe. The bartenders were very attentive and drinks were perfect. We didn't have any food but from what I saw looked awesome. The have couches you can reserve or tables near the bar with service.

Very elegant, stylish hotel. Ambience was very warm and inviting. Rooms have a loft feel to them. Atelier room had high ceilings and tall windows that let's in a lot of natural light. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Even though it was bitter cold outside, this was one of our best trips to New York thanks to the wonderful staff at The Refinery Hotel. Fabulous rooms with the most comfortable beds, spacious bath, unique features around every corner. Most notable was the rooftop lounge with a fireplace, views of the Empire State Building and wonderful food. Can’t wait to go back!

Although I did not have time to try the rooms or food, craft cocktails and wine list were definitely special. Other than my good company, the decoration and lighting of the rooftop really enhanced the experience. The music selection was on point and staff very friendly. The reason for the lack of that extra star is the lack of presence and manners of greeters at the front desk of the hotel, who didn’t seem to want to be there.

Incredible, stylish, beautiful and peaceful! We stayed here for 5 nights just before Christmas and it was the perfect place to stay and so on trend! It’s in a great location and easy to get to all the major parts of the city. The service from the doorman, right to the lovely cleaners, was fantastic — everyone was friendly and so kind. Highly recommend and totally coming back ❤️

The hotel was beautiful and clean. The staff was very nice and friendly. We walked in and were greeted with a glass of wine for their happy hour. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable. The bed was so comfortable also! We had a great stay and I would love to come back.

It was very modern and the restaurant/bar was an open space area with an open ceiling. Perfect for summer nights. Cocktail drinks are a tad expensive but compared to other hotel bars in Manhattan, they are comparable. Service was good and the cocktails were very good as well. They have an outdoor patio in the heart of midtown Manhattan offering incredible views. Well worth the visit.

Great location for Midtown. Rooms are modern, although vary regarding amenities such as a fridge. Dark rooms means cleaning staff doesn't have to be as thorough, but my wife and I noticed on multiple occasions the bathroom area wasn't clean to our standards. Staff overall is friendly and helpful.

Went to the Rooftop. Very nice space. Without a reservation we (2) had to wait some 30 minutes. This was Labor Day Monday at like 7. Just waited at the bar. Nice small eats. Enough to make a meal out of but definitely made for more hearty snacking. But still very good.

Absolutely amazing place! Staff were amazing! Would recommend their restaurant for food it's to die for! Service is top notch and would highly recommend!

I cannot say enough how amazing this place is. From start to finish — even before you get in the door, it's understated, boutique chic, and I was impressed by their professionalism and commitment to detail. It has a small gym, with sweat towels, and a water fountain. It's not massive, but it does the trick on holiday, and their rooftop terrace has great views of the Empire State building. It's not a cheap place, but the price of luxury speaks for itself. It's utterly beautiful. Had a great stay there.

Good views and a very good atmosphere.

Probably one of the best Small Luxury Hotels that I have stayed at. The rooftop bar was a bit overwhelming for me, but as another option they have some great live jazz every night in the lobby. The staff were nice, and were always willing to help. The decor… Don't even get me started. It was fabulous. It really used dark wood well to create a intimate feeling. The location, in the middle of the garment district was fabulous, and it was easy to walk to wherever you wanted to go. I hope that you can stay here and experience it for yourself.

Excellent Roof Toof. A wonderful experience being in the midst of so high buildings! Good place to enjoy a few drinks and something to nibble on.

I've been eyeing this place for a month or so. Finally, hubby & I got the chance to visit. We were seated very quickly. We were giving water within seconds. Our order was taken and served within 10 mins tops. We loved the view. Only issue was the heat… I think they should have a fan or more umbrellas to keep people cool. We sat outside with sweat pouring down our faces.

Really cool hotel that has attention to details. Stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved the vibe. Very professional staff and rooms were clean and big. Definitely check out the rooftop bar.

There's always a private event, they don't have someone to call to find out if there's a private event. Shlepping there in high heels or in a taxi only to be told it's closed its not worth it. Never again.

It was a pleasant experience, and the service could of been better but acceptable. The room was clean and we'll made.

The overall experience was positive. Clean, friendly staff and comfortable beds. Very cool decor and nice area. When I checked out I was told I had one purchase from the minibar in my room. I told them no I didn't. If there was something missing the cleaning lady took it. She removed the charge and I signed my check out slip. Three days later the charges appear on my credit card. I emailed the manager about the issue and never received a response back. Beware of the overpriced minibar scam.

I liked the large, clean rooms, Rooms had views. Bathrooms were large & clean. Near the city center; shopping, sightseeing, restaurants & bars nearby. The professional staff is friendly & efficient.

The rooftop bar is awesome when the weather is nice. Great drinks and atmosphere. Drinks can be a little pricey, but so is every other rooftop bar in NYC.

I am Uruguayan spend holy week in this beautiful hotel, super cute, their staff always willing, polite and very friendly, at one point of the city spectacular, thanks for having known, I recommend it, if I would go back to stay there, buenisimo.

I went just for a cocktail with my friend in the Rooftop Bar and the location was amazing. Maybe there are too many buildings around, but you will feel good. Obviously the bar is not cheap.

Great hotel, we stay very pleasant. The upstairs bar was great. The room was large, bed very comfortable. At night a little noisy but, in New York City a little noise is normal. Really recommend it.

Was overcharged by a tattooed waitress/bartender had to file a dispute with my bank to get it refunded. Wouldn't go to a place where they steal money from you. Don't deal with your credit card or lower class female bartenders with tattoos.

Having been to New York a few times and having stayed a a few different hotels with my wife, this was our first trip with our three kids. I requested adjoining rooms in my reservation on the hotel website, but did not get my hopes up. I called before departing Miami to confirm the reservation and was told the adjoining rooms are available but are only confirmed upon check in. This is typical of every hotel I have been to. From the street the hotel is very nondescript. Inside however it is beautifully decorated with modern design. We were checked in and were on our way up to our rooms (adjoining, no less! ) within minutes. The rooms are beautiful and exceptionally clean and modern. Of note is that the room key is required to operate the elevator which is a nice security feature. Our rooms were on 7th floor and were exceptionally quiet. The window shades in the room blocked out almost all the light. Being quiet and dark made it very easy to oversleep on the very comfortable beds. Also of note, the air conditioning was powerful, my wife loves the room cold and she got her wish. We stayed at this hotel for 4 days and everyone enjoyed the stay. A few notes. The hotel does have a bar or club on the roof and there is a line to get up there at night. However, I never went to the rooftop, but we were never made to wait to get into the hotel by the doormen, they seemed to recognize all the hotel guests and treat them as such. Also no noise from the rooftop could be heard in our rooms.

The award for best use of a large hallway, goes to Refinery Hotel! This bar is cozy, but they manage to squeeze in some live music. There is only a small amount of room for dancing, but some friends and I had a good time and the waitress made it through the night unscathed. Fun times.

Great place to host a work event — the staff was super accommodating and ensured that everything was perfect for our clients and colleagues. Would highly recommend this place for a large group/ small gathering. The view is spectacular.

As most rooftop bars in the summer plus its location, this is definitely a scene. It is a great space and the DJ plays a great mix of eclectic sounds. The drink prices are as to be expected, but the bartenders are fun and friendly. The view of the Empire State Building is great and the outside area is nice.

Don't put down a tab with the waitresses here! I was hanging out by one of the benches for a friend's birthday party and ordered a drink for myself and my girlfriend, she asked if I wanted to open a tab and I said yes for myself and my gf's drinks. Another friend of the birthday boy ordered a drink and asked to open up his own tab. A few hours later, I went to cash out my tab and found out she had charged everyone's drinks from around the bench area to my tab, saying I had put down the tab "for the table". I asked her who ordered these drinks and she said she didn't remember. She had also double charged for my gf's drinks and said she would take them off the bill, which she did not. When I tried to speak to the manager, he said it wasn't his problem. In general the waitstaff here all seem very incompetent, so if you decide to come here, order directly from the bar and don't let them have your credit card.

Great hotel: stylish in a renovated hat factory reusing its elements, helpful friendly staff, busy roof top bar. Bustling area around, extremely good coffee shop opposite. bar and restaurant are not typical hotel gastronomy but also frequently used by other guests. our room was not that big, but — of course — bigger ones are available (just "slightly" more expensive) good for people, who prefer style / a bit more individuality to the big names in hotel business.

Clean, trendy, and warm accommodations during a cold week in New York. The staff is very welcoming and courteous. Parker and Quinn has delicious food and the Rooftop bar is a very happening place. We would definitely stay at Refinery Hotel again.
