This place is beneath contempt. There is no comparison between its publicized photos and the grim reality. The hotel is filthy. When we arrived, it was clear that the room was vacated moments earlier and had not been touched by any cleaning efforts. The garbage cans were full, we found empty soda cans everywherre, and worst of all, there were no clean towels or sheets. Enter at your own risk!

My family stayed at the Gracie Inn over Thanksgiving 2011. They got a room with two levels and a nice outdoor space. The staff was friendly. They had a great comfortable stay. It's quirky and cool.

This place sucks, the photos are a parcel.

Gracie was in a great section of the upper east side and blends in quite well with the residential area. The suite offers a roof top balcony that is suited for entertaining guests. Parking was not an issue as there are two parking garages close to the hotel and if your lucky you can get a spot on the street as people seem to move there cars enough. One block away is a walk platform for morning jogs and boasts great views of Roosevelt Island. The breakfast was fruit, yogurts, and bagels and if you like a hardier breakfast the Gracie Cafe (not same owner) has very fresh food with nice portions and does a fair priced brunch. Going back again and will every time I stay in NY.

I just came back from the Big Apple-It was wonderful. Part of the reason it was wonderful was our staying at the Gracie Inn. We had a charming room with the most impeccable service you can ask for and to top it off breakfast in bed. Mr. SASSE took care of all my needs from information on places to eat, places to see and even arrange transportation. The Gracie Inn is truly your home away from home.

Beware giving credit card information over the phone to these people. They charged us over 600 dollars after we canceled by phone in plenty of time. A dozen phonecalls later and after many promises to get back to us, finally a 'manager' said this was out of his hands and he was merely following instructions from the owners. The manager said he will discuss this case with the owners. Since this is still in dispute, I'll write again if it gets cleared up. The case is now in the hands of the credit card company. In the meantime, I recommend avoiding this hotel because of the unscrupulous way they took our money and made communication impossible.

The Gracie Inn is an unusual NYC B&B. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was better than most, but all of this good will was undone by the discovery of bedbugs in the covers. I was assured that the management would call me to discuss the problem but they never did. Neither did they return my repeated phone calls. I had to clean all of my clothes, disinfect my suitcase, and generally disrupt my life to prevent the Gracie infestation from traveling home with me. This incredible inconvenience and complete failure by the management to promptly address the problem make the Gracie Inn a losing proposition. This is too bad since, as other reviewers have remarked, it is not completely charm-free.
