The Hotel was nice. Rooms were cozy and spacious. Bearded security guy less than helpful. Talked like he had a mouth full of marbles. Couldn't give directions to save his own life. Over all amenities we as good or better than expected. Would definitely be staying with them next time I'm in Taos.

Nice stay. Our a/c stopped working, maintenance came and replaced it with a new one immediately. Breakfast was great and better than expected. The room was clean, a little outdated. The bed was comfortable. Overall Nice and quiet.

We've stayed here several times and all I can say is I love, love, love this place! Nice spacious rooms, Comfortable beds a nice pool and three separate hot tubs! Beautiful courtyards also has an awesome restaurant and bar serving delicious food and beverages. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Hands down our favorite Hotel to stay at when we are in Toas.

This place is a dump. I do not recommend staying here. It is very dirty. You can stay at the Hilton across the street for almost the same money. This place should of been on hotel hell with Gordon Ramsey. But by all means stay here if you like sharing DNA with strangers.

Despite my disappointing (my fault) first experience, I decided to come back with my folks and wife for a weekend trip. Totally worth it. Forgiving the not-so-modern décor, the sleep was pleasant, the hot tub was relaxing, and the breakfasts were very filling and gratifying. My parents, mom especially, wouldn't stop gushing about the value of the stay here. Parking was adequate and safe, other visitors were friendly, and the staff were very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again if on a budget; if money is no thing, I may blow it on a local spa. :D.

I just had my wedding here last week. As far as a hotel, I think it is a great place. The rooms are comfortable and the grounds are nice to hang out at. We enjoyed the different courtyards and hot tubs. Our wedding was really great. The space was comfortable and provided enough room for a large party. The food at our reception was catered by the hotel and it was outstanding (Mexican Buffet. ) My one word of caution to anyone planning a large event here was that the staff was very hard to communicate with while planning. I would have to email and call repeatedly to get answers to simple questions. They were nice if I could actually get in contact with them. It should not be so hard to reach staff when you are paying for a large and expensive event.

Took over an hour past check in to get room. Seems like they are having a little trouble with the house keeping crew. Otherwise the room is nice. Will talk with management about the rooms not being ready on time.

Overpriced and old. Lots of history but it needs a lot of help. I think it had mold because we both got sick after leaving.

Ok this was my first time in Taos and Sagebrush Inn. Lets start out by saying the building and atmosphere are rustic, some items and rooms are beautiful. My biggest complaint would be that it seems like no dusting get done above eye level. The log beams in our room (200) were loaded with dust and cob webs, which is probably the reason we had a little visitor during the night (a spider). Otherwise the staff was friendly and breakfast was good.

Very nice stay, love the adobe architecture, friendly staff. The rooms are a bit dated but for a hotel built in 1931 it's perfect. The restaurant and bar are a added bonus with live music and delicious food.

Great southwest ambience… built in the 1920’s for “The Carrage Trade” driving to the west… at a time Taos was exploding with art and literature… several of the original buildings are Adobe with giant cedar trees forming the ceilings… still well preserved… lodging and services are outstanding.

If you are looking for a piece of history in New Mexico then this is a great hotel to experience. I can remember staying here as a child over 40 years ago, and there are parts that I remember exactly as they are today. We got a room located off of the courtyard which puts you in the older rooms. The rooms are small, but they have made an effort to update them with new TVs and a comfortable bed. The bathrooms is where you can really feel the age of the place. The tile and the fixtures make it feel old as well as the little window in the back of the hotel. The other part of this hotel that could be improved is the cleanliness of the grounds on the back side of the building where you park. Before you even make it to your room you can see where the keep all the broken appliances and pool filters as well some outdoor storage cabinets or something along the walkway you have to take to your room.

I went to a wedding of a very dear friend. But the staff was not very professional.

Hit and miss. Reserve via hotwire and you'll end up in an old "Bates Motel" type of room that has an old A/C heater that runs loudly all night long. Reserve one of the better rooms and they are very classy and comfortable.

Authentic old world charm in the original bar and restaurant. Spacious grounds with plenty of parking make the inn comfortable and convenient. Our original room assignment was a rather unpleasant surprise but the desk staff were very accommodating when we requested an upgrade. Photos show our pleasant, and large accommodation. Breakfast was hot and hearty. We would stay again.

Dinner was delicious, the cook (Anna Maria) made our food to perfection. Best service, nice, friendly. Was a historic, cozy environment.

Great check in service, Omar was awesome and took care of our unpleasant service with Priceline reservations. Our dinner was great and most of the staff was friendly and helpful! Great views!

Beautiful rooms, views and interiors. The old restaurant style setting for the free breakfast was much better than the buffet style they have now.

The food was good and the complex has character. The rooms are a bit dated and the beds are old. We enjoyed the fireplace and the size of the room. But, the whole place needs a good cleaning and maintenance.

Nice stay. Room is spacious and for a reasonable price. I went there for a conference and the conference facilities are great. I also took some organized trips around: exciting experience at the Pueblo few miles away.

Terrible stay. The hotel is so old all you hear is creaking. We stayed on the first floor and we couldn’t sleep because of all of the dang creaking. We asked for another room and we were told over and over they were at 97% capacity, and they didn’t have anything else available. Lovely to hear we paid money to not be able to sleep in a hotel. Finally after some negotiating they found another room. We moved everything over to the new room, and went to take a shower. Any time I touched the faucet in the shower I got an electric shock. Something was SERIOUSLY wrong with that shower. If you don’t want to get electrocuted in the shower, you might want to find another place to stay!

When I arrived to my room the lights were out and needed to be replaced. The rooms looked like it's meant to be a 4 or 5 star hotel but in reality it's a 2 star hotel. Rooms were filthy and noise leaks very easily from room to room. Overall I would not stay here again.

Make sure you know what you are getting. Half of this hotel is a converted Comfort Inn (or similar hotel). These rooms do not have the character of the rooms of the original hotel. We booked online and didn't realize the difference. From the photos online, we expected a fireplace and exposed vigas. When we got into the room, it was nothing like the photos. The front desk informed me that the only room available in the historic portion of the hotel was a smoking room. I asked to see it and ultimately we chose a stinky smoking room (with character) over the drab typical hotel room. Other amenities of the hotel were above average. The included breakfast was excellent, there was a bocce court with equipment available and the grounds, though not manicured, were pleasant.

Room could have used a little maintenance. Sink didn't drain well. Small things here and there. Hot tub left you smelling of chlorine pretty bad. Staff was excellent. Breakfast surprisingly good. Pretty hotel. Overall pretty happy. Shout out to Louis at the bar. That guy was great. Was the star of our experience during our stay.

The reason the reviews are ‘hit or miss’ is because the Sagebrush has a HUGE selection of various rooms and facilities as well as a lot of staff members. You might see some on their dining room, conference center and/or rooms. My wife and I were traveling across the country in October and decided to spend a couple of days in Taos. The staff here saw our needs (2 toddlers and a small dog) and adjusted our reservations accordingly. We stayed in the 560 block. The master room in the suite provided a beautiful view of the mountains and we absolutely enjoyed our time there because of the spacious living quarters, the amazing breakfast served every morning and the ease of visit transition in and out. *Some staff members are much more amiable than others. For best customer service, I went to the evening staff for best results* Would definitely come back.

Second time We've stayed here. Restaurant on premesis, free breakfast, no pool though. Rooms are beautiful. Hotel is historic, well appointed. Beautiful views of New Mexico desert.

So while on a weekend outing I stayed at the sagebrush. First room first trip, super old room And bed. Pretty small. Second visit huge room, fire place with 5 logs, Murphy bed for extra guests. Very nice! The bar tender was great, super friendly talk about customer service! The restaurant staff well it wasn't busy and my server didn't seem to care. She didn't refill or drinks, I gaff to ask another server for my bill. The host was staring at us and made us feel awkward. Not the greatest visit to a restaurant.

We had dinner there. It was OK, but nothing special. We both had the Rocky Mountain Ruby Trout. It was good, well-prepared, but again, nothing special. The vegetables were a bit overcooked and the mashed potatoes were lumpy. To sum up, the meal left us feeling e could have done better somewhere else.

Problems with key cards. Rate not same as quoted over phone. Nice room. Fireplace. Smells musty. Worn out mattress. Murphy bed. Nice view. Staff was not helpful. Too busy to answer phone at front desk.

Staying here now. Sigh. This place has gone down hill. The room is dated, but comfy and somewhat clean. Sadly after a long day of site seeing, the housekeeper clocked out and did not clean our room. My elderly mom and I had to sit out side the room while an angry housekeeper took care of the room. She snapped at us and told us to talk to the front desk. She didn't want to talk to us. She whipped the door open, propped it with a chair and proceeded to clean like a mad teenager. As we left her to clean, our neighbors moaned loudly, Lord! Finally, back in our room sitting on the couch I had to cover with the extra blanket, due to mystery stains.

This was a nice place to stay. Room was well kept and clean. Only gripe was a pump truck came at about 4:00 in the morning and woke up the whole room. Staff didn’t know anything about it.

One of the greatest places I have ever stayed! Older, but very well maintained. Staff is very friendly and courteous. The breakfast is very good and so is the prime rib in the restaurant!

Nice authentic place to stay. Grounds are pretty and well maintained. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Complimentary full, hot breakfast was very delicious using china and silverware. Well worth the money.

My wife and I stayed at the Sagebrush one night. She was very excited as she had heard good things about the hotel. Bar tender was great! Hot tub was broken and my wife is now covered in bed bug bites! Head to toe. She is not a happy camper. Stay away from room 144!

We stayed for one night in Taos, New Mexico. It was a large comfortable room for 3 guests. Pool, hot tub and workout room were a bonus we thoroughly enjoyed. Restaurant very good, great food, prices and staff. We would definitely stay again.

Very nice rooms.

Awesome stay with great service in an authentic historic hotel. Large room at a great price, included an amazing buffet breakfast in the morning with great selection and quality of food. Ate at the restaurant for dinner and it was amazing! Prime rib was top notch and the margaritas were delicious. They had live music in the evening as well, can't recall the band, but they were fun and entreating. Can't wait to come back!

This place has so much charm and character, and yet is really affordable. The rooms are spacious and comfortable — the suites in the back are perfect for families. The free breakfast is great (some of the best French toast). And the music on Friday and Saturday nights makes this a fun place to hang out. The location is perfect for either exploring Taos or skiing in the valley.

Workers are all great people. The food is great. The place is very butyfl inside and outside. It's very clean. I like the music.

The people here are so awesome! Front desk to bar tender, maintenence, house keepers, cook's, wait staff and security. Cold room when you need it with fireplace and wood. Clean comfortable place. I sleep like a baby here and always stay longer than planned. Heck I was just here in May and I'm back in July. *~♡~* love it!

We've stayed here a couple times. It has a unique character. The rooms are nice and we had rooms with fireplaces in the winter. It's very comfortable. It has a "Taos" style. We used the Jacuzzi facility and that was nice. I would definitely stay here if I needed a hotel in Taos. At one time this hotel served as the replacement home of the Los Alamos Ranch school after the school was forced to move out of Los Alamos, NM at the beginning of the Manhattan Project. If you want something that is more then just a room, this place is for you. We used this hotel as a base to visit the many museums in Taos. We had a great time.

Awesome Hotel! Great property, great staff, great breakfast, great value for your money! As you may have guessed I really liked this hotel. The place has great historic character and charm, and has been well maintained for it's age with the modern comforts like free Wi-Fi and a big HDTV in our large clean rooms (our's also had a wood burning fireplace and amazing sunset views), and for what already seemed like a steal of deal price wise, the rate included an amazing breakfast buffet. There was live music on both Friday and Saturday night in their bar area and we loved the prime rib we had from their restaurant when we ate there. Staff was very friendly and helpful! The only thing we didn't get to enjoy were the in-room fireplaces and hot tubs (because it was summer) and the bocce ball court and pool (because we ran out of time). I can't wait to come back in the winter! I highly recommend this hotel!

We enjoyed our suite and the fact that they welcomed our dog. The fact that there were 2 full baths was great! But one of the showers did not drain well. The buffet breakfast was also very nice. The landscaping around the hotel rooms was also nice with great grassy areas for pets. The pool was very small. We waited to go until the previous family left. There were no towels left at the pool when we got there. The staff was attentive and helpful. All in all we liked our stay while we were in Taos.

We enjoyed our stay and thought the value was good for the price. The room was spacious and clean, although some of the floor tiles were broken. The breakfast was good, but not outstanding. All in all, we were very happy with our stay.

My stay at Sagebrush was great! The entire hotel is beautiful and the rooms are homey and very nice. It is easy to find — located on the main drag on the way into Taos. They also have a full hot breakfast where they serve eggs, potatoes, meat, and a main course (ours was french toast). They also have oatmeal, fruit, and many juice options.

Spent the night April 16. We had a room with a fireplace that faced a lovely grassed courtyard. It snowed the day we arrived. The Hotel staff was very nice as was everyone at this hotel. We elected to eat in the bar. They had a jazz duo performing. The food was good, but the bar menu was limited to only few selections. We had a bottle of champagne and enjoyed the music. Breakfast in the morning was quite good. Coffee was terriffic, service was very good. We loved the architecture of the buildings, the hand carved tables and the friendliness of the staff. Think we'll be back sometime.

The Sagebrush inn is a very well suited hotel. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and warm, the best part off this hotel is the fantastic rated and free breakfast in the morning, trust me it is a step above the normal breakfast.

This place needs some maintenance and updating… Wifi was out, TV barely worked, indoor hot tub broken, people racing around the parking lot, they have a loud band that plays on Fri/Sat evenings. If you're planning a trip with kids I would look somewhere else. The breakfast was pretty good and the staff was pretty friendly.

This is a comfy spot in Taos. The attached restaurant's breakfast was particularly good, and the front desk staff was beyond accommodating. It's a good location — — close to stuff I want to see and do but not so close that it's noisy. The beds are a little firm for my liking, but the room (we have a suite) is very comfortable. No regrets.

I'm torn. It's great except the Wi-Fi has been down for more than 24 hours. I'm here on business. It's an inordinately long outage such that I wonder if they and the provider are even trying to fix it.

The food is mind blowing but the Wi-Fi is average.

Adorable and quiet historic Taos hotel! We had a great stay, loved the vintage charm in the rooms, the balcony and the breakfast was great to have included! Didn't get to use the bocce ball court or hot tub, but next time we come back we will! Thanks for a great experience and stay in Taos!

This is just an ok place. If it were anywhere else than Taos, I'd rate it a 2. Our room was located next door in the "failed" hotel that the Sagebrush apparently took over a while back. It terribly needs updating. The carpets are very worn and not necessarily clean. Don't let them fool you into one of these rooms by them telling you that your room is not ready yet when you check in. Wait for a room in the main hotel. It's got to be better. The free breakfast was surprisingly good.

While the staff is very friendly, everything feels dated. The furniture in the room is scuffed and stuck in the 90s, the doors are hard to close, paint is peeling on the sign in front of the hotel. Their website says they are working on an update, but I'm guessing this could be a slow, long process.

I've stayed at the Sagebrush several times and love the authentic Taos historic character, great staff, and value. Heading back for the holiday weekend, and will request my usual room. Love it.

Just recently stayed here with my husband and daughter — and we all thoroughly enjoyed this charming place. The atmosphere upon entering the pueblo style architecture with courtyards and walkways was very pleasant. We were immediately drawn into areas that made amazing backdrops for picture taking. Loved the fireplace and were able to get plenty of wood for both nights we stayed — at no charge. The breakfast menu was great and the food excellent (and complimentary! ). Very friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

Great hotel for the money! The staff was extremely friendly. We had a room with a king and a queen bed, and a fireplace. First bundle of wood is free, the next bundle is $4. One bundle lasted us about two hours. Pillows are a bit soft, but the beds are comfy. Windows on both sides of the room mean you can get some air moving through and enjoy those beautiful Taos nights! The breakfast is great! Full-on buffet with scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, a toast/muffins and cereal bar, juices, and good coffee. The only downsides are the small/soft pillows, smallish TV. Overall, great value.

We just stayed there this past weekend and I will never stay there again. The suite was awful with many broken and dirty items. The pool water was literally green. We thought it would be a charming place with an authentic adobe feel — — wrong.

Stayed for two nights. Worst bed I've ever tried to sleep in. The suites were spacious. But the king bed had a board between the mattress and box spring hardest bed ever. Not to mention the mildew smell. Under new mgmt. Hopefully they upgrade the furniture and beds and the carpet. I wouldn't take your shoes off. We go up frequently for hockey. Never stay there again no matter the bargain.
