The grounds are beautiful. The staff was very helpful and nice for the most part. The bed was very comfortable. But, we requested a room on the second floor as is our preference. Instead we got a room on the first floor. We decided to go with it hoping that a hotel of this caliber would have the rooms well insulated. Not so. Each morning I was woken up by the people up above us going to the bathroom. Not a sound anyone wants to hear at that time of day, any time of day. The bath tub/shower was huge and was set in stone. You had to climb up stone stairs and then drop down into the tub. The tub is 24 inches deep. Unless you are very nimble and have very good balance getting in and out of the tub is an athletic event. I am amazed nobody has hurt themselves and generated a lawsuit. In the sitting room there is an old leather couch. When one sits down it sounds like Shrek is having major bowel issues, every time you move Shrek has bowel issues. I named the couch Shrek, better out than in, right? EVERYTHING in the room is made for very tall people. The theme of the room was native american suite. Here's a clue, native americans are not in general large people. At least the ones I have met and I have met quite few. The hotel seems to be set up for business conferences also yet the rooms are not set up for business people. The internet wi fi is very slow for long periods of time. Every business person I know has 2 to 4 gadgets they need to plug in at any given time. All the outlets are down under the desk. How hard is it to bring them up to the desk top for easy access? I have stayed in $69 a night hotels that made this simple effort. The whole place is kind of like that. "Since we are upscale we don't have to try harder. You should be grateful we are letting you stay here. " Parking is $15 a night, $20 for valet. The parking lot was mostly empty the whole time we were here. Hotels will charge for parking if parking is difficult and space limited, such as downtown Santa Fe. There is no reason to charge for parking at this place, there is tons of room. The refrig in the room emits a high pitched squeal which makes me think I am developing tinnitus. For the price we paid, not really that impressed. I have stayed in much better places for less money.
