Reviews of El Monte Sagrado Resort & Spa 4*
Beautiful property. Great service.
Beautiful Place and Friendly. A+++++
We just finished a WONDERFUL 4 night stay at this beautiful resort! Our boys, 7 & 6 years old, had so much fun! The indoor pool was a hit for December swimming! The staff was so accommodating and went above and beyond, to take care of our needs! The property is set up for texting, which was great, allowing for immediate responses to every request! I would recommend the El Monte Sagrado to anyone looking to stay in Taos!
We stayed on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Most Taos restaurants are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The resort is located 1/2 mile from Taos Plaza, but they have a shuttle to take and pick you up. COVID is taken SERIOUSLY! Masks and social distancing inside! The restaurant is closed, but small plates can be ordered from the bar. The indoor pool and hot tub are closed. The staff and concierge are accommodating and will go to great wishes to make your stay very pleasant. Secure onsite self and valet parking is onsite.
The Rooms, location and customer service were Amazing. Marcos was amazing and super attentive to the smallest details!
It’ an awesome place. But I was looking fir small things like shower cap cottons and writing pad.
also we have a broken coffee maker.
This place is amazing. The rooms are exquisite. The resort grounds are so nice and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I liked it so much, I extended my stay.
This location is absolutely amazing and beautiful! I heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a very unique and affordable stay.
I have stayed here on numerous occasions. Always a great stay, View, amenities and pleasant staff!
New Mexico is slowly opening back up and the resort is just the place in Taos to relax and enjoy. The grounds are gorgeous and the plants are amazing! Can’t wait for the pool to open up. Great service and food.
Lovely fireplace, beautiful view to the courtyard with water features, Keurig coffee bar, lovely grounds, allow pets! The art collections, upholstery in the dining area, tapestries, interior design were so tasteful … lovely historic pool table — Short walk into the central town plaza.
Gorgeous place! Rooms are beautiful.
Stay here a lot. Highly recommend. Unique and the staff goes above and beyond.
Absolutely amazing resort with an awesome staff!
Just checked in. While bookings are low, staff has been extraordinary. Especially hunter and jace.
I loved the experience of visiting El monte sagrado! The room was sparkling clean and super big, every single employee we encounter was not only helpful but extremely friendly, it almost felt like a dream. 10/10 perfect for a romantic getway.
Loved the whole place would definitely recommend.
The spa was fantastic! Great customer service and very relaxing. Definitely recommend giving it a try!
Very nice spot great vibe.
Great rooms, great service!
We had the best time on our second trip to El Monte Sagrado! We hadn’t been in 8 years and our experience did not disappoint. Thank you for the amazing upgrade and the perfect ambiance for the best 10th wedding anniversary.
The staff was so wonderful and welcoming we didn’t want to leave. The restaurant was better then we remembered. I could eat that fresh toast all day!
Can’t wait to go back!
Great getaway place specially the employees. Jace and Greg that work the anaconda bar are the best. Quick professional service that expands throughout the whole entire resort. Highly recommend this place when you visit Taos.
One of my favorite places I have been! Beautiful grounds! Spactious rooms! Love this place!
Wonderful place to stay. The rooms and grounds are beautiful.
A great experience that I will always treasure. Beautiful place and environment that everyone should experience.
The ambiance, decor, gardens & staff.
My mom, aunt, grandma and myself stayed here and it was absolutely gorgeous! The beds were so comfortable and anyone that says something bad is just stuck up! Everything about our stay was amazing! Ben the hotel bartender was the best. The breakfast was so good!
Nature at it’s finest. Staff is amazing! Ashley is the best!
Do not stay at this hotel. The service is absolutely terrible.
Beautiful hotel grounds are magnificent — rooms are amazing!
Had a truly wonderful experience here. Have never had such great service. Staff was amazing! They helped my fiancé plan a perfect proposal. Thank you for the extra care and attention to detail. We will be back again and again!
I visited for a meeting. The grounds are beautiful. The scenery is amazing and the facilities are nice. The restrooms off the conference facilities should have seat liners. Valet parking attendants were wonderful.
We celebrated our honeymoon here & loved it! Our Suite was beautiful & the staff were nice enough to provide champagne and a slice of cake accompanied by a very nice card. We will definitely be returning!
This was our first visit to Taos and to El Monte Sagrado. We fell in love with both! Next time we plan to spend more time since we know we love the town and have found a special place to stay. Everything was wonderful. We were met at valet and our bags were whisked to our room. Check in was easy and really appreciated the tour of the property on our way to the room. The room was clean, comfortable and inviting. The food was superb! The grounds were serene and soothing. When it was time to go, valet picked up our bags and by the time we finished check out our car was waiting for us. We didn't get a chance to enjoy the spa or pool this time, so we'll have that to look forward to discovering next time.
We spent 3 nights at this amazing property. We were there for a family wedding. The wedding room rate in Phase II was fair. However, as Dawn walked us to our room it was reveled to involve an up hill ramp. My husband explained that we are at 7, 000 feet elevation and I had one lung removed and I am 81 years old and I cannot do a ramp for 4 days. Dawn said no problem. I'll upgrade you at no extra cost. She took us to Room # 1 off the reception lobby. It was a one bedroom casita with the patio adjacent to the fabulous water landscaped ponds. The room was about 800 sq. Ft. And the interior build out is exquisite. If you could give a property 6 stars we would. Only thing to remember is the bedroom window has wood blinds and we were fortunate to have brought sleeping masks. They need a TV guide in the room. Their breakfasts are great and priced nearly competitive to a Denny's. They do not want you to leave the property. We have traveled extensively through out Europe and the US. This is the finest resort we have ever stayed at.
From the second we drove up with a 38 5th wheel and the valets made room for us to park and disconnect. To the front desk help from Heather and Renata whom exceptional is an understatement. Best service I've received in years. Thank you for making me feel welcome. Now as far as handicap accessibility it's terrible, from heavy doors without openers to bars without the mandatory 60" lower section from 34" to 27" in height and a plethora of obstacles. Ownership needs to address, but the staff is amazing.
This place is absolutely beautiful! Everything is natural and elegant. They run tours where they tell you all about the place. There are multiple dining areas, a salt pool, hot tub, fine art all over the walls and grounds, and even a huge citrine crystal in the main entry area that throws rainbows everywhere. The staff is friendly, it's super clean, and the area is amazing to say the least.
My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend here. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. We were checked in and given a tour by Ben. Alec is a great bartender. Maria is an exceptional waitress. Every staff member we encountered was incredibly polite and helpful. Housekeeping wasn't top notch in cleaning and servicing our room, but I don't have any major complaints. The texting system they have is amazing! I utilized that service several times throughout our stay. I definitely recommend, and we will be back!
The service here is horrendous. I am currently a guest at this property, and while the rooms and property are very nice, it is like pulling teeth to get any help from any of the people that work here. Don't bother calling room service or guest service, nobody will answer the phone. For the amount of money spent to stay here, we shouldn't have chase down somebody to answer simple questions. We came to El Monte Sagrado to enjoy a long, relaxing weekend and, instead, we are having to deal with incompetent employees and a management team that relies too heavily on the beauty of their property to ensure a good guest experience. You are better off staying at a Motel 6.
Beautiful grounds with an exceptionally friendly staff! We came here for a wedding weekend and had an amazing time! It's also within walking distance of the main area of Taos where there are a bunch of restaurants and shops! Can't wait to visit again!
Quiet and Relaxing. The grounds at El Monte are filled with lush flowers and a stream. Very beautiful place to get away. Great food and amenities.
Beautiful, first class, and an excellent staff. The rooms are perfect with balconies, garden tub, rain shower heads and a fireplace. A salt water indoor swimming pool and restaurant with an exceptional menu. A very affordable first class experience. I absolutely love this place. And, did I mention they are PET FRIENDLY?!
The website Falsely claims a soaking tub in rooms with a king. The hotel doesn't use fitted sheets. The pillows are extremely soft, not in a good way, but the lacks any support way. The valets may not be there during hours they claim to have valet. The valet called us after 9pm to move our car, claiming it was blocking other cars. It was not. Our rooms door was faulty. The key wouldn't work. We had to go back to the front desk three times before someone finally came to our room to let us in after using the pool. We were wet and it was cold outside waiting to be let in our own room. A little birdie told us that room always has issues with the lock. Our toilet had a weak flush. The mattress is extremely soft. My back hurt so bad after one night, I regretted reserving two nights. The room was decked out in cow hide. Ordinary room they called the mountain king. Not like in the pictures. The rest of the hotel is beautiful. But buildings are not connected, so in winter prepare to deal with the cold if you want to enjoy the pool room or bar. Bring a jacket to the pool in case you get locked out of your room. That pool was worth it. It's a tropical oasis. Overall, not worth $200/n.
It was a very lovely hotel. The spa was especially wonderful. The staff at the spa were extremely helpful and more then willing to accommodate any of my needs. The room itself was very lovely and fantastic.
We stayed for 4 nights in one of the Taos mountain rooms. Everything was great, the staff friendly and helpful, the campus beautiful. We had a couple's massage in the spa and I highly recommend it we left feeling amazing.
This was our first stop on our honeymoon, and it was very last minute and we are so glad we made it to Taos. The town is nothing impressive but the Resort is really needle in a haystack stack. It was absolutely beautiful! We're in Vegas now wishing we were back there in our lil Oasis. Will most definitely be back. The room was very clean and the grounds we're breathtaking. The food was top notch. The only complain we had at all was that we didn't get to stay longer and try out the spa.
Very quiet, family friendly resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed the hot tub and heated salt water pool. Great location and they even have a shuttle bus.
Everything has been excellent. People with kids above us kept us awake & hotel upgraded us to a top floor suite. That was extremely nice. Will come back forsure.
The rooms and grounds are beautiful. The staff and service are not. Omar at the front desk is condescending when dealing when customers. At $500+ per night for a Global Suite, one would think they would show more concern for the comfort of their guests. The radiant floor heating in the Argentina suite was/is broken making it extraordinarily hot in the room. Called guest services and they sent Engineering who advised us to open windows during the night and that he would shut off the valve for the radiant heating so it would no longer activate. If anything, the room continued to get warmer to the point that we could not touch certain parts of the floor barefoot or with our skin due to the heat. After a sleepless night, I went to Guest Services (Omar) and explained the situation. His response was, “So… do you want me to send Engineering to fix it now… or when you check out this morning? ” No concern. No offer to remedy the situation. Total indifference. When the bellman came to get our luggage he came inside and immediately stated that it felt like an oven in the room. My wife again spoke to Omar and another female in Guest Services on the way out and told them that they would need to credit us back some of the room charge due to the state of the room and all of the customer service failures. The female staff member was also indifferent, but stated she would take care of it.
The hotel staff were very accommodating and the room and resort were really wonderful. This is an excellent place to have a romantic weekend getaway. Only a few hours drive from Denver. Definitely worth the trip.
Absolutely awesome place to stay. The staff was outstanding and very attentive. When we asked them for anything they were quick to. Get it for us. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Location was great. Gorgeous scenery. Rooms were decorated nicely but the walls were thin. Evening concierge was not very helpful but the morning concierge was professional and apologetic. We were computed for our inconveniences. Would visit again but will stay in the newer rooms.
This was mine and my husband's get away for Valentine's day. We stayed here last year for the same thing. When we got to our room, it was very cold, the thermostat said 54. It took a while to get the room heated but eventually we got it warm. There was a spider in the shower and we found some sort of syringe in the bedroom under one of the night stands. We notified the front desk, they cleaned the room again and they gave us a free breakfast and two glasses of wine. The hotel is very nice and we would stay again because of the beautiful rooms and property.
In absolute terms, I think this place deserves three stars. Why? 1. Its cleaning staff is terrible. 2. Good luck getting a breakfast on time. 3. Pool area has a "used" feel and reminds me of a Motel 6. The reason we are giving them ONE STAR is because nothing is absolute. Everything, including ratings, is RELATIVE to PRICE. And given that this hotel tries to pass itself off as a five star resort with five star prices, it needs to grow up and get new management. For decades, this place operated without competition in the Taos area. However, with the Blake opening up in Taos Ski Valley, I suspect they will see a drop off in capacity. My family will be staying at the Blake next time.
El Monte Sagrado is a wonderful place to stay in Taos and would highly recommend it. It is close to town (walkable distance) but not off the main street making for a quiet experience and easier to get in and out of than others. The rooms are very clean and have very neat decor the gas fireplace was a plus (for winter visitors) only downfall is that we could hear others in the hallway quite clearly. The service here was wonderful and all the staff we interacted with we're polite and on top of whatever you needed.
This is hands down the best hotel in the area. The staff is super friendly and the indoor pool is one of the best I have ever seen. There is also a huge atrium area that is super cool. My suggestion to the GM. Add some lights to the atrium area, natural music etc. I’ve stayed in several Four Seasons, and other high end resorts. You have a hidden gem with this rock pool grotto and your totally down playing it. The atrium needs lights, natural music etc. It is absolutely an amazing resort and well worth the cost. I stayed in the Jim Thorpe room and was not disappointed at all. FYI, the Cheese Enchiladas are super hot so beware.
My family and I checked into the Morocco, suite, for 1 night. We checked in at the front desk and the lady took us to the suite and showed us around. It was very positive to see the interest from front desk person to see that passion for our satisfaction. The suite was very comfortable and a good fit for the 5 of us. We had a hot tub that was great, just needed some lighting around the stairs as was very dark, safety concern. The decor was very nice, ice took too long as first request never showed up after a call later the person on the phone brought us ice directly. Our couch did have stains and needed significant deep cleaning. Breakfast was very good, service was great. The valet team was awesome. Some additional yard cleaning was necessary as leaves were in need of cleanup everywhere, great place! We really enjoyed our stay and just wanted to point out some easily corrected situations to make the experience the best it could be.
Dakkya Gallery in El Monte Sagrado.
Stayed in one of the premium suites for our 10 year anniversary. The grounds are serene and immaculate. Great location in Taos with a shuttle service to all the locations. Very relaxing. Will definitely return.
Came here for my honeymoon. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The services are exemplary. Everything about the place raises the bar. Being able to text the front desk was extremely helpful. Two thumbs up from me.
This review is for the bar and restaurant. Waited 20 minutes to order and they were unable to make a simple drink when I finally did get someone to wait on us. The assistant manager working behind the bar was extremely rude and the bar was completely empty (wonder why? ). It breaks my to write this, and it's a true shame, because this place used to be great, but it has seen much better days since the new management took over. It's a ghost town now and with good reason. Look elsewhere in Taos — there are a lot of really great places that put this place to shame.
This is an amazing place to stay! The rooms are comfortable, the food is good, and the staff is top rate. Andrea is awesome and if you have any questions or need anything, she is the one to see. I have really enjoyed my stay.
El Monte Sagrado has beautiful grounds, friendly staff, and is very close to the Taos Plaza. I was especially pleased that they allowed dogs, and they treated them like part of the family. The plaza is a short walk from El Monte Sagrado, but you could honestly enjoy your stay without leaving the hotel grounds. The food delivered to our room was good, flavorful and they split the order for us. I would recommend checking out the pool area, because it's beautiful even if you don't swim. We saw very few people during our weekend trip, and that may be because we visited during their off season. I would recommend booking during the off season if you want peace, tranquility, and to enjoy the grounds without interacting with other humans. One thing of note is that we stayed in one of the casitas, which had it's own patio area. I would definitely recommend booking one of these suites over the mountain rooms if you have dogs, kids, or just want a more private experience. Overall I am very pleased. They made our second anniversary a memorable one!
While the staff are very courteous, the hotel is not up to the standard the price implies. Looks worn, door to our building has broken lock, rough tissues hurt my nose, had to buy decent ones. Housekeeping didn't impress either, left dirty glasses and coffee cups sitting around, floor didn't appear vacuumed. Called and reported it when we noticed after breakfast. Came back again after dinner, floor looked better, but dirty dishes were still there. Took a second call to get fresh glasses and mugs, but they still left dirty glasses. Sadly, this not at all the place I remembered. I will not be returning.
Love to stay at this hotel is relaxing and rooms are nice we really enjoyed our stay, would give 5 starts if I didt have to wait so long to get in to the room 4pm check in time is not acceptable.
I stared working at this place and I am enjoying the atmosphere it's a beautiful relaxing experience. My only wish is to someday be on the opposite side of the coin if you know what I mean.
Excellent resort hotel. The grounds are peaceful! Wonderful pool area too! Friendly staff! Overal Nice accommodations!
Please note: we only went to the spa and had lunch there. Food was delicious. Relaxing and professional spa. Tranquil setting. The staff is very personal and accommodating. Melissa was excellent.
We have stayed at El Monte Sagrado a few times now, and love the rooms and grounds. While this is definitely a 5 star resort, I am giving it 4 stars for the pricing. You get what you pay for, but sometimes it costs a hundred dollars more than you expected due to hidden fees and "weekend rates" I highly recommend walking the grounds.
This place is not deserving of a 4* class ranking. El Monte has 3* staff, facilities, and grounds. They are not going above and beyond and there were many disappointments and issues. At one time this place might have been great but it hasn't been kept up. The Spa has terrific services and even though one of their front desk women was very rude (which is a theme in Taos), the rest of staff were absolutely fantastic.
The brochure was the highlight of El Monte. Don't waste your money staying here, just visit the spa.
I recently completed chemotherapy and was in need of a little break. This place is very relaxing and although only. 5 mile from the square, it feels very secluded. The Living Spa is excellent. Only issue I would have is that room was not serviced at all. It is now 700PM and no fresh towels or restock on coffee. I noticed other reviews mention same thing. No information provided on whether this is only on request. Seems to me, for the price and service fees charged on everything, it should be a must.
The grounds are beautiful, however I will never stay here again or recommend it to anyone. It is not worth the price AT ALL. In fact, this facility will rob you! We had one of the 2 bedroom suites with a hot tub. Well, after the wedding we went back to our suite to relax only to find the hot tub was not working. The water was cold. We called, they sent someone: he said give it a few hours. We waited — lukewarm. So we decided to take a bath. Only to find that the tub doesn't plug, so we shared one bathroom. Finally, I went to watch a movie before bed and the TV had a blue line down if. Seriously? $400 for no hot tub, broken bath, weird annoying line on TV? In the morning we woke up and decided to use the hot tub before we left, as it supposedly just needed time to warm up. Went outside: lukewarm. At checkout we attempted to politely explain to the front desk, she offered to waive a resort fee of $27. Then said "I mean is that enough? I don't know what you want? " I asked for a manager. He offered 15% off. Awesome. Whatever, but better than $27. Checked my credit card and I received a $50 credit toward a $500 bill (room plus 1 meal in their restaurant) what an insult! I gave half a grand for a broken room. Literally every reason for the suite was unavailable. I spent that much for a king bed I guess. Beware. Oh, and I took pictures for evidence. Happy to share if anyone has further questions. So sad. My close friend's wedding tainted by the memory of this place!
If I could give a 10 I would. The staff here is amazing, our room was more than expected. The only down side is we had a mountain view room and could not see the mountain. That was deceiving. All and all no complaints. From our check in with Andrea, the great service for dinner to time spent with Steve for our night caps it was truly a wonderful experience. Hats off to the staff who made the experience a special one.
The room my husband and I stayed in was gorgeous and spacious. The entire room was open, even the huge bathtub which was okay. When we booked the room, we were supposed to get some bath salts, however they were not in the room. We called the receptionist and they were very helpful in getting the bath salts. They also gave us a free bottle of wine for the inconvenience, which was more than I expected since I just wanted the bath salts. It was a good red wine. We had breakfast at the on-site restaurant but wasn't impressed compared to the other staff. We waited a long time to be seated (no one was at the counter to seat us) and the food took a long time as well. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we ordered so it shouldn't have taken as long as it did to get the food. Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely book another room here!
Gorgeous grounds and uniquely appointed rooms. Not exceptionally child friendly. Front desk staff was not particularly friendly. Can't say enough great things about the valet and bell hop staff, just amazing service!
I loved this hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed here over his birthday weekend and wish we could've stayed longer. The valets at the front were very inviting and friendly. They offered to take our bags and even walked us to the front desk, while making conversation. We loved the ambiance of the hotel, and our room was extremely pleasant. Came with a balcony with a gorgeous view, warm fireplace, extremely comfortable beds, huge bathtub and shower, and overall spacious. I called ahead of time because I was having balloons delivered, and asked the balloons to be scattered around the room. They decorated the room with the balloons beautifully, even putting one in the shower! Loved our stay here. Very pleased. One request though, for such a huge bath tub, please include a bubble bath toiletry!
Absolutely fantastic and beautiful grounds, and just a very tranquil and relaxing Taos experience (as someone who visits Taos on a regular basis). Has a very relaxing getaway feel, while also being within walking distance of the main Taos plaza.
Beautiful scenery, great staff. Spa was amazing!
El Monte Sagrado provided wonderful service our entire stay! They have a complimentary shuttle that takes you around Taos, and all the staff was amazingly accommodating! They even gave me a special treat for my birthday trip!
Loved this resort. Global suite, Merrakah decorated beautifully. Have our own outdoor hottub! Grounds are well maintain, friendly staff and great indoor pool for the kids. We have to check out spa today. It's been a wonderful experience for our family.
Stayed in one of the fantastic casitas. Really comfortable and spacious. Also really enjoyed the indoor pool, perfect for year-round swimming.
Very nice and clean rooms. Friendly staff and great food.
The grounds are beautiful. The staff was very helpful and nice for the most part. The bed was very comfortable. But, we requested a room on the second floor as is our preference. Instead we got a room on the first floor. We decided to go with it hoping that a hotel of this caliber would have the rooms well insulated. Not so. Each morning I was woken up by the people up above us going to the bathroom. Not a sound anyone wants to hear at that time of day, any time of day. The bath tub/shower was huge and was set in stone. You had to climb up stone stairs and then drop down into the tub. The tub is 24 inches deep. Unless you are very nimble and have very good balance getting in and out of the tub is an athletic event. I am amazed nobody has hurt themselves and generated a lawsuit. In the sitting room there is an old leather couch. When one sits down it sounds like Shrek is having major bowel issues, every time you move Shrek has bowel issues. I named the couch Shrek, better out than in, right? EVERYTHING in the room is made for very tall people. The theme of the room was native american suite. Here's a clue, native americans are not in general large people. At least the ones I have met and I have met quite few. The hotel seems to be set up for business conferences also yet the rooms are not set up for business people. The internet wi fi is very slow for long periods of time. Every business person I know has 2 to 4 gadgets they need to plug in at any given time.
First time to Taos and didn't know where to stay. Sad to say the place that we booked was not up to our taste so we canceled and asked around and were told about El Monte. We are going back next weekend! My wife and I both loved it!
We got an upgrade to a Global Suite. The room was beautifully decorated and designed in and out. We were very impressed with the staff and services there. Everyone was so professional, nice and friendly to the guests. We highly recommended this place for either personal or business events.
Beautiful rooms, very well decorated public spaces, eager and friendly staff. Really loved the spacious bathrooms with a large walk in shower and huge bathtub. The only reason it's a 4 instead of 5 is a lack of vending machines / gift shop. But there is a large mini fridge.
Beautiful place. Had our wedding here and it was everything we expected. The point of contact Peggy was wonderful, the manager of the anaconda who's name I didn't get was awesome. All the staff were so nice and super attentive. Bartenders make great cocktails and are superb servers. Our wedding was the intimate package, and the photographer and afficient they got for us were so nice and professional, I just can't say enough good things about our experience. We literally did no planning and it turned out great. Aside from all that, the place is amazing. The food is top notch, chef Ramsey would be impressed I'm sure. Best rib eye I've ever had, hands down. Our personal waitress, Dee, was great. I will definitely come back for our anniversary.
The premises are beautiful but the staff is rude — specifically Chris, a front desk attendant answering phones. She was condescending on the phone and even patronizingly called me "sweetheart" when I told her she was being rude.
The El Monte is the perfect place for your wedding in Taos, NM! The El Monte Sagrado consistently makes my job (a Taos wedding photographer) easy. Their unique grounds and gardens and mountain views create a perfect backdrop which lends itself so nicely to photography. I would recommend this venue for a wedding and reception if you are looking for an elegant taste of Taos.
Stunning property in a really cool town. Best of all my wife was delighted. Staff was outstanding and we will come back.
Property is gorgeous. Location is great — walked to all the best galleries and restaurants/bars. LOVED LOVED our room! (Except it was weird that they had a window between the shower and the toilet room. I get the need for natural light, but whoa. Weird. ) Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. Indoor pool and other facilities were SO gorgeous. Check-out took FOREVER — — probably because we wanted to use a Marriott e-gift card to pay. But they did act like we had forever to wait for them. She seemed distracted/overwhelmed. So, maybe a one-time situation? Otherwise service everywhere was top notch. We'd totally go back! Ours was a couple's getaway but we think the kids would be happy there, too.
I am not usually one to write bad reviews but I just have to say that we were extremely disappointed in the quality of food at El Monte Sagrado. We dined in the bar because there was not a soul in the restaurant. The service was slow and the food was hardly edible. The Tuna tacos were cold with BROWN guacamole, my husband's burger was burnt, way past medium rare and served with cold cheese. Cocktails were O. K with a high dollar price tag. The bartender waited on us even though he had customers at the bar and he did the best he could with being the only one! There was not one thing that we thought was worth it! Would have rather gone anywhere else! The only memorable thing about our experience there was that it was overpriced and terrible.

One of the most beautiful resort / spa’s I’ve had the pleasure of staying at. It was wonderful to sit outside my room overlooking 3 beautiful ponds! The grounds around the resort are amazing. Two days was not enough, I will be back!
