When you stay at a motel, you're staying for cheap and cost effective. This place actually blew my expectations out of the water. It was super clean and looked updated. Yes the ceiling is old, but the bathroom was pleasant and bright. The bed was comfortable, a little springy but that's ok. The water pressure is outstanding and it was hot. The only thing is the heater/AC was loud but it kept the room to the right temperature. I recommend this motel if you're in the area. We stayed there as we were skiing at Catamount. We discussed staying there again actually and are planning to once we get another day at the mountain sometime in March.

Great location, large clean room and friendly staff. The slightly musty smell kept this from being 5 stars.

We stayed here over Christmas, the double queens sized room was ideal for our family. The key points are the hotels location. It is surrounded by great places to eat and drink. The ski resorts of Butternut and Catamount are within easy driving range. The manager couldn't have been friendlier. The rooms were clean and well maintained. We had a great stay and hope to return.

This place was great! The room was very clean, spacious, beds and pillows comfy. The staff was friendly and courteous. The location is perfect and for a much lower price than the hotels in that area. I will definately come back!

Clean, clean, clean. Staff was friendly and informed. Maybe the motel style is a bit dated, but the place is well-located, and beds and linens were great! I'll go again. My pug Ziva agrees.

I've stayed here a couple of times. I'm from Texas and my wife is from New York. Her grandmother lived in Housatonic. I found a room key for this hotel on eBay and bought it for my wife because of the memories!

Fair price for a clean, nice room!

This place is fantastic! It looks like a pretty standard motel from the outside, but the inside is as clean and well-maintained as any mid-range hotel chain — but for less than half the price! (I heard a rumor that the family that runs this place also runs the brand new chain hotel just behind it, and I'm under the impression that the two properties are furnished and maintained identically. ) The owner/manager was really helpful and accommodating when we arrived a little later than expected (ie, 2 am) and helped us with restaurant recommendations in the area. It's close to everything in Great Barrington (but what isn't? ) and is conveniently located near the Kmart and the Price Chopper, as well as a couple of restaurants. I definitely recommend this place.

I hate chains — chain restaurants, chain stores and chain hotels. The Monument Mountain Motel represents everything that's right about America. It is a local family-owned business. The owner-operator is a local resident who loves Great Barrington and realizes that he is fortunate to live in such a great town. His profits go back into the community. My car broke down in Great Barrington as I was driving north on Route 7. I was lucky to find the Monument Mountain Motel, and the owner was happy to give me a room for a price lower than advertised on the Internet. What I found was a room that was small but adequate. Everything worked perfectly, from the ample heat to the hot shower. The place was spotless. The bed was perfect for me. The next morning, I found a place to fix my car, thanks to the lady at the Home Sweet Home Doughnut shop down the street. Even though it was Sunday, the gentleman at Apex Auto fixed my car. I was on the road again at 10 AM. I don't know for sure, but I think karma had something to do with my success that morning, and somehow, the Monument Mountain Motel was a part of that. I will go back to the Monument Mountain Motel, and I will have a doughnut and coffee at the Home Sweet Home Doughnut Shop. Hopefully, I won't need Apex Auto again, but if I do, it's nice to know they're there. Great Barrington represents everything that's right about America, and so does the Monument Mountain Motel.

Very Very Pleased with our stay. Clean room, comfortable bed and spacious, clean and updated bathroom. Heating unit worked great. Quiet. Refrigerator and microwave in the room. Broad Cable TV selection. Daily maid service for a budget motel. Very nice and friendly motel manager. Great value and great location.

Stayed ione night here and would stay again. When I pulled up yesterday my first impression was not too good. Old looking place with too many years on it. But when I got into the room I knew I was wrong. Very clean room and recently remodeled. Bathroom was larger than you'd expect and the room had a fridge and microwave. The hotel is right off the road so I was concerned about noise from traffic. Once night time came the noise was never an issue. The rate I got was very fair and reasonable. There is no breakfast here, or at least I don't believe there is. The lobby is very small. I could have paid $70 more and stayed at the newer Comfort Inn Suites behind this hotel but I'm glad I didn't.
