Enjoyable, friendly, clean, pool.

Everything was very nice. Just wish they had some gluten free and soy free breakfast options.

NIce hotel, recently refurbished with new beds. They were very comfortable! Rest of the room was clean and perfectly fine. Very convenient for Newport and cheaper than actually staying in Newport. Good pool.

Great staff. If you book at a booking-site they will work with the site to resolve any issues, allowing you to check in efficiently and enjoy your stay. Doors are a little thin but overall great stay!

Nice and clean. Out of Newport hubbub yet 5 minutes to all that Newport gives you plus plenty of free parking and a decent free breakfast. Nice selection of inexpensive local eats nearby that would cost more just because your in Newport. In the neighborhood where the locals live and shop. Sorry I recently said Mystic where I also visited this week but this review is for the Middletown Newport Holiday Inn Express. The staff from the reception to the housekeeping to the breakfast service were all kind helpful and friendly.

Left another hotel up the road (ambassador inn) because it was atrocious to say the very least. Brooke the night time Supervisor was so sweet and accommodating. I called the Holiday Inn prior to getting out of that other place and explained our situation to her. Right away she got us a room and at a good rate especially because I’m a rewards member. Totally saved our anniversary weekend!

Great room! Continental Breakfast. A pool, but not too impressive. Great exercise room.

Excellent central location. Very clean and helpful employees. Decent parking and shops nearby to walk to.

This was our 3rd stay & each time was great. Close to town, great breakfast, staff knowledge of area great. Can't wait to return.

After the new renovation the place looks great. However I stayed on the second floor and every door on every room slams and shakes the whole floor. They seriously have to do something about that. I got woken up 3 times way too early.

We checked in at 3 but we're told they didn't have any rooms ready. We waited over an hour for a room which normally wouldn't be too big of a deal except we were visiting for a wedding and needed to be ready by 4:30. Other than that the room was very nice and clean.

Rooms are newly renovated and very chic. Breakfast is complementary… it was over before time, but the breakfast manager responded as soon as I complained about that.

We were able to get s tour of the new rooms and everything looks amazing! Loved the international plugs and the rooms are so big with natural light. Ted is so friendly and I looking forward to getting many of our brides ready there! Kudos to the upgrades!

Nice motel and they were working on updating the rooms so I'd say go for it.

Second time I have been there and both times were great. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Within 3 miles of all attractions.

Stayed in one of their recently renovated rooms and have got to say it is one of the nicest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in — am not exaggerating. Bed was very comfortable, large screen TV was great along with the very nice furniture; large desk & office chair and other great amenities. Rochelle was the extremely nice lady that that I spoke with in making the reservation and she was so professional and helpful. When I arrived she checked me in and was very efficient and polite. She also knows the area well and gave me some suggestions on local sights to see the following day. Wish more front desk personnel were like her.

It's a very nice place and the new rooms are so nice and beautiful. Good breakfast.

Well I must say this has been BY FAR the best hotel we have stayed in. We are insurance adjusters and the amount of hotels we stay in are vast. We ran into a small hiccup but it was taken care of immediately. The friendly staff, clean rooms, great breakfast, newly renovated rooms made us feel as if we were home in Erie PA. The management group here treats guests as every management should which is above and beyond expectations. Thank you Holiday Inn Middletown/Newport we will be back if we have work this way!

Drove 3 hours in snow blizzard with wife and kids and when I finally got there the receptionist told us that they were all booked and could not honor my on-line reservation. They overbooked my reservation and left us hanging.

Great place to stay in Newport. They have renovated the 3rd floor, everything is brand new and fresh.

Free breakfast was okay, staff was nice. The room however, was a mess. The bath tub had dirt all over the floor. I'm not sure if it was stained in at that point, or if it had just not been scrubbed after the previous guest. Either way, I did not feel comfortable using it. There were scraps of toilet paper left on the floor, and the window had a rusty razor blade in the track. The room was not safe and I don't think it was very sanitary.

This was by far my worst experience with the Holiday Inn. When we arrived we were ignored by the front desk until he finally decided to look up from the desk. No hello no welcome just a dry, Do you have a reservation. We had booked a room with a Jacuzzi. The room they gave us had no view other than the A. C. Unit outside our window. When we left our room togo to the pool we realized our door doesn't lock and while at the pool. We realized that the Jacuzzi in the pool area was gone due to renovations. They said they didn't update their website. Also if you stand above 5ft in height don't plan on swimming the pool is an average of 3ft. Great for Little kids only! After a room change from room 125 to 104 we were up at the crack of dawn because our new and improved room was near the supply closet where the 54" wallcoverings were being stored, moved, and dropped at 7am. The plus of the hotel was only that it had new furnishings in the lobby and pool area. While checking out we also noticed fraudulent activity on our Ihg account for the same hotel… To say the least one star is too good for the what we are still trying to fix now at home over the phone with IHG.

Was a great stay, the staff was very helpful with the extra arrangements needs for a handicap person. Enjoy my stay there.

I love this location. I dont live to far away and when ever my wife and I need a night out in new port we stay here. Good breakfast and the staff is always helpful and friendly. Better then most other ING locations I have been to. Their under going renovations now. Cant wait to see how its going to look when done.

Our room was clean. It was pretty spacious for a regular room with a king bed. Breakfast was included with the price. The location is great. Close to Newport and the vineyards.

Room smelled like mildew. Great big spiders in the bedroom. There is black mold growing in the bathroom, and no fan. Room keys stopped working several times. The TV channel list is out of date. The TV channels are barely functional and keep glitching out. Beds are mostly comfortable with no evidence of bedbugs. Can open the window a tiny bit to let some air in.

The staff was nice but it ends there, sadly under staffed. They messed up check in for me and my guest. Then the room was neat but worn. Not at all stalked for the number of people. The bathroom sink will not drain. The pool was cloudy and the door lock was broken couldn't even get in. Not that I would of swam in it anyway. So disappointed would never stay at another place with this name.

It has been an excellent stay. Easy check in and a decent breakfast. The staff has been very prompt and friendly.

I was supposed to stay here tonight and had a personal emergency come up that required me to cancel my stay. The manager Sarah was so sweet and helpful. I really appreciated her time to help and will definitely stay here in the future if I need a hotel in Newport.

The room was clean, service was great, and the entire experience was very satisfactory.

I can't say enough good things about this location and this chain! We (my boyfriend and I) were in town for 4 days for a wedding of a dear friend. Arriving well after midnight our first night, we were greeted by a very friendly staff member at the front desk, and given lots of info about amenities, breakfast times, etc. We stayed in a room with 1 King bed. It was a wonderful size room for the two of us, plenty of room to move around without stepping on each other. The couch and coffee table were lovely. I am gluten free and dairy free so the fridge was a must for me… we arrived with a cooler full of watermelon and strawberries which I immediately put in the fridge and enjoyed throughout the weekend. I cannot review housekeeping other than to say our room was very clean upon arrival, as we left the do not disturb sign up for the duration of our stay, but everyone we encountered on staff was friendly and helpful. Ample parking. Comfortable bed. Nice desk… my boyfriend was able to get some work done while I was off with the other bridesmaids. We would gladly stay here again if we went back to Newport. It took hardly any time at all to get to the wedding venue on Goat Island and navigation was pretty easy. Thank you for an excellent experience, HI Express!

Had a great stay here for this past weekend during graduation for area universities. Rooms are clean, housekeeping was efficient, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent!

Everything is fine, it would be nice of there were some basic utensils in the room to eat left overs with.

Rooms were not ready on time. Beds were comfortable and provided a crib for the baby with no issue.

Nice, clean, helpful staff. Free parking as well.

Our stay was pretty good! Easy to locate, restaurant practically IN the parking lot, and a comfortable stay. Was slightly disappointed to find lukewarm/old coffee in the lobby at 4:30 am, but the front desk agent was already setting up breakfast (which wasn't due until 6:30) and made a fresh pot for us. Well-rested and hot coffee in hand I was able to set off to go work the Pell Bridge Run.

On 4 different occasions — they called to tell me there was a plumbing issue in the room I had booked — 4 times! Total bullshit — they over book every weekend and first come first serve… I called their bluff last time and said we wouldn't be there until late so they time to repair it — the girl didn't know what to say — stay away — this place is run by assholes.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights on our honeymoon. Loved the king sized bed and it was nice to have a laundry room on site although there was only one washer/dryer present, so there was a line when I went to use it. We only got to use the pool once and there were hardly any other guests present, which was nice. We also only got to take advantage of the complimentary breakfast once as the second day we went to get breakfast, the majority of the food was gone. We waited for the food to be replaced, but we were in a hurry and couldn't wait long. Also, the Wi-Fi was not working a lot more times than it was working, which was a big annoyance for ones that use it all the time. It would work for a few seconds and then stop working over and over again.

I will never stay here again. Their "Wi-Fi" is the slowest and spottiest I've ever experienced, yet they hype up their "complimentary high speed wireless Internet. " The front desk associate told me, after I inquired, that their Wi-Fi is an old system that cuts in and out a lot. It's false advertising, and inexcusable. Stay somewhere else.
