Unfortunately, this Motel 6 seems to have a lot of long term residents. The smell in the hallways (especially when you first walk to the stairs) is really bad — cigarette smoke, mustiness — I had to hold my nose every time I walked in. The room did not have quite as bad a smell, but there was still something funky in there. The toilet was completely stained with brown streaks from the running water. The drain in the bathtub was broken. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. There was a small cigarette burn on one of sheets. The walls were very thin and there were people up until 5:00 AM either in the hallway or in the rooms near us. We tried to find another hotel that night, but everything was full. We did check out one day early the next morning and moved to the Holiday Inn Express across the street. I will say that the front desk staff were perfectly nice, but the facilities are really terrible. We have had satisfactory stays at other Motel 6's, but this last experience makes we want to avoid all Motel 6's in the future.

The place is clean; rooms are comfortable — — everything works! And the staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. Because they did not have a microwave and fridge available — — and the fridge is what I really needed to keep some medication cold — — Julie, who was at the front desk, offered to keep it in the house fridge overnight. The place is convenient — — right off of US 91 and on Rt. 1. There are also many good places to eat very close by. There is also a CVS within walking distance. This is definitely my "go to place" when I am in this area. And my dogs love it, too!

If you’re looking for a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in, this is the place for you… however… if you are looking for much more than that, seek an alternate location. Here are my reasons why (in no particular order) 1. Thin walls/doors allow you to hear EVERYONE EVERYTHING (including the obnoxious ice maker) at all hours of the night. 2. No furniture in the rooms besides the bed. Not only does the cause the room to echo enormously (no carpet), but I also don’t want to get into bed until I am ready for bed… no choice here. 3. You have to pay a fee for the Wi-Fi, and it is only good for one device. So if you have kids, either dig deep in your wallet, or determine which child you like best and give the access to them. 4. No shampoo — just a bar of soap. 5. Towels have the same texture as steel wool. 6. Hair in the shower and sink… gross! 7. The whole building just smells of smoke mixed with an air freshener… not pleasant. So, if $70 is all you can come up with for a night, you’ll be high and dry here, just don’t expect any creature comforts to come with it.

This is one of the larger and shabbier M6 properties I've stayed at. Previous guest's hair decorates the room, including the short curlies. : — (But it is one of the cheapest rooms in the area, earning it 2 stars instead of 1 for being "appropriately" priced. EDIT: I would now rate this property at "-5" stars. Note to Owner — I was present when your manager was interviewing a prospective new employee. Don't try to patronize me. I am fully aware of your pay rate to your housekeeping staff. Do you REALLY want me to publicly release the footage I shot while your manager told her new hire "the way it is"?

Very friendly reservation process, friendly check-in and nice and clean room. Would add a slightly improved breakfast with simple food if possible at all.

Very clean place. You get a good value for your money. We shopped around because we were on a budget and spending a few nights in southern New England. We decided to stay at another location and was equally impressed.

Another great stay at Motel 6. Everything was in order here. For $60 you will hardly find a better value. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean especially hard wood floors.

Maintenance guy there named Shawn is very quick to fix any problem, very professional, sufficient, polite and also checked in on us later to see if everything was working. If it wasn’t for his help it wouldn’t of been an enjoyable stay. So thank you Shawn.

The room was clean and so was the bathroom. The person at front desk service was quick and very polite. It isn’t a 5 star hotel but if you are looking for an inexpensive place to rest and get a shower this place is perfect.

Nice place to stay with our dog. It's motel 6, so nothing fancy. We appreciated that the rooms have a solid floor (laminate? ), not carpet. It just felt cleaner and is a much better flooring for pet rooms. The decor was not dated, but the bedspread and shower curtain were worn and had a few holes. The room itself was extremely clean. Everything felt fresh. Bathroom was a really good size. Room was also a good size, with a small table and chair. We didn't love the sheets (very scratchy) and the mattress was not comfortable, but these were not deal breakers. Staff was pleasant. Price seemed a little high for a motel 6, but overall we were very satisfied and would stay there again with our dog.

The grounds, parking lot and building were all very clean & well lit. The staff was friendly & helpful! Definitely will be back!

My boyfriend and I roll up to police cars surrounding the entrance to the motel 0 (as in star rating). We were so nervous that we had to ask one of the police officers if it was okay to step inside. When we get to the front desk to check in, the guy who seems to own this motel was so rude and had no hospitality. There was no professionalism when we were there and they didn't even give us the room we booked because their website mixed them all up. We get to our room and don't even bother taking our shoes off because we can already tell that this room hasn't had a maid step in it since the day they opened. We go over to the window to see the "view" we had, and as we're holding the rod to slide the curtain over, it falls off because it was on attached with a PAPER CLIP. Then we go over to the bathroom and the towel rack was basically falling off the wall and the bathtub had red stains in it! For fear of bed bugs, we checked the whole entire mattress, put all of the sheets on the floor, and slept on towels. The walls were so thin in this place that we had to listen to some guy throwing up all night long. We barely made it through the night and actually debated sleeping in our car. I would never sleep at this hotel or any other motel 6 ever again! Looking back, this motel probably had wood floors because they could not afford to clean carpet on the daily since they constantly get messy from the type of people that stay there.

A motel with a large parking lot for cars and trucks. Lots of inexpensive rooms. The room has a bathroom with WC, a bed, a table with a TV, a chair, a nightstand and a hanger. Breakfast is coffee.

It's good for the price. I really like that the heat uses a specific temperature setting, not one of those high-medium-low dials that leaves you guessing. I would have liked a small shampoo in the bathroom. I didn't bring any assuming it would be there. We also could have used a Do Not Disturb card to hang on the door. One of the towels had a small hairball stuck to it (I heard another guest at the front desk mention the same thing.

We thought this was a terrible motel. If you read the other reviews you'll notice these repeated complains: Hairy sheets, people loitering around the lobby, a stink of smoke and weed, burns and stains on the blanket, poop on the toilet. This was our exact experience. Many people were loitering in the parking lot and lobby. The hallway smelled of pot smoke. There were cigarette burns and stains on the blanket. Hair on the sheets. Dried poop splatters on the toilet. Drunk guy banging around in the hallway. The people next door had a dog which threw up outside our door and it was not cleaned up 12 hours later when we left. Non smoking room smelled of smoke. Poorly insulated rooms were noisy all night long. Awful all around. We checked out two nights early and got an Airbnb. They don't provide shampoo, coffee, a fridge or microwave, so bring your own. Or, preferably, stay elsewhere.

The front desk was not very friendly during the check in process. When I got a room with strong smoke smell when I requested a non smoking room, I had to really try hard to get courage to ask for a different room. As expected she was not very accomendating and only gave me a different room far from the entrance after I keep asking for a different room. Not a very good experience, would not recommend anyone to go there.

The bed was VERY NOISY. You couldn't move without waking up your partner. And the pillows were very flat. Good location, super close to where we were going. Attached restaurant said open and lights were on but doors were locked, it was 930am.

As far as Motel 6 goes this one is pretty good. Room was clean bathroom was clean check in and out was quick. Price was fair. Please put a fridge in more rooms every time I make the reservation there are no rooms available with a fridge. If you fixed this we would come here for our weekend stays.

Stayed on the second floor, the hallway smelled like weed. The room smelled like smoke. There was only hot water at the bathroom sink. Very noisy, could hear everything. A full refund would be very satisfying. My team plays in Branford a lot. Next time we may choose a different hotel, plus I may tell other teams as well.

The front desk was courteous, quick and ready. They kindly allowed us to check-in @45 minutes early. My son misplaced his room key when I had dropped him at the motel and they quickly allowed him access. The manager was super nice making sure my key card would work in back entrance nearer to my room where I preferred to park. The room was no frills but spacious as any other hotel/motel. Everything was very clean. I like the hard flooring instead of carpeting. Motel rooms need to consider bedside lighting that would allow the other guest to sleep while another reads. I do wish this address had a washer/dryer laundry room so I could have washed my son's uniform. But overall very nice stay.

The location and price for the room were good. Upon entering the parking lot, the place looked a little run down. There were children riding bikes and scooters throughout the parking lot. They seemed pretty comfortable there, as if they lived there. When we entered the building to check in, there was a woman who was visibly drunk or on drugs slurring about getting the Wi-Fi password from the front desk staff. The female staff member used some profanity and dismissed the woman, so I assumed she must be a regular there. The staff was pleasant enough to us. One of our room keys didn't work, and the door had to be forced open with the working key. The room looked very similar to the pictures online, but I didn't expect it to feel as much like a prison cell as it did. The room smelled like fresh bleach, which made me feel that the room was clean at least. Everything was as expected for the price we paid. There were many people and children hanging out in the lobby every time we left and came back, which to me, appeared as though they lived at the motel. That made me feel a bit uneasy. I wouldn't stay here again and was happy we were only there for one night.

We recently visited the New Haven, CT area for college commencement activities. We had reserved a room at this hotel well in advance and received confirmation via email immediately after securing the room. Several calls by us were made the week prior to our stay to double check everything as we knew there no rooms available anywhere else due to the number of graduations in the area and wanted to be sure we were all set. Every call was handled professionally and in a helpful manner. Rooms were clean, LOVED the NON-carpeted rooms, and the beds were comfortable. Hotel was very quiet even though it was booked solid. We would recommend this hotel.

When we first walked in there was a refreshing scent of cleanliness very impressed! Courteous friendly and fast service very accommodating and they went above and beyond for me and family we had 3 rooms total will be recommending and returning again!

My wife and I stayed at the Motel 6 in Branford CT from May 21st to May 25th 2016 while visiting for our son’s college graduation. The facilities were sparse but generally acceptable (except for the bath towels which were VERY small (too small) and felt like sandpaper). On the morning of May 24th I got into the shower just before 9am. I got wet, put shampoo in my hair and the water suddenly cut out. My wife went to the front desk where she was told by the Receptionist that the water had been cut off for maintenance on the hot water boiler. She was told there was nothing that could be done, so she insisted that they call the Manager. They did apparently try to contact the Manager (who had been working the night shift we believe) but the Manager had gone to his room and REFUSED to come down to the lobby. When my wife returned to our room and told me this I got out of the shower, wrapped one of the tiny bath towels around me, and with shampoo in my hair I went to the lobby to confront the staff. They advised me that they had put up a notice warning guests that the water would be turned off and pointed at 2 small pieces of paper taped to the top of the front desk. Unless you were checking in (or out) you would not see it …! I asked why the heck the job was being done at 9am instead of maybe 2pm and was told that this is the only time the plumber could do the job.

While the riom was decent for a Motel 6, it still coyld have stepped it up a bit. There were hairs ALL over one of thw bath towels. The floor felt like they hadnt swept in a while. The heat didnt work that well, and took a while to warm up. Besides that, the bed was ok, the bed light was overly bright; I guess they never heard of a 40 watt. Check in was very nice and speedy and everything looks very clean and bright. Id return, you get what you pay for, the bare necessities.

Due to lack of housing and relocation! Thanks to a helpful staff and nice people, was able to enjoy my stay. Not to say everyone is like them but most should take a page from the staff. Thanks for making me and family feel welcome and address any needs right away, and they allow dogs! That's a huge plus cause we know everyone is not pet friendly. Off the highway but not enough to hear the traffic flow nightly. Thanks again crew of motel 6

The staff throws your standing reservations out when they need the rooms. Happened twice and both times blamed the customer. Maids also keep things left in the rooms. And the night shift is not friendly. Never thanks the customers.

It was clean the bed was OK but the pillows were hard. The shower was ok but had very light water pressure. We were only there for a short time but there were some very loud very intoxicated very rude people there. We only stopped to sleep and shower and we barely slept because of how loud it was it kind of had a party atmosphere going on and that was not what we were looking for that night. We might try it again for an overnight. The front desk was very nice and very helpful in trying to address the problems.

I had great stay. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and made every effort to accommodate my requests. They kept my room clean and the mgr did an excellent job giving me low rates. I came happy and left in a great mood.

One of the best places that I have stayed in. Good value great service and clean rooms.

This hotel was perfect for my needs. I needed an inexpensive, quiet, clean place to stay overnight while in New Havel for business. It is a very basic experience — if you want extras or amenities beyond cleanliness, quietness, and morning coffee, you should spend more and go elsewhere. If value and basic accommodation is what you're looking for, this is likely just the place.

Straight off the freeway but set far enough back that you can't hear the traffic through the windows. There are local shops close by which means you can still eat and get conveniences without having to trek about in the car. Usual rooms for a Motel 6, clean spacious and comfortable beds.

Motel 6 was the cleanest motel I have ever been in. The service was good and the beds are comfortable.

Front desk was curteous and helpful, but the room is plain no microwave or refrigerator. I also had people that were staying there knocking on my door. People running around in the hallways.

Surprisingly good stay. I never stayed at a Motel 6. I called to book my stay at a Holiday Inn Express across the street where my meeting was but it was triple the price and they wouldn't budge. Right across the street was the Motel 6. A third of the price with very clean rooms, very clean nice bathrooms, nice hallways, and pleasant staff. A great value and well worth staying across the street. Not luxury but your not buying a house your rending a room for a night or few. It really wasn't 5 stars but because of the value and its comparative value to the Holiday Inn I feel its worth giving it 5 stars. PLUS they are pet friendly, although this isn't something I needed I may need that in the future and its great to know this. I will definitely stay at a Motel 6 again, and certainly this one if I need to be in this area again.

Clean room, bathroom. Interaction with staff was limited but they seemed friendly. All in all nothing special, but it's a place to sleep for pretty cheap.

Clean Room — newly remodeled with imitation hardwood floors. Great if u have allergies. No scanky moldy carpet. Right off I95, so noise might be a problem. Common area by reception is a bit dirty. This is a budget place. No coffee. Pay extra for Wi-Fi. Bring your own shampoo. 10/19/2014 sixty bucks for a single queen.

The hotel was no frills, but it was nice. Very clean and appeared to be recently updated. There was a fee for Wi-Fi, but it was cheap. The vending machine was broken, but we wouldn't have used it anyway. There is no elevator, so if you have a lot of luggage you may want to request a first floor room. The restaurant at the hotel only serves breakfast (not complimentary) but there was a delicious pizza place directly across the street that we walked to.

I read the good reviews here that's one of the reasons I picked it. It was great very, very clean. Very basic, no frills, but that's ok because you don't pay for them. They were the only one I found that offered me a weekly rate which was great.
