The only reason this hotel got one star was because I had to give it. I picked this hotel to get married at this past June. When I saw the Piazza staircase I fell in love — I knew I had to get married there. My husband and I had never been at this hotel before then due to us not living in Henderson so the area was out of the way for us, no big deal. We met with the Social Catering Services Manager in June of 2014 (the 6th to be exact) and by June 24 decided to sign with her and start planning our wedding. We planned to get married on June 27 2015 so that gave us a year to get everything together. Over the next ten (10) months — we endlessly worked with this catering manager — who was also the wedding coordinator — meeting with her, emailing, calling — whatever we could do to stay in contact and communicate all our wants for our special day. Towards the end of April I received a email (email, not phone call) from her stating that she had resigned and that another lady would be taking over our ceremony/event — that was on April 23rd. Finally on May 10th, I emailed this 'new' event coordinator due to her never reaching out, introducing herself, getting ahold of me — nothing! I know people get busy, but this is your job — I am the customer — I should never of had to reach out first — I am the one paying thousands of dollars to get married here. We set up a meeting date and time to finalize the plans of the ceremony and reception. My husband and I had decided to get married in the evening time due to the heat in Vegas and our ceremony was to start at 7pm with our reception to follow immediately after. Because it was so late in the evening we had also decided to have an hors d'oeuvres and cocktail reception. Never was there any mention of a 'sit down dinner'. Because we eventually had to plan a better budget, we decided on 'slider bars' which is basically a self serve appetizer bar made to look like a buffet — on one we had steak and chicken (make yourself) fajitas and on the other we had a pasta bar — all self serve — all appetizers. I specifically made it this way, because I knew I wanted a lot of wedding pictures! (I had the most amazing photographers btw! ) I wanted my friends, family and guests to spend the time we were doing pictures — eating, drinking and mingling with each other. We were taking pictures for probably an hour and a half. When we walked up to were our reception was going on — we were met by our bridal party — then introduced as we all walked in. NO ONE HAD EATEN! NO ONE! all the food was still covered up. I was so upset. It was around 9pm and not one person had eaten yet the food had been sitting out since my guests arrived to the reception area. The coordinator tells me that its proper etiquette to wait for the bride and groom before eating. Now I understand that, but it wasn't a sit down dinner — it was appetizers! Just like in a sit down wedding, you are served appetizers before the main course — my guests should have been eating. Because I didn't want to argue with her in the middle of my wedding day, I choose to call two days after. I still haven't heard back about that issue from her or her boss and it is now July 27th. About 5 minutes later, the wedding coordinator / social event manager left! Earlier that evening when my bridesmaid and groomsman, myself and my husband arrived (we were staying at another station casino and had set up shuttle services to and from GVR so the shuttle bus was CLEARLY MARKED), we were hurried out of our busses and up to our rooms by none other than the Social Catering Services Manager. When my bridal party and I got up to our room we were waiting for our belongings. About 20 minutes later, I finally called down to the bell desk asking for a better ETA. The guy who answered was the absolute rudest person I have ever talked to in my life. He said to me, if I hadn't just left the bus I would have received a ticket for my belongings and since I don't have one, they don't know where our stuff is. No customer service. HATED GVR — huge mistake to waste money there!
