Reviews of Sheraton New Orleans Hotel 4*
Motion detecting thermostat that doesn’t detect motion while you’re asleep, so you wake up in a pool of sweat. Ordered in room coffee with lots of cream and bowl of oatmeal with cream for it as well. Got 4 cups of coffee with 4 packs of sugar and whitener, not even non-dairy creamer, whatever that is. Completely dissatisfied with this stay.
This is the worst hotel I have EVER stayed at and I was stuck staying at a Hilton that had roaches once before. The customer service and lack of friendliness from staff is disgusting! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND!
Staff are very nice, clean rooms and very prompt. Love the atmosphere!
The staff at the Sheraton are so friendly everyone one no matter if it is not there jib to do they would go out of there way to please the guest and they are a give back to the community family oriented business.
Ceiling in bathroom deteriorated in shower. I understood I was going to have a king sized bed; instead two queens. Staff not customer service oriented. Furniture in room scuffed up like someone carved into the wood. No refrigerator. Room too hot; not able to change the temperature.
Great location and views if you up high enough. Love the elevator system.
Just getting ready to check out and staff have been great during my stay — a small issue with my first room had them move me to an upgraded suite — beautiful views and staff that were gracious and professional — highly recommend.
So far my experience has been horrible. Room had dirty sheets with blood on the mattress. Rude front desk worker. Manager wasn’t helpful at all. Jerod was great and helped us get a clean room with cleaning bedding. Had to change rooms 3 times at 2:00am. I’m never coming back. Stay away. There are better hotels in Nola.
Great services and rooms are great!
Very nice hotel, clean, and staff very professional.
The entire experience has been wonderful.
Terrible customer service and management.
I recently stayed there due to business and it was truly a horrible experience! The room was disgusting! Hair in the sink, tub and bathroom floor. I added pictures of the microwave and refrigerator. The phone was dusty and dirty.
I had to go to Wal-Mart to purchase allergy medicine due to having an allergic reaction to the conditions of the room.
The plumbing in the bathroom was horrible. I had to stand in a puddle of water while showering! When taking a shower, I would have to let the water warm up for a solid eight minutes. If not, the temp was ice cold.
I ordered room service my first night…. BIG MISTAKE! I ordered seafood gumbo, a grilled chicken salad, and a Pepsi. The seafood gumbo taste like an over seasoned beef stew. The grilled chicken salad was ice cold and the chicken was not grilled…just chunks of meat. And to top it off, they forgot my Pepsi!
I asked for assistance with a cart to take some bags up; only to told where the carts were located. Then the gentleman just walked off.
When checking out, the clerk asked how was my stay and failed to listen to my list of issues. She didn’t offer I speak with management! I understand she’s just doing her job.
I checked out a day early because I just couldn’t take it anymore!
There was no sense of accountability!
Horrible Horrible Horrible
Until they’re able to hire adequate staff; they close should sections of the establishment.
I will never stay here again! The room was awesome and the service was as well. However, getting my money back for incidental fees back has been a pain. You have to speak to people from overseas rather than someone at the hotel. Just awful! Currently been waiting days for them to find my money that they say they can’t see in their system. I’m so upset at this point and worried that I won’t see my money again!
Very nice hotel, great location. Friendly staff, comfortable beds.
Our room was fine … however, our reservations were botched from the moment we got there. Then on night 2 our neighbors were EXTREMELY loud, which we complained about then THEY called security on us! The neighbor told us well, they’re with a wedding party and we should’ve asked not to be put on the same floor…. Really? The security guy said that they showed that we shouldn’t even be in that room…. Remember I said our reservations were botched from the get go? We had to provide proof of payment so as to not get kicked out! So, at 10:30 pm they move us 2 floors up. At 4 am in new room, neighbors come in, I could hear a woman on the phone — on speaker — and could hear whoever she was talking to. Good grief. We will NOT be returning to this hotel.
Awesome service, very friendly stuff and very close to everything you want to go to. 10/10
Great location, walking distance to everything. My room had a great view of the river, had a phone but no phone cord, it smelled of cigarette smoke, no microwave or refrigerator. 4/5 stars.
Had the absolute worst experience… tub does not drain properly, additional towels are not available, no one answers guest services phone line! I will never support nor stay at this location again. Terrible customer service!
This has been by far the absolute WORST experience that I have ever had with this location. We checked in and the first guest relations person was so unwelcoming. I asked to be near my party and was given a room on the other end. I requested a room change and the next person was extremely helpful. We get to the room and there was no refrigerator although my other party had one in theirs. So I requested a refrigerator and what they brought up looked like it was stolen. There was a pried lock on it and it was overall disgusting. We then get our things settled only to notice the bed ruffle was wrinkle and dirty, the floor look as if they haven’t been swept or vacuumed ever. Then to top it off the toilet had an old urine stain and hair in the towel that went across the bathroom. The vent was dusty I mean do I need to go on. Not to mention It’s COVID and there is obviously no precautions in place at this hotel. Not to mention the room walls are thin as hell and you hear everything! I’m so disappointed and will definitely NOT be back!
Great central location, clean rooms, great Bar area, and Staff.
I will not stay at this hotel again! When you walk into the hotel lobby, it gives you a vibe as if you are walking into a convalescent home and very noisy. There were many people in wheelchairs and walkers all over the lobby. (Please do not get me wrong, I do not have any anything against people in wheelchairs or walkers). Later we found out that they are residents. Also, the people next door to us were loud and they smoked weed so we could smell it throughout the hallway. We also, had some guy try to sell us candies in the lobby. There were lots of homeless people outside around the entrance where you take your car for valet parking. We did not get any housekeeping at all during the 5 nights we were there and never once we saw any housekeepers or anyone sanitizing any thing. But on their monitors in the lobby and in the room, they claimed, to prevent the spread of Covid they use state of the art cleaning products to sanitize their hotel. Also, if you have a car, parking is not free. They charged us $90 for 5 days we were there. Parking is valet only. With the kind of money people paid to stay there, you would think that they would have a better management system. When I am away from home, I want to be able to feel the vibe of a nice, clean, relaxing and welcoming hotel. I did not get that with this hotel. Suggestion to management: you should have a designated area or recreational area for your residents.
Hotel Staff and Security are very professional and thorough. I definitely recommend this place to anyone that comes to New Orleans. The food and adult beverages are on point as well.
Hotel was nice. We had a great view. We were in walking distance to the things we wanted to do. The room was spacious. Customer service was excellent.
They had great service and security while you enjoyed yourself freely.
Awesome Hotel, Staff, Meeting Space & Food!
Good groceries! They sure nuff knows how to cook in this place!
Great stay always great employees so very nice.
Friendly helpful staff. Clean facilities.
Very nice hotel. How ever house keeping needs to be stepped up a knotch. And no hot water in the shower.
Great Place had more amenities than I expected… especially with last minute planning.
Suites were great, service was awsome, everyone helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a 10!
We had a wonderful 6 night stay at the Sheraton. The staff were so kind and helpful. The rooms were spacious yet cosy. We had an absolutely stunning view of the Mississippi River. It was always easy to find your way back to the hotel because it was close to one of the tallest buildings in New Orleans. The buffet breakfasts were absolutely delicious — thank you to the lovey lady chef who made me pancakes every morning :) The nightly canapés included delicious chicken and sausage gumbo, and was always open with snacks and drinks. The Christmas decorations were beautiful, but my favourite was the Blue Dog piano. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you to all the delightful staff at the Sheraton ☺️
The front desk employees are the worse and are very unhelpful, the lobby and everything else is ok, but it is so hard to overlook bad service, they act like they literally hate everyone that is checking into the hotel, it’s a horrible first impression on your hotel.
Beautiful hotel, wonderful rooms and fabulous staff. Extremely clean.
This hotel is awesome. We have had a great time in New Orleans and our stay with the hotel and their staff at the Sheraton made even better!
Fantastic staff. Extremely helpful and friendly and in a great location.
Great hospitality, rooms are beautiful.
Hotel staff are awesome. Very helpful and polite.
Great location and friendly staff! beautiful views of the River!
The staff was extraordinary! Everyone! The wait staff, housekeepers, bellhop. The food was delicious, rooms are nice and clean. Pool could be a tad bigger but I have nothing bad to say about our stay. Overall a wonderful experience!
Very friendly staff very nice view from my we will enjoy 4th July Fireworks.
It's always a pleasant atmosphere. The staff is professional & always friendly.
Highly recommend this lovely hotel.
nice place, great service, and absolutley thee most comfortable beds ever!
The hotel is beautiful, center of everything, staff friendly and nice.
Down side, parking $51 a night did not tell us till we got there. Outrageous! No refrigerator, microwave in room and room was too warm never cooled off.
I’ve stayed at this Sheraton a couple of times and the staff has always been very courteous and good to deal worth. The french quarter is across the street (Canal) which only takes a few minutes from the hotel to walk to. The room is pretty standard, clean, VERY comfortable beds and pillows. The lobby is beautiful as well. All in all it’s a nice place to stay at. My only complaint really is the water pressure in the shower. It’s awful. I tried different shower head settings, tried to adjust the water differently and nothing worked.
When I arrived at the hotel the front desk explained how they didn't have my room but could offer a suite with a pull out bed. I declined on that offer due to this booking was prepaid and I called ahead of time to confirm my room. Magically after five minutes a king size room was available. I was not pleased with the room due to some mold on the ceiling and the floor of the room. This hotel makes enough money from what they charge their guest to fix these types of issues. The location however is great. It's within walking distance to just about everything.
Decor in the lobby was the best part of this stay. The rooms were substandard but I was told it would soon be undergoing an transformation as it will soon become a Marriott. I was here for a conference and the staff seemed to be amateurs. The signature drink they did in our honor was very good and reasonably priced. The breakfast I had the morning I was leaving was delicious and the staff very pleasant which made my stay there a little bit nicer.
My critique of this stay? Customer service department; The stay was fabulous, but the customer service actually sux! I had a miscommunication problem and didn’t understand I was being charged for an upgrade, The result was I couldn’t get Hotwire nor Sheraton hotel to re negotiate
my cost! I am writing this statement to let you know? How unhappy, I am doing business with your companies! I know that I am responsible for signing the upgrade form. However, I told the hotel check, I had a hearing disability. I don’t remember her telling me my upgrade was going to cost me an additional $150.00
For the night? I think if I would have been aware of this fact? I would not have agreed!
This was my first time staying at this Sheraton and I absolutely loved it! I was worried about how far the walk would be to the French Quarter, but it was not far at all. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. They did their best to get my two rooms as close together as possible. The only downside to our stay was when we were told room service was temporarily suspended because the kitchen was backed up. We waited the hour we were told and eventually were able to place our order.
The place is a dive and the people that work there are worse. Horrible service. The hotel is disgusting and we were all disappointed with our event there. I would recommend totally that you never do business with this hotel.
About a 4 minute walk to bourbon street and a good amount of restaurants within walking distance. It would be better if the traditional rooms had two queen beds instead of fulls. Also, since this is a pet friendly hotel there should be a better place to take dogs to use the bathroom. There was construction going on so the original dog area was closed off, the makeshift one was disgusting. People didn't clean up their dogs poop and it wasn't kept up regularly. There was also a thick cobweb in our room.
Beautiful hotel, nice rooms, comfortable beds close to the French Quarter, also great food and drinks in house!
I will see you next year…! I loved the view from my room and it was cleaned everyday during Essence Festival. The staff were extremely warming seeing it’s a busy time of the year. However, I wish there was a microwave in it. Nonetheless, an awesome room.
With over 1100 beds, this Sheraton has hospitality down to a science. Great stay. Comfortable bed. Club floor worth the upgrade. Great views. Ask for upper floors with full view glass windows.
Decent hotel located near the French Quarter. Rooms could use some updating, but the beds are nice. If possible, avoid floor 9 at all cost as the view is directly into a wall. Little light, and no view in this room. Nice hotel bar, and friendly staff. Great fitness center. Note, we were warned about a fire alarm drill scheduled between 8am and 6pm on our last day. Imagine our frustration when the alarm went off shortly after 5am instead, just an hour after getting to bed. The alarm seemed to ring forever, only broken up by doors slamming in the hallway. Unfortunately, this is the taste that remains in my tired, grumpy soul today.
I really expected more for a room that costs $200 a night! Our room was so hot it was unbearable. And looking at some of these other reviews it seems to be a consistent problem. We had to be very firm with the staff just to get someone to look at the a/c. The manager even say they we were informed at check in that that the a/c didn’t work. First of all NO ONE told us that the a/c didn’t work. We also found out that they were sending people to the Marriott across the street because of the a/c issue. But yet we had to put up a fight to get to get the “engineer” to look at it. The engineer told us the a/c was with a motion detector! You can’t have something like that in the south! I am really thinking of calling the health board on them someone could have a heat stroke! The other bad thing is our room shared a wall with the elevator! How puts a room next to an elevator in a party city! The noise people make when they are drunk coming off the elevator is loud so we didn’t get any sleep!
Rooms are beautiful, beds are comfortable, and the staff is especially helpful. The concierge made sure we had a map marked with all the important places we could walk to in the area. Also the most interesting elevators I've been in. You type in the floor number you want and it will automatically tell you which elevator to use. It brings you straight to your floor. I've been here two days and haven't waited more than 10 seconds for an elevator.
Nice hotel with a Starbucks on the first floor. I attended a conference here this past week. They have a variety of meeting rooms. The workout facility is spacious with lots of equipment. The elevator system is very innovative. Although the hotel parking cost is pricey, it still deserves a five rating.
The hotel was very pretty just a couple blocks from the French quarter, the casino and most of the attractions. It's in a good spot to get to pretty much anywhere in a few minutes walk! The staff were very friendly and have better information on restaurant, if you don't want to get stuck in a tourist restaurant and you like the hole in the wall places. For the room it's self I wasn't as excited after a couple days (yes it was a good size) but there was only a tiny closet to hang nice clothes in, 5 drawers to put clothes in, there's no microwave or mini fridge, the thermostat is connected to a sensor in the room so if it doesn't sense you it turn off to sleep mode and the room heats up again and lastly the shower had no temp control, it would sway back and forward between burn hot and cold every 5 seconds! But I enjoyed my stay, I don't hear another in the rooms next to me, just doors closing shut in the hallway.
This hotel is great for anyone who wants to be close to the action of New Orleans. It’s walking distances to bourbon street. The fitness center is one of the nicest I’ve seen. The hotel needs to add a few things to be perfect. 1. It would be great if the rooms had a microwave and a refrigerator in the rooms. 2. Our room and the floor our room was on smelled like wet carpet. 3. The room was hot even after turning the air all the way down. We also had a ruff first day with our room. My roommates bed had a stain on the comforter and our tub was clogged.

Very nice, huge hotel. Great location just outside the Quarter. This particular weekend was Easter and the hotel was full and busy. The staff was professional and efficient, but so many tourists made everything just a bit harder. Overnight parking is too expensive. Our room was not refreshed the first night.
Now this hotel was fun and awesome. Staff was pretty friendly and helpful. We made reservations through an online site for two queen size beds. When we got there we were given the WRONG room, yet when the issue was addressed they QUICKLY fixed it. And also gave us something extra for our trouble. I love the pool. Very clean.
At this point I'm at day 4 of a 9 day stay. The room is on the 43rd floor with a view that is a bit overwhelming for a person with issues of height. I really can't look down without feeling a bit queasy. Now the stay has been delightful… Starbucks in the lobby. Front desk personnel are so helpful as are the folks at the concierge service. This is my second visit to NOLA and my second stay st the Sheraton, this is a much better stay. Like this year last year it was an extended time, but no housekeeping due to signing up for Green Choice… so yes I did sign up again for Green Choice but did mentioned that on day 4 I would need new towels… day 4 arrived housekeeping came with new towels, replenishing water bottles… so I'm a happy camper.
I called everyday of my last stay to complain about the poor drainage of the shower in my room. At the conclusion of each conversation the guest services rep told me someone from maintenance would be sent up to look at it. I’m not sure if that ever actually happened and every time I showered, the water pooled above my ankles within a few minutes. It took nearly 10 minutes for it to drain after my shower was done even though there was no bath drain plug. On my second to last day, I waited for engineering to be sent up. A member of engineering walked into the shower, turned the faucet on and then off quickly and told me it was working fine. I explained what happens at every shower and that he needs to leave the water on a tad longer to see it. Engineering repeated that he felt that it was fine and that there wasn’t anything he could do. I called again two more times during my stay. I even took pictures to show them what was happening. The problem was never fixed. Otherwise staff was very friendly and the small room was kept clean and fully stocked. The musty smell in the rooms is had to avoid with the city’s climate.
Enjoyed our stay here, view from the room was amazing. Good sized room, clean, comfortable and great service. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner, food and service was excellent, the Creole cheesecake was one best puddings I have ever had. My only complaint is the noise, we were above industrial fans, those and the street noise did interrupt our sleep. The sound proofing is non existent.
Located on Canal Street, one of the busiest streets in New Orleans. The hotel is very clean and tidy, has large halls where you can perform events of all kinds such as parties and conferences. The staff were very friendly and helpful and attentive. And spacious and super comfortable rooms.
Very nice hotel. Nice front desk staff, good amenities, regular checkout at noon. Only interesting thing was the staff using my charger when I came back during room cleaning, but that's not a huge deal. Phenomenal location to walk to all of the french quarter sites.
The hotel is in a great central location. You are within walking distance to about everything. I give it 4 stars because it is a little dated and in need of remodeling. They are pet friendly, at least dogs. Find a potty spot can be a problem. I would stay again.
The girls were adorable and helpful! We had such a blast! Upgraded the room with breakfast and dinner even though didn’t use the dinner. An upgrade to the 49th floor was an amazing view! Love the location near everything. Was def a great trip and hotel choice. The beds were huge and comfy. Nice after so much sight seeing!
Great location. But don't do "green" linens fit 300 points. Housekeeping won't service room at all! Very fine print at bottom of card stats this, which I missed. At my request, they did come in later that night and took care of room. Shame on Sheraton.
Hotel two blocks from the French Quarter. Highly recommended for sightseeing in new Orleans. Spacious rooms and very comfortable beds. Excellent cleaning. Tram stops next to the hotel.
Wonderful lodgings. It was a totally perfect weekend. Staff worked to ensure none better can be expected when seeking relaxation after roaming about the city all day or an extended night of enjoyed pleasures of New Orleans. We had a wonderful experience heightened by the Sheraton's comforts and luxury. Highly recommended to all.
This hotel is perfectly located near the heart of the French Quarter. It's within walking distance a majority of the tourist attractions and quick access to the streetcar and riverport. During my week stay the lobby restaurant and shops were generally very crowded. I would highly recommend a Riverside Room so you're able to enjoy the fabulous view!
The space was nice, and the food was good. There were chargrilled oysters and a rice dish with large sea scallops cooked perfectly. There were also great desserts. It would have been nice to have more places to sit. There were very few tables with chairs and more standing height tables. The valet parking was also pricey.
It's a great hotel. You can safely take!
Very good quality and service.
The Sheraton is a great hotel and has relatively cheap rates. The best part about the hotel is it's amazing view above the whole city. If you are given the option to be on a higher floor take it, unless you are scared of heights because the window is floor to ceiling and will make you queasy if you have a fear of heights. My only 2 complaints are the beds, that make my back hurt when I don't even have back problems. And the other thing is in my 6 day stay I found 2 small cockroaches. If you get a good deal, you should stay here I mean why not. But if you are willing to spend a little extra to go to the Marriott you probably should.
All around a great stay. Check in was smooth, easy and painless. Sabrina made sure I received all the information I needed about the hotel and it's amenities. She also gave me some wonderful suggestions on how to start my time in the city. A very nice and friendly way to start my stay. The room was clean, well appointed and comfortable. I was offered a city or river view and chose river. SPECTACULAR view from the 44th floor of the river and the bend that the nickname Crescent City derives from. Room service was fast and tasty and the daily cleaning good. Everything was as good or better then expected. My only place to stay from now on in NOLA!
For those booking in the future. I tried getting a hold of them, due to the fact some doctors appointments came up for me to out-process the military. I got a non-refundable ticket and tried to see if there was even a way to get some of my money back. It was a no-go. They refused to give me any of my money back. They aren't willing to work with others if something comes up and they can't make it. Beware and make sure you don't get a non-refundable ticket or anything like that, because if something happens (canceled flight, sick kid, or can't make it due to other circumstances) you will get nothing back. Apparently this is a common thing with them. After reading other reviews, that will NOT give any money back for ANY reason.
Wedding Reception — I think the Sheraton put their best efforts forward to provide my husband and I with a wonderful wedding reception. The staff is wonderfully friendly and courteous. Our event coordinator, Jessica, was fantastic! I have nothing but great things to say about her. I booked the Waterbury ballroom a year in advance and I’m sure I bombarded Jessica with emails at times but she never seemed annoyed and always went above and beyond to answer my questions, give me vendor referrals, etc. We also worked with Peter Woods, the director of events, in times that Jessica was absent. We went for a tasting about four months before our event and Peter led my husband and I to the chef’s office in the actual kitchen. The chef, sous chef, Peter, my husband and I all toasted with champagne in congratulating our up-coming nuptials. We tried all of my selections from their long menu of New Orleans cuisine. My guests LOVED the food. Every wedding I’ve ever attended I’ve always said “Eh, the food was ok. ” But no one said that about my wedding. It was phenomenal and the chef and his staff did a five-star job. Upon entering the reception the coordinator was with me and on top of everything the entire time. She lined up the DJ set-up, the cake delivery, EVERYTHING. I was told, during my reception, when it was time to cut the cake, for example, or time to do the champagne toast. It was so relaxing and fun knowing I didn’t have to worry about a thing.
I went there because I wanted to attend the football game of Troy vs North Texas University.
Had a great view of the city. The room was clean and the staff was nice when we checked in. The lobby was decorated for Christmas and looked great. Short distance to french quarter and bourbon. Would definitely stay here again.
Looks nice from the outside. Stepping into lobby comes along with an overpowering scent of perfume — much like certain stores at the mall. The room itself was fine, but small details show through. Things like the toilet missing the covers for the seat hardware and the backing peeling away from the mirrors really kill the illusion. A few positives about the accommodations, the full length windows in the room were a nice feature and provided a great view of the city. The elevators were very fast.
Good place for conferences and dinners.
Very busy. Rooms are nice. Nice city views. The water pressure was not great on the 21st floor. Overall, very nice hotel. Will use again.
A true luxury hotel. You feel it the minute you walk in the door. Rooms are spacious and clean and service is top notch. The view from our room was breathtaking! Public transportation is steps outside the door. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Cons: — Parking is tricky & valet is expensive, but that’s true in all downtown hotels in America. — Wi-Fi is not free.
Staff was friendly, place was clean, convenient location. Front desk staff needs more training. The incompetence of the front desk left my friend being charged 3 separate times for our room. Each time they were questioned, they couldn’t give a thorough answer on why it occurred and just promised a “refund within 3-5 business days”. They also couldn’t explain several other random charges that appeared on the room. Each attendant we approached seemed to have a very hard time understanding what they were seeing on the computer. Due to the fact our 4 day trip was spent constantly checking to see what new charges we had/having to go BACK to the front desk to ask what’s going-I’ll never spend another day here at this hotel.
We were in the living room on the 3rd floor. In a concert given by the singer El Torito, representing Bachata.
Rooms were nice and I liked the security they had to go up to the rooms. Service was great. I only did not like that they closed all the entrances at night except for one so I ended up getting caught in the rain.
Overall nice. However I feel the rooms are a little dated, especially when compared to the J. W. Marriott. Biggest complaint is the odd motion activated air conditioning thermostat. The AC turns itself off when no motion is detected, regardless of temperature setting. This is not so cool when you've been gone for the day walking around in the New Orleans heat, not to mention when you wake up in the middle of night sweating to death because it doesn't detect your presence. And BTW, "pun intended".
Nice hotel with great soft beds. Very nice on the inside. I think I got a great deal through hot wire. Definitely a plce to check out and walking distance to a lot of things in new Orleans.
It is a hotel that has aged badly.
The lobby is big and the access to the Starbucks inside is public.
Got something going on with air quality in rooms. Everyone in our room could not stop sneezing when inside the room. Yet we were all fine in the lobby/outside area. Also, hot water took a long time to come by. Other than that — everything was fine. Really comfortable beds!
Great room! Beautiful view! Perfect location to experience the best of the French Quarter. Friendly staff, excellent price. Had some issues with paint fumes while using the gym, and sometimes the hallways were left unattended for trash and debris on floor. But overall, fantastic experience! 4.5/5 stars!
This place is absolutely awesome! The staff is so nice. Everyone greets with a smile. My room was super. The beds are extra comfortable and I was happy to have a big bathroom. Those were the best 3 nights ever in a hotel.
A well appointed hotel on canal street. Rooms are a good size and modern without being faddy. Good bed and a nice armchair. Front reception is noisy at night.
Location puts you near most streetcars which can take you to the most common travel spots and walking distance to many great restaurants. Stayed on the 23rd floor. It was spacious and tidy. Blinds were wooden slats and didn't block out much light at night but you'll be tired from walking to notice. Only annoyance was the low pressure toilet but it's likely due to the area with its old water systems. Also no mini fridge in our room. Turn down service was good, tubs were standard. Would have liked a garden tub but I'm sure they have them on the higher end rooms. Bed was comfortable and sheets were also your good quality goose down and high thread count. Two Starbucks coffee pods and a bottled water were included. They had a 3 dollar large water which was not needed as you can go get some gallons of water at the local pharmacy which is recommended if you're walking as much you need to for getting around town. I definitely plan to return to the NOLA and unless there is a much cheaper brand name hotel, I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone visiting.
We are staying in room 2716 and everything is very nice. The TV was not working when we checked in but one call to the friendly and helpful front desk solved that very quickly. Everything is reasonably new and well maintained. They even have enough plugs for a 21st century family to charge all of our electronics, which is a welcome surprise. Overall we are very happy with our stay so far.
Comfortable beds, basic bathroom, a little noisy.
If you're trying to find a really great deal on this amazing hotel I'd highly suggest booking it through HotelRaven. Com They have great deals for it on there! Such a perfect place don't have enough great things to say! Attentive and quick check in even in huge conference rush. Meticulously clean rooms with extraordinarily comfy beds. The conference rooms are spacious, though the layout can be confusing. The elevator system is newfangled and takes some getting used to. Ideal location; literally on the border of the French Quarter and visible throughout in case you get lost. Just spot the hotel in the skyline and head that way! Truly enjoying my stay here so far.
The Sheraton on Canal street was a good place to stay in a great location. It's located a few blocks from the French quarter and right down the street — roughtly half a mile — from the magestic St. Louis Cathedral. The atrium is quite impressive with a central bar and a Starbucks off to the side. They also set up a huge screen in the atrium where the NFL playoffs were on display. Extra star! The rooms were nice, but seemed to be refurbished from an older hotel. The rooms were pretty spacious with nice plasma screen TVs, an extra chair for lounging and at least one window overlooking the city. The elevators are "high efficiency" which means you punch in the floor you need to go to and one of the elevators shows up rather than a bunch of them being on random floors. Folks at the front were nice and the bell service was helpful. Got a cab early in the morning and they were able to store our luggage for free when we got in early. In the end, you're near the French quarter and the nicer attractions it has to offer. Bourbon street is about 4 blocks away so it's well within walking distance for other who wish pay a visit — word to the wise, bring old shoes. Plus, there's a Popeye's chicken as well as Palace Cafe across the street for any cravings, chicken or turtle soup. A good, not incredible, experience, but overall pretty on par with many Sheratons.
What a great experience! Very helpful staff, beautiful facilities. I stayed here for four days for a conference, and everything was borderline perfect. When we didn't get the rooms we reserved because of an influx on the area, they were quick to make it up to us in every way. Gorgeous lobby, comfortable beds, great bathrooms. Some downsides: the elevators have a newer, more innovated system, but with large crowds, they are not as smart, and can bog down. But they are super fast, and if you are not there during a very busy time, you will be pleasantly surprised with the experience. Another downside to the elevators is an architectural issue in that at the 29th floor, you must cross over to another set of elevators to go any higher, if you were using that set in the first place. To be clear, you can take a single elevator from the lobby to the roof, but another elevator would have to switch over, and if your room is on 9-28, you must switch over to visit another room. This usually doesn't happen, and doesn't present an issue, unless you have club access, like we did. Peaking of which… GET CLUB ACCESS. Oh my word what a wonderful service. 24-7 keyword access to a lounge with a mini fridge with snacks and drinks, an espresso machine with capuchino, latte, and Americano options, tea, fruits, and hor deurves. (or however you spell it). Breakfast & dinner are catered, and the food is sooo good.
Very tight for the amount of people.
Below is an email correspondence and it explains my review. I want to note that I did speak with someone over the phone after my honeymoon and she said she see what she could do and talk to management but it's been 2 weeks and I have yet to hear back. I used the Sheraton to host my wedding guests. So my stay went like this. I was running around NOLA Thursday and part of Friday. On Friday, I heard a couple of complaints from my family that traveled from NJ about their check in experience Thursday. Just stuff you'd rather not hear about when your preparing for everything. So I go to check in on Friday at 2pm. I was informed my room is not ready… which is ok because check in is 3 which would have given me ample time to get ready for the rehearsal at 5. I informed the rep at the desk about this. I was the bride. I have a rehearsal at 5 and need to leave hotel by 430. So I hang out in the lobby bar and go to check at 3:15 my room is still not ready. I also tell the rep my situation again. I go back and sit and wait. Some of my friends from NJ saw me in lobby and asked about my situation. When I told them I didn't have a room yet they were shocked and one of my friends went to the front desk and came back 15 mins later with a temporary room for me to get ready. I asked if I would be able to get ready in this room… leave my stuff and get it when I get back from the rehearsal and move to my suite. I was told that I could do that.
The only thing I see positive was the furniture in the room. I was so pleased when we opened the door. Everything went downhill from there. My wife informed me the parking was $44 per day (we just returned from driving around the city and about three blocks over was all day/overnight parking for $20). There is no complimentary breakfast, no free Wi-Fi and even paying $14.95 per day you can only connect three devices. There are 10 elevators and they are very slow. I requested additional coffe and sugar this morning, and it is nnow 2:30 in the afternoon. It never came. What came was the normal replinishment daily. I have been at several Holiday Inns this summer and they have been outstanding. In addition to breakfast, free Wi-Fi, free parking, there was also a mini fridge and microwave. None of that existed at this hotel. I understand we are in the heart of the city, but people choose hotels based on lacoations, but they also ex (pect to get some bang for the buck and your hotel dod not meet this standard.
This is my 3rd year staying at the New Orleans Sheraton and two of my main reason for returning is due to the exceptional service of Ms. Timika Spurlock and Cassandra Franklin. It all started three years ago and just by happenstance my father and I literally bumped into Timika, at that point she impressed us with her attention to detail regarding our stay and since then I have self-proclaimed myself their “favorite guest” and they are my “Sheraton Angles”. This year they out did themselves by adding a twist to acknowledge my birthday, so we had a few treats waiting upon our arrival. Also, this year I got to meet what I now consider the 3rd angel Ms. Carrie Sax. I unfortunately misplaced/lost my phone while waiting in the lobby and Carrie went above and beyond to help me look, she was turning over chairs and triple checking areas that I believe I lost it, we eventually found it and I would like to thank her again for her help. So, as I say every year you guys did it again, so you got me as a “customer for life”. Thanks for everything. See ya next year…or maybe again this year!
It was terrible! Was offended as soon as we went to check in, called manager, all she said was "sorry". Charge for everything you touch. Had to call several times for coffee and cups, took over an hour. No free parking at the hotel. Got fussed at for opening our hood to check fluids! Can not use a rolling carrier, had to get bellboy to do it and of course had to tip everyone there to use any of there services!
Stayed her during a business trip. I was in the hotel for a week. This place is VERY noisy. My first experience was right after I pulled up. I found one of the luggage carts in the covered area where I initially pulled up. I used it to put my luggage and hanging clothes on. When I got inside, I was quickly approached by a bellman telling me that he had to take the cart with my clothes to my room "due to liability reasons. " He didn't ask, just abruptly informed me. Not a great first impression. I was on the 28th floor an apparently close to the elevators. You could hear them going up and down all day and night. Every time someone somewhere took a shower, you could hear the water. Every door to each rooms slams shut. You could even hear the ice maker down the hall. I had my AC on 65 but I can assure you it was not 65 in the room. The air is stagnant and does not circulate. The hotel is nice, but all the noise makes it very hard to rest.
Everything was great! unfortunately I had a very expensive bathing suit that came up "missing" that was hanging on the shower. But, there is dishonest people everywhere you go.
I loved the staff first of all! James was awesome and made you feel welcomed to the hotel. The staff was exceptional! The first night my air conditioning was not working properly, I reported the problem and was immediately moved to another room. A few days later, I walked into my room and there was a gift basket for my previous room experience. I will definitely never forget this Sheraton! Loved it.
I love that this hotel is close to the French Quarter. The lobby looks amazing, service is great, and there is an attendant checking for key cards outside the elevator at night to keep drunken wanderers from nearby Bourbon Street from vomiting in the hallway outside your room. But there are a few things that took this rating from a 5 to a 3 on my stay here and made me glad I booked through Hotwire instead of paying full price. The walls are pretty thin, so I could hear muffled talking and coughing in the adjacent rooms, doors opening and slamming, and pretty much anything going on in the hallway. Under the beds was a layer of dust, dirt, clothes tags, and I even found a mystery pill (did not eat it, though). The water temperature in the shower fluctuated somewhat, making showering an annoying experience (or an adventurous one, if you're that type).
I stay here for work and this is one of the nicer hotels I stay in. All of the staff is very friendly, even the cleaning staff. You are within walking distance to a lot of great locations. Now My review is based on my experience but because I am not personally paying for this hotel it's hard for me to gauge my rating based on value. But overall my room was great. I got a fridge and the price was actually cheaper for a fridge than most hotels. Great hotel.
Where to start. 1st. Room had dirty sheets, pillows and pillow cases. Request to change the three times over the phone but it took me to talk down and request a manger. 2nd. Bathroom sink was broken 3rd. Ice maker machine on our floor broken. 4th. The entrance door to the hotel Broken. 5th. You couldn't enter through the hotel front door after 10 pm. I can keep going with other bad things but I hope you guys get the idea. Good bye Sheraton. I will be staying at Marriott next time. Why pay top dollar when your place is breaking down.
Beautiful room, really fast elevator to the 49th floor. Spectacular view with window from floor to ceiling. Would love to have a fridge. Easy walk to Bourbon St and Canal St.
Wonderful Hotel located in the Heart of the city. Minutes away from the Convention Center, Superdome and Bourbon Street. Staff incredibly courteous and hospitable.
Check in experience was friendly and not rushed. Flashed my (free) IGH card and got upgraded about 10 floors higher than the original room. Decent view, updated standard room. The most important part is that (apparently) when I checked out, my iPad dropped to the floor. When I realized 2 hours and 100 miles later, I called, they had found it and put it in the safe. They took a bunch of info from me and when I returned to New Orleans a few days later, I showed my ID and my iPad was returned! Thank you for your honesty.
Amateur. In one word, that is how I describe the Sheraton on Canal Street. Maybe I am spoiled by other 3-star hotel chains I get to stay in through work, but this hotel definitely does not belong in that category. Firstly, the previous occupant's trash, towels, and toiletries were left in the room. Additionally, their hand/face grease was all over the floor-to-ceiling window in the room. Not to mention water was coming in from the room next to mine and soaking the floor (I understand this isn't something the hotel could have anticipated). After lodging these complaints at the front desk, I was told maintenance and housekeeping would be right up. I went out to dinner for a few hours, came back, and nothing had changed, except a large pile of coat hangers was now left in front of my door. These remained for a day and a half. The next morning, my coworker and I ate the $22 buffet breakfast since we didn't have time to order off the menu or go elsewhere. I should have known better. You would expect a certain level of quality for a $22 breakfast in a city world-renowned for its food. What I received might have passed in a high-school cafeteria. All in all, very disappointing, and a bad first impression for the Sheraton name. The previous occupant's leavings never were cleaned up.
The room wasn't dirty or bad, but the overall experience was one of the worst. The customer service, specifically around the parking was terrible. I was dropped off by a friend who was not trying to park his car, but pulled in off the street. The valets hassled him that he needed to pay their $12 in and out rate, and could not simply drop someone off and wait for me to check in (I wasn't trying to go to the room, I had to just check in and go back to the car). After that ordeal I was greeted by their front desk associates. After I indicated that I had no car for my stay, and said I have a roommate who will have a car and please make sure to put his card on file for the incidentals/valet reservation, and was assured that this would be the case I left. I will not even go into detail about there terribly ineffective elevator system and dirty front lobby area. Fast forward to check out, I notice that they did not put the car parking fee on my roommates card, they had it on his portfolio under his name, but charged to my card. I spoke with the front desk at check out, and was assured it would be corrected. I checked on Monday and no such thing had occurred, so I called for clarification. I was transferred to a voicemail, where I left a message with my details and requested a call back. After 3 days I called again, was transferred to their accounting department again, left another message asking for a call back.

The Sheraton New Orleans is a very nice and clean place to stay. It was very nice having my granddaughters dance competition there right at the motel. The staff during the way very polite and helpful. The only incidents we had was having to wait over and hour for the bell hop to come up to get our luggage then when we went to get our luggage they had been holding for us they lost our two suitcases. Then had the bell hop that had taken our bags to someone else try to blame me for his mistake. Even said I have given him the ticket and didn’t take my bags when he brought them to me when clearly the bell hop that had my ticket in his hand and the rest of my luggage was standing right in front of him. Then there was the valet! They tell you to scan the ticket when you want them to bring your car to you. What they don’t tell you is they disconnect the text system when they are feeling overwhelmed. So after waiting almost an hour we had to go stand in another line in a hot garage for nearly 45 minutes to give our tickets to the valet and be given another ticket to wait for our car. Then finally after another half hour we were finally on our way home. Like I said the hotel was very nice but they definitely need a new system for the bell hops and valet!
