This was the worst hostel experience I have ever had. We had to leave leave the hostel at 3.45am to drive back home to Pittsburgh because our room was so hot. We could not open the window, the ceiling fan did not help one bit and there was no extra fan anywhere. Additionally, there was no staff person around at 9.30pm when I initially sought out help for this issue. The front desk is supposed to be manned until 10pm! I also searched around the entire second and third floors but no one was to be found. Neither my husband nor myself could sleep at all before we gave up. We laid there tossing and turning while our room kept burning up. The third floor thermostat in the hallway said the temperature was 73 and that the AC would not kick on until 76. Our room easily felt like it was 80 degrees. How is this an acceptable business practice? Not only did we have to end our vacation early because of the horrific experience, we also did not get any sleep and then had to drive home the 2 hours at the most inopportune time. We also had issues with the front desk trying to check our bags in before our 3pm check in. We tried calling on the phone at the front and of course no one answered. I called the day before and asked about dropping our bags off and was told this would be fine. I had to search around the hostel to finally find two staff members who were literally doing nothing upstairs. I was then lectured by them about check in not happening until 3pm.

Clean, comfortable, big kitchen well resourced for cooking and storing food! Great fresh food market 5 min walk! Many breweries and restaurants! Did I mention ice cream! Oh wow! Many ticks for me!

This is definitely to place to go to spend time in Cleveland and to get to know fellow travelers and folks in the area great hospitality.

We came out from Buffalo and this was a very nice place to stay! We stayed in the loft. I loved the roof patio as well.

Clean, reasonably priced rooms and great coffee shop in the front lobby. Conveniently located and within walking distance of great restaurants, shopping, breweries and beach! Would definitely consider staying again next time I'm in town.

Check-in was smooth and easy. When I went up to my room, it was obvious that they hadn't changed the sheets from the guest before me, but when I asked, they very quickly changed the linens in my room. But, when they were done changing my linens, they left my door propped open, even though I had left some of my things in the room. The bed was not uncomfortable, but it wasn't very comfortable either. The individual bathrooms on the third floor were fine, although one had spiderwebs over the shower stall. Quick note about parking: I parked overnight in the parking lot shared by the hostel and the shopping plaza across the street. When I checked out, I discovered that my car window had been smashed in and some of my belongings had been taken. As I was calling my insurance company, a woman who works in the plaza came up to me and offered me sympathy for my plight. However, she also noted that she sees this all the time, and that some people target the hostel guests with out of state plates. It is apparently a regular enough occurrence to not prompt any surprise from her. I would not recommend parking in the lot provided if you have anything of value in your car. (Normally, I don't leave anything of value visible in my car, but as I was making a cross-country move, my car was stuffed to the gills and I could not have unpacked it into my hostel room.

Love this place. It's attached to a great coffee shop, Passengers. They have bagels, lattes, and feature coffee's from around the nation. We got coffee and sat up on the beautiful rooftop patio. You cannot beat the view of Cleveland from up there. The staff is friendly and it's just a great place… And super affordable!

Have stayed here twice and will likely again. There are many things that could use updating or replaced but in general all the rooms and common areas are clean. Great location, love the neighborhood.

Clean, well-maintained, affordable, comfortable, some good amenities, with a friendly staff, and in a nice little neighborhood. Convenient to Jacobs Field and the West Side Market. The coffee shop on the first floor is just an added bonus. I highly recommend this place!

This is everything you could want in a hostel. Feels like home immediately. Throughout it's well-lit, with homey but unpretentious decor, familial and fascinating staff. It's clean, safe, well-managed, cozey, and cheery. The cafe is great and they have some vegan and gf muffins and cookies available. Book this place now, you won't regret it!

Great service and nice rooms. The location is great with easy access to the Rapid and downtown, and in the heart of a great bar/restaurant scene. The roof is open and has a great view of the city.

This place was by far the absolute best place to stay during my visit in downtown Cleveland. The owner is chill, the coffee downstairs is delicious, the rooms are clean, the prices are really reasonable, the rooftop view of tower city is AMAZING, the common room is comfortable, the Wi-Fi is included and fast, the people that stayed were interesting, the bathrooms were kept immaculately clean, and more. There wasn't a single thing I could think of that disappointed me about this place other than the fact that I didn't get to stay longer. If you're in the area and you're a traveller, I wholeheartedly recommend staying here. You won't be disappointed.

This is a beatific hostel! I highly recommend. The rooftop deck and the downstairs coffee shop is an added bonus. The room was beautiful and clean, as were the bathrooms. I never had to wait to use a bathroom and they are private. They are well located in a cute area with many local shops, eateries, and a bike share right next door. The staff was the very best part. They made us feel right at home the moment we walked in and were full of ideas and suggestions for things to do in the area, even searching for coupons for us.

One of my favorite hostels and I've stayed in 70 + around the world. Coffee shop on the bottom, walking distance bars and restaurants, free parking across the street and rooftop hang out space! A++++++! Great price too!

Great place to stay. The beds were super comfortable, kitchen well equipped, and really great roof terrace. Bit pricier than your average hostel but also the only one in Cleveland. The cafe is also a nice place to hang out as the common area gets a bit dark. Perfect location in Ohio city and close to public transportation to downtown and the airport.

The Cleveland Hostel is one of the nicest hostels I've had the pleasure of staying at throughout years of international travel. It's right in the middle of Ohio City's restaurants and bars and a quick drive or train ride or even lovely walk across the bridge to downtown. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and accessible, and the common room has a huge, well stocked kitchen and great living room/dining room space to cook and hang out in. I would highly suggest this as a wallet-friendly option when visiting Cleveland.

Great location just up the street from the Westside Market on W25th St near Lorain. Shared rooms with bunk beds $35 a night. Private rooms $70. A nice coffee shop in the lobby. Close to RTA bus stop and rapid transit. Many bars and restaurants in this area and a small park.

Wonderful stay! Booked a private queen with a shared bathroom. The staff is friendly, bathrooms were always kept decently clean, and the kitchen area is enormous and well-stocked with cooking utensils. The common areas are cozy, and an added bonus is that the whole place smells like yummy coffee due to the cafe on the first floor. The only thing I would warn people of is that there is no control of the temperature in the room. If you are sensitive to temperature, this may make your sleep a bit uncomfortable. I also wish there were peepholes in the door, but that did not effect our stay. Overall, would highly recommend!

I stayed for several days in an all female dorm and really enjoyed my time. You can’t find a better location — you’re right next to so many great spots in Ohio City and right next to the RTA Transit! I really enjoyed the cafe on street level and the rooftop views (even though I was here in the winter! ).

This is a great hostel, very clean rooms, well kept & unique property with an awesome staff in a cool neighborhood. Highly recommend.

This place is great for the budget traveler rooms are clean and comfortable and the bathrooms are immaculate! The only complaint I have is that the 3rd shift guy on tonight Thursday is kind of a jerk one of the fellow travelers in the room next to me locked his keys in his room so I called the phone for after hours and he was rude about making the nice gentleman a spare key which was unnecessary as accidents happen. Other than that what a wonderful cheap place to stay.

We had an incredible stay — the bed was very comfortable, the room was very clean (smelled clean upon entering), the Wi-Fi was good and the hot water ample. The historic accents were a nice touch. We greatly appreciated the convenient free parking, nearby market, the common areas, kitchen and the rooftop patio. We will definitely be staying here again if we swing by Cleveland in the future.

Great, cheap place to stay. Great location with a rooftop lounge to hang out. Very friendly service.

On our second day there, we left the hostel around 10 am to return at 12:30 AM during the night. Our beds had been stripped, one bed was now occupied and another had dirty sheets from a traveler that had checked out that morning. We had to change the dirty sheets ourselves, at past 1 am, to be able to sleep in the room we had already paid for. On top of that, bathrooms were quite dirty upon check in and staff wasn't available on 2 out of 3 times we required their attention. I've stayed in several hostels and this was by far my worst experience. Disappointed because the location is great.

Excellent hostel in a great part of town. Clean, comfy beds with clean restrooms and a rooftop deck open until 11 PM all for an affordable rate. I plan on staying here again.

I had coffee with a friend at Passengers Cafe located below The Cleveland Hostel. The Cold Brew Coffee was great. In my 30 minute stay I saw many happy guest arrive and depart from The Cleveland Hostel through the cafe. Located in West 25th Street this is close to many trendy restaurants, the famous West Side Market, and close to Downtown Cleveland.

I've stayed here many times. Love the rooftop views, proximity to good foods and the large common space. Some of the rooms tend to be close to poorly sound-proofed ducting which can get very loud, especially in a few of the private rooms that I've used. Though, it's not enough to detract from all of the great elements they have to offer.

I've been able to stay in hostels around the world and yet the Cleveland Hostel is my most favorite. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. The cafe is great to grab a quick bite or coffee, the second floor communal space has lots of games, but by favorite part is the rooftop access with an awesome view of the city. The surrounding area is great, too. It's walking distance to lots of great restaurants and a short hike to the heart of the city. It's a total home away from home!

We had a private room. I was impressed with the cleanliness. Had some issues overnight with neighboring intoxicated guests and their volume in the hall from 2:30 to 3:30 am. Hostel was also situated in a very cute part of town. Plenty to do within walking distance.

This location was perfect for our Girl Scout troop overnight. The following day, we did a scavenger hunt at the West Side Market, added to the chalk wall next door, visited the Glass Bubble Project and took a tour of the Mitchell's Ice Cream factory. Everything was within walking distance! If you have many vehicles for your group, I would highly recommend car pooling at the least, or parking at a nearby rapid station and riding the rapid in. The rapid stop is right across the street! The Hostel has such friendly staff who check on you, to make sure you're happy. The kitchen was stocked with cookware, plates/cups/utensils, even some spices, and a great system for keeping food you bring organized, so everyone knows whose is whose. Just like Girl Scout Camp, only in the CITY!

The Cleveland hostel is situated conveniently to shops and restaurants, as well as publicel transit. They have a small coffee shop on the first floor now, but nothing else has changed since my last visit. The owner is very accommodating and the rooms are affordable and clean. There is a large common kitchen area, along with a rooftop deck with a nice view of the skyline.

Thought this place was really great, $80 for two Queen beds, room doesn't have TV but Wi-Fi worked well for a good portion of the night. Wifi did get a little shaky after Midnight. The whole place was very clean including the bathrooms. Great Stay, will stay here again.

Stayed in the Victor apartment and it was ok, would've been better if the room was clean when we got in there. Dirty dishes in the sink, trash full, hair in the shower and bathroom floors, etc. Room was freezing all night. Wished there was a TV in the room also. Price for the room was great (that's why I chose it). I'm not really a people person so hostels don't work well for me on that note. The coffee from the cafe was some of the best I've ever had. I'd stay here again only for the coffee.

Great location. Everything you need only a few blocks away. Feels like a safe area with many fun people around and with easy access to transportation to other parts of the city.

For only $30. Per night I shared a room with 3 other ladies. It worked out fine & I got a good nights sleep there. They have a big, common kitchen & dining room and a patio on top of the building with great views of the city. Free parking across the street, a coffee shop on the main floor and the neighborhood with shops, restaurants, etc,

Stay here. The prices are budget but the rooms are not. I've stayed in private rooms in hostels in Europe. This place was far better. The rooms and common areas are exceptionally clean. The checkin staff are welcoming. The beds are comfortable. The location is much better than being downtown (free parking across the street) — and downtown is a subway ride or 5 minute drive away.

My wife and I are from Cincinnati and we visit Cleveland several times a year. Love the city! The nightlife, culture, restaurant, museums. The list goes on and on. We usually stay in the suburbs and take the RTA to the downtown area. We thought we would stay right in the heart of Ohio City. We loved the Cleveland Hostel! Very clean, comfortable, and quiet. Loved all the extras like the kitchen. The location was perfect. Right next to the red line and plenty of bars, restaurants, and other fun places like the market. The coffee house you have is great and the patio on top of the building has an amazing view of downtown. We look forward to staying at you place again! Thank you for a great place to stay!

Convenient free parking across the street, clean, cheap, kind staff, and close to the best breweries in Cleveland. What more could you ask for? 6/5 Stars if I could.

We were greeted with extreme welcome and kindness after a night at the worst airbnb Ohio City had to offer. Our private room was upgraded to the Victor Apartment, a beautiful space with skylights and view of the city. It was clean, calm, and has a very cool shower. We stayed 3 nights while looking for a house for our upcoming move to Cleveland. The owners and staff were friendly and are the kind of people that anyone would just wish they were friends with! Highly recommend this place for any sort of traveler, unless climbing stairs is a challenge. Transit to downtown and progressive field is just a block away. Great restaurants and coffee shops all in a 6 block radius. Thank you Cleveland Hostel for a great stay!

The perfect place for someone traveling. Clean, and located in a great part of Cleveland that offers good food, fun night life and many breweries. Also a block away from the rapid. Definitely check this place out.

We had a private Queen room with a private bathroom last summer, and it was a great stay. The staff is very friendly and the place was immaculate. And you can't beat the price! The rooms are also far more spacious than any other hostel I've been to. Our room had a big chalkboard with messages left from previous travelers (it was cool to see how far people had come from), and the rooftop patio has a wonderful view of the skyline. If I'm ever headed back to Cleveland I'll be staying here again. Highly recommend!

Incredible location! The room we stayed in was a private one with bath. It was very pleasant and decoration was comfortable and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again!

Amazing hostel. Great location. The first hostel that's not part of HI that I really liked. Close to Good brewery and public market. Has parking for free which is great.

Nice location! Good accommodations. The rooms are clean and simple with a nice hipster flair. I'd recommend it to young folks looking to stay in a popular Cleveland neighborhood and who don't want to spend much.

The location was ideal for 20-somethings. Bars and cafes close by. Hip neighborhood. Service was unobtrusive and helpful. The rooms are cozy and utilitarian.

The Cleveland hostel was quite nice. The round were very comfortable and inexpensive. There was plenty of shared community space eff there was plenty yup east and do within walking distance.

Every bigger city should have a hostel like this! Great location, ambiance and staff! Very clean and affordable. The people that stayed there were very friendly and from all types of places. Keep it up guys!

Very clean and affordable! The staff is courteous and friendly. Not the most comfortable bunk beds, but you cant get a better deal when traveling on a budget! Ohio City is great — lots of great eateries and cool shops! Public transit works out fine if you're planning on flying in and traveling by bus/train. Will definitely go back to the Cleveland Hostel if I'm back in Cleveland!

Probably the best hostel in the USA facilities and price wise. Spotless and good location near some nice bars and restaurants. Getting downtown is easy too. Couldn't recommend it more highly! Go!

I stayed in a dorm room a few months ago. It was winter, so I had the place to myself. I'm sure it gets busy in the warmer months, but that's what hostels are about. The decor is really cool. Bathrooms neat as shit. Great deal.

I'm having a really nice stay. Lovely space, comfortable bed and Mark the owner is very helpful. My private room is simple but has all the basics. This place is really new and clean. It's also convenient to have a kitchen and laundry facilities. This price and location really can't be beaten. (although I did wake up early because traffic is a bit noisy on 25th street, but that wasn't a problem at night) Right next to West Side Market, rail station and breweries in Ohio City. There's so much to see and eat. Don't miss out on Mitchell ice cream and Rising Star coffee. It's also worth going to Tremont for Lilly handmade chocolate.
