We were going to see a Cincinnati Bengals game and needed a hotel that was within walking distance so we wouldn't have to pay for parking. We arrived to a very helpful staff who guided us on where we were to park and when our room would be ready. We really didn't know what to expect after getting this one bedroom suite for $99. We were pleasantly surprised to come into a clean room that included a living room, a kitchen, and a bedroom. And people are complaining about it being outdated but for what you get and the price you pay, I really don't care about the decor, as long as it is clean! We had all the amenities we needed to stay there for two days. One of the days that we were there, we went down to the hotel café. The food was good and reasonably priced. If we are in Cincinnati again, we will definitely stay again!

Everything was great except house keeping. There were cobwebs in corners and black all over the walls and ceiling from dust build up over time. It could easy be wiped away with a swiffer duster or just a rag. The tile in the tub had lots of black from mold growing that could be taken care of easily if it wasn't built up over time of lazy cleaning. The kitchen floor was very sticky every where and there was a spot of dirt on the bed comforter. There was lots of dust built up on the carpet in corners and around things on the floor such as the lock box in our closet. Very nasty and noticeable. It's not difficult to use vaccum attachments to reach those areas or just move things around. I'm glad we were only there one night.

Very friendly service. The rooms are very large but dated. Bedroom had an old tube television but the living room had a large LG flatscreen. Rims have complete kitchens. Looks like the place hasn't been updated since the 1970's but overall a good place for the price. Thanks.

Rooms were spacious but in need of updating. Hotel staff were very friendly, but we did have issues getting the right room. First we were given a 1 bedroom suite when we had paid for 2 bedrooms. Then later we discovered that the couch did not pull out to a bed and had some issues in getting a roll away bed. The front office staff were very pleasant in helping to sort out the issues.

Our visit was 5/6 and we learned upon checking in that the hotel is being converted to apartments. The hotel was NOT kept up, old and very dirty. Carpets were torn in lobby and in rooms. There is no longer a restaurant on the property, contrary to the website when we booked. My husband was appalled also, which says a lot about this place. Although I must say that this staff was very friendly and helpful.

Rooms are big and nice to stay in, but the hotel is very old and it shows. CRT TV's in the bedrooms and the way to and from the parking garage is dirty and smelly. The water from the showers is very hard, and lamps and electrical outlets are occasionally broken. For the money, it's pretty good, considering the size of the rooms.

Cheapest place downtown. Very dated and just not that nice. However if you just need a place to crash that's in walking distance to everything down town this is your place. That said the rates don't deserve to be more than $50-60 a night as it is of a lower caliber than most motel 6's.

Although the hotel could use an update, this was one of the friendliest hotels I've stayed at. The people went above and beyond to tell you the best places to eat and go. Then, the shuttle would take you anywhere in town. Fantastic! I'll definitely stay there again.

Great location and the room was clean although the hotel could definitely use an update. The price was great for the location and the amount of space you get (I got a suite for a cheaper price than regular rooms at nearby hotels). They do have their own parking lot but parking is $6 per day, I'm not sure how this compares to the surrounding area. Getting into the hotel from the parking lot is a bit of an adventure as you have to go through a short maze of hallways and stairs before you get back to the lobby. Overall a good experience.

Location is great, right in the center of downtown. Furniture is not new, but acceptable. The main consern — prohibited usage of stove and oven (fire marshal directive).

Very dusty. Outdated tv's in bedrooms. Wallpaper pealing. Stove didnt work. Microwave didnt work, until we called down stairs and they said the time had to be set first. Sitting room Furniture old and dirty. Toilet backed up and they sent plunger for my 17 old to fix. That didnt work all weekend. Wifi very weak had to purchase hotspot on my phone. Very long walk from garage to lobby. No ice machine.

Decent cost but it isn't worth the money. The lobby and restaurant inside were updated but the rest of the place is very outdated. Walked into my room and it had dirty socks laying on the floor and the room smelled like smoke. I honestly didn't feel comfortable sitting on the furniture or bed. I am glad that my room had a nice view but other than that not worth coming back.

I'm not even sure where to begin. This was the worst hotel experience that I have encountered in Cincinnati. First off I paid $115 for one night in this less than average hotel. Which was supposed to be a one bedroom condo. However, it was a mere shack with very out dated furniture and electronics. They also advertise a full kitchen with stove, refrigerator, etc. What they fail to tell you is that you is that you can't use the stove. I spent $70 on groceries and I couldn't even eat. I called the concierge and they said oh it's nothing we can do. However, I can listen to you vent. Which was not the response I expected. The hallway smelled like marijuana and and some ones dirty laundry. There was music that played loudly from someone's room all night long. This is one place that I'm thankful I will never have to experience again. … Please run the other way… Unless you want to over pay to stay in a dump… Never again!

It's and older hotel but is a great place to stay in if you're looking for a lot of space on a budget. They have penthouses on the top floor that are a bit dated but a fun place to have a large gathering none the less. This is a classic get what you pay for situation. So I would just have realistic expectations and have a good time.

Located in downtown Cincinnati. The Garfield Suites is a much older hotel. However, the people are friendly, The cafe is good, and though, older the rooms are suites with full kitchen. Living room, bedroom, and bathroom. The rate was reasonable at 99$ a night compared to other places for 139$ a night. If you want modern luxury this isn't the place. Overall its okay though no major complaints.

"Must Read" Got to the hotel and the check in was fast and great. I was carrying a cooler an the hotel clerk offered me a free bag of ice which was great because I needed ice. Got to our room an the suite was roomy but outdated and smelled like an old persons house or moldy cigarettes but our room was nonsmoking. The windows could open all the way an were below waste height (felt like I could fall out, wasn't safe) and since the AC didn't work in the room we had to open the windows to let a breeze in. Checking out of the hotel was also fast an easy. I looked on my credit card an noticed an additional $100 charge. So I called the hotel to ask about the charge. I talk to someone an she said the charge was for the room not being clean. I explained to her that it was the maids job to clean the room and that the room only needed swept. (nothing was broken) then I was transferred to a voice mail. I called the hotel back and again after a few transfers I got a different voicemail. It was very frustrating and the $100 charge felt like a scam to me.

This is not a fancy or otherwise hotel designed to please the guest. It is a place to lay your head, spend the night, and shower. The furniture hails from anywhere USA circa 1983, including the mattress… all springs. Dust. Let's talk about dust, baby, let's talk about all the ok. So it wasn't a property up to my standards but it was adequate for a 1 night stay and I can see how some people might find it to be a great place. Check in was smooth and the parking garage was a nice option for only $6/day (although the garage is not ADA friendly, compliant yes but no direct access to the hotel). Next time, we will spend the extra money and stay where we can expect and rely on a superior bed and spoiling comforts.

Garfield Suites is the nicest little dump in Cincinnati. If you're going to see a football game with your buddy this place will do just fine. You will have separate rooms, separate bathrooms, and a small kitchen. The room was not dirty but it certainly could have been cleaned better (there were several long hairs in the shower and on the toilet, if you're cleaning you obviously shouldn't have missed, gross, but that was the worst). It is just a mile or so from great American and Paul Brown.

Love staying here for a blacking out type of night in cinci. Def not a place to bring a nice date or buisness trip location. If only they updated these suites would be best in Cincinnati.

Waaaaaaaaay out dated and severely in need of renovation. Mildew in the bathrooms, thick dust everywhere, just about everything is broken, oh and they have no necessities for purchase. Terrible hotel choice.

Horrible dont do it. Very unclean, big room Though. Floors arent mopped, dead bugs, no screens in windows that open fully Can you say liability. Across street from rowdy library. Only good was cheap parking.

BEWARE of false pictures. This hotel is extremely outdated, gross, and cheap. Basically a $40 room with an extra, outdated, dirty bedroom. Burn holes, dirt, outdated couch, WORST mattress I've ever slept on, ect. Left keys in my room, no one cares to help me… I was told to leave a voicemail because they are unable to check themselves in the department. Manager laughed at the fact I drove 330 miles to realize I dont have the keys to enter my business, my car, or my home. Very funny. Especially after buying 3 disgusting rooms for my employees. We have stayed in other hotels in downtown Cincinnati and the Millennium hotel is the same rate for MUCH more amenities, and high quality furnishings. I could not have been more displeased with the Garfield not-so "suites"

Check in was smooth and the guy working the front desk was incredible. Don I think his name was. Room was spacious. Very accomodating. Hotel deocor is pretty outdated. But definately, bang for your buck. Cant wait to go back.

"It's ok" is pretty accurate for this hotel. The room we stayed in had a full kitchen (but no dishes, silverware or cooking), 2 queen size beds and a living/dining area. It seems like it should be more of an extended stay place. It didn't feel completely clean, but the sheets didn't feel dirty either. My wife definitely would've preferred somewhere else, but she stayed there nonetheless. The decor is absolutely dated and could use updating. Though having outdated decor is probably what makes it one of the cheaper places to stay in the Cinci downtown area. You get what you pay for. The other hotels in the area are definitely nicer. There's a public parking garage around the corner that the front desk said charges $6/day, but when we left the garage after ~20 hours of parking on a Sunday evening we were only charged $2.

Very large room but not as nice as I thought. Still very good value. And would definitely stay again. Didn't like the parking situation though. If you stay here unload in the front not in the garage.

Stayed for 2 nights in july 2014. It was fantastic! For some reason me and my 3 friends were upgraded to a penthouse suite. The suite was huge. Two stories, with a full kitchen, large living room, two bathrooms, two big bedrooms and a huge balcony. TV set in basically every room. Location is good. Right downtown. Staff were very nice. Decent gym (allthough it could be a bit colder). All in all, I have nothing bad to say about this hotel.

This hotel was not great. I stayed there for one night to see a concert, and one night is the absolute limit. While the staff was friendly and the breakfast good, that was about it. The room was not dirty, per se, but definitely felt unclean, the beds looking especially unappealing — to the point where even after I checked for bedbugs, (something which I have never done in ten years of traveling and never hope to again — fortunately there weren't any) I decided to sleep on the couch. Along with the beds, I found the shower suspect, and, as such, drove home feeling very unclean. Cleanliness is not the only problem, however. The room looked like it been cobbled together out of a furniture store liquidation sale during the Clinton administration, and hadn't been updated since. Anything electrical was not directly mounted to the wall — not even hanging fixtures. There were only three lights with wall switches, and everything else, including a ceiling lamp, had a cord with a switch on it. The full kitchen was similarly out of date, and I shudder to think of the number of times something went bad inside that Reagan-era fridge.

Wow. This hotel really needs an update. I went to this hotel on the recommendation of the Horseshoe Casino and I will not stay here again. I got one of the Penthouse suites and expected it to be nice. The nice part was it did have three bedrooms and a balcony. But that is where the nice ended. The couch looked like it had spent 4 years in a fraternity house. Stains, burns, and broken down beyond what any couch should be out side of a landfill. The beds and mattresses looked and felt like they were 15+ years old. The balcony had cheap rot-iron chairs and a table. The door leading out to it could only be kept shut if it was locked. The handle striker didn't even work. The "flower bed" on the balcony had nothing but tall weeds in it. Paint was peeling off the ceiling in several places. I refused to walk barefoot on the carpet as it had so many stains it looked like it had never been cleaned. The window treatments (vertical blinds) did nothing to keep the light out as they were broken all over the place. Walk into the lobby and it smells musty and moldy. It is outdated completely. The restaurant does not at all look inviting. The people at the counter were nice. Valet was nice, but overpriced for one night ($21, when I'm already spending $250 on the room). They took out a $150 security deposit on the room (on top of charging my credit card for the full amount at time of reservation) for "damage potential. " Are you serious? Your rooms look like dirty fraternity houses.

I was in town for a Quality Engineering seminar, upon arriving at the hotel, the staff were quite hospitable. I checked in and was not satisfied with the room I had reserved. In my personal opinion it was not as clean as I would have hoped to have it. HOWEVER, I spoke with the Manager of the Hotel, and explained my concerns. The Manager immediately apologized for the inconvenience and offered me an upgraded room which in my opinion was above and beyond my expectation. The Manager even offered me a key to inspect the room prior to my acceptance. I was thouroughly pleased with the room. I was also offered a free breakfast. The actions of this one Manager along with his expedience and compassion to ensure my stay was pleasent and enjoyable. Has earned my respect as a loyal customer. If I need to be in the queen city again, I will surely use the Garfield Suites. Considering my background is in the field of Quality Assurance, this one Manager is proof that customer relations and Quality are still considered in the day to day operations of business. The Manager knows who he is, I personally thank him and wish him the best of luck! as a side note;The cafe Martin located downstairs also makes great hot wings.

My first impression of Garfield Suites was not that good at all. When I walked into the hotel to check in, I approached the front desk and was expecting some sort of "Hello" or any sort of greeting from the front desk worker Ashleigh. Instead she looked up at me with a glare and then looked back down at her computer monitor. I stood at the counter for about a minute or so thinking maybe she was finishing an important task in the system. She could have easily told me "I'll be with you in just a second" if that was the case. But she never said a word. After about one minute I said "Is this where I check in? ' She replies "What's the last name? " After giving her my information and she swiped my debit card she just slapped the room keys down on the counter and no other words were spoken from her. I then proceeded to tell her I had never stayed there before and needed some help about how to navigate my room and also the parking. She seemed so put out by me asking her that. I understand people have bad days but you shouldn't let your guests know that. I was simply asking for instructions about where the parking garage was and the elevators. I've worked in the service industry for a long time and even at my busiest and most stressful times I would never let my guests know how I was truly feeling. There was no one else in that lobby except her.
