This hotel was not great. I stayed there for one night to see a concert, and one night is the absolute limit. While the staff was friendly and the breakfast good, that was about it. The room was not dirty, per se, but definitely felt unclean, the beds looking especially unappealing — to the point where even after I checked for bedbugs, (something which I have never done in ten years of traveling and never hope to again — fortunately there weren't any) I decided to sleep on the couch. Along with the beds, I found the shower suspect, and, as such, drove home feeling very unclean. Cleanliness is not the only problem, however. The room looked like it been cobbled together out of a furniture store liquidation sale during the Clinton administration, and hadn't been updated since. Anything electrical was not directly mounted to the wall — not even hanging fixtures. There were only three lights with wall switches, and everything else, including a ceiling lamp, had a cord with a switch on it. The full kitchen was similarly out of date, and I shudder to think of the number of times something went bad inside that Reagan-era fridge. As I said, the staff was friendly, but not too helpful — a short night's sleep on the couch was abruptly ended by the maid at 8AM, even with a do not disturb sign, and the night before, the employee behind the front desk forgot to tell me that the courtesy shuttle ended at 10PM, which didn't help me, as the concert ended at 10:30, and I was forced to walk back through the not-very-nice neighborhood that the hotel is located in. By the time I got there, it was past 11, and the restaurant, and by extension, room service, was closed for the night — they even disconnect the room service line so you can't call it. I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend. For what I paid, this place could have been a lot better, and they seem to know that — the lobby is beautiful, and the website shows images from probably the only nice room in the whole hotel, and the hotel is just nice enough that inexperienced travelers think it's great and leave nice reviews online, making the bad ones seem like flukes. Bottom line, unless you're an investor looking to buy a major fixer-upper, go somewhere else.
