This place has a lot to offer for vacationers! Went zip lining — was a bit out of my comfort zone, but after the 3rd zip, I was good. The heights still bothered me, and of course the launch off of every platform, but it was exhilarating! Tristan and Pierce are both excellent guides! I would do this again!

I’m personally not a nature person but my best friend has her wedding here and it was stunning! The staff made it really helpful and less stressful than it could have been. It was lovely! ❤️

With the times were are in nothing is perfect. My daughter not only meet an amazing chef rick. She meet a freind for life. The resort like any business has things to improve but the staff thats was very tired sure made up for any fustration we will return very soon

We had our elopement here, and it was an amazing experience! The communication was quick, clear, and efficient! Everything we needed was provided and more! Beautiful location, amenities, and the most friendly and professional staff you can ask for in a resort.
My husband and I have both worked in the service and hospitality industry before finding our full time careers, so we have a great deal of experience on both sides and know what to look for and how to treat people and we were completely satisfied and can’t wait to make this a yearly destination.
Also, we can’t leave a review without talking about the incredible food! It was fresh and there were plenty of healthy and comfort food options, along with decadent deserts.
We had a 75 minute massage as part of our elopement package and it was so relaxing and therapeutic. She used aromatherapy and made sure to check on your comfort and pressure level throughout the session.

Never in my life have I left a poor review of any place before. Spacious & functional cabin. Friendly staff!

My family of 6 had a great stay post-Christmas! We felt very comfortable with their social distancing and masking policies. Very easy to get snowshoes and skis as needed from the outfitters, and they provided great advice regarding trails! Fun activities such as candle making and bonfires too. Would highly recommend, and I can’t wait to go back!

We got Married here with the elopement package and couldnt have been happier with our stay! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was great and the views are amazing! Highly recommend.

We had such a great time here! We did the Big Sag package. Our guide Jon was very knowledgeable and we took home lots of fish! He made up an amazing shore lunch for us with one of our catches for lunch. Cabin was cozy and private. The restaurant serves up delicious food, so bring your appetite! The walleye chowder was to die for, we wanted to bring a bucket of just that home, haha. We definitely plan to go back and try out some more of their activities!

The staff made everything super easy for a canoe and camping trip for my son and I. Highly recommend.

Staff was so helpful & great to talk to about trails for hiking & places to see. Lee did not fish but they have a nice selection of fishing boats available. The property was beautiful & cabins very comfortable. Was there for a girl's getaway but great for families too!

I can’t say enough good things about our experience here! The staff was incredibly fabulous! We went dogsledding the best experience I’ve had Up north! Snowshoeing and spotted moose and I believe a lynx! We will be coming back every year! I highly recommend coming to the Gunflint Lodge. We stayed in cabin 25 — fabulous! Thank you Gunflint Lodge — fabulous clean and beautiful place! Your staff rocks and made my bday on March 11 2020 awesome!

We purchased the elopement package, we had such a great experience. Very friendly staff. They took care of the officiant & food, plus 60 minute massage for each, 2 person snowmobile rental for a half day, dog sled ride, & many more winter activities! Great place for an elopement or wedding or just because. Special thanks to chef Rick, Steve, Charlie, Jasmin with the dogs, the gal that checked us in for snowmobile rental at the Outfitters, of course Carly our officiant & many others that made our big day so wonderful! The food was exceptionally good! Definitely going back again!

Such a wonderful time here at the lodge, the breakfast was great and the staff was very sweet, hospitable and helpful, Carlos especially made our trip up there a delight. The included rental snowshoes and cross country skiis were very fun and the little ice rink was the cherry on top! We will definitely be back and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway or an outdoor family stay.

The cabins are clean and the staff is attentive to the customers needs and enjoyment. Appreciated John’s activities and music entertainment very much. The quiet sunrise, or starry campfire nights-Just a great place to unwind.

Just got home from The Gunflint Lodge & I already can't wait until I go back. The little cabin I stayed in was very clean, spacious, & comforatable. I loved that there was a screened in porch with a picnic table, so I did not have to get eaten alive by mosquitoes while I ate. The lodge was a brief walk away with free coffee, tea, & cookies which definitely helped start my day while I was there. While drinking my tea I even got to feed the ducks with little bags of duck feed they provided in the front of the lodge. The lodge even provided actives throughout the day every day of the week. I had no clue they did that, so it was a plus. Staff was also very friendly and accomadating.

Just returned from our first BWCA experience which was outfitted through Gunflint Lodge and Outfitters. They were awesome! Everything was prepared for us, they helped us plan the trip and went through how to use all the gear. The meals they packed us were magnificent! Definitely no shortage of food on the trip. Mandy provided us with a first rate experience. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful, clean, peaceful lodge with great accommodations! Restaurant has “to die for” walleye quesadilla’s! Great memories made!

I don’t think I can say enough amazing things about our stay at Gunflint. It was amazing, beautiful, the staff was great! Especially the ones who help with the activities ❤️ Rod and Jenna were both fantastic! Our cabin was perfect and we enjoyed the outdoors so much. We can’t wait to plan another trip here.
We did eat at the restaurant Justine’s one night and I was really disappointed but otherwise our stay was PERFECT!

Everything has been amazing. The staff, the cabin, nature surrounding this place, the ease of access to the trails, the food (OMG the food), the fishing guide (Jon was awesome), horseback riding (Kiersten and Sam were great), zipline (Mike and Parker were awesome and really helped me get past my fear of heights). I dont want to leave and will be making it a point to come back again. Thank you for an awesome experience including the marriage vows performed right outside our cabin.

There was free coffee, tea and cocoa from 7a to 11p and a very pleasant staff — the Outfitters people especially.

We went on the zip line tour which was amazing, with great guides. After however we stopped at the restaurant and it was extremely under staffed. We were seated outside and waited 15 minutes but never got waited on so we just left.

Very nice lodge on the edge of the Boundary Waters. Just the right balance of rustic wilderness and modern convenience. The primary focus of this place is to be a launching point for Boundary Waters canoe trips but you can also stay and take day trips. Day use is free for canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards.

Wonderful place to visit! My favorite time is in the winter when ticks are no longer a problem. I went here before new ownership took over and have not been back as the prices have gone up. I hope to be back in the future I hope nothing changes.

We stayed in a bunkhouse for the night before we set out on the border route trail. The bunk house was decent and the staff is very friendly.

The quintessential northwoods experience. Cabins are comfortable. Food at the lodge is very tasty. Service is very helpful. Gunflint lake itself is spectacular. Clear cold waters, beautiful views. Fishing.

Gorgeous location, sweet staff, comfortable cabins. It was really relaxed up there. I'd highly recommend renting a boat and exploring. Bridal falls is a short rewarding hike. I'd definitely like to visit Gunflint again and spend a week or two up there!

Love, love, love the Gunflint Lodge! Just returned from a fabulous weekend up there and have felt restored and renewed all week since then. The quiet beauty of the woods and lake, the fabulous and friendly staff, the foresight and genius of the management and new owners, Mindy and John Fredrikson — these all contributed to the most relaxing and lovely weekend I've spent in years! For those who like to do a lot of outdoors activities, there are hikes, and horseback trail rides, and a canopy zipline, canoeing, fishing, swimming and so many other things. For those who need to be still and just contemplate the wonder of Nature, though, this is also THE place to be, I find. And the history of this place, started as a little fishing camp in 1927 by an amazing woman, makes it extra enticing to those who care about the history of Minnesota and the BWCA.

My fiance' and myself are getting married on the 30th of June and called last night to speak to someone about the honeymoon package. April helped us, and could not have been more pleasant and informative. If the couple of days after our wedding at Gunflint Lodge are half as good as April's customer service, we'll be extremely happy! Excited!

The food here is amazing and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. This is a great place to be as active or relaxed as you'd like with tons of activities to take part in, or to relax by the lake, or take advantage of the many hiking trails nearby. The cabins are excellent and have everything you could want.

Let me just start by saying if you are looking for a resort/hotel experience or you have kids and are in need of guided activities, this is the place for you. They have "daily" guided hikes and crafts, as well as bike rentals, horse riding, canoes/kayaks etc. If not, I would consider other options along Gunflint Trail. This was not our first visit to the Gunflint Trail, due to many of the other lodges being closed for April, we decided to give this one a try since we love Gunflint Lake so much. The grounds were nice enough (very icy on pathways), cabins were ok, and the location was beautiful. Our issue was with the staff. When we arrived there were no keys available for our cabin, the front desk assured us they would find a set of keys and give them to us the next day, when we returned to the front desk the new staff had no idea we did not have keys and instead gave us a master key and rudely told us "do not lose this" instead of just finding the guest keys. When we went into our cabin, the bed sheets were dirty and looked like they had not been changed after the previous guest. Since we arrived in the evening we waited until the next day and slept on our own blankets instead. Once we advised the front desk they changed the sheets right away, and apologized for housekeeping. We had to make many other trips to the front desk for replacement items in the cabin, housekeeping never once visited our cabin during our 3 day visit.

We just finished a wonderful short vacation with the Gunflint Lodge. The people were great and provided awesome service (Chris behind the bar and as a server, Kim also as a server). We were spoiled for sure. I recommend the naturalist John. He was dripping with knowledge and stories. His wolf howling excursion was awesome as he took out for a nighttime hike and educated us on wolves, stars, trees and you name it. Above and beyond. We will be back!

Great place for a vacation. My 2nd visit there, and love it. Staff are very welcoming, and the resort is top notch. Plenty of activities to participate in, or do nothing at all but enjoy the beauty.

Every year myself and a group of friends trailer our sleds up to the Grand Marais area and ride the trails. Last year we decided to ride the Gunflint trail from Cascade up to the Gunflint Lodge for lunch. We had the best walleye sandwich along with some of the best customer service and hospitality. The ride was so nice as was our experience there, that we did it again this year. Now, we're planning a summer trip there as well. I'd recommend this place to anyone who loves good food and outdoor activities.

My family and I had a fantastic time at the Gunflint Lodge this week. We rented cabin which was perfect for us. It did have one flaw though however. The heater in the main bedroom kept turning off in the middle of the night and would not go back on. This made that room pretty cold being that the outside temps were well below zero. The dogsledding was great. Adam was very knowledgeable and provided an excellent experience for all of us. We did three 6 mile runs and one shorter one. We were very disappointed though with the
Ice Fishing experience. When we booked the reservation over the phone the lady assured us that all of the equipment and bait would be provided. When we went to the outfitters to sign the paperwork we were advised that not only did it not include poles or lures but that the closest place that had bait was back in Grand Marais, a 1 hr drive back to town. Had we been told this up front we could have brought bait with us from town. We also were told we had to buy our own poles. We were visiting from Florida and had no reason to buy poles since we don't have use for them where we live. The front desk needs to get on the same page as the outfitters. Sadly there wasn't any apology given for the inconvenience. I guess the good news is that I now own an ice fishing pole that I can use in future trips back to Minnesota. When we went to pick up the equipment the next day, they actually had rods set up for us and were going to charge an extra $5.00 per day per rod.

Please please please bring your groupon deals back! yes I know. Im cheap… but more like 200+ dollars/night are just out of my young mid 20's prices range… this place will always have a place in my heart. I even bought your cookbook! (please check out their gift shop). I went two years in a row and really wanted to make it a tradition to go every year : (. One day I maybe able to afford such prices : (

Beautiful cabins for all sizes of groups! We stayed at one of the romantic cabins and loved being so close to the lake and with easy access to the restaurant and front desk. Lots of activities to do all year long. Delicious food, very fancy, every penny is worth it. Loved having coffee, hot cocoa and tea for courtesy! We will definitely go back. Loved our experience.

Sometimes at the end of a beautiful drive you find a rainbow, that describes Gunflint Lodge. This place is a little slice of heaven. The restaurant has views of Gunflint Lake that take your breath away. The menu offers a wide variety of tasty meals from starters to sandwiches to full meals. They offer a bar with complementary coffees and hot chocolate (they even have tiny marshmallows! ). Look out over the Lake and you will see Canada on the opposite shore. My first time was in winter, this will be a place we visit in every season. Don't miss this place, its that special.

In addition to some great hiking (check Magnetic Rock) the food at the lodge is really good. Love the little rustic bar. Cabins are spacious, clean and well kept.

Absolutely love this place! Just returned home from a weekend of peace… well kind of. Murder mystery weekend was phenomenal. The staff was friendly with great service. Cabin was clean and cozy, ours had a real fireplace which added so much to the feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle of life. The food was delicious. Stunning setting. And the hosts were so friendly they felt like family. I would stay here all year if I could. Definitely coming back and I highly recommend anyone would love staying here. The wolf hike is something I also recommend.

This place is perfect. The service was fantastic. The guided activities were fun and insightful. The views were to die for, as was the hiking. I can't wait to go back. It was truly paradise.

A group of 6 of us rented the Pow Wow Lodge on a chilly January weekend and had a fabulous time! We did a lot of hiking, night star photography up at look out point, we drove down to Grand Marais for sunset and had a mocha at Java Moose! :) We also drove up to Trails end campground and photographed Upper and Lower Seagull falls at sunset. The river was flowing quite nicely for January 29th. Pack your snowshoes and ice cleats, you will need them. Take time to relax in the sauna, the huge stone fireplace and enjoy all the birds from the kitchen window. I highly recommend Gunflint Lodge! Also, go dog sledding with Adam. He was off doing the Beargrease dogsled race the weekend we were up… and in the summer or fall go ziplining, it's worth every penny and the views are priceless!
