We staying in one of the two bedroom suites when traveling through the area. Our room had a musty smell to it that, had we been staying longer than one night, would have been bothered me. The breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast fare and it was kept well stocked. There is a nice beach area with a walkway to access it on the north side of the back building. Overall, not a bad place to stay. Would have rated it higher had our room not had the smell.

Front desk staff was polite and helpful. View from the room was beautiful. Room was nice. It was clean but we did notice about 10 dead bugs (mosquitoes) stuck on the ceiling. Nice pool and spa, has a laundry room also. Hot breakfast was good.

Avoid this hotel. Staff is less than friendly. Breakfast is so-so at best. Our suite was just outside of the breakfast area so at 630 people started lining up for the 7 o clock opening. I had to ask people that had made themselves comfortable sitting on our balcony to be quiet because my granddaughter was still sleeping. When we came back from a walk the staff from the breakfast area was sitting outside of our room smoking. The room had one bedspread that appeared to have a burn hole in it. The shower room has mold on the ceiling. The room could use a good cleaning and the chairs were stained. We arrived at 1 and the room wasn't ready, no big deal, but when asking for a place to change we were directed to the rest room in the pool area, wet floor and all. Guess they don't have a bathroom in the lobby?

Hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. Manager made sure I had a nice and safe spot to park my truck and boat. Our room was gorgeous as well. Lots of windows and huge jacuzzi tub. I would stay here again in a heart beat! :)

Beautiful view, good breakfast, helpful staff, close to ferry docks and shopping.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE Went to use hot tub after long day at Mackinac Island, it was covered in thick nasty film, we had to filter the water and clean it with skimmer, and scrubber. After finding a condom wrapper we decided not to use the hot tub went to go in the pool and the condom itself was sitting on the side. So we went to our rooms to immediately take showers, while entering our room we could barely get our door opened and latched closed after opening it, because the door had a big gap in it, floors needed cleaned and shampooed. There were bugs everywhere on and by the windows and outside door/balcony. Our blankets and sheets were stained. Finger prints still on mirror, and coffee table was dirty. The following morning when we went up to the office to report everything that happened late last night, I went to speak to management he wasn't there, the lady told me he'd call me when he got back, I waited for a call for three hours, never got one. So I finally called them, and asked if the manager was in they said yes… finally got to talk to him. I got on the phone with him, I said everything at the top of this post and he said that there was nothing he could do because we didn't tell him as soon as we left the pool area late last night. He was very disrespectful and very unconcerned. And there was no compensation done.

Hot tub smelled like vomit and when we turned the jets on brown water came out. Pool was dirty looking and had bugs floating in it, we were the only people in the pool. Toilet had poop all over it, would not consider using it. The woman at the front desk got her manager who acted slightly irritated for having to put his ice cream down and he was wearing an MSU t-shirt and shorts. Didn't look like a manager at all. He blamed the city of Mackinac for the stains on the pool floor because of the water quality. Besides that it was a "thanks for letting us know. " Now I feel disgusting because I feel like I waded in someone's vomit. Very bad experience. However our room was clean and a very pretty view. However we probably would not return because of the pool and hot tub. We have young kids and with all the other choices in this town we don't have to deal with this again. I'm disappointed.

Beuatiful views with traditional feeling rooms. Customer service was excellent.

Very tired, rooms need wallpaper stripped and new coat of paint. Not as nice as most other clarions I have stayed in.

Stayed there one night. Booked a King room with a 2 person jacuzzi tub. The room was spacious, but the decor was a bit dated. However it was clean and overlooked the beach. Overall I was satisfied for the price we paid for the room.

This hotel has a really weird layout and the parking lot is really chaotic. Breakfast was really good though. It was listed as continental so I was expecting just bagels and pastries, but it was a full hot breakfast. Our room was really nice. We didn't get a chance to check out the pool or Jacuzzi but I wasn't a fan of how far away from our room it was. Overall, we would probably stay here again.

We stayed here as stop over for one night and it was pleasant stay. Room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast had many choices. No complaints. Its perfect place for short stay.

Stains, stains and more stains. The carpet had food stains, the bedspread had food stains, the comforter had food stains, and one the sheets had a hole in it. And the chair had what appeared to be multiple bodily fluid stains! And to further stress the fact that the cleaning staff is incompetent to say the least. I've attached a picture of how they like to use the luggage cart to transport dirty, smelly, leaking garbage bags! The only reason I gave them two stars is because the beach was nice with a good view and the free breakfast bar was very good.

This is a nice hotel. The staff were all very kind, the room was clean and comfortable, the beach was nice, the view was awesome, and breakfast was filling. Our only complaint was the pool and hot tub. The chemicals were so strong they left us with a burning sensation in our eyes and throat. If they backed off on the chemicals they would have received 5 stars. Don't let this deter you from staying… there's always the beach!

Very clean with a great front desk staff, especially Alli. I had an A/C problem that they fixed while I was out for the day. When I returned and after a couple hours the problem came back but the staff call an emergency repair service very late at night. They came out and looked, left & came back with a brand new unit still in the crate. Even though it was about midnight before I got to sleep, I had a cool room for the next 2 nights I was there. Great place to stay with a great view of Lake Huron and a clean sand beach with fire rings. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants a comfortable and clean place to stay.

Great views, breakfast, and a huge pool for the kids that is open till midnight. Love the location too! Right next to (walking distance) the Starline ferry service. This place is convenient for both shopping in mackinaw City and heading to the island. Definitely will stay again!

If Google gave the option of zero stars, this hotel would receive it. I've stayed at many hotels throughout my life, and have never had a worse experience than I encountered at the Mackinac Island Clarion Hotel. The rooms are filthy, sheets are itchy—and worst of all—BED BUGS. About an hour after leaving the hotel, we were covered in rashes, red dots–that continue to itch like crazy! After calling customer support and being transferred to the hotel manager, I have never felt more disrespected in my entire life. Thinking the hotel manager would offer an apology… he did just the opposite. The hotel manager is one of the most rude and utterly disrespectful people I've ever spoken to. He denied there being any bed bugs and called me a liar several times, before hanging up on him. This man does not belong in the hospitality business. I have never been treated this way at a hotel—heck, I've never been treated this way in my entire life. Tomorrow morning, I look forward to sending the hotel photos of our rashes (per their request). Other than that — breakfast was dirty, sticky, and tasted poorly.

Had a very nice experience here. The staff was great at assisting us with answers we needed. The beach was clean and had a very nice view. The rooms were clean. I can't wait til next year when we come back again.

My fiance and I vacationed here 8 years ago and it was nothing like we remembered. We stayed in the hot tub lake front room, the same room we stayed in 8 years ago. Sadly, there was no updating to the room, bedding, furniture, hot tub, bathroom, or carpet. The musty smell was overwhelming and there were bugs in every crevice and corner. The hot tub was dingy and the paint was peeling off the inside of the tub. I never write reviews and I don't like being a snob, so on a positive note, the breakfast feast is AMAZING! They go all out when it comes to breakfast. But I sadly do not plan on returning to this hotel.

This was a good location. Although on check out we brought to the attention of the "manager" that the shower was broken & we had no Wi-Fi for 4 days — the manager went completely ballistic on my poor husband — wow! That was insane! Thankfully my husband is a plumber and was able to rig the shower to work and the sink & shower were not draining & he was able to fix that problem as well. Because we fixed it we didn't call maintenance but instead brought it to the attention of the manager upon checkout — my husband asked for a discount & this sent the "manager" over the edge. Do yourself a favor & do not stay here. There are too many other great choices to be mistreated as we were.

Not enough electrical outlets. Reservation associate said we has a room over looking court yard — got a room looking highway. Poor internet connection, had to go to lobby. Kept losing connection in room. Faucet leaked. Desk associate would not move us. No one cleaning tables at breakfast. Staff walks buy and does not acknowledge you. Never stay here again. NOT recommend.

Loved the view was on lake front. The way to the rooms needs updated. You take the elevator to the 3rd floor go down steps and then turn a corner and go up steps to the 4th floor. No way to use a bell cart that is offered. So your carrying your luggage crazy set up. The breakfast which we tried the first morning was disappointing eggs had hard lumps, gravy straight out of a can, meat was over cooked. Waffles were good. Room was clean loved the high ceiling in our room 428.

Location and price was good comparatively, but it's NOT a hotel. It's a motel. Which was very disappointing to me considering its advertised as and I was told by whoever answered the phone that it is in fact, a hotel. It was clean, pretty comfortable, and they have big TVs. Not a bad stay, I'm just still raw about not getting my hotel.

Great location, great customer service. Pool is really nice as well as hot tub. The room was really good but only complaint was it seemed like it needed updating. The chair upholstery was very dirty looking, the carpet was also rough. But overall a good value and was a good experience.

Beware of this place. The worst experience with a hotel room I have ever had. The bed had bed bugs. We were in room 230 and after the first night I found all these big bites all ver my arms and legs. The next day I found a dead bed bug and some blood stains on the sheets. Yuk. The breakfast is another story. The wheat bread had mold and when I told them about it, they just responded with 'Oh Ok. Just throw it away'. I don't know if they even replaced the other bread.

I called and made a reservation 2 months in advance for 3 rooms on the 1st floor facing the beach with the idea I could watch my grandchildren playing. Upon check in I was told I was on the 3rd floor. The place was disgusting! There were dead bugs all over, along with stains on our bedding and the carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years! I called to speak with the manager and was told nothing could be done. She also hung up on me twice! To say I was unhappy with this hotel would be an understatement!

This is my favorite place to stay in Mackinaw City. The only drawback that might concern some is that there are stairs to climb — — but that's only in one part of the hotel. If stairs are an issue, I would mention this when booking to see if you can be accommodated. Other than this, it's terrific. The view is awesome (lakefront balcony room), the beds are very soft, and they have fire pits on the beach for a nice lakeside atmosphere. It's also one of the best priced hotels in town. I really enjoy this hotel. If you're not a high-maintenance type person and are looking for a nice, fairly-priced place to stay, you'll enjoy it also.

Pool, nice beach, small game room, fair breakfast buffet. Broken TVs, rude/lazy staff, loud guests.

Clean rooms and beautiful view of Lake Huron (on the far side of the hotel) with reasonable rates. Beach access and complementary breakfast in the morning helps this hotel stand out from the many, many other hotels on the "strip". Still, all-in-all, nothing really outstanding.

King Jacuzzi Suite was very outdated. Reminded me of 1981. Breakfast was poor also. Staff was very friendly. I will spend my money elsewhere next time.

I wont be returning. I spent a little extra for the jacuzzi room with lake beach access which was the cool. However I was extremely disappointed with the room. The room was older so it had the musty smell. The carpet was old and kind of reminded me of my grandmothers house. The room looked cleaned however the sheets didnt appear to have been washed. There was hair in the towels. However the reason this gets two stars not one is because the great location and the freaking outstanding customer service at the front desk.

After having a horrible experience at the Days Inn Bridgview, we stopped at the Clarion. What a great hotel from the hotel staff to the rooms. The girl at the front desk offered to show us two different rooms to make sure they were satisfactory. We ended up choosing their Jacuzzi room with a King size bed. Beautiful Room! I recommend the Clarion to anybody.
