Great service. Our hotel was closed so they moved us to Mackinaw Beach and Bay. Since we were transferred they put us in a 2 room Suite! beautiful view of Lake Huron (frozen)

We stayed here Oct 5th and I had messed up the reservation. Nancy and the other lady behind the desk fixed everything for me and had us in a beautiful room in no time with no fuss. Great customer service.

A great bang for your buck. Lakefront rooms with balconies are highly recommended by yours truly. The GM Nancy is friendly, accommodating, and informative.

Great place to stay. Friendly staff, large clean rooms and a amazingly beautiful view of the lake and bridge from are room balcony. We have stayed here twice now will be back next year.

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at! Dirty rooms and the desk worker was the rudest man I have ever encountered in a hotel. A large group of us stayed there during their offseason and you’d think they would have been happy to have our business but nope they were awful.

My son's room had bugs throughout the room. Also lipstick marks on the bed sheets. The unhelpful concierge, John, was very rude to my son and his wife. I do not recommend this place.

They need to most definitely replace the General manager John. The place is Not the same since they have new management. And some staff. First off, I stayed here 3 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. This time, dealt with an incident in which the front desk worker was Extremely rude and condescending on more then one occasion. When I voiced my complaints to the GM John to be specific, he almost was hostile and very very rude. Did not care what so ever about my concerns and said I didn't need to come back. I am not the only one to complain against the specific person, but please refer to the Google reviews, many were "specific" against the man, "john". He essentially said, he didn't care if we ever came back because they are busy all the time anyway. Hmm. Attitudes like that and it will hurt the business.

Bugs. Dirty Sheets. A lying, very rude manager/owner. Don’t do it! I was traveling with my husband and 3 little children ages 1, 4 and 5. We checked in the hotel at 10/10:30 pm tired from the long day to dirty sheets and a swarm of bugs. There was a fresh spot of makeup on our little ones bedsheets and black and brown spots along with bugs on mine and my husband’s sheets. And the ceiling and room was infested with bugs. We called the service desk multiple times, they said they will bring clean sheets up but the last time I called another worker claimed they don’t service rooms with clean sheets and said that I would have to get them myself. When I went down to get the “clean” (stained) sheets from the service desk, already very irritated because my kids had to stay up this entire time due to the lazy and dirty service, I asked the employee if bugs are common to have in their rooms and showed The gentleman a photo I took of the bugs and also asked what they were and if they bite just as any concerned mother or being would. Response: no. I don’t know what those are and said “if they bite we don’t have any diseases around here or anything if that’s what your worried about. ” I can’t even! After a sleepless nigh, the next day we told another employee about our experience and she advised we speak with the manager named John. This man was the rudest person I’ve ever dealt with.

Run down, dirty, bro, broken down equipment no towels in the pool expensive pieces rude staff! and that is the first few hours smdh! they will never get another penny from me or my family.

We’ve stayed at the Mackinaw Beach and Bay every October for at least the last 10 years. The rooms are great! The staff is great! Looking forward to this October!

Yeah loved it… almost. Last night was great until I woke up to a mouse crawling on my bed. Reported it to the front desk and the guy said they don't have mice anywhere in the entire building. They checked us out for the weekend and they general manager John said I still was getting a refund for the two night prepaid stay for the night we weren't going to be there but had to be done with Expedia. Expedia contacted John, guess what? He refused refund said he and Sally personally check the rooms for cleanliness. What do you think?

Management is always friendly hotel rooms are extremely clean everyone is friendly there would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay there. We will be back. Thank you.

This hotel was wonderful. The owner calls you by name, the staff are helpful and courteous. The price was so affordable. The room was clean, perfect beds. Breakfast was good and well stocked. We had a ground floor room making easy access to the beach. DON'T FEED THE SEAGULLS, IT'S ILLEGAL! Someone got injured when eating their bagel and someone on the second floor was feeding the gulls. Just don't do it!

We stayed here three nights in a suite with a king bed and queen bed. The room was nice size and perfect for our little family of three. The hotel was clean and staff attentive. The breakfast buffet is very busy in the morning and includes staples like biscuits, sausage, eggs, cereal, breads, and juice. It was warmed up GFS food but free and plentiful. We could see the Friday night fireworks very well from our balcony and the sunrise in the morning. The beach is very rocky with grass and large driftwood which is why I’m giving it a four. But a mile from downtown and close to the ferries it was a great place to stay on our vacation.

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel was clean, the staff was attentive and friendly. The house keeping was nice enough to place my child’s stuff animals neatly on the freshly made bed. The breakfast was hot and tasty! I was worried about the hotel manager because of the other reviews. Let me say he was the most kind and helpful person you could meet!

The rooms were spacious and clean. We had a nice view of the beach. The breakfast was sub par. The eggs tasted like they were mixed with water. I had to ask for more orange juice. The gentleman serving there was extremely nice. However, the people working at the front desk were rude. The older man and the woman with the accent. I asked the woman if she needed my card for the Sheplar ferry tickets as my friend was communicating to her and she said, “I know you need sepa…rate credit cards. I’ll get to you. ” But she was rude! Then, someone was in a hurry and backed out very quickly but I was already in the lane and they rammed my car. I asked the front desk to call the police and they said, “Don’t you have a cell phone? It didn’t happen in here. ” I said, “I’m on hotel property. ” He said, “If I call my whole board will light up. ” I said, “I really don’t care”. He used his personal cell phone. I only went in if we ever had to prove what happened they were aware and might have cameras. The guy who hit me was lying saying I wasn’t there. You may get big rooms but courtesy and respectful service mean more to me. Imagine if you really did have an emergency inside their hotel? I’ve read the front desk is rude! One comment is hmmm… means nothing. More than one well… it should be investigated.

We really enjoyed our stay. Room and hotel were clean. View of the lake was perfect. Staff was friendly. The pool had so much clorine in it after 5 minutes it burned your eyes. We will definitely stay here again. It was great having a king bed and a queen bed with a balcony facing the beach and lake. Even had a couch and 2 TVs.

Manager was VERY rude. Front lady was helpful. Kinda dated but not as bad as some of the other pictures I seen online before I booked. The lake front veiw is amazing. Breakfast wasn't very good. Hallways were hot, felt like air conditioners didn't work in that area of hotel, coffee wasn't very good. They have signs all over the front desk screaming "NO REFUNDS, ALL SALES FINAL" I instantly thought, oh no a lot of people must complain. I would really love to give this place a better review but I can't get over how incredibly RUDE the manager was. I just had a basic question about billing when we were checking out and he told me as he's ignoring me counting receipts, "I'm really busy and I'm trying to count these "I don't have time for this"… no one else was even up at the desk.

DON'T DO IT! My family and I showed up to the hotel only to find every individual that works there to either have a attitude towards their guests or they totally ignored us daily. When I approached the front desk I greeted the woman and man working and both individuals ignored me and when you did ask a question, they responded with force and disrespect. The room was dirty, the sheets smelled, cob webs all over the room, dead flying insects all over the sheets and walls, hair in the bath tub, no towels, and when asked for some I was only given 2 when we are a family of 5, ripped blankets, uncomfortable broken and squeaky springs on beds, sticky floors, dirty pool and jacuzzi unless you want to contract some bacterial infection from the lack of cleanliness, no service to the rooms, dirty beach and if you are planning on having breakfast, make sure you are there before 10am because if you are one minute late, the manager will kick you out, regardless of your age (elderly or child). The only decent person working there was the woman in charge of the breakfast area. She greeted you every morning and asked if you needed anything, even though she was the only overwhelmed person doing all the work, cleaning and cooking and still greeted you with a smile. We desperately need a vacation after all the stress we endured at this hotel. If you see positive comments on here, please disregard because they are lying.

I got a suite. Suppose to be nice. It's disgusting. Two stars is the most I give. No comment. Kitchen lady is the best others disrespectful. Gym has no weight. Roll away is old. Sheets are old as well.

They treat us like royalty every visit! The rooms are great, the staff are kind and welcoming, the view. Oh man it is awesome! I highly recommend Macinaw Beach and Bay.

Hotel desk was super helpful and super nice! The room was wonderful and so was our view! I couldn't of asked for a more beautiful Sunday.

The rooms have fantastic views — it's so close to the lake! I'm not sure if I will stay there again, given the extremely wasteful (Styrofoam and plastic everything! ) breakfast.

The staff was pleasant and helpful. Prices were great… But the curtains and ceiling in bathroom were moldy and the toilet seat was broken amd the tub faucet was leaky. Guess I got what I paid for.

Rooms were clean. Management came to repair the cable TV immediately. The view on the lake side is awesome and of course, you're close to the ferries and the new restaurants downtown Mackinaw City.

Rooms 100 and 101 have not been fixed in the last 5 years. Manager doesn't see what I am talking about water stained ceiling, paint and walls deteriorating on both sides of the handicapped shower and bathtub and the weather strip on room 101 just slides with the door serving no purpose. This place needs a face lift and I don't mean the ugly curtains and comforters in installed this year. One EXCELLENT feature is they do have handicapped rooms that a wheelchair can roll into the shower.

Rooms were clean and large. Excellent view. Staff was friendly and had fresh coffee going all day.

I would definitely stay here again. Rooms are SUPER clean! Staff is friendly and it sits just outside the downtown area. The breakfast is alright, nothing crazy, but it's free. I just love how clean our room was and especially the bathroom. Listening to the waves roll in at night was incredibly relaxing.

Very nice hotel right on the beach. Rooms aren't perfect but seen very clean and have a separate bedroom from the main room. Some minor problems such as out hair dryer not working, one bulb burned out in the living room nothing that was a deal breaker on our minds.

My husband and I spent a few days in Mackinaw City. This hotel was good for the price we paid, would stay again if in the area. A bit dated in decor in lobby and room. Room size was great. Rooms aren't fancy, did have a mini fridge and microwave. Could hear every move, word, cough or flush of your next door neighbor. That was kind of annoying. Loved the view of the beach/lake. Bathroom was clean. Breakfast could of been better. We didn't swim, but pool area looked dated too, not sure I'd allow my kids to swim in it if they were with us. The main reason I gave a 4 is because I didn't think staff was friendly at all. Customer service could have been stepped up a bit and greet your visitors as they walk in the door. Manager acted as if he hated his job and people. Then again, it may be a northern Michigan thing too, because I noticed even in some of the local hotels, shops & restaurants, the native people aren't friendly. If you can look past the lack of hospitality, then really it was a good place to stay!

It was nice, but for the price, Of 400.00 I was expecting a little better, the breakfast was a joke, I it was like a food line ford bread, and the food was terrible. But it was ok… would not stay again unless I payes less…

Rented this room for two nights. Pool and fitness center does not open until 9:30. When I asked about this, I was told the general manager has to be on site. They offered me to go to a fitness center 2 blocks away, totally inconvenient. Breakfast was minimal effort on thier part. Room has a broken security lock, which could be fixed. General manager strict and unpleasant. We will not be returning.

Love staying here (incredible beds! ). But all rooms are a 2 room suite… but no doors to separate them? Eh. Lakeside rooms are awesome though. Nice stretch of beach. Great decks to sit on.

The only good thing about this place is the view. The pool and fitness center are extremely dated. Also, the owner was really rude. We had two beds in the room and we asked for two blankets, he argued with us and only gave us one. He called us 'selfish' and told us to 'go back to the room'. We travel to many hotels and to many cities across the states and have not encountered this type of attitude before. This hotel has a long way to go with regard to customer service.

The absolute best place we stayed all weekend! The view from this place is amazing and the hotel itself is very well kept and up to date! I highly recommend staying here and we will be back to stay again!

Decent place to stay and pretty affordable, all rooms are family suites. Management/Owners could be more hospitable, they were a little rude. The photo is the beach in front if the hotel, they did clean their beachfront daily as some if the neighboring hotels did. Also if you weren't out early you didn't get one if their about 20 beach chairs in a hotel that houses hundreds.

Clean. Quiet. Friendly, helpful staff. Close to the Crossings but just outside enough to be calm. The private patios/balconies are an amazing touch to feel alone when you really aren't. Great beach area. Nighttime beach fire. Nice breakfast buffet. We love this place!

What a great place to stay. We loved everything about our stay. We're from Missouri and it was like a home away from home. If we make it up there again, we'll be calling you up! Nice, clean, comfortable, big room and bed. The lake view and balcony room we had was awesome. Great breakfast and kind, courteous and helpful staff!

The wife and I stayed there this past Saturday and Sunday 7/25/15 and 7/26/15. The hotel was clean and the rooms were large with a balcony facing the lake. In my opinion this hotel has one the best views of the lake and the bridge. John and the rest of the staff were very professional, polite and willing to help when asked. The free breakfast every morning was a plus. We look forward to visiting again soon! Thank you for the pleasant stay!

Stay somewhere else. The experience at this hotel was terrible. I have been a guest at many hotels for both business and pleasure, and have never been treated as I was at this hotel. After a long week of being on the road for business, I met up with my mother and nieces for a great weekend getaway. Was looking forward to getting into the hotel and having a fun girls' weekend. As soon as we walked in, the Manager was rude and condescending to my mother and myself. For health reasons, we started to ask for a couple of special requests — all of which we would have been willing to pay for — he cut us off and treated us as if we were out of line for even questioning him. Of course, I found this all offensive. I do not mind being told services are not available or that special requests cannot be accommodated, but the way this Manager treated us was uncalled for under any circumstances — let alone in a hospitality industry. When asked for his name and title, he refused to tell us anything other than he was the GM. The Manager is severely lacking in customer service skills! If he was not at this hotel, then I might be able to recommend it — unfortunately for owners, I cannot. While the place is worn and a little "thread bear" in places, it was generally clean and acceptable. However, the bathroom area had a drop ceiling. Directly over the shower head was a hole. The hole was stuffed with toilet paper. This was less than comforting as a client and a little creepy.

I love this hotel. The minute I walked into the door I was greeted by a friendly staff, in a beautifully appointed lobby. The rooms are very nice, the locations is excellent near everything I needed, and the views are fantastic. The staff cared about me, and did everything they could to make my stay a great one. I would, and will return over and over again.

If he was not at this hotel then I would be able to highly recommend it — unfortunately for the owner this is not the case. I stayed at this hotel 2 times in as many months for a work conference. Our conferences will no longer be held at this hotel due to the lack of professionalism and accommodations of the manager. I would save yourself the headache and confrontation from this manager and STAY somewhere else.

Horrible customer service. Cannot accommodate guests at all. Took one waffle for the kids because they were asleep and owner was very rude about it. Yelled that we could not take food up to the room. What kind of owner gets heated with a customer? He was extremely disrespectful. QUALITY is very cheap — coffee is disgusting and food is horrible (eggs are greasy, bagels are old). Also, called multiple times at night for more pillows and blankets and no one answered at the front desk. Unbelievable. Where other hotels have 24 hr customer service, these people apparently don't offer that after 11p. The beach front has very little sand and mostly grass mud towards the water. Never again will I book at this hotel and I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. Bad customer service will never gain my business.
