Checked in and was not told the hotel had been without hot water for four days prior. Had to take a cold shower the first night with plans to move. The next morning the water was ok so we stayed. That night it was cold again. Guy at front desk blamed it on management. This hotel sucks big time. Do not was your money.

Would like to personally thank Tommy Nguyen, working front desk this morning as my two sons and I checked into room, was there about 30 minutes and one of my sons began to get sick. We checked out and Tommy was so accommodating and attentive! Truly appreciate your kindness!

Clean, refurbished, polite friendly and attentive staff — and the attached parking garage was nice to go from room to elevator to vehicle.

I rather stay Residence Inn then Embassy Suites for half the cost. The room is a little many apt with everything you. I love that it has cooled wear glasses & plates. Nice specious bed.

Who ever decided to put the entrance to the hotel on a one way side street with no real parking and railroad tracks running in front of it should be fired. Your address is on Water Street so your entrance should be on Water Street. Stay at the Hampton Inn. It is much more convenient.

One of the best Residential experiences at a hotel! Great space, cozy decor, spacious kitchen and pretty decent breakfast! The view is an added bonus, right by the river, in the heart of the downtown area and literally a short walk away from the best dining and nightlife that Des Moine has to offer.

This is my hotel of choice when I stay downtown for business. I like having the kitchen amenities if only to heat up leftovers from the nearby restaurants. The complimentary happy hour and also breakfast help save on expenses. Staff are always ready and able to help. Room is always clean. Adjacent parking ramp is handy. Great location to run out for a bite or have Grub Hub deliver. Comfy beds and furnishings.

The Front desk manager and I were discussing the fact that my husband had found BBQ chips at a Hy Vee on our way there. He loved them however could not find them at the Des Moines locations. The following evening as we sat outside he delivered 4 bags to him and refused money to compensate. 5 STARS for Rusty and the whole crew.

Didn't stay long. Bathrooms and entry were very nice. Can't speak to room quality. Location is excellent.

The staff was absolutely great. Ask for Rusty he's awesome. The rooms look like mini fancy penthouses. So I have no qualms.

Wonderful stay! Our king studio was clean and modern, comfortable bed and well equipped full kitchen. Beautiful bathroom with walk in shower. We brought our kids and they loved it. Breakfast was very good and had plenty of options. (** Side note: $15 to park in the garage and $5 for upgraded Wi-Fi. ) This was a great option for a good night's sleep along our route.

My arrival was pretty rocky. They didn't have a room for me even though I'd booked out months earlier. They sent me next door and gave me a bottle of wine, it was just a hassle since I was traveling with a baby. They then comped my parking too. Since we finally got in, it's been pretty great. Breakfast staff is really friendly, room is clean and comfortable.

My family and I had a great experience at the Residence Inn in Des Moines! Excellent location, great breakfast, and very accommodating staff for my family and I. Would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay! Only stayed one night and wished it was more. Had a full kitchenette, large living area and desk, great bed, large closet and bathroom and wonderful staff! We parked on the street due to no charges for the holiday and the car was very close to the hotel and safe, otherwise $15 for hotel garage. The entrance is slightly awkward, but once you are in, it's worth it!

Didn't stay at the hotel, just picked up friends who were staying there. But the outdoor amenities were wonderful! Basketball Court, patio seating, bistro lighting, and landscaping were all lovely.

The rooms at the Residence Inn are quite comfortable. They're clearly designed for long-stay. The room I was in had a kitchenette sitting room and the sleeping room was clearly separated from the sitting room although not with a wall. The free breakfast had eggs sausage fruit and several other options. It was very near a restaurant called Buzzard Billy's which I quite enjoyed.

This is a nice hotel with good amenities, but our entire 4 day stay their air was broken. Rooms were between 80-86 degrees and miserable stale air. It was so uncomfortable you couldn't sleep or rest. We asked for a fan and the only thing they did was bring us bottled water. Definitely would never stay here again. Here for business and just extremely tired because it's so hot your couldn't get any sleep.

Nice clean hotel with a great breakfast area. Staff was freindly and accommodating. Indoor parking on the attached structure and lots of good restaurants nearby.

The staff was amazing and the room we had was so awesome me and my girlfriend will definitely be staying there every time we go thru Iowa. Oh and there breakfast hands down best in town when it comes to a hotel breakfast.

The room was clean, contemporary, and spacious. Hotel provided an evening happy hour with drinks and snacks. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We had many issues with our room and they were never super helpful. We tried cooking dinner in the oven and all the fire alarms went off in the room for 3 hours because the people previously in there had pizza on the bottom we didn't see. Our door was broken to the master suite. There was a beeping coming from the utility closet next to our room and we we're told it won't stop beeping til they fix it, that was literally it. And our key cards kept not working and we had to constantly get more. ***Recent update: The manager of the hotel chain, Stephen Waugh, emailed me to apologize for our stay. That is all that was said in his email was that he was sorry that all of these things happened to us during out stay. Even at that point they have done nothing to rectify the situation. People, DO NOT STAY HERE! They do not care if you are treated poorly and still expect you to pay full price if they do a terrible job!

Easily the best reasonably priced hotel in Des Moines. The rooms are large, clean, and well-appointed. The staff is always helpful and friendly.

Stayed 11 nights at this location. Staff was friendly but need a little more training. Most of the time two at the desk. If the train was not present, this would have been an excellent stay! Jacuzzi could have been warmer. Facility is newer about 6 months since they opened and the new floor plan I really enjoy as it is still a suite but more compact. Many freebies and a budget oriented hotel such as the evening socials and breakfast. But everyone must be aware of this as the train will make sure you take notice. After a week I was grinding my teeth whenever I heard the $%^&* horn off in the distance. I don’t know how anybody could say they didn’t notice. The bad is that the first week I called and was told my wake up was set, however they missed 3 wake up calls in a row. I usually called around 1830-1930 and several times nobody answered, these wake ups are a backup to my cell phone. After I moved rooms they all, like magic, worked. I wondered if it was because they finally had seen I was an elite member? They allow basketball until 11PM which you can hear in room 216, the bouncing ball and shouting. The train was everyday of the week between the hours of 8PM — 11PM. Saturday night was around 1AM, along with the downtown drunks. This is not the hotels fault, but when I am laying in bed and it shakes from it and the constant horn blowing for its slow speed through town (around 15-30minutes). So who would put a hotel next to a train track? Just a thought.

I have stayed over 700 nights in hotels for work throughout my career. Honestly, I gotta say that the staff has been the most proactively attentive I have ever experienced. Hotel is very clean too.

My dumb ass got stuck on the sofa bed and it was a ctually super comfortable. Clean, modern, and great location. Breakfast was pretty good too.

Met clients for dunks in the lobby. Happy hour was in effect and everyone was enjoying drinks and snacks Atmosphere was lively and fun. Had a fire pit going outside, which helped take the nip out of the air on a chilly night.

Hotel literally shakes from the train tracks 15 foot outside the building entrance. Impossible to get a good night's sleep. Avoid!

Very nice Residence Inn. Good desk staff. Great location next to restaurants and shopping, yet situated at the back of Greenway Station, so nice and quiet. Downside, our family was staying there for the weekend and hoped to grill and use the patio area. Had to move to a dark, small area in back as the main patio and entrance was filled with smokers! They need to have a different, designated smoking area. Unfortunately you have to pass right by this area to unload and check in. We know Dane County has strict no smoking ordinances. We expected better. The smoking wasn't an isolated incident; it was the entire three day weekend.

Not a good stay, housekeeping was horrible, room rate was not even close to what I booked. Will never stay here again and I'll be back to Des Moines frequently for business.

This place was amazing all around! The room was fantastic and the staff were friendly polite and very down to earth! I would recommend this hotel before any other!

Excellent location that was clean and safe. Rooms are modern and large. Staff friendly. Wanted to give it 5 stars but could not due to early morning train horn noise and the breakfast was light on options.

The address Google lists for this hotel is 100 SW Water Street, which actually goes to a back door that is poorly marked as Hampton Inn & Suites. This was extremely confusing as a visitor, and after driving around the block several times, I finally parked in the garage, which spit out a ticket with both Hampton Inn & Suites AND Residence Inn by Mariott. It's fine to have two names, but making the lobby entrance the address listed online would be much more helpful.

Very nice rooms, friendly service. Great location, you need to check out El Bait shop across the street for a great selection of food and beer.

Awesome hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Clean, spacious rooms and modern décor. Each time I've been there I received great service. Impeccable and I know I will be back!

Nice property and location. I enjoy staying here when in town for work. The air conditioning in rooms was having issues, and maintenance was not available to fix the problem. Our air conditioning was a little warmer than desired on a hot, 92 degree day.

The suites are amazing. The staff is excellent and very friendly. They know the best places to go downtown. The pool, gym, and happy hour are all icing on the cake.

Nice room and breakfast. Front desk staff is ridiculously lazy and unhelpful. 1) My handicapped elderly mother was left in the parking gsrage stairwell because they would not let us use the elevator until we checked in through the front door even after explaining she needs the elevator. So if you are handicapped, do not park in the designated parking garage but park on the street first and then move to their garage. 2) One of our rooms in a large group was checked out a day earlier than the rest. They left something so we asked the front desk to check lost and found. We were told she couldn't help us because the housekeeping manager was off today and the rest of the staff speaks Spanish only so cannot ask. I asked if she or we could look ourselves in lost and found. We were told no. My husband went to housekeeping and found she spoke English and had it right inside the office. 3) We went to get something from the market and it was bare so it appears this is not replenished until a guest asks for something 4) The pool was out of service although this was not posted. It took 30 minutes to get into the alternative when told just walk in the hotel next door and your key will get you in. This means you have to find someone to let you in after talking to multiple people.

The room was very clean and comfortable but two things I would like yo mentio. It was It supposed to be a handicapped room but bathroom sink did not have an exposed area for wheel chair and the shower had this tiny seat you were suppose to sit on. The other item was the $15 parking fee for the garage. We're we're not informed when we checked in there would be a charge which grated me but the fee was much cheaper than downtown Chicago!

This place has some of the most rude and inconsiderate staff I ever encountered. I do a lot of worldwide traveling for my business affairs. If you're looking for a horrible nights sleep this is your place to be. Where the nightmares are complimentary. For me I will stick with the Hiltons. These morons at marriott judge you off of your appearance. Sweat pants and a tank top send you out the door qualifications. You shouldn't have to prove your worthiness as a guest. I body build for a hobby so my attire isn't appropriate for you? Ha Well excuse me I don't wear suits and formal wear all day long. So next time think before you decide to interrogate me with one of your pig headed security officials. You must be out your minds. I will not be back here. I be super 8in it next time.

The hotel is nice, newly renovated. However, I had issues with the fixtures in my room. The hinges to my bathroom door were broken and the door was resting on the ground.

Not a review, more or less a warning to those seeking a place to find a room: Construction is in heavy duty directly across from the hotel, the workers work as early as 6am (this is against the noise ordinance but they repeatedly violate these codes), and occurs Mon-Sat. Metal plates have been placed on the road and will increase the noise you may experience. If you, like me, are a light sleeper, attempt getting a room at a different location. The construction is excruciating. I can't remember the last time I got to sleep in on a Saturday.

Rooms were beautifully renovated with a hot breakfast andand dinner that's actually worth eating. And, free beer and wine happy hour. Can't beat it.

Absolutely one of the best hotels I've stayed at. The room was clean, staff friendly, outdoor firepit, basketball court, putting green etc. They provide breakfast and happy hour treats, food, and drinks. I would recommend staying here.

Service was great! Our room was wonderful with a lot of room to relax and spend time with our family. We'll come back here next time we're in Des Moines.

The only complaint is we were in a handicap room and no one could figure out the electric blinds. The front desk could not figure it out either. Otherwise, it was great!

Pool was cold! In Des Moines for a dance competition, we chose this hotel because of the pool area (which is smaller than it looks online). The pool was very cold, when maintenance came to take the temp, it was only 76 degrees! Most indoor pools are at least 82. The people were generally nice but didn't fix it. I was stuck there for two days with my two younger kids while my wife and older daughter were at the competition. Kids could only make it about ten minutes at a time in the pool before they had to warm up in the luke-warm "hot tub". The room was fine but very disappointed in the stay overall.

We travel to Des Moines often and stayed there several times. We have never been disappointed.

1st night the train outside my window woke me up at 300am next night routy people in the room next door were partying till 12am had to call front desk. Not productive for business.

Great place. It is fairly new and is pretty clean and modern. Every afternoon they have a social hour where they have free beer + food. Only drawback is that it isn't connected to the skywalks. You'll have to walk a couple of blocks the rain/snow in winter to get to a skywalk.

Stayed here last week while in Des Moines for a job interview. Location was good and the rooms were very clean. Some of the staff were not real smiley but also not rude. Good value.

Fire alarm went off at 10 PM for no apparent reason. Staff couldn't turn it off and didn't come up to try UNTIL 1:00 AM when we and two kids were asleep. A phone call and unsolicited knock on the door in the middle of the night is not my idea of a relaxing night away from home.
