By far the BEST hotel I have ever stayed in! We came to town for the night so I could see a concert on my birthday, Spisha did EVERYTHING she possibly could to make my day special when she saw it was my birthday! I have stayed at many many hotels from Florida to Boston and by this stay alone Marriott has won my loyalty! Spisha went ABOVE and beyond to make me feel welcomed and special! I can’t wait to come back to town!

We suffered from the storm and came here till we had power again. The staff is amazing and very helpful. Made us feel right at home. And when I got lost I called them and a nice lady helped me find the hotel. She stayed on the phone with me and told me where to turn till I pulled into the hotel! I would most definitely recommend coming with your family.

Last week my family gathered at the downtown Marriott in Des Moines for Thanksgiving dinner. There were 30 of us and a few were still not able to come! Marriott did a wonderful job with the buffet. I usually don’t eat traditional thanksgiving food, but the turkey, stuffing and veggies were wonderful! I’ve never tasted such moist turkey! The pumpkin pie was heaven! A big thank you to the kitchen staff and wait for the awesome job. We greatly appreciated the fact that our large family could gather in one place to celebrate and no one had to stress to clean house or cook! Happy holidays to all!

Great Thanksgiving day experience! The buffet was wonderful and also spent time in the beautifully decorated lobby hanging out with family! valet parking was free on Thanksgiving and the guys were super polite! This might have to be a new family tradition!

Had a room on the 23rd floor that was recently remodeled. Had a very clean, industrial feel to it. I also really liked how I could watch Hulu on the hotel TV. Staff was really friendly. Would recommend staying here if you're in Des Moines!

The staff of the Marriott were all extremely friendly, the nicest people on the vacation yet. The food was delicious and reasonably priced as well as the bar drinks. The room was clean and beautiful with plenty of upgrades. If I ever find myself in Des Moines, I'll know where to stay.

I just want to start it by saying I have never given a review in my life, but this place has had such terrible service it’s unbelievable. Me and my wife are here for a work meeting with 200 plus people. So to start out we showed up and our air conditioning was out … not a big deal they got us a new room right away and gave us two free drinks at the bar. Upon expecting the second room we found a belt and chap stick and a few other items from the previous person. My other coworker found dirty boxers in his room! We had lunch on Thursday for our meeting and the food was cold and we all had to wait for them to bring more food out to us and to top that off I believe a 3 year old could of cooked a better lunch than this place prepared. For supper they served steak which was by far the worst steak I have ever had in my life. And for breakfast they ran out of everything and had over thirty people waiting in line for the buffet. I promise you I am not one to give reviews but this place is the worst managed hotel I have ever stayed at. If you plan on having a work meeting please look else where these guys don’t know what the hell they are doing.

Stayed for a whole week for our kids competing in AUU Jr Olympic games. I have to say our best team stay ever! staff was great they did special requests for us all week. Mike at the bell desk was the best with all our needs. Maria at the front desk was very helpful. Very friendly staff all around. Food was great. Recommend. Beds are great! 5 stars for sure.

Kicking people out in the middle of the night is just wrong. You need to catch up with the times or fall behind like the dinosaur you're becoming. I travel for a living and stay at Marriotts as often as I can, up until today you were my Prime go to. Im at the courtyard marriott in providence typing this right now. Checking out and going over to the Westin. Time to find a host that actually appreciates its guests.

We booked as part of a reserved wedding block and were told we couldn't check in early before the ceremony. When we returned after the reception around 10pm, we were told that they overbooked and they didn't have a room for us. They tried to put us up at another hotel 5 miles away from all of our friends we flew into town to see, so we had to sleep in the bridal suite. Not exactly convenient for the newlyweds or us! We got a Marriott gift card, but it was really uncomfortable and annoying. They seriously messed up because there was another wedding party that came in after us and they didn't have room for ANY of them. We did get some good room service the next day, and got to catch up with our friends since we were on the Murphy bed in their suite.

I cannot stress enough what a great experience I had at this hotel. Was here for business and used two of the conference rooms. There was not one single issue that came up that was not resolved immediately and with a huge sincere smile. Devon was fabulous, helped at every turn. Great restaurants are nearby also. Will definitely return… What a fabulous city you have.

The location is perfect for us in attending the Iowa Events Center, with the convenience of Marriott delivering us to and from the conference whenever we called. Our room was appointed very nicely with comfortable mattresses and covers and exceptional comfort. We enjoyed Marriott Bar and Grill for our evening meals — always prepared excellently with prices being very acceptable.

In the city center, the location is good. During the renovation, the reception hall was changed to the 2 floor, a bit messy, and the room had a dusty feel. Service and overall cleanliness is good!

A hotel too elegant, polite, helpful and comodo.

Came here for a conference and while the hotel is nice, the construction was a surprise and certainly an inconvenience. A simple notification to guests with reservations ahead of time to prepare ourselves would have been very beneficial. Perhaps even notification during registration, a notification via the app or email… something would have helped significantly.

The rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The parking garage is attached to the hotel which is very convenient.

I stayed up on the 17th floor. Room was very clean and cozy. Slept like a baby. Lobby has some cool lights and a fountain if you are into that. Elevator totally zips bro. So prepare to feel like you are launching out of orbit. Overall this hotel spanks! 10/10 ✋

Food was horrible… I went to many 5 star properties but there food was horrible. Service was good. Just I am upset with food I found plastic on my food. Marriott burger was uncooked and when I went for the breakfast the chef attitude was not good at all he is very bad with me never gonna come back again in my life… the chef with black chef coart using slang language with there co workers infront of me. Strange bad experience… no more Marriott.

They offer valet if you want to pay an arm and a leg but if you don't you'll be driving so over the place to find a parking spot if it's the weekend or after work hours. It's best to just pay the like ten bucks to stay in a parking ramp and take the skywalk over. They put in good social events here though. We were here for the St Patrick's day party and the beer was plentiful.

Great place to stay. Friendly staff and good food. Located in the heart of downtown Des Moines. Minutes from a heap of great places to enjoy food and drink with friends.

Our stay was very nice at this hotel. The staff was super easy to work with on our business trip. I'd definitely return for business. The meeting space was just perfect for our group. Hotel rooms were clean and spacious. The Starbucks and hotel bars were nice to have inside the hotel!

This does not even deserve one star. My husband and I prepaid with points to stay here the night of our wedding. When we showed up still in a dress and suit they told us they had complications with our room. They told us they were paying for us to stay at the Hyatt instead and would refund our points. We were a little annoyed but still on cloud nine as newlyweds and went over to the Hyatt. When we got to the Hyatt, they told us they knew some rooms had been moved over to them, but that they didn’t actually have a reservation for us. Basically, here we are in our wedding clothing after midnight on our wedding night at hotel and still don’t have a place to stay. After 45 minutes of back and forth calls and looking for our reservation we were told we simply didn’t have a room even though we had paid ahead of time. My husband’s whole family was visiting and staying in our place so we ended up staying with friends in their hotel room ON OUR WEDDING NIGHT. After this whole ordeal we tried to get our points back since we were never given a room and still have not been refunded. Both hotels blame each other and have done nothing to make this right. I will never stay at either hotel again, but I most specifically blame Marriott since they are the ones we booked with in the beginning and still have our points.

We have always loved staying at any Marriott hotel. However this stay knocked down the star count. First, our room was entered by hotel staff even though we had the do not disturb sign covering the keycard scanner. Second, there was remodeling going on a floor above ours so when we checked in we were informed of this but was promised that they contractors wouldn't start until 10am on Sunday morning… 0655am and all we heard was hammering and concrete drills. Lastly when we arrived we were not allowed to park in the underground parking garage even though it was not full and were forced into the valet parking line… $35 later for a one night stay we left.

The Marriott was a pleasure to work with for our cocktail hour and wedding reception. Rebecca is the event coordinator we worked with and she was always responsive to my e-mails and questions. The food was spectacular and they did a great job with all of the décor. Between my florist and the Marriott, they handled making the place beautiful. I was able to send various decorative items along with a note / picture of how I wanted them used, and they handled everything from there. It was also very affordable considering there is no rental fee and linens and some table settings are included. I would recommend the Marriott to anyone looking for a ballroom reception and not interested in hiring a wedding planner. Rebecca is great to work with and really takes care of it all for you!

Went for a job interview. The valet service was very friendly and took great care of my car. They had a very clear and clean driveway. The hotel itself was well kept and had friendly and helpful service associates. I did not stay so I am unsure what the rooms are like, but I do know that in my previous stays at Marriott hotels I've really enjoyed how clean the rooms are and how comfortable the beds are.

Service was nice. Server was nice and fast. We had the buffet breakfast that usually has a omelette station, bit this time they did not due to staffing so we ordered an omelette through the kitchen. We waited at least 10 minutes if not more when there was only other 2 tables. And when the omelettes came they were cold and not very tasty.

Street parking is a bit challenging/limited. The staff are warm and attentive; directing us where to meet our party for an event and then offering to serve food as my partner and I had arrived late. Food was good. Service was awesome! I can't speak to the quality of the rooms.

Visited Marriott Downtown twice this year for two events. One was a 3 day conference and the other for a corporate dinner. Both times it was a pleasure to visit the Marriott. The location is always clean and we'll maintained and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The food was good and the amenities are great. I do wish the restaurant could have been open more, but it's understandable with the lack of business to have it open more. Overall all my experiences at the Marriott have been very enjoyable.

Great hotel! Staff were very friendly and eager to help with anything. Room accommodations were good, beds were comfortable. Pool and spa were a bit small. The breakfast bar was delicious. The hotel has skyway access which makes for easy travel downtown.

I was in town for a conference at the Iowa events center which is only about a half mile away. Even though the sky walks were under construction, the hotel had a shuttle that operated off of tips that you could use. The room was clean and fairly quiet except for slamming doors. Pool and fitness area also well maintained. I did not done at the restaurant.

The staff was for the most part great and very helpful. I do have a few complaints though. Breakfast was horrible. The first FOUR pieces of bread I tried to grab to make some toast had MOLD all over them, the fruit was visibly rotten and everything tasted as if it was just warmed up and reused day after day. It was absolutely disgusting. My second complaint. We paid $24 for Valet parking only to have to wait almost 30 mins to get our car the following morning. Had we not needed to be somewhere by 10am it probably would not have been that big of an inconvenience. There was only one guy parking and bringing cars up from the garage so I felt bad for him as his supervisor should have scheduled more help so he would not have been alone! I personally would not recommend this hotel and would not stay there again.

Overall stay was decent. Breakfast buffet was okay. Valet was nice, front desk was nice. Nothing said about our anniversary. Asked for extra pillows and towels on the reservation, but didn't receive any. Long wait for AYS to pick up their phone one time.

Marriott Downtown is now one of my favorite places to stop. I stopped by a couple of weeks ago and was greeted by an old connection of mine from Iowa State who was working at the Front Desk, his name is Jonathan, and was greeted cordially and professionally to my corner king room. Everything was very proper and I enjoyed every minute of it with my wife. I honestly recommend this place to anyone and this is definitely somewhere I look forward to returning to see the friendly faces and reconnect.

Pretty nice. Parking is limited to street meters, valet or a parking garage. Breakfast buffet was relatively inexpensive at $15, with an omelet bar, fresh fruit cereal, assorted pastries, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy… Did not visit the pool, but it has one. The king bed was comfortable with great pillows. The room and bathroom was spacious. The desk had a powerstrip with plenty of ports for electrics. The only gripe with the room was the lack of power outlet on one side of the bed. And the ladies restroom in the lobby needed attention.

Upon entering, I was greeted by a very cordial staff, whom directed me to the ceremony I was attending. The area I was in was set up very nicely. There was plenty of room to move between the tables and converse with other people. The sound system worked very well, which was important, as we were listening to speeches. The only downside to my visit, were the appetizers served. Very blah. Do not know if they were catered in or provided by the hotel. In all, I would highly recommend the Des Moines Downtown Marriott to others whom are looking for an upscale locale to host an event.

Hotel was great nice rooms and comfortable beds, walking distance for lots of night life only 4 blocks away. Only drawback was parking — we oppted for valet and they tried putting on our jacked up Jeep in garage and messed up our light bar and roof rack. Hello if you have to jump to get into a vehicle it probably won't fit in a 6 foot 5 inch clearance garage!

Wow! It's simply beautiful! We appreciated the valet service with on-site parking. Our rooms were excellently appointed — tastefully decorated. I would recommend this hotel highly.

You were beyond helpful leading up to the weekend and your staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We appreciated all of the amenities. The hotel is beautiful and of high quality. I had a hard time communicating with customer service when booking under a wedding block and was told at first it didn't exist. Then, even though I requested 2 beds for more space for our family, when we arrived we were told there were no more available and had to squeeze all of us in one bed.

Beautiful hotel. Love the pool and hot tub, it is indoors. The rooms are huge and clean. Friendly staff, and great little shop downstairs with Starbucks and everything else you may have forgotten from travel. A nice little bar downstairs too, with local beers for tourists to sample.

Absolutely one of the best stays! From the front desk, Bell Hops, maid service, and the restaurant staff, everybody was very accommodating to whatever we needed!
Thanks for the Shuttle service to and from the concert, and the the extra shuttle to Fong's pizza.

Very nice hotel for conferences. The lobby has a very nice bar/lounge area that serves pretty tasty food. Located in the heart of downtown. I highly recommend this place to host an event.

Checked in Mar. 5. Stay was 2 nights. The room was nice. We were there for the Iowa deer classic. We walked by a restaurant in the motel on our way to the classic the 1st night thinking we could eat there on the way back to our room. We got there to discover it was closed. So we ordered room service. Went to bed and we were woken by a very loud and obnoxious drunk man pounding. On our neighbors door. We listened to everything for a good hour then it stopped. Next day never did find a place to eat in the hotel. Not in a brochure nor were there any signs. The 2nd night our neighbors started about 9:00, slamming the door (at least 50 times), banging on the wall, talking, yelling, cussing, people in and out till about 3:30 in the morning. I heard kids voices and about 10 or more adult voices. I know they were all drinking heavily. Not a lot impression on the kids. They apparently have no regard for the paying customers in the hotel that were there trying to sleep. I wanted to call &complain, but hubby said no. So after only about 3hrs. Of sleep we had a 6hr. Drive home. I know we were not the only people who heard those idiots all night. You'd have to be dead not to. Very disappointed. I'm pretty sure I saw security guards on duty. Where were they?

Clean, well appointed rooms. Staff was prompt and helpful, going the extra mile. Staff was great in arranging a shuttle for a group activity. I inquired at the desk as to where I could purchase a highlighter for some work documents. The gentleman at the desk offered me his marker from the desk! In-room coffee supply was depleted initially, but was fully stocked after cleaning the next morning.

The service we received as part of the Academy of Trial Lawyers was superb. The staff was exceptionally professional and attentive. All set-up was exactly as planned, and all requests were handled immediately and with zero hassle.

This hotel is amazing. After driving 5 hours to get there for my son's college visit to Drake University we pulled up and the valet attendant noticed our car door wash smashed and asked how our drive was and we explained we were just in a 30 car pile up on I80 2 hours from there and the attendant was amazed at what we described. As we checked in the front desk was alert to our ordeal and told us they would like to buy us dinner. We were so Thankful because we really didn't want to go anywhere after our day. We had a exceptional dinner with great service. We were expecting to pay for our drinks but was surprised when we were told everything was taken care of. This was the perfect start to our stay. The room was clean and had a nice view of the city with comfortable beds. The pool and hot tub was a perfect place for us to relax with our 2 teenagers that was with us. The staff made a unforgettable trip much more relaxing than we could of imaged after our trip there. Thank you for brightening our day. This will be the only hotel we will stay at when we come back to Des Moines.

Went there for the Rubio speech after the Caucases. Everything was clean and looked luxurious.

Our stay at the Des Moines Marriott was great! Friendly service, and clean and comfy rooms. Only complaints are that the water pressure in the shower was very low, and that there was no complimentary breakfast. Other than that, it was a great stay!

Location was absolutely perfect for downtown activities. A free shuttle was available to drive us to and from events and bars. Parking was free on weekends. Rooms were clean and beds were fine. Would recommend this hotel.

It's a good hotel. I won't quite say great (the rooms are a little smaller, especially the bathrooms) I would also say that their hot tub could stand to have better jets. Great gym though. Overall a good experience.

Decent room. Only good area with free Wi-Fi is the lobby. The paid Wi-Fi in the rooms, including the premium Wi-Fi, is pathetic. I could barely load Google's home page within 3 minutes. Not a good place to stay if you need Wi-Fi.

Arrived at the hotel at 10 pm on a Friday night to check in. Valet was full, so we parked in a parking garage across the street, and walked nearly 10 mins through the skywalk to the hotel. The man in front of me in line at check in was mad that his king size bed room reservation was over booked and they wanted to offer him a double bed room. He was not happy. I waited, and then when it was my turn to check in, the same thing, over booked. They offered a room that had a Murphy bed that pulled down from the wall as an upgrade!? I questioned the staff about selling me a king size bed and not having one available, and she told me that this was the busiest night she's ever seen at the hotel. Which I have a feeling that every weekend night is like this. During the check in, the lady left for 10 mins and returned with a manager. He said nothing to me, he just started typing at the computer like an airline employee does when a flight is canceled. After about 3-4 mins of typing, he looks up at me and says, "we are going to give you a double bed room for free, no taxes, and we'll give you free breakfast. " The room was clean, the beds were small and the mattresses feel like a nice air mattress. I'd never come back. Happy birthday to me. Thanks Marriott for the free room, but it's not enough to for me to say anything nice at all.

Very convenient location. I was here for business and the room was nothing shy of perfect. Good Wi-Fi and nice breakfast. Overall, would recommend this place to other business travelers.

I loved my stay there the staff was wonderful, the room service was great, the workers for room service needs a raise, or they need promoted. The person who did most of my room service had short black hair and had ear piercings. She needs a raise.

The hotel was nice but very overpriced for Des Moines. Not worth the extra it cost me. They charge for parking! Also my rate was supposed to include breakfast, but I had to go down to the desk 3 times before the bill was right and didn't include charges for breakfast. I was in town during Junior Olympics and this was the only hotel with rooms available, probably because it was very expensive. My internet was not the best either — I had some problems with dropping the connection and slowness. Also, the hotel is a bit farther away from the restaurants than I would have liked so that I could walk to and from in the evenings. A lot of the buildings around the hotel are vacant.

Very dissappointed in this hotel. We recently stayed here for our daughter's wedding. We blocked rooms and suites over a year in advance, yet 3 weeks before the wedding we were told they had contracted with another event for the same time frame and had guaranteed the other event all of the hotel's double rooms; which meant our party could not be guaranteed doubles — but they would gladly provide as many cots as we needed. Three days before the wedding they contacted us to let us know that enough double rooms had become available for our guests. This was great news but in the mean time it put a lot of undue stress on a bride and her family. On top of that, when guests arrived they didn't verify first names or room types. Therefore guests were assigned the incorrect room types (king rooms instead of suites). By the time our guests found out the room was not the correct type the charges for that room were already applied to their credit cards and could not be reversed until the following Monday when the banks were open. When they were actually given their correct rooms (2.5 hours later) the charges for that room were also charged to their credit cards. Sure hope the hotel covers any overage fees the guests had because of the hotel's error. When my husband came to pick our daughter up in her wedding gown he was told he could not wait in the valet parking area for her but that he would have to park on the street.

Best place to stay in DSM. Have stayed here several times. Only complaint, on my last visit is took 30 min to get our bags carried up to our room, when we could have walked them up our selves. Other than that no complaints.

We had a wonderful experience during our stay over the weekend at the Marriott due in large part to the fantastic staff. We were greeted by Spencer, the valet. He was pleasant and answered all of my husbands questions. We then met Kyle at the front desk. Kyle too was pleasant and very accommodating, drawing a map and giving us directions to some interesting and fun places. Before we left for dinner we had a drink at the bar. Nicholas, the bartender was interesting, kind and considerate, going so far as to walk us to the door and send us on our way. Thanks, Marriott for an enjoyable weekend with a wonderful staff. We will be back.

I Loved My View All Though Wasn't Very Happy With How Small The Bathrooms Were I Was Hoping For A Jet Bathtub At Least With The Money I Spent Lol And The Hot tub Wasn't Really That Hot I Mean It's Suppose To Be A Hot Tub Right? It's Ok Tho My Husand Really Liked It Tho I Was Hoping The Pool Was Gonna Be Exciting Too It Was Just Small And Boring How Ever I Did Like The Temp In The Pool Wasn't To Bad The Only Thing I Really Liked Was The View And The Beds Looked Really Pretty Other Then That Eh. But I'm A Very Picky Person Tho My Husband On The Other Hand Loved It But Yes I've Been In Nicer Ones For A Lot Cheaper Lets Just Say That Not Trying To Put The Place Down Just Giving My Opinion.
