Reviews of Rodeway Inn 2*
Pretty quit and I haven't had to complain.
Every thing old … Weed Smell from hallway and room. Carpet it’s too old, poor breakfast. Pool in motel but light is off. People are screaming in hallway feel bed unsafe. Guys drinking back parking lot and screaming at 2 am. Poor Wi-Fi. People sleeping in hallway and talking on phone. Worst to stay here. Never come back again.
Nice clean and comfy rooms, slightly dated decor great for the price, fairly basic selection on the breakfast but was well stocked. Nice older independent hotel to stay at, would definitely stay there again next time I pass through.
Staff very friendly. Cool motel. Big rooms. Great price. Indoor pool!
I see all these photos of clean and nice rooms… They gave be a dirty scummy old room, with an unsafe broken window that looked priorly broken into, the room next to ours let their kids yell until 2am while they obviously smoked weed based on the smell. The blanket on the bed had big red what looked to be blood stains on them… I have pictures to prove all of these horrendous accommodations. How come I have to pay the same price as everyone else for less than par dirty living conditions?!
I have been here for 5 weeks and I love it. I see a lot of reviews saying how old and outdated it is. They’re in the process of fixing things up. Since I’ve been here they’ve done the carpet, the rooms, the front area. I’ve read many reviews of hotels in Rockford before I stayed here and this hotel had ZERO reviews about bed bugs or bad things happening here. It’s on E state so everything is literally a few miles away. The staff is nice. Maria is the best. It’s quiet, no loud noise, no complaints.
I enjoyed the place. The workers where friendly. When there they were working on some of the rooms to fix up. I talked to who I think was the owner and he said they are trying to fix it up. I would go back there.
Came here with my family for a bmx national. Hotel was okay, out dated and kinda had a smell to the room. It was clean though and staff very friendly. Decent pool but the levels so high it was burning our eyes without even being in the pool. Sketchy part of town it looked like,. People hanging outside in the parking lots till midnight or better.
They advertise an "arcade", but every game is labeled "out of order". The couch had holes cut in it. The parking lot was full of potholes. I don't expect a 5 star resort at this price point, but after how unfriendly the staff was, it just made all of the little things stand out more.
I've been going to this place for the past 8 years once one week a year when I go to preach cuz it's right down the street from the church on man. The accommodations of always been the same nothing spectacular clean yes but old outdated antiquated but comfortable that's why I gave it to 3. The breakfast not so much not very good okay. All in all it's decent today decent price for the area but I'm sure if you don't like small rooms and you might want to try somewhere else. But the people running it the lady behind the counter people cleaning the place very friendly very nice and very helpful that's the reason I keep going back.
I don't really know where to start here. It wasn't terrible. Though you could tell it probably was for a while. And before that it was probably amazing. For the price of a regular king bed room in some other places we got a king bed, kitchenette, full sized stove, full sized refrigerator, microwave, couch/living area, and a fairly good sized bathroom with makeup counter just outside. It wasn't dirty, not visibly anyway. One of the most irritating things was that in some places it's listed as Quality Lodge, and the business cards literally say EQuality Lodge. Like someone just tacked the E in front after purchasing it and covering some holes in the walls. The receipt still said Quality Lodge at the bottom. Oh well. I got to spend a night with the b. F. And get lots of sex.
They have a list in the rooms of how much everything will cost you if something is damaged or missing. Made me not want to touch anything. They had a incedental fee of $200 and I waited dam near 30 minutes for the lady to return from the room check just to get my money back. To much to go through just to rent a room. But the room was nice.
The indoor pool was supposed to be 80° but was FREEZING! I felt like I was going to get hypothermia. The complimentary breakfast waffles were damn good though. Everything else was pretty slim pickings. Free Wi-Fi (like most places). Uncomfortable beds.
Only 2 people at the front desk, both only there a month, that know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the logistics of their job. I'm asking an internet question and it's like im talking martian to them. They had no clue how to solve my problem, when I'm telling them how to accomplish the task at hand, nor the give a damn to even try. Why even work here if your boss has to handle basically everything but is gone for days upon days? Customer service is not on the sign outside, so don't expect it.
My first experience at this hotel was good. However this time was quite a bit different. My husband and I went to check in and the clerk was very rude. She didn't acknowledge that we were there and was busy arguing with another customer. Whom had lost there food to a vending machine and was seeking help. Both were agitated. Finally after some problems we got checked in. The rest of our stay was pretty nice. We had a really nice room and enjoyed swimming in the pool.
Took a shot in the dark at staying here, and to visit Rockford: we always drive through the city to get somewhere else. Loved our hotel: friendly staff, best hotel swimming pool area I have ever experienced: lots of windows, warm water, large shallow area, plus a deep (9') area. My wife (from the Caribbean, so she needs warm water! ) and my 3-year old and 8-year old and I enjoyed it immensely. Also, our room was very quiet: even though we stayed in rooms near the front of the hotel, I heard zero road noise. Oh: and we had a fridge and a microwave, and plenty of pillows! Recently I spent almost $200 a night at the Hilton in Omaha, and did not have a fridge or microwave in my room, and their pool was small, cold water, and no exterior windows. We will be back to Rockford, and we will be bringing our friends with kids just so we can enjoy this hotel swimming pool, the excellent nearby Mexican and Thai restaurants, and my favorite children's museum in the Midwest. I recommend the Howard Johnson in Rockford as a great deal.
This place is a surprisedly cozy place hidden behind a dated outside exterior. The room we stayed in was very nice, clean, and quiet. Staff was kind and helpful. Will stay again when we return.
So I have been going through and reading some of these reviews and all I can think is "WOW" I used to live in Rockford a couple years ago, I stayed at the Howard Johnson before and it was horrible. Well I ended up moving to Ohio and I go to Rockford all the time for work and just so happened to hear the Howard Johnson was under new ownership. I figured hey seems like it's worth a shot. I have stayed there at least 10 times if not more in the past year and for multiple days at time. I have never had a bad experience. The staff is great, the rooms are clean, and not once have I ever seen a bedbug. In 2 of my visits I had noticed pest control there doing their routine runs. The owner is on top of that. I had a conversation later on with her over a smoke and told her I noticed him and she told me she does routine visits with them all the time just to make for sure she doesn't get them. That's a good owner! Wish all hotels could be that way. On another note, they have done a ton of renovating and I know there's more to come, hoping the bar is open my next visit! Keep up the great work Howard Johnson staff!
Well my husband and I liked this hotel. Until we got bit up by bedbugs here. We called to let the owner know we had bites and she did have pest control come, she told us they had found bedbugs and where treating that room and the rooms next to it. We ended up calling Wyndham to let them know what had happened. Well after they contacted the hotel about it the owner sent us an email saying they only found 1 bug and indirectly accused us of bringing it to the hotel (even though after this we received no new bites). It's cheap and generally clean other than this but just beware if you have any problems they will backtrack and lie to make it seem like your fault. I will add the pictures, the email contradicts the text that she had sent us previously.
Location is in a nice quiet area off the highway. The rooms are nice and spacious. Very clean. Good pricd for what you get. Service was exceptional. And the food they serve, including breakfast, is delicious. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Rockford.
If you have any sense you will not stay here. First of all they put me and my familly in a room with a microwave that was missing the glass off the front door. Second lamp in room was not plugged in so when I goto plug it in it starts to spark. Third we had 2 laptops and several cell phones we had to take turns to charge because to wall outlets didnt work. And to top everything off they advertised a heated pool that was broke down and locked up so kids couldnt even swim. I goto complain to front desk and she tells me theres nothing she could do about anything. I know $70 for a room is not a whole lot but you should at least get better service than what I received. Needless to say I will never stay here again. So if in the Rockford area for an AAU track event like me and my familly were I recommend you stay very clear from thjs establishment.
If you want to pay in cash youll need a weeks paycheck. 200$ security deposit for a $60 room? I laughed on my way out. $200 is about what the insurance would pay if the whole place burned down. Thanks but no thanks.
Very quiet which I liked. Spent New Year's eve there had a great time. Yes I would go back if they get the hot tub up & working. Just saying.
I am a Driveway driver, and I broke down. The hotel is old, but the rooms are clean, beds comfortable and staff very nice. They we're very helpful when I needed an extra blanket and let me borrow a phone adapter. Very nice. Down side, phone in room didn't work, and the air was lightly blowing around the edges of the glass door enough for the bottom of the curtain to stay billowed out on the bottom. They gave me an extra blanket so that was nice. The room eventually warmed all the way up and was nice and toasty. The price was right too. Thanks. I would stay again no problem.
Very good all staff friendly owner went way out of her way to accommodate me I had no vehicle it was broke down and she was willing to take me on any errands I had new owner and doing a lot to better hotel I'm confident it will only get better.
Terrible hotel half the lights worked only half the plug ins work. Got a paper plate duct taped to the vent in the ceiling. Only good thing was that the beds were comfortable. Would never come back here.
Rude staff. Filthy rooms and horrible room service. If you like no deadbolt on the back door and the above mentioned details, this is the place for you.
Under new ownership, this Howard Johnson's Hotel is on its way to re-becoming a world class hotel. Clean hotel, friendly helpful staff, great location. They are still working on remodeling the hotel, but I can't wait to see it again when it's finished.
Love this place. The counter people there know what you want and put you in were you get the sleep n less noise to accommodate your needs. Thankyou great job.
The rates are great, the staff is very nice and professional, the pool is big and heated! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The owner is very kind and courteous. Will DEFINITELY be back to stay again.
As far as hotels go, this was the least clean and trashiest appearing hotel I have stayed in. I can't criticize Equality/Quality Lodge (which one is it? ) too much because it was cheap and you cant expect quality from the cheapest place in town. Wallpaper was peeling all over and it seems the housekeeping staff is half blind with hair still covering the shower. The paper plate duck taped to the ceiling was a nice touch. Classy.
The building is old. They are trying to make updates. 2nd floor rooms have high ceilings which are nice. Pool is very large and great for kids. It's clean, it's just old and run down.
Got sent all the way to the back of the motel. When I asked for a possibility of a relocation, receptionist didn't even bother looking when the motel was NOT FULL! Pool looks extremely dirty so me and my wife didn't even bother. The windows in the rooms are not able to be opened, which causes a foul odor in the whole building. Rooms were not clean, the "free breakfast" consisted of cereal, cheap bagels and toast. The one star I am giving is for them having a waffle maker. The motel stinks, literally. I am all for saving money but if you find another place for a bit higher in price, invest in that. TRUST ME! My wife was ill the entire weekend and the foul odors definitely didn't help.
The rooms are a nice basic room and the pool area is fantastic! Front desk staff were very nice and the breakfast was your typical continental.
This place is relatively clean although my mother in law found bugs in her room and they happily moved her to a new one. There are many windows that are cracked. I can't say it's the worst hotel I've ever stayed at but that's not saying much. I've never seen a Howard Johnson in such disrepair. If you need a comfy bed to sleep in it's ok, but, it's surely not luxurious by any means.
If you're looking for a cheap place to stay, this is the place. The service is good, but it's definitely old and run down. There is a pool, but the hot tub is shut down. Overall better than motel 6, but nothing too fancy.
My fiance and I went for our 7th anniversary. We had a blast, everyone was so nice and the place was clean and comfortable. The pool was awesome. I only wish they supplied towels in by the pool and had toys for the pool. Also some of the guests were being loud as we were trying to sleep. Other than that, our room suited us, we got a refrigerator at no extra cost, we had an air conditioner that kept the room cool and cable TV with lots of movies. We couldn't have asked for anything better.
If you want a basic place to spend the night, the price is right and the beds were comfy. There is a nice looking indoor pool, but our trip did not leave us time to try it. Room was clean, but there were some damaged tiles in the bathroom and some of the border was coming loose around the wall. The lady who checked us in was very helpful and friendly. TV was good with some basic cable channels and there was free Wi-Fi. Continental breakfast was available but we did not go downstairs to see it.
Rooms were clean and well kept, and the continental breakfast was good. There was also a balcony, which was nice. I would stay here again.
Pool was going to close right after we left for maintenance… hotel was great staff excellent nice stay.
Nice location for the price. Hotel is dated but I had no issues!
Watch out! Staff is shady and shady people hang out in the lobby if you catch my drift. Not good for families. Dirty rooms. Beds didn't look good. We didn't stay.
We found bed bugs! STAY AWAY. Staff is very rude. Unlawful practices where observed and reported to authorizes. Front desk clerk was aware and allowed a male who clearly wasn't renting a room, to use the various things in the lobby and use it for his personal office. He was certainly not an employee in his flashy street clothes.
Staff was great they gave us everything we needed they answered all our questions and helped his order food the pool is nice got a real shallow end for kids to play in and then it's got to be around for the older kids so for the price it was a very nice hotel and a very nice day.
This motel was a great place in the 70s. There are several families living in this Motel. We have been here for 2 wks on a job. And our sink s have been stopped up for 2wks. I've complained 4or 5 times and there stilled stopped up. That's my pet p.
Housing staff is friendly. However it's a very shady hotel that is extremely outdated. Overall your getting what ya pay for.
You can't always go by your reviews you have to check things out yourself they are remodeling the place and I'll give him a good three star.
This place is infested with bed bugs! You will wake up with bites all over your body! They are not clean at all, dont waste your money.
Stated for one night. They have bedbugs. Found 2 crawling on the pillow. Pillow were stained, the sheet and mattress had cigarette like burns. Staff and front desk was ride. I would not recommend it.
Never stayed there. It's a drug dealing hotel. With prostitutes.
What a difference from the past! Remodeled and clean room. Hot waffles in breakfast, my family loved it.
I did a monthly stay there cause my home was getting some work done. The room I has was great and very clean. The service was great. The rate was great and everyone was so helpful and friendly. I give them five stars and would be happy to stay there again.
I am very pleased with the staff, room and breakfast. This is a good value for the money.

RespondGood customer service, friendly staff. The room was clean upon arrival. It was a safe and secure environment. This is a great value for your money as well as a great location. I had a great stay overall.
Only giving this place one star because you can't give it zero. This place is a complete dump. The whole place smells like mildew and piss. The carpets are dirty and stained. The room was disgusting with water damage to the floors, walls, and ceiling. Toilet bowl would not stop running. Bathtub and toilet were dirty. Burn holes in the sheets and mattress. Housekeeping would not answer the phone. The sliding door was broken and didn't open. The safe did not work. The only ice machine in the whole place was on the second floor and about a five minute walk from my room and another five minutes back. There were bags of trash piled up near the ice machine. Other guests were hanging out in the halls near my room being extremely loud and banging on my door shouting profanities at 4 in the morning. There was dirty laundry and wet towels thrown into the hallway in front of several rooms. Shaddy characters hanging around outside near my car. I wouldn't recommend this hotel even to my worst enemy. We only decided to stay here because it was compared to the Ramada and comfort Inn and rated as a 3 star place. That was a complete lie. I have stayed at cheap motels that were half the price that were better kept than this hole in the wall.
In reading reviews, it is important to remember this is a 1-1/2 star hotel at a 1-1/2 star price; also keep in mind Rockford's sustained economic woes. With this perspective, our rating is based primarily on the fact that although the hotel looks questionable on the outside, our room was clean and in well condition. The pool was also very family friendly. Our only complaint was a bracket on the bed, just above the ankle and hidden under sheets, that was a safety hazard. Notified front desk and maintenance fixed the problem. The continental breakfast was unimpressive and on par with expectations.
This place is a dump. It's not a hotel, is a motel complete with hoodrat trash. The rooms are straight out of the 80's and havent been touched since. Don't use the bathroom or you might catch something and I'm pretty sure the bed sheets haven't been changed since ice ice baby topped the charts. And why in the sweet hairy Jesus christ do all the rooms smell like dead hookers and cheap car fresheners? STAY AWAY!
DUMP! I had only planned to stay a week there then move up to a nicer hotel off state street. I didn't last a week. The room smelled of vomit, and the day I was leaving a mouse decided he wanted my trail mix more than I did. So I took pics of this little guy eating my stuff and went to show the managment. The Representative at the desk was rude, and looked and smelled like he hadn't bathed in a week. That place is nasty. Hookers, drugs, and every kind of unsavory individual you can imagine. Do not stay at any hotel by the airport. They are all nasty. Go up to the north east side of Rockford and stay in the nicer places. You'll pay a little more, but you won't take bugs, or mice home with you.
Sign said newly remodeled, from the looks from the room itself, needs lots of work, tub was broken, couldn't shut shower door, dresser draw was missing. Found cobwebs hanging from ceiling, found a tick in the room, pool was closed, they offered 25.00 refund.
The stay was great, the front desk lady was very kind and helpful, and the rooms are really clean. Also House Keeping is very kind. Over all I had a great stay at Quality Lodge.
The room smelled of smoke. Towels were dirty white color. Bathroom floor tile coming up and tub was worn. Pillows were very flat and had an odor. Not a good experience.
It looks like a dump from the outside but rooms ar nice.
Very nice, felt comfortable and safe especially being a woman traveling solo. Parking also convenient and secure. Front desk courtesy was unbelievable.
"beautiful moments and a nice experience" " (12-19) ".
Horrible! Dirty, run down, shady characters. We didn't even stay the night. After our wedding, we went back and got our stuff and drove 1.5 hours home. Hotel looks nothing like the pictures posted on their website. Totally gross.
Place is a warzone and filthy. Long term residents yelling and fighting on the upper decks and walkways until 3 am both nights we were there. Staff didn't give a crap about you. Pool was gross and the rooms were disgusting. Hair and bugs everywhere. Sheets made me itch for 3 days. We walked across the street to the Rockford Motel. Looked like a dump but it was clean and comfortable.
The only good thing was checking out. The whole hotel has this moldy smell to it. Guests were smoking by the stairs. The bedsheets had a cigarette burn hole. The pillows were stained. There were stains on the wall, chairs, and even a juice stain on the roof. The floors had dirt on the corners. Even the safe didn't work.
Stayed 3 days and 2 nights in this hotel and the whole reason we chose this particular hotel was because of the large swimming pool. We called to make our reservations for this hotel and the very next day after we arrived the pool was closed for the rest of our stay! The pictures online are completely deceiving and what a major disappointment when we arrived the hotel is not well kept at all and it is located in a not so nice neighborhood. We had even asked what the area was like when we called to make the reservations and were told it was very nice and convenient to everything that was a complete LIE!. The maid service was non existent we had to get our own towels and other things and didn't even come in and make the bedd or clean! We were offered compensation due to not being able to use the pool. They were going to email us this compensation and we never received anything! Will never stay there ever again. The Hotel Staff were completely deceiving on their information given to us.
Excellent hotel and services. The staff is extremely friendly as if you've known them for years. Very pleased with our stay. Rooms are very affordable, clean and updated. Our room has a strong Wi-Fi connection. Pool, sauna and gym made the stay even better. Sherry's Kitchen has very good food that is priced just right. I don't know where the negative comments are from but everything mentioned in them can't be true because I've seen total opposite.

I applied at this place. Stacy and John seemed obviously on drugs and are rude and unprofessional. This establishment is infested with prostitutes and beg bugs. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time or money. Infact file a complaint with Rockford Health Inspection.
