Great cocktails! Had their bar menu and it was awesome.

Such a friendly, charming hotel and town. The staff at the hotel make you and your doggies feel extremely welcome.

The Cyprus Inn is very dog friendly. They treated the dogs as good as us, and that was excellent too. The hotel used to be Doris Day’s home and was converted to a unique hotel. Restaurant had very good food and service is excellent. Thanks to the hotel for being so good to us. And our two basset hounds.

The atmosphere is classy and friendly. Rooms are very comfortable, downstairs sitting area has enough room to relax and enjoy the local sights.

I took my dog Gigi and we had a great time at the Cypress Inn. I happened to meet the owner when I first arrived, he was so kind and loved my dog! We had dinner in the adorable Christmas light patio and all the staff were super kind! :)

Beautiful quaint in in the heart of Carmel. So nice to be able to window shop and be right in town. I’ve parked my car since I’ve stayed and I haven’t used it once. Down at the beach now for Sunset before heading back for a nice dinner. I really love this place ❤️

Not great when you are in a hurry. But for a slow relaxed meal, awesome. Romantic & or fun. One dog free dining room & one dog friendly. They play Doris Day movies & have lots Doris Day memorabilia. They kept that after Doris Day passed which I think is great. Also, they have a lounge with a singer or a pianist some kind of entertainment. It’s fun.

My favorite place for a glass of wine I Terry’s lounge! I bring my Yorkie sometimes. Very friendly staff. Love getting to sit on sofa in bar or outside on patio! ❤️

Of course the memory of Doris Day but above all it is a very cozy place with friendly staff. I am delighted.

The room is very nice, I love. We have a balcony with table and chairs set. The inn is quite wonderful. Staff are very accommodating. As I sit on in the music room I can see Doris sing. So wish she was here.

Doris Day’s charming boutique hotel. We were there for her birthday celebration in March, our lovely room was outside in the courtyard which felt more like a bungalow, it had a fireplace and complimentary decanter of brandy and tons of amenities! It was wonderful to see so many guests welcomed there with their pets! The staff at the hotel was gracious, courteous, the cocktails and food were amazing, tons of Doris Day memorabilia with her music that played continuously, wonderful live music performances at night all of which made our weekend VERY memorable!

Amazing little place. Ask for Mary as she is a 21 year vet behind the bar serving up all kinds of great things! Dog friendly and people friendly too!

We ate here after we heard Doris died, and it was bad, one waiter waiting on the entire restaurant, inside and out, and yes the service was bad but not his fault. They had two hostess and neither one would help this guy. I ordered Prawns and Linguine, the linguine had no flavor at all, felt it just came out of the water to the plate, and same for the prawns, very disappointed, I wanted to like it because we like to have cocktails there.

Fabulous place! We were here from Scotland last year, it was so much fun to see people coming and going with their dogs. Just wonderful!

Lovely small hotel in the middle of Carmel. The bar/restaurant is very good and s great place for people and pet watching.

I’ve been going to the Cypress Inn for years! Christmas with family friends and dogs Lakota and Abbey were memorable I will be visiting soon with Sadie, my Labradoodle graduate from Aly’s Puppy Boot Camp She’s going to love the ambiance of the hotel and the charming village of Carmel!
It’s always been my healing place.

This has been our favorite place to stay in Carmel for several years however we have been exploring new options in Carmel. Pros: It's dog friendly and an ideal location offering easy walking distance to the beach and all of downtown. It has a very enjoyable sitting area with fireplace indoors (sometimes with evening entertainment) as well as the attractive outdoor courtyard. Great place to enjoy a burger and fries, or Doris Day's Chicken salad. The staff is quite friendly. The cons: The restaurant vent system is noisy and often runs until 10:30-11PMPM. It can be heard in many of the front facing rooms which is a challenge for light sleepers. The main courtyard rooms also get noise from people talking in warm weather months until late evening. The restaurant menu could use an overhaul with a better, local wine selection and improved dessert options. As the room prices have increased we now expect deluxe room amenities (better towels, higher quality sheets, and soaps, more deluxe turndown service, etc).

My best of many extended visits to Carmel By the Sea but my first time at the Cypress Inn. The best croissants. And the aroma of house-made popovers warm from the oven wafting up to the room in the morning makes getting out bed a treat. Best of all, the presence of canine guests everywhere tops the list of amenities. I'm here with my boys Augie and ZiGi and they are having the time of their lives. ZiGi got so excited at dinner last night when another large canine entered the room he literally howled with pleasure. I can't wait to come back. I won't stay anywhere else. Thank you Cypress Inn for giving me the best time I've had in a long time.

Our party was seated on the patio today and felt like we were an after thought! Service was very slow with no refills on beverages unless asked. We ordered the "tea" which included tea selection, a ready made tray of sweets and savories. The quality of the pastries were better than the sandwiches which were a disappointment and average at best. I'm a local and am not sure I will return.

Love being there. Great happy hour. It's special to be able to enjoy the doggies while enjoying the wine and appetizers.

We love having the Sunday eggs Benedict for brunch. The outside patio is lovely to sit and being allowed to brings dog is another bonus.

Aging but pleasant. Old style hotel with wonderful staff and lots of patrons with friendly dogs. Don't visit this place if you're looking for the latest technologies or want to be insulated from the world. But a nice place to the stay if you're looking for a nostalgic visit. No air conditioning in most rooms, but wonderful windows that open to let in the fresh, cool, Pacific breeze. You'll hear the folks in the rooms next door and upstairs, but people were mostly considerate and quiet during our stay. The bathroom was very clean, but could definitely use some repairs and an upgrade The location is great for walking around the downtown or to the incredible white sand on the beach just a few blocks away. Parking can get difficult in the area. They have a small (9 car) parking lot just a minute walk from the front door. You'll need to call on the morning of your arrival and reserve a spot ($22 including tax).

I am giving this review 3 stars because my meal was quite dry. My husband and I were there for brunch and on the menu my item said something to effect of eggs the way you'd like, and I forgot that when I ordered it, but when it came out with scrambled eggs, I was unhappy that I hadn't been asked what type of eggs I'd wanted and they'd also forgotten the fruit salad that was supposed to come with it. The atmosphere was quite nice and my husband really enjoyed his meal, so I wouldn't say it was all bad. They are quite dog friendly and we were able to bring our dog to the restaurant, which is quite nice. We met some other lovely people who also had a pup, so if you're a dog person, this is a nice place to check out.

Love your dog? Carmel is the city to be in and this is the place to stay when you visit. Dog friendly to the max! From the moment you walk in the door your doggie will be going crazy with all the new friends. Rooms are a little funky and a bit dated, but that's part of the charm. Very friendly staff, comfortable and very conviently located for walking to restaurants, galleries, shopping and beaches, all with your four legged best friend.

A wonderful place to stay in the bed and breakfast Style. Shows a lot of the homie charm of the Carmel area. But perhaps the best of all, it is pet friendly.

Lovely historic chic Inn beautiful place to stay with a good comp Breakfast, with a bar, restaurant & with outdoor seating. Rooms are well done and cozy. Like all of Carmel its dog friendly, very friendly.

Landmark hotel owned by Doris Day. Dog friendly. Terry restaurant inside hotel with nice outdoor patio. Named after Doris Days deseased son. Lovely comfortable rooms and suites. Located one block off Ocean on Lincoln.

This is our favorite place to stay in Carmel. It's very dog friendly and a perfect location within easy walking distance to the beach and all of downtown. A change in management in the last year has been positive in operations but not in the restaurant. Could use much better wine selection, desserts and please get rid of the tacky signs around the hotel.

I have been a guest at the Cypress Inn several times, each time I was accompanied with my poodles. This place is magical. Everyone is happy. The dogs all get along. The rooms are great, and so is the staff and the restaurant/food. If you have or love dogs, you will love this place.

It was okay. They leave the front door open so if you sit in the cocktail lounge area you are essentially in a giant Breezeway of cold air. Service was spotty. The actual happy hour food was pretty good, and it's always a nice thing to be able to bring your well-behaved doggy with you inside.

Excellent spot. Food was great and service was fast and friendly.

Peruvian manager was excellent, friendly and focused on his guests. The servers were mediocre and I'm guessing that they judged a book by its cover.

Lovely hotel right in the centre of down town Carmel. Staff were friendly and the room was great. The restaurant and garden area were great. I loved the club sandwich and bloody mary.

This is one of my Happy places. When you are here you just can't help but to be Happy. It's the staff, always so helpful and friendly, it's the ambience, the outdoor areas with beautiful flowers, indoor areas with special touches and beautiful rooms (tower suite! ), restaurant with mouth watering food and drinks, and the dogs! This place always leaves me smiling!

Terry's bar is fantastic. Locals frequent it. Dogs are welcome and frequent it. Ask for the bar menu for smaller plates, reservations better on weekends. Eek.

Great ambience, terrific service, so-so food… the food is on the greasy side and lacking in flavor. The sand dabs tasted of pretty much nothing in spite of being breaded and fried. The burger was ok. But the wait staff was very attentive and responsive, and the Mediterranean villa setting is lovely.

An iconic landmark in Carmel you have to visit! Amazing vibes, friendly staff, great food… a must-see! The hotel rooms are all unique and very comfortable.

We came in with a toddler and an infant for cocktails in the parlor and the staff was kind, fun and attentive. Definitely a great place to relax and beat the crowds on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It's always been a pleasure, although disappointed the outdoor cocktail area is now allocated for dining only with tables and chairs and no more couches. Oh well! Still a great place.

Came here to eat with the family. Patio and part of the indoor reception area allows seating with dogs. The food is decent in terms of quality and taste. Nothing to write home to Mom about. My wife and I had the fish taco and Cypress club. I'd recommend the Cypress club if you're really hungry, and the fish tacos only if you really want a fish taco… Anyways, the inn itself is very nice, well kept, and the staff is courteous and pleasant.

This place is amazing. The service is outstanding, and I LOVE their (included) breakfast and their lovely courtyard. Note: it's noisy in the mornings here. The trash on the street gets picked up every single day, and the hotel can't change the historic windows to keep the noise out. Not a great place for a hangover…

This hotel is a nightmare to stay at. Only some of the rooms are air conditioned (a fact that is NOT made clear on the hotel's website), which means that if you are staying in a non-air conditioned room, you are basically forced to sleep with your windows open. This would be fine, except the rooms lack decent window coverings and you can hear Every. Single. Sound. From the street. Essentially, good luck sleeping in past 7 unless you bring ear plugs. The service was also not what one would usually expect from a luxury hotel. No one offered to help us with our bags (the guy standing next to the front door of the hotel didn't even come to the car to help us get them out of the trunk). Parking was also difficult to access and far from the hotel. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

The staff at this the Cypress Inn are unbelievable. They go out of their way to help. Katie at the front desk, we wanted to adopt and take home, she is such a pleasant person. Jimmy the restaurant manager, has made the food and service at this restaurant second to none. I had the salmon and it was the best I have ever had, and I travel a lot.

My daughter and I ate Sunday brunch on the patio on a stay at our cottage in town. The food was delicious and the patio was private and pretty. Nice live music, too! We will definitely come back.
