Unique family run hotel since ~1947. Each room is different and decorated with antiques. Only year round heated pool in town. Dry sauna. Top floors with ocean views looking over the pine forest. Some kitchenetts & 2-bedroom suites. One of the few with significant amounts of off street parking in town. Meeting room with kitchen available for a fee to groups, classes, or family reunions.

Good location, and price in central Carmel. Very friendly staff. There's no gym, but there is a pool. Decor was dated, but rooms were clean.

Hotel room is very dated and bathroom hasn't been redone since the 1950's. Ocean view room is not ocean view. We brought our small dog with us and paid a pet fee but I'm sure we got one of the worst rooms in the place because we have a dog. Breakfast is so so, no place to sit so you have to bring your food back to your tiny room with no place to sit. Staff is friendly, but will not stay here again.

We've been spending our anniversaries at this wonderful family "Hotel" for years! This may our 45th anniversary weekend is booked. So excited!

We stay here all the time when we come to Carmel. It is a nice place with many rooms with views of the ocean. A short walk to all the stores and restaurants. We will keep coming back!

Cute and little hotel in Carmel. Very clean. Heated pool. Good Wi-Fi. Breakfast is a bit monotonous as they offer sweets only. But more than happy to come back!

The suite is pretty fantastic. Small kitchen, two bedrooms, and lots of room. Good heating and even a heated bathroom. Unfortunately it needs some love. Peeling paint, crooked counters, and overall not very well kept. Fortunately it's super clean and has good service. Overall very happy, but the suite needs maintenance ASAP.

The hotel is exactly like the city that hosts it (carmel by the Sea) … A little gem! Nice rooms, quite well maintained, warm welcome and very convenient location to visit the town even on foot. The price of the rooms is not exactly cheap, but aligned with the other facilities in the area. It features indoor parking (not to be underestimated in the area) and heated pool! Recommended!

The baby chairs in the room need upgraded to adult chairs, the shower was nice, location and parking was good, I wish the pool was a little warmer… decent place to stay for a couple nights.

Location was great. Staff was ok, not overly friendly. Our room view was lovely. Rooms are old, some are bigger, some are smaller, some bathrooms are newer than others, we were with friends of ours so we got to see different rooms. Clean, but it was loud, the shower freezing, took a long time to warm up, the heater also took some time to warm up. Once warm it was too hot. We did not, but our friend were woken at 6am due to house cleaning and people passing in front of their rooms. Breakfast is right by the lobby, not much variety and not particularly good.

Great, quaint room. Fireplace. Pet friendly and does not charge too much for pets. Older residence so outlets are limited.

Friendly staff, beautiful rooms, free breakfast and a heated pool are just a few reasons why this is a great place to stay.

My husband & I stumbled upon this gem while on our roadtrip honeymoon, absolutely fell in love w/ this place & the entire town of Carmel. Loved it SO much we stayed an extra night. We live in Huntington Beach, but I'd trade a year at our beach for a weekend on that white soft sand in a heartbeat. Our room was perfect & unique, all the staff & guests we spoke with were awesome. We can't wait to go back!

这家宾馆有种族歧视。My parents don't speak English. They wanted to get a glass of orange for the breakfast in this morning. They tried to communicate with the waitress, but she just ignored them and showed no respect. I feel we have to become white to have her serve us with respect.

Very quaint from the outside but very modern hotel got all the amenities u require. Walls paper thin rooms exceptionally modern clean Wi-Fi good. Soft drink machine onsite free ice ice bucket coffee machine wine glasses 2 tumblers Bluetooth speaker system 2 put your phone on plenty of sockets. Gteat terrace 2 take your wine up 2 watch the sunset get a bottle of wine in as its $8-10 a glass in bars resturants + tax then tip. Breakfast is continental but its a bit of a free fall all not put out European style and your cramped into reception u do however have the option of taking it 2 your room. Staff very freindy. Word of warning when u go out eat late or go 2 a deli 2 bring food back u cant get anything 2 eat after 9pm. 1 bar open until 11.30 Hoffas across the road kitchen closes 9pm there as well.

This is a nice location close to town with ocean views from some rooms.

Lovely setting, convenient pool. Close to the many restaurants and lovely walk to the stunning beach down quaint tree-lined streets.

Beautiful little hotel, amazing customer service, very friendly staff. The rooms are very clean and have everything one could need. Location is perfect! Very close to everything in town, but also not in the middle of all of the foot traffic so it's nice and quiet. Breakfast was delicious. They have a pool and sauna, but we didn't take the time to check those out. Overall, very beautiful, clean, and friendly hotel close to everything.

Loved the place, there is a heated pool and sauna, the staff is very friendly. Didn't like the small bed and pillows. The breakfast have few options and is served in the small lobby, they give you trays to get what you want and go have it in your room, not very practical.

The staff was great, friendly and welcoming. Nice pastries for the free breakfast, which you can take to your room (I preferred that! ). We had a lovely surprise of chocolates when we got there, since it was our anniversary weekend. The bed, pillows, blankets etc. Were all very comfortable and the location is just a couple of blocks from downtown Carmel. Would definitely visit again. =)

Only a few blocks from Ocean Avenue on San Carlos Street, Hofsas House is a quaint inn with European charm. Rooms above street level will have a fantastic view of the ocean either from their window, balcony, or through their dutch door. Upon check-in, whales passed by and greeted Carmel with spouts that glistened in the afternoon sunlight. All of the rooms are unique, but here's what you might find in a spacious 2-queen room: * 2 queen beds with comfortable mattresses and lots of pillows * Cable TV * Telephone with voicemail * Bathroom with shower, vanity, hair dryers, and beautifully scented shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soaps * Comfortable upholstered chairs * Table and chairs for in-room dining or use as a desk for business * This particular room had a wet bar nook with sink, microwave, coffee maker, mini refrigerator.

Feels like at home and more.

We love Hofsas House! We've come here several times since we found this place 4 years ago. We even brought family and did a family reunion trip. Great view of the ocean, clean rooms, friendly and welcoming owners and staff, and very pet friendly. The price is right too. Parking can sometimes be a challenge, but it seems that most of Carmel is that way.

Charming place to hold a small professional gathering/conference. Short walk to all the restaurants and shops.

Stayed in the fully wheelchair accessible room which was perfect for my electric chair. Not only did it have a roll in shower and high toilet with appropriate grab bars, the room had a bacony and ocean view. I was traveling with friends who stayed in another room. The staff quickly made a small ramp so I could also get into their room. Such service. Beautiful fresh pastries, OJ, carafe of coffee, yogurt which you can bring to your room in the morning. While the wall paper is a little tired, the room and cotton linens grew on me. Electric baseboard heater kept us cozy warm. It was absolutely sound proof inside. Can't wait to go back.

Enjoyed a fantastic weekend at Carmel-by-the-Sea staying at the Hofsas House. The hotel room was clean, priced well, and included a kitchen. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Wonderful experience overall.
