Although I would recommend this hotel, I was very disappointed when we wasted an upgrade on the same room we are always given. When we asked about it, we were told to call Marriott headquarters. Headquarters said it should have been handled by the front desk manager. As frequent visitors to this hotel, I expected better!

The water front view is awesome! We walked to Dave and busters in 2 minutes. And there is plenty to do in the area. Love the area!

We went for a conference. There was some audio issues (have you ever been to a conference without them? ) But the video, facilities, staff and food were great. Beautiful little lake out back. Close to some shopping. Real nice experience.

It's an amazing place to have a quick get away. My boyfriend and I celebrated his birthday here. He loved it. Plans are in the making to visit very soon.

I hosted a Bat Mitzvah here. The food and service were amazing! I worked with Jessica Robinson there and she was great! The rooms for our guests were perfect, the location unbelievable. We also hosted a dinner and brunch at The Bench, the staff was so accommodating and food delicious!

Well maintained older Marriott property, located close to many restaurants and businesses. Lounge is small but does the trick. Free parking. Staff are efficient. Beds are a little hard. Would stay again.

We had a work event for a coworker that had left the company. They had us set up in one of their rooms. It was very nice and the food was pretty good. Hummus and vegetables with sliders. They ran out of food halfway through the event. The employees were really very friendly.

Depending on what you are looking for … this hotel is either average or good. For me, it's average. It is in a convenient location near the Washingtonian center and the highway. The hotel itself is average in its decor. Strangely, they have a different elevator brand than I typically see at marriotts and it's slower than molasses being poured on a freezing day. They have a poor lounge and the coffee machine in my room was broken. The rooms are very small. Not one of the better Marriott's that I have stayed in and I stay in about 60 or so a year.

Nice hotel, but somewhat expensive and short on the usual amenities (lobby coffee, included breakfast or pastries, etc. ). Rooms are clean, but standard. We will give them bonus points for having an online request in the room when we arrived, and the very courteous service. A bonus is the area around the hotel, with the mall, lake, and many restaurants within walking distance (try the Mexican…). Had we been vacationing or working, we would have likely taken a different hotel.

Pretty nice place. Near the Rio so there's a movie theater and some restaurants nearby. There's also a small strip mall with some decent stores to kill some time. Hotel is quite clean and located near Rockville Pike which has more restaurants and shopping locations.

Great location, great and clean rooms and staff always very friendly. Shame about the air conditioning in the clichés!

Would've given five stars but refrigerator but no microwave in the room. I had to go from the 8th floor room to the vending machines in the lobby at midnight to reheat some pizza. Other than that the location, people, food, the overall experience was great. I actually live 30 minutes away I was here for wedding a reception. This place is top shelf in the area.

Hotel is clean and we'll located next to a bunch of decent restaurants. The rooms on one side have lovely views of the Rio lake and you can walk around the lake exiting out the back of the bar area. The restaurant in the hotel is pretty good too.

Clean rooms. Bar had a good selection. Restaurant had good food. Close to a number of restaurants. Easy to get to. Next to a pond for a nice quiet area.

Nice hotel. Only four stars because of the visible wear-and-tear and necessary repairs to the hotel. Considering I work in construction, others might not notice the same issues as me. Also could tell that the construction was of lesser quality.

You would think a hotel that you stay with 5 nights A WEEK would really give you nicer room views but apparently not this one. Loyalty that does not pay off.

I've stayed here so many times. I've also stayed at the Courtyard down the road, closer to all the shops in Rio, and much cheaper. The Courtyard is better, it just doesn't have a conceirge lounge… This hotel over charges for rooms that aren't even as nice as the Courtyard rooms. Save your money, have a better time, choose the Courtyard.

I stay at the Marriott Washingtonian quite frequently as it is the preferred hotel for my work travel. The staff are always very friendly and checking in and out is very efficient. The hotel is very clean — this includes the rooms as well as other facilities like the gym. One of the best things about this hotel is the proximity to the RIO Washingtonian center. It provides many shopping and dining choices within walking distance. If you are interested in sight seeing in DC, the hotel is a quick ride to the Shady Grove Metro which takes you to central DC in about 40 mins.

This hotel is located on the water front with nice. And friendly staff. There is a bar/ restaurant at the lobby fit for a casual group meetings. If you are conscious about price and wants to stay at Marriott chain, compare the price between this hotel and Courtyard by Marriott at Gaithersburg. They are literary $100.

Stayed at this property for 4 days for work. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Staff very courteous and pleasant. Very customer friendly, superior customer service. Great views from the room, nicely situated on water. Close to lots of dining and shopping. The managers were very accommodating. Highly recommend this location and will definitely stay here again.

Always pleasant staff here. Rooms are nice and the bar/restaurant is good if you don’t want to go out. Easy walk to a bunch of other restaurants too.

No complaints. Good breakfast, clean room. We used a standard room with two queen beds. There was enough room for a crib (we brought) for our baby to sleep in.

My favorite place to stay when I have meetings in Germantown. It has good access to lots of restaurants. Even the hotel bar has a decent happy hour.

As Marriott hotels go, this one is better than most of them. They meet or exceed the cleanliness standard, they have an excellent bar, the restaurant has good food with a lovely outdoor patio, and the service is excellent. I've been here many times for different reasons, and I can state unequivocally that their quality has not wavered over the five or so years I've been going here; whether for small lunch meetings to hundreds of people for large corporate affairs. The staff is friendly and attentive, and there is plenty of free, ample parking. Note: this is one of many Marriott properties in the area. I've been most of them as well and they are also quite good, so I tend to stay at this particular hotel when I get a rate I like. It's hard to find a poor hotel (Marriott anyway) in this general vicinity. In other words, it's wise to look for bargains.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Offered to hold my bag while I attended an interview and even gave me a bottle of water beforehand. The only issue was having housekeeping knock on my door before 9am seems a little early especially if you're checking out that day. Other than that, great stay.

My stay here was very nice. The room was big, clean, the service was good, front desk was accommodating and I would recommend and will be back. The surrounding area is convenient and lot of things within walking distance. Naomi K helped me several times, she is amazing at her job and takes a lot of pride in what she does.

Stayed overnight for a work event. Nice lakefront view, comfortable room. The events were spread out across two different ballrooms. Cocktail hour, dinner, breakfast, lunch were all decent — no complaints all around.

Attended social event here. Central location — walking distance from local bars and restaurants. Facility is extremely well maintained and staffs are professional. Definitely recommend.

I stayed at your hotel with my girlfriend Saturday to celebrate my partner's birthday. The two of us and a smal group of met at the hotel prior to going to Markoff's Haunted Forest. We returned to the hotel around 10pm. I informed the front desk / night Auditor that my group would join us for awhile in our room. I asked if that was against any rules, he approved. We were relaxing enjoying the catered food and beverages that I provided for my guests. We are all professionals over 35 / we don't "party" we were conversing quietly and listening to music. We were called twice about a noise complaint and Threatened to be kicked out. Mind you there was a wedding party that were there and still celebrating, in he halls and in their individual rooms. I feel discriminated against. I was embarrassed by your staff and security guard. My night was ruined!

My husband was a Gold member. Not sure what that means. We were in room 908. Beautiful view, comfortable room, Internet worked well. Wore the thick plush robe everytime I was in the room. Loved this hotel.

Beautiful place for a special occasion. Went to a wedding reception and were very impressed. The food was delicious and the staff was wonderful.

We were in town for a wedding and the reception was at the hotel. We stayed 3 days and the hotel staff were super friendly and helped us immediately with any need. All our rooms were available early and were very nice and comfortable. The reception itself was spectacular even though it was the second of the day. The views of the lake were beautiful. The walking path and adjoining boardwalk were definitely an asset. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Used to stay at this Marriott fairly often. Got to know a lot of the staff that work there and they were very friendly. Will be going to stay at this hotel in October and it'll be nice to be back again.

The room is nice and very clean. The beds are comfortable and I love having a refrigerator in the room. The location is great with a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

We had our wedding here in August and could not have picked a better venue. The staff was on point, rooms were clean and spacious and the Lakeside ballroom was the prefect space for our special day. The outdoor patio was a huge hit for our guests. Chef did a great job with the dinner and the banquet staff were very professional. Thank you for an amazing weekend!

I had a really nice stay there with my family. There were soeme nice restaurants within walking distance. The room itself was pretty nice. It was clean. My only complaint was the room got really hot and we couldn't figure how to get the room cooler. But I would stay there again and I would recommend.

Attended a beautiful wedding in the Lakeside ballroom. The tables were decorated beautifully and the chicken dinner was cooked very well. The service was great from the servers to the bartenders. A wonderful event at a beautiful venue!

Great ambiance. There are friendly greeters there at all times of the day and night. Location is situated right beside Rio Washingtonian for a great view and easy access to shopping and dining. The concierge is ok, but the food provided was not. You're probably better off eating downstairs at "the bench" or going out to Rio. The lobby is a nice, open area especially if you're meeting up with several people or a group.

Great linens. Clean and pretty. Good restaurant. Good weight set in workout room. 1 of my 3 day stay room wasn't cleaned at 4 p. M. Had to find a maid and talk her into cleaning my room which was 'not on my list" before she left at 4:30.

I enjoyed my 3 night stay here. The property was clean, the location was perfect, the staff was friendly and very helpful. My room was clean and the view was great, overlooking a small lake. There's no pool here which my son hated, but there's activities for the kids such as paddle boats, playground, carousel, and a train ride. I would choose this hotel again, the restaurant in the hotel called The Bench, the food was Good!

I'm a frequent traveler, and stay in Marriott hotels as often as I can, as I enjoy the brand, and the staff are pleasant, and amenities good. That said, I've been blown away by the group at the Gaithersburg Marriott, where we held our wedding reception on NYE. From the event team (we worked with Liz) to the banquet team, to the front desk staff (specifically Charles! ), our experience was exemplary! Anything we wanted, the staff bent over backwards to accommodate. They made sure we were eating (and when we hadn't eaten enough, took food to the room), made sure we didn't have to lift a finger for anything, and the entire weekend went off without any glitches. I would highly recommend the Gaithersburg Marriott for your event!

The hotel is beautiful, clean and has a amazing view. The staff are outstanding in their customer service skills. Definitely plan to stay there again and plan to recommend to all my family and friends. Did not want to check out at all.

Very friendly hotel staff. Always accommodating, most people recognize faces of repeat customers. They go above and beyond to help you with any need. Concierge lounge is one of the best on the domestic side. Staff turnover seems low, which says a lot about the quality of the hotel.

Really nice hotel with a great outdoor experience. So close to many restaurants and shops so it's a great place to have things to do during your down time. The relaxing lake outside is a great place to spend some time walking as well.

Attended a wedding at this venue, we had a great time. Had a slight issue with security… Or lack there of. The facility is top notch and in a great location though!

Kelly was very kind and helpful during check-in. After she handed my keys, I left to go to a birthday party. Upon returning, my keys would not work. When returned to the desk, they informed me that they werre deactivated due to my payment having not gone through. Would have appreciated a phone call as opposed to being locked out. Not sure why I was given keys if my payment wasnt received. Other than that, the room was great and clean with lovely view of Rio, so it was an enjoyable overnight stay.

Clean room, comfortable bed, and bartenders with heavy hands… what else could you ask for in a hotel? I travel quite a bit and have to say their beds are some one the most comfortable I've experienced in a hotel. They also have a friendly staff, decent bar, and included wireless. Parking is free and the location is easy to get in and out of in Gaithersburg. An added plus is the short walk to the Rio for evening entertainment.

Standard suburban/corporate center Marriott. Hard to get too excited about it. I give it 4 stars for service though.

The bed is nice. The heater makes strange noises at night and the TV only had CNN. I told them and they said they would reset the TV but it never worked.

Review pending by me, as the Wi-Fi screen said I would have to pay, however when I called the front desk they said it would be comped. I've yet to check out, so tomorrow morning we'll see. As far as everything else, the room was very good, clean, etc. The bed was wonderful. A little softer then a medium/firm, and it fitted me great. Loved it. Did I say I loved the bed & sheets? The TV was dark and not the best for an HD tv… no way to increase brightness. I usually was on the laptop. Shower and bath worked as they should, they had refrig and iron and hot water maker in the room… best part was being so close to restaurants, movie theatre, shopping complex, etc. I'll stay here again. I was woken up at 1130pm by this b! %ch screaming in her phone next room over, and after I called the front desk on her she shut up in under 5 minutes and didn't hear peep out of her the rest of the stay. Some people's kids…

They do not have free Wi-Fi in the rooms that was disappointing consideringost chains offer that these days.

I reported to the front desk two years ago my face, scalp, and arm has been bitten by bedbugs! About 25 bites altogether. I'm a senior bus driver for a very big bus company. The women at the front desk and security guard called the police on me and had me banned from that hotel. I'm a U. S. Marine and former NYC Fire Fighter. I never been so insulted in my life! Knowing the history of the men who started the Marriott Hotel they would not have allowed this type of racist behavior to exist.

Stayed here every week for a few months straight on a Consulting project. Location is great for a suburban hotel as it's plop in the middle of a large outdoor mall with various stores and restaurants (similar to Easton Town Center in Columbus, OH). It's a pretty standard Marriott, semi-not-so-modern but works well for business. The lounge gets very busy in the morning as it seemed like everyone had access — so try and avoid the peak times if you don't like being rushed. Starbucks on site in the lobby is pretty clutch before hopping in your rental car for the day. If heading back to this area I would stay here.

Slowest internet I have experienced since 1998. Parking is across the street in a parking garage. Terrible. Restaurant closes at ridiculous old people hours. Room is gorgeous though. Nice view of river or whatever this is. Good location. Neato seat in shower. Also a pool 24 hours. Bye friends.

This is how Marriot does business. A lie by the security guard when I had taken a friend to visit a guest led ti me a disabled person with no consideration I could be paralyzed and the only reason the police stopped was because I asked how they were going to explain my handicapped tag. They also covered up the fact that they were in a contract deal with montgomery county and used that to pressure montgomery county to prevent me not being reimbursed money stolen from me by them and medical expenses. I was approached and had racial slurs thrown while waiting for my friend and were going to let my 10 week old puppy loose to die while engaging in their false pretense.
