Just spent the weekend there and we love it as do we everytime we stay. They have amazing rooms, great service and the pool is always warm and amazing. When we visit my husband's hometown frankfort this is the Best place to stay.

We had our wedding reception there on 8/9/19! The staff was very accommodating and sweet! They made our day perfect!

Rooms are clean, staff is great and lounge was excellent.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice bar, complimentary breakfast buffet. Very happy, would stay here again.

Actually have the amenities that they list on their website, do necessary repairs (replace broken windows don't just bored them up) need to clean public bathrooms, refrigerator and microwave in rooms (I thought they had that in all hotels) and a manager that is not rude and sarcastic when problems are brought to his attention. Very disappointed.

Food was good in the lounge. The price was extremely reasonable.

Excellent service, great food, comfortable lodging and a gracious staff. They helped make our conference a success.

Lovely hotel. Parking very convenient, in a garage. Big beautiful area to lounge. Was at an event so did not see the rooms but I'm sure they were great as well.

The hotel is a bit on the older side and in need of renovations. The carpet in my room was stained and dirty. The blankets are very thin and don't provide much warmth. There's a nice pool and a cramped workout room. Free buffet breakfast is provided which is nice and there's a bar available. The hotel staff were all friendly and the hotel is within walking distance of a number of nice bars and restaurants.

I usually stay here when in Franfort for the night. A grand old style hotel with all the services hotels used to have; restaurant, bar, services… The staff is always helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, in good condition,, and have nice tasteful furnishings. Prices are very fair.

The first room we went into smelled of mold and stale cigarettes. They moved us — new room — better, but still smelled of mold. The beds — I’m not sure you can call them beds. The pillows are throw pillows. The staff was lovely — very nice people and helpful.

The furniture in the room was a bit outdated and one of the lamps didn't work. Also noticed hair on one of the bed skirts in the room. The pool also had green mold around the water filters and could have been vacumed out. However the outside patio area was nice. Parking lot doesn't give you much space to get out when you have a van. The service from the staff was wonderful from the waitress at the bar to the housekeeping staff they were really on top of it and friendly. Overall I would stay again for me it's all about one on one guest interaction great job guys.

We were traveling and needed to stop for the night unexpectedly. The price was reasonable, the staff was outstanding and the rooms were great. The breakfast buffet was tasty and plentiful. If ever this way again will definitely stay here.

The hotel does not look like much from the outside. However, when you walk in, you are greeted by a giant lobby waterfall that looks really nice. The people behind the desk were all friendly and very helpful. And the hotel offered free breakfast buffets equaling $6 every morning of my stay. The breakfast included biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, pancakes, hash browns, and grits. Excellent week in Frankfort.

This was nice hotel. It's definitely in need of some upgrades. Honestly when I pulled up, I was scared because of how the outside looked, but once inside I was impressed! Great customer service. We stayed on the 7th floor. The rooms were average, had an old smell; however it was very clean. Blankets were paper thin. Lol. You can tell this was once a booming hotel and they are in the process of trying to upgrade because it looks like their doing construction. Considering the small city, the hotel is damn near superb. Worth the money, would definitely stay again. The breakfast was okay.

Hotel was easy to find with plenty of free parking. Lobby was very nice, staff was very friendly and the food in the lobby restaurant was excellent. The convention I attended was very well run.

Restaurant, awesome! Visually, awesome! Ignorant lady behind the desk at night talks to people like some trash. Down talks and interrupts while u talk. Waving her hands aggressively, lemme tall you sumpinn! … Excuse me? Will try my best to never visit again. There is a reason its going down hill…

Pleasant group, but need to attend to details better. I'm here with a large group for a wedding. Each room has issues that should be addressed, however the rooms are clean, and the staff are very pleasant to deal with.

I have stayed at this hotel on and off for the past 17 years. It has always been a wonderful experience until now. I stayed May 9 & 10, 2018. When I booked the reservations by phone I was not made aware of the construction going on around three sides of the hotel and the fact that their underground parking would no longer be available. I could deal with that. The ladies at the front counter were extremely helpful and nice… thank you Alice. The young woman that cleaned the Lobby was so sweet, she always took time to say hello and pet my service dog. The hotel is showing its age. The ice machine didn't work on my floor nor did the bathroom have any venting, hello frizzy hair! I was in town on business so three other guest stayed in the hotel as well, all felt the same as I did up until Friday morning. I had an issue with a woman named Lyn at the front desk. She was extremely rude, hateful and very unprofessional. She made the entire hotel experience a disaster. I have contact the General Manager 4 times and have yet to receive a call. Would I stay there again… not unless Lyn finds a new job.

A service business is defined by how management handles issues. The management of Capital Plaza Hotel failed miserably during the May 4th water main break. The situation left the hotel without running water. Hotels guests were unable to shower, brush their teeth, shave, take a pill or flush a toilet. The front desk provided no time estimate for resolution. The hotel closed the breakfast room. Guests headed out for the day unable to perform basic hygiene. Returning that night, we stopped at the front desk looking for a room discount for the inconvenience. The hotel clerk blamed the city, and with attitude, refused to give us any refund. I understand the issue was not caused by the hotel. However, from a customer’s point of view, the cause is irrelevant. As a paying customer, an assumption is made that basic services would be provided. Also, we were told our two rooms were already discounted, so no additional discount could be applied. Where is the logic here? After arguing, the clerk called his manager who authorized a mere $15 per room discount. We stated that the $15 barely covered the missed free breakfast for two people, which costs $6 per person for non-guests. The clerk stated that breakfast was free, and there was no value. This logic is absurd. We were promised a free hot breakfast, and one was not provided. Of course we should be compensated for the missed breakfast! What could management have done differently?

Cindy commands the lounge which serves as the place for all kinds of great food and spirits for the whole hotel except catered events. During our four day stay we observed her serve the tables in the bar area, those seated at the bar, and those of us having a hospitality room adjacent to this area. Working mostly alone she maintained all of her many guests cheerfully, professionally and efficiently. She did the jobs of at least four people at most other locations. She deserves special recognition in the form of praise and monatery award from senior management.
The rooms were comfortable and clean and personnel helpful.
Catering for our event was probably a 3.5 due to the food not being hot and my beef was over done, tough edible.
Cindy made the experience very worthwhile.

Great staff, extra star. One imagines that the Capital Plaza Hotel was a grand site when it was constructed, sadly little has changed about the building since that day. I'm sure the lobby fountain would have been noted in the write up the hotel's grand opening received in the local gazette, and it still adds a touch of… don't know what. The bold move to offer only square pillows as opposed to the more traditional 2:3 ratio queen size rectangular pillows was unwelcome. Art in the rooms and hallways appeared adequate at first, but soon became noteworthy for its repetition. We suspected that the artist was the son or nephew of the owner of whatever company was hired to decorate this building, and the quality was just high enough to provide plausible deniability that nepotism was involved. Water pressure was good and the bathroom was clean. Iron was in working order. Again, the staff was excellent, front desk team was gregarious and welcoming, and the bartender was pleasantly attentive without being intrusive. Would stay again if circumstances warranted, though would not go out of my way to do so. As noted above, three stars, bumped to 4 based on staff.

I went yesterday and had a good time. I was in a place of political unrest and there was also something to try drinks.

My wife and I stayed here when coming back home to visit family. You can definitely tell that the hotel has a little bit of age to it but overall we had a pleasant stay. We didn't spend too much time in our room but we did have a great view of the bridges above the Kentucky River. Also, pet friendly! That was a huge bonus for us.

I stayed here with my wife and 2 children and we had a very good time. Breakfast was delicious, the pool was never over crowded, the beds were comfortable, the water pressure kinda sucked in the shower but it got the job done. The staff was nice and overall it was a clean, well maintained hotel. I am giving this 3 stars because they kept my deposit saying that the room smelled like smoke, I didn't smoke in the room and I smelled smoke all evening. As good of a time as my family had here I won't ever stay here again.

Great place. The water fountain in the lobby is very pretty and relaxing to watch. It is located in the downtown area which is close to all the local shops. Employees here are always so nice and helpful! This hotel puts on a lot of different events such as comedy shows and other entertainment packages!

Everything was clean and the hotel had plenty of amenities. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The bedside tables had lamps with power outlets on them so it was easy to plug in your phone/laptop or whatever. It just just as nice as any other hotel in town and was $50 cheaper. Will definitely be staying here from now on.

We stayed here for 4 nights, the hotel is old and it shows. The sink and tub would back up and drained very slowly. Some outlets didn't work, the walls are apparently paper thin, there were cigarette burns in the curtains, and they wouldn't close all the way. The list goes on. But they do allow pets for a $25 fee! So for us all those little annoyances were worth being able to bring our dog.

Rooms are clean and decent. All employees are very friendly and helpful. The only thing that has bothered me is the way the beds are set up. The mattresses move around on the base a lot very easily. And there's power outlets right behind the bed. So if I want my phone plugged in nearby it has to be there. With the way that's set up the mattress kind of makes it unplug constantly which is a little annoying.

Clean with very Friendly staff is the only reason I give it 3 Stars. It’s very dated, and needs a lot of renovations. Broken electrical plug covers, dated decor, terrible mattresses, worn out room chair, and still uses poorly regulating wall mounted heater/air conditioner. Can be improved, but will cost.

Friendly staff, decent rooms, rate was a little high, because of Kentucky State University Homecoming.

Hotel was beautiful. City was quaint and cultured. Hotel was in perfect walking place to explore the little shops and restaurants. Pools kind of a joke but there is much more to do in the area. Hotel has a bar which is great. Had a communication issue with the staff is my biggest complaint.

Only hotel in downtown Frankfort. The bar inside is very cozy with excellent outgoing type of service. Drinks are poured well. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet is free for guests and is ample with eggs, hash browns, sausage gravy, pancakes, fruit, donuts etc. The suite is very large. Need more non smoking rooms. Rooms are clean with some updating needed. Parking is free with room.

In a recent stay at the Capital Plaza, I was short on cash by $2 for a cab back to the airport. I tried using the ATM machine but it was unable to connect and was giving me error messages. Terrie, who was working at the front desk, could sense my concern and gave me $5 out of her pocket so that I would have enough to get to the airport. It was a totally selfless act and was WAY above and beyond what I would expect. I wanted to make sure that I shared this experience because we often hear about the bad experiences that customers have, but not the good. Thank you Terrie for taking such good care of me.

The hotel was nicer than we expected. The lobby was stylishly decorated and modern. The free breakfast was great, much better than the standard "Continental" breakfast you get at other places. We didn't like the spring mattresses. The bed was too bouncy and was only a full size. After a while I ended up moving to the other full size bed, because every time my wife moved it would wake me up.

Very out dated, dog urine in elevators, food around lobby, didn't clean room but twice out of and 8 day stay and never change towels we had to go get pool towels. And they don't change sheets or blankets even when they do clean. Had to change rooms once during stay due to toilet over flowing when another room flushed their toilet. And front desk and management are no help. I do not recommend. And they will over charge I have received two 500.00 dollar charges and a 258.00 credit and the first charge of 960. When we checked in. So I've been overcharged 742.00 for room beware they also copy credit card number down.

We enjoyed our two night stay. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Rob and Brandi… cafe/lounge staff… were very helpful and contrubuted to making our stay enjoyable. Rooms are clean… beds comfortable. Loved the wall fountain in the lobby. One drawback… breakfast left something to be desired. Good quality food… just very little variety/options. Will plan to visit again.

I have to come to Frankfort now and then for work, the hotel is in a convenient location, has parking and good food. The rooms can use some updates, however, they are big and comfortable. I have visited the pool as well, is not for doing laps but good for relaxing after a long day. Breakfast is good, and the service is friendly, people really care about you. Overall is a good place. If you are looking for a very fancy place. This might not be your first choice, but has a nice restaurant with a good variety.

I was a little unsure what to expect given the other reviews when I stayed at this hotel last week. I will say I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived late and check in was quick and efficient. I asked Shae for a dinner recommendation within walking distance. She provided me the name of a good restaurant, plus exact easy to follow directions that kept us from having to cross busy streets. She also mentioned that dinner was available in the hotel's lounge at a discount for guests… I wouldn't want her manager to think she wasn't doing her job. Every member of the staff that I interacted with was very friendly and accommodating. It's obvious that it's an older hotel, but our room was clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable. The pillows could have been a bit larger. The only reason I'm giving it a 3 star instead of 4 is the breakfast buffet. Again, while the service was good, the food was not. The waffle sticks were not kept warm, the biscuits were hard, and other than sausage gravy there were no meat options. Other than that, my stay was great and I'd probably stay there again despite the mediocre breakfast.

I did not stay in one of the hotel rooms. I attended a conference there. The staff was very friendly. All meeting and conference rooms were clean and comfortable.

Location was easy to find, room was clean and large. Included full size refrigerator and microwave. Had some minor issues which were quickly fixed. Loved that it was a pet friendly hotel but you had to cross busy street if you wanted an ample grassy area to walk them. Customer service varied; most people were very nice and helpful.

First time at this hotel! So far so good! It is clean and nice customer service.

They went out of their way to get my wallet back to me. They switched my room when it was clear someone had been smoking in a non-smoking room. Great service.

I have stayed here many times. The staff is so helpful and the hotel is pet friendly. It has always been a comfortable stay.

Room size was comfortable. Pillows we not comfortable. We were there for a two day conference. A few of rooms for the conference programs we small and cold. Lunch the first day from the grill was good. The dinner during the conference was dry, and cold. Lunch the second day was just okay. Staff was very pleasant during our stay.

I come to this hotel every 3 months for a corporate event that we attended about 60 people. The hotel provides us with ample conference space, it is quiet and enjoyable, the food is not exactly stellar but is acceptable. The facilities reveal their age but they are functional and relatively well cared.

I love Capital Plaza for so many reasons.
First and foremost the entire staff is "over the top"! Kind, helpful, happy and just wonderful people.
The lobby is beautiful with waterfalls, baby grand piano, the fountain view from the restaurant, unique!
The rooms have been redone recently with awesome bedding.
Location is within walking distance of downtown shopping and restaurants.
A great get away!
