If you come here you should hope that they have elk that day. Because my 11 year old daughter and wife were practically fighting me for it. This place is family friendly. The bartender that was at the bar that day interacted with us and was really nice. My whole family loved it 5 stars.

This cozy little lodge is the perfect place to stay for your Yellowstone trip! Definitely will return to experience the tent “glamping”. Stunning views and a great family spot! Wonderful, welcoming staff.

Love love love all the wood! Games galore, music, puzzles and so much more. The staff is amazing and very helpful. Great food menu, and amazing views. The lodge is so incredible I would love to build a house in the same fashion! I dont have anything bad to say about the place. You need to visit this place if you are in the neighborhood.

Best hotel stay of my life. Very cozy and romantic, many wonderful and free amenities (that are actually good), excellent breakfast, stargazing right outside is to die for. Super hot water. Friendly and caring staff. Well plowed and accessible in the winter. Excellent value for all you get. 15 min from yellowstone. Cannot recommend enough for the next winter adventure, hoping to be back for summer as well.

My wife and I recently stayed at theBar N. Loved it. Close to Yellowstone, great food, nice clean and comfortable accommodations. The pool and hot tub were great after a day of hiking. The best was the night sky, the lack of light pollution provided a great view of the stars. We will return.

We came here for our honeymoon, and loved our stay here. The amenities are good, the food and drinks are great as well! It was a short drive to Yellowstone.

Very good breakfast included with Under Canvas. Did not get a chance to try dinner there. But the breakfast was slightly different each day we stayed and very good.

Two bedroom log cabin was adorable and very clean. Though not every cabin had a hot tub there was one at the main lodge and hot breakfast there was great.

This is a "must stay" location. The ranch is beautiful, like being on a movie set. Its a perfect location to explore Yellowstone.

Ownership changed, we expected finer dining than what is now being offered, this business is geared for it's lodging guests only, limited menu, although the $19 trout was good, served with oily grilled green beans only, they don't except cash, dirty glassware and premises, the entryway needs to be power washed to remove the raven droppings. I gave it 2 stars for the view otherwise it would have been 0 stars.

You order and pay before you sit down. They had a very limited menu. We did that, got our number, and sat down. 30 min later others who sat down after us were served. Asked about our food and they don’t know what happened. 15 min later they bring the order and it’s completely wrong. So then we had to go through a long process to get a refund. They tried to bring a manager over and she wouldn’t come. We left and had to drive all the way back into town for dinner. Skip this place.

Cool place to stay. A bit pricey. Easy ride to Yellowstone National Park, west entrance. The town of W. Yellowstone is just a short ride, and it has many resturants and attractions. It was cold and raining while we were here, so we couldn't make use of the pool or hot tub. They looked clean and well cared for. We were told the pool is heated. The room was basic, but ours had a fridge and a working fireplace. The resturant is in a seperate building, but the food was very good. You can also rent a small log cabin, with your own hot tub on the deck. Good place to stay, even when it rains constantly.

This used to be a place for fine dining and great breakfasts, but it just does a bisquit and gravy bar for breakfast and camper type food for supper. It is adequate but not tastey. And you bus your own dishes. It still is a beautiful setting. But it has lost its famous appeal.

We stayed at Yellowstone Undercanvas and visited the Bar N Ranch Restaurant for breakfast each morning. Breakfast had a good variety of options and good coffee (always important).

Stayed here June 9 and 10th looks good when booking. Upon arrival we found out there is no Cable just DVD's to watch, no air conditioning or even a fan in our room at least there is Wi-Fi in the lodge but not the cabins. Kinda rustic but no way worth the $350 a night.

The Restaurant is about 15 minutes from the centre of West Yellowstone and the last mile is on a dirt road, easy to go and catapults you to the real American ranch.
The Restaurant is very nice, wide with very large tables as well as chairs.
The menu is typical American, the choice falls on two Burgers with bacon and onions, on the pasta Alfredo and on a salmon. All Four dishes are very good, but wins for the peculiarity of presentation and definitely tastes the salmon.
The waitress that we need is very nice, indeed to make up for having brought us a drink late does not charge us the drinks taken.
The price for the type of room very quaint but also very elegant is honest, in fact we pay 100 gratuities included in 4.

Saw in foodandwine magazine in 2018 for their restaurant. Try food grab with huckleberries, elk tenderloin and pork chops.

We stayed at the Bar N Ranch 2 years ago and loved it. Everything was clean and comfortable in our room. The staff was so amazing and made us feel so welcome and were very friendly. We even had a Bon fire in the evening and made s'mores. Haven't done that in years. We also had dinner in the restaurant. The food and wait staff were excellent, and the menu was perfect. I just recommended it to some friends. Also the breakfast was great. Will be back again.

We had a fantastic stay in the large cabin. Watching the sunset over Yellowstone, in a hot tub, after a days exploring was great. Dinner was delicious, beer selection was great. Breakfast was pretty basic but did the trick. Would highly recommend for a large group.

Fabulous Western Lodge with big rooms and memorable common areas. Great rustic decor and an elaborately sculpted Grand staircase make for a quintessentially Western lodging experience. With a restaurant, cabins and open air camping options, this place has everything.

Went on a 3 week road trip and this was probably my favorite place. The cabin was amazing. The personal hot tub was amazing. We had dinner at the restaurant and the server was so nice and helpful. It was well worth the money. The only suggestion I would say is to take the cover off the hot tub so you can look at the amazing stars. Staff were very nice and sweet. I would recommend over and over again.

Went there for breakfast buffet, food was decent but it was $14 for a serve yourself. And you could not use the credit card on file for under canvas unless you had purchased a voucher which doesn't make sense.

Wonderful place with a beautiful 360° view of the valley. Nice building with decorated interior. Good elk, bison and beef burgers at decent prices. Good selection of beers. Friendly staff.

I don't know how this place got the ratings it did? I was happy when they told us that we got upgraded to a cabin bc they had mixed up some reservations. When you first walk in the place looks nice. I go to wipe down the table so we could eat our take out and it is full of dust. I open the microwave to heat up the food and it is filthy! Dried on food all over. The bathroom had a few stains on the floor, so I use my wipes and the floor is filthy. The fireplace would not burn. The one thing I really wanted was a hot shower after a day of hiking and it took my husband a while to even turn on the water! He is an engineer! No matter what direction we turned the knob, there was no hot water. If we turned it several times it would get slightly warm, but never warm enough to shower. After 20 minutes I got it and decided not to bother showering. I was severely aggravated! Complained to the front desk and they said thy couldn't do anything until the manager came in the morning. We went to bed dirty! Obviously this is not a new issue. This cabin needs upgrading and whoever cleans it needs to do a better job. I travel a lot and this was totally unacceptable. If you pay $300+ a night, you should at least be able to take a hot shower! I will never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone else! At least a chain hotel would give you better service or give you a partial refund.

Top notch restaurant near our cabin with clamping tents across the field. Quiet location just a few miles from West Yellowstone with its own bison and fly fishing stream.

Wish I could post a photo of the cabin we stayed in. Either we happened to stay in a cabin that had been overlooked for cleaning (what, months, years) or we are not talking about the same Bar N Ranch. Definitely not worth the $300/night splurge.

We were traveling with a group of three families. Bar N Ranch was an amazing find! The cabin we stayed in was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We ate at the restaurant, the food was delicious! The whole experience was a step up from your typical touristy location; we will be back!

It was convenient for us to go here based on location and the offering of a kids menu. However, the food took nearly an hour to arrive (with less than half filled restaurant), and the food although good, was not wOrth the $30 price tag attached. Our waitress was friendly, but scatter brained, forgetting our drink orders, our dessert, and even waited an additional 30 minutes to receive the check. We will make this a one time only visit.

We ate as a family of 4 on our vacation and loved it so much we brought 7 back to dine the next night. Pecan crusted trout, bison meatloaf, and creme Brule bread pudding were outstanding!

Cool inside ambiance with lots of stuff animals on a fake rock surface. Our two year old loved it. The exterior of the restaurant feels dingy and then the food was hit or miss. Filet was great but the ribeye and strip steak were just okay. Salmon was really good bit trout not so much. The food was maybe hit or miss because the chef was out for two days and also took a few things off the menu that weren't made know to us up front (stroganoff and mid pie). We got there right at 5 when they opened and they seemed scattered so it ruined S OK me of the first impressions considering it wasn't a cheap meal. Our server was great though.

My wife and I came here during our trip to Yellowstone National Park because we were looking for a nice sit-down meal experience, and I'd read reviews about the view here. First, the grounds and the inside of the restaurant are beautiful. The restaurants sits on a large piece of property, complete with cows, horses, and vintage automobiles. I recommend arriving just before sunset, so you can enjoy the view and get some good pictures. The entire structure is wood, and smacks of a craftsman construction that looks very new. The place is almost worth visiting just to look at it. The service was also good. The host and waitress gave good recommendations, and they were friendly. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast, and my wife had the filet, and both were very enjoyable. She ordered her filet medium, and it came out about medium rare, so keep this in mind if you are averse to rare meat. The scalloped potatoes that came with her filet were also noteworthy. They came in a stack with bacon in the sauce. My garlic mashed potatoes were good as well. The only disappointment we had from the experience were the garden salads that came with our entrees. While the homemade blue cheese dressing that came with our entrees was good, the salads themselves were not. First, the portion of garden salad (And I'm talking the most mundane garden salad {i. E. Iceberg lettuce, carrots, sliced cucumber, etc. } was anemic.

I am a summer resident of West Yellowstone, MT and have been going to this restaurant for many years, originally, the old restaurant in the Lodge. I will not go back! In the beginning it was a good restaurant with spectacular views of range land and mountains. The decor has always been beautiful. The last 2 visits have not been good. First of July, 2015, I was there for breakfast. Place seemed dirty and wait service was extremely slow. Food was just OK. (Hard to screw up breakfast). This morning, 8-29-15, the whole experience was terrible. Was not greeted. Waited over 15 mins. To be seated even though it was only moderately busy. Hostess acted like she was doing me a favor. Coffee was ordered-it came to the table cold. Seats, Floors and windows were dirty. Ordered huckleberry pancakes, berries tasted old/driedout. I got up to get myself some hot coffee at the bar area and a fella came out of the kitchen with what looked like a chef's shirt on. It was filthy! He appeared dirty, unshaven and pretty rough. I can imagine what the kitchen looked like. To top it off, there were some young people eating/drinking at a table close by using the "F" bomb every other word. Believe me, I'm no prude, but I have brought my family (with young grandkids) here for breakfast and Dinner before and have never experienced this kind of language. Sad to see such a beautiful place go down the tubes like it has. Seems like there is no ownership/management in the place.

Well after a long day in Yellowstone park our family was hungry for a good steak. After having a small turkey sandwich for lunch and few miles of walking I had a huge appetite. Our server Brandy had a hard time being a waitress despite us being her only table for the first 45 minutes we were there. Everytime we asked her a question she would disappear for 10 minutes or more. Having opted for water that ended being room temperature and we waited about 15 minutes for ice. Took about an hour to get an 4 overcooked steaks that weren't even seasoned. Laughable at $35 and the stupid bacon potato tort which consisted of soggy bacon and raw potato. I am not a food conisour, but fine dining this is not.

The new restaurant is amazing! After a couple days staying in Yellowstone and eating campfire food my girlfriend and a couple friends decided we wanted to eat some good food. After a couple days of not showering and sleeping on the ground I wanted a good meal. After a recommendation from a friend, I decided to visit the Bar N Ranch outside of West Yellowstone. We were welcomed by a friendly hostess, and next a great server. Though wearing clothes that a farmer would wear to feed the sheep, we walked into the beautiful lodgelike restaurant. Everyone was perfectly welcoming in the restaurant. We decided to go all out and enjoy the menu; appetizers, meals, and desserts. The Executive Chef (Ryan) was awesome and very helpful in choosing the right dishes. The bruschetta was all made in house, bread, mozzarella, and sauces. The steak I ordered was incredibly tender and perfectly cut. My girlfriend's pecan crusted trout was well seasoned and beautifully cooked. And the desserts were a delight, a couple months later we are still talking about it. I am so glad we went, A must Eat for West Yellowstone.

Food generally quite good. Watch out for check add ons after you sign your dinner check. They got me for an unauthorized$ 32.00 and ignore all efforts to correct. Arrogant? Yes, in my book.

We stayed at Bar N as part of a family reunion trip. We could not have been happier! The view was beautiful Montana range land with mountains in the background and no other buildings in site except for a few adjacent ranches more than a mile away. We saw Bald Eagles and Sandhill Cranes on the property, and there is a beautiful stream about a ten minute walk form the lodge. There is lots to do at Bar-N including a heated swimming pool, wildlife viewing, walks, outdoor fire rings, indoor fire places (with real wood not gas logs), board games and top-notch star gazing. The next ranch over (Diamond P Ranch) had trail rides for the whole family. The kids wanted to stay at Bar N instead of going to Yellowstone and forgot about TV during our stay. The free breakfast was top-notch and the staff was very friendly. The only drawback was that Bar-N had stopped serving dinner. Not a big problem because West Yellowstone is about 15 minutes away. This is one of the few places I have stayed where reality matched the pictures on the website. And yes there is a dusty gravel road leading to the ranch. It's a RANCH. In montana.

They don't tell you about the mile long dirt road you take to find the lodge. The cob webs in the common room were distracting. The bathroom sink was full of cracks, they have a hot water problem that would shut most places down. It can't be controlled and runs scalding hot in intervals with cold (although they did post a hand written note advising us to be careful). The fridge door in our room was broken off and the trays were missing. Constant thick dust being kicked up by huge trucks hauling something out back so it impossible to sit on the private decks they advertise. Breakfast was very good but the night we ate there more than one table (including us) had to send food back to the kitchen. However, you cannot "re-cook" a steak no matter how hard they tried! The pictures on the web site do not match up with their reality.
