Reviews of W Atlanta Downtown 4*
Rooms are run down and paint chipping. Broken furniture. Dirty. There were hand prints in the shower. The worst W experience ever. I've stayed at Hoboken and DC, this was terrible. The staff was nice.
Near everything. Awesome staff. Great atmosphere. Rooms were a lil tight but the design made good use of the space.
Nice staff…Lovely hotel.
Awesome Stay! Great staff and truly wonderful facility in downtown Atlanta!
Awesome service, wonderful food, great environment.
Amazing Pool bar, awesome drinks, great food, live DJ and atmosphere, is the place to be.
Location, amenities, and great vibe.
The rooms are really small! Hype isn't worth the actual cost of the hotel. The front desk lady Ms. Kenyatta is nice; other than that, I was very disappointed!
First of all let me say it is a nice hotel. My problem is the service and the demographic they seem to cater to. The younger party scene would love this hotel so I do recommend it to them. However, I’m a middle-age woman and it was just not for me.
Over priced not that great of a room. And the rooms are small.
We loved the Bar and live Dj!
I love the place and they showed us a good time.
The staff was so helpful and nice. The view of our room was awesome!
Interesting city that I’d be careful moving too.
I love everything about this hotel.
Hotel is run down, class does not meet the W by Marriott standards. The rooms severely needs updating from furniture, carpet and walls. Service is sub par including but not limited to Valet and calling the service desk. The desk seems rushed and unclear when speaking over the phone. The cleaning of rooms is suspect especially the bathrooms, on a scale of 1-10 for cleaning I would say a 4. If you want to feel the true Marriott experience check the other W hotel in Atlanta on the opposite side of town. I am very disappointed in using 35k points for this stay.
Beautiful room I loved the see through shower it’s a very pretty and lovely hotel… the staff was great too even the valet parking.
Beautiful room, great staff.
Platinum lifetime member and this was the worst Marriott experience in a long time. Absolutely the worst restaurant service. My second W hotel stay in a month and I won't go back. Staff and service is not up to Marriott or JW standards.
Great meeting rooms and meeting room staff! Thanks for the great services!
I love the atmosphere, the staff is friendly I also love the live bands.
Such a great place to stay. The rooms are so big and people working here are super super friendly.
Poor customer service on a busy football weekend. Not a good excuse.
Great hotels. Great food and site seeing.
Took over 3+ hours till my room was ready and the condition of the pool lounge was sub par with dirty towels and empty drinks everywhere. As a Marriott Bonvoy member and card holder I'm surprised that they even still have their W on the side of this building!
This was the best place to celebrate our honeymoon. The restaurant was amazing. Tenise the bar tender and server is absolutely amazing please ask for her when you get there! She’s so sweet with a pretty smile from the moment we walked in to the very end. She gave us a beautiful arrangement of chocolate strawberries was so sweet and such a surprise. The chef Katie absolutely talented to the T! She cooked the best filet and burger we ever tasted. She even came out with Tenise to thank us for coming and congratulate us. As well as bring the strawberries with Tenise. The staff was friendly from the moment we stepped in. Went above and beyond.
Nice spot. Definitely good location. Downfall valet is more expensive than the ritz Carlton.
Absolutely love the location! I will definitely be back.
Pretty nice. If your in the area its a great place to spend the night!
Good vibe. Good location. Every one is friendly. Nice gym. Comfy bed. Interesting shower. Valet is a little expensive. Bar is pricey. $60 for 2 drinks.
Janelle helped us and she was super friendly, went out of her way to be helpful, and is an awesome employee. Miles drove us on two occasions during our stay — he gave great reccomendations and it was so nice to have the opportunity to catch a quick lift. We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that wasn’t great was the conference food.
The view, rooms, and food were awesome! The staff were attentive and ensured our visit was memorable. This is the second time we’ve stayed at the W at two different Atlanta locations, each one unique and sooo fun. Thanks for an excellent time! We certainly will stay again.
Was there for a pre-wedding party on a Friday night, the suite was huge and beautiful with a great view. The elevators are key-in only, for whatever that's worth. Downstairs bar is also beautiful with tons of decorations, so probably a nice chill spot to celebrate a birthday or good news. Music in the bar is super loud, so you won't be talking across tables or anything like that. Cozy couch-like seating for the most part down there.
I was a little surprised on my check-in experience. Upon check-in I wasn’t a happy camper. I was informed that there weren’t any rooms to receive an upgrade because they were sold out but yet I was able to go online and book rooms. After speaking to the manager on duty this was rectified. The rooms were beautiful but over all my stay wasn’t anything exciting. I expected a little more overall from a 4 Star hotel. The reason I’m giving a 4 star and not a 3 star is because Janelle was awesome. She was kind, friendly and professional.
This is a Nice hotel in Atlanta Downtown. But it is not at oar with the W Hotels Brand. Now of the rooms have a very good view as there are only 16 floors in this building and the near by hotels have over 60 floors. The rooms are well designed as per Standard of W hotels and have good amenities one would expect. The bar and restaurant are very good and the staff is courteous. The elevator however left a poor taste as they make a lot of noise and are very slow.
The hotel staff, management and security are amazing! I had an early landing flight and wasn't going to be able to check into my hotel until hours later. But, the manager on duty found me a room early and even gave me access to all amenities for 24 hours additional with no charge. Additionally I booked champagne and strawberries for my room, the concierge ended up giving me the strawberries for free. My room was beautiful, with a steam standing shower, decent view of the city, clean sheets, pool view is amazing go late at night to avoid pack-ness. Only issue I had was the room had no microwave and the fridge was so small so all of our take out food went to waste. And there is no on-site parking, either valet or parking next door. I recommend this hotel, because of the SERVICE and STAFF were lovely.
Amazing room, super friendly and helpful staff, I got a facial at the bliss spa… and Corinna did an amazing job! Loved my stay here and next time I’m in Atlanta, this is where you can find me. PS: The pool is chill, calm, and very relaxing.
The hotel was nice but please be AWARE. This hotel double charged my card for the nights that I stayed. I stayed from Friday night to Sunday. I stayed in one of their Studio suites and it showed a charge on Friday that was taken out when I got there. 2 days ago they charged me again for the same amount! I've been trying to contact the hotel several times to speak with someone regarding this issue, I've left several messages, when I've tried to explain the situation to someone at the front desk, they just hurry and transfer me, I've even attempted to call the reservation line and they stated that they would send an email to them about contacting me back, and guess what, STILL NOTHING. I'm not from Atlanta. I traveled there for my birthday, so I can't just show up. The lack of empathy and customer service is ridiculous. I would not suggest this hotel.
The Hotel must be a 5 star, the view was perfect, the bed very comfy, clean room, the light was perfect, the Wi-Fi work very well you don't have to pay extra, also the Valet Parking Staff wonderful, one night they have to pull my car twice because I have to make an extra trip after I got in. JANELLE was amazing she answer every question that I have and also help me with directions. Our stay couldn't be better. We attend the Vow in America's Mart and was just 2 blocks away from the market. I will repeat the experience next time if I have to stay in Atlanta.
Hotel view was beautiful! I stayed in the Studio Suite for my husband's birthday! The view in that room was amazing! He loved it. The only semi bad experience I had was being charged $39 for a small can of pringles (menu in the room stated the price was $3). I called the hotel on Monday spoke with a manager that stated she would get this resolved then call me back. Didn't hear back so I called again Tuesday morning. Manager told me the same thing as the first manager. Never heard back. So I called again on Wednesday. Spoke with a manager named Celia (extremely sweet lady). She sent me an email a few hours later confirming the money would be refunded. Other than that small issue, I would recommend this hotel.
This place sucks. The fire escape is locked from the inside, so if you go into the fire escape, the only way out is the fire exit, which sets off an alarm (or if you can manage to get cellular reception in the concrete stairwell, you could call for help). The prices are unnecessarily expensive; for example, they place $9.00 bottles of Smart Water in everyone's room to buy because they conveniently forgot to install water fountains or vending machines anywhere. Also, there are only two elevators, and since you cannot use the stairs, you have to wait on the elevators, which are perpetually ascending and descending regardless of what buttons anyone presses. The showers are also glass and any roommates present when you shower will be able to see your silhouette (awkward). Go to the Sheraton or something instead of here.
Had our honeymoon here and it was wonderful. We had the wow suit and it was amazing! Definitely lived up to its name. With out a doubt the view was the best part. It felt like we were in NYC. The service from the valet to the maid staff was excellent as well.
From the moment my family and I arrived, we were greeted by the manager Janelle. She made us feel welcome, she was kind and personable. I enjoyed everything about the hotel but an amazing manager makes it even better! I live 30 mins away but stayed overnight for a birthday celebration. We all agreed that it was well worth it.
My girlfriend (Fiancée by the end of night) and I had a picture-perfect stay at the W Atlanta Downtown. I worked with a woman named Angela and she ensured the night would be perfect. I proposed to my girlfriend on top of the W (on the helicopter pad). The staff knew it was a surprise proposal and did not give my girlfriend any hints. The name of the package was Perfect Occasion. We received 2 free drink tickets as it was my girlfriend’s birthday. The perfect Occasion Package included a stunning 30min helicopter ride with Prestige Helicopters over the city of Atlanta. The pilot was well experienced and very professional. Once we landed I had a photographer (Mejia-Jones Photography) waiting and captured the moment of the proposal on top of the Helicopter pad. The room we stayed in had beautiful city views and was very clean. The Perfect Occasion Packaged included Champagne, Sugarfina candies and chocolate covered strawberries which were waiting in the room upon return from the proposal. The staff at the W Atlanta Downtown are very helpful, kind and professional. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at the W Downtown. Five Stars all around!
Soundproof glass wasn’t part of the build. Rooms are decorated in early vampire porn style a la 2007 (seriously guys, you need light and bright… dark gray, black, silver metallic and royal purple makes for a fab crypt) — you can’t tell it’s clean — the room is so dark —
Albeit space perception efficient, the full length glass shower offers no privacy and hot water is slow to appear out of the faucet. Well equipped gym has a master of the universe view from the 16th floor. Service at breakfast was dismal. No refills of coffee and the only hustle was to close the check.
Rooms were a bit crowded. The frosted glass separating the shower from the bedroom was far too revealing to be staying with anyone but family. Staff was nice. Amenities were great.
When reserving our room we asked the agent which is the best room and he recommended the Cool King Corner room which gave amazing views. Hands down the most modern and stylish room I have ever stepped foot in. Why The W isn't 5 star rated Atlanta hotel blows my mind. It has Bliss spa located on the 16th floor and Bliss spa toiletries in bathroom. The rooftop pool is breathtaking. And the overall ambience is unprecedented in my honest opinion. Love the W hotels!
For the price I expected much more than a beautiful view. Don't get me wrong the room was nice, but I've been in much nicer rooms for that price point. Then the handle in the bathroom came off and someone was stuck inside. Music wasn't loud yet Staffa sm security kept bothering us. Also parking was a bit much for overnight at $40 a night. It did have a nice view of the city.
Very quiet environment.
Spent two nights at this hotel. The room was nice and well appointed. The hotel was two bars in the lobby — the living room and w kitchen. Both had great service and decent food, a little pricey for the quality but overall solid and good enough for hotel guests. Id stay here again and would recommend it.
I had the pleasure of visiting friends who live in the W hotel residences. While I am unable to comment on the rooms for hotel guests, I can provide some feedback on the hotel location and the lobby and the staff. The hotel is in a fabulous location in downtown Atlanta. It's in close relation to many excellent restaurants and decent shopping. The lobby, bar, and restaurant areas are modern and clean, and the staff is warm and friendly. I would absolutely come stay as an overnight guest in this hotel.
This hotel is on par with other W hotels, in my opinion. There isn't really anything that makes it stand out from others but that still makes it quite the solid option. Good service; clean, spacious rooms; decent restaurant and good gym facilities. There's a Bliss spa on the upper level that is open from 9am-9pm, which is a nice addition. The location is quite convenient to business locations downtown (but as far as I can tell, it's not close to any trendy restaurants or bars, or anywhere you'd want to be other than for work).
Great friendly staff. Nice secure upscale place. Parking garage, hallways, and lobby areas are clean. Great view of Downtown Atlanta. Nice spacious residential rooms from 1-3 bedrooms with various layouts. I would recommend the stay if you are looking to move to Downtown Atlanta.
My first visiting Atlanta and the W Atlanta made it one to remember! When first arriving the vallet service was very welcoming! He was a big help with getting all our luggage set up in our room. We stayed in the cool corner room which I definitely recommend. The floor to ceiling glass windows were my favorite giving you the perfect city views! The beds were super comfy which made me never want to get out of bed:) Room service/whatever, whenever service were awesome! The lobby was beautiful! It had a very hip, unique vibe! Not your boring hotel attire for sure, I loved it! I recommend coming to the W Atlanta and I hope to be back again myself! :)
A very trendy hotel that has a great modern vibe. Unfortunately what is lacking is something that is very important to making ones stay great. The bedding… from the mattress to the pillows left something to be desired. The mattress was very uncomfortable and felt as if it had little to no support, the pillows were down-filled but had very little fill, therefore you were pretty much laying directly on the mattress in the matter of minutes. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Again the hotel is very nice and I would like to give it the 4 or 5 stars that it should receive but a good comfortable nights sleep trumps everything else.
Great Hotel surely recommend it. The staff are friendly and attentive. The service is fast. They provide complimentary water in the lobby and the room. The room has great view of Atlanta City, and it has espresso coffee machine. They have gym, spa, roof top pool, restaurants, and bar. Fast room service and they gave me and my girlfriend a birthday gift! It was a bottle of champagne and box of chocolates!
Pretty sure that, having stayed here for the past four days, the W stands for wow. That sums up my experience. Firstly, the location is awesome. It's in downtown Atlanta and within walking distance of the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca Cola and the Center for Civil and Human Rights (you should definitely visit this if you're visiting Atlanta, by the way). Secondly the hotel itself is great. My room was large, with an awesome shower and a very comfy bed… I was tempted to steal the pillows they were so comfortable ;-) Lastly the staff went out of their way to make sure my stay was as awesome as it could be. The bar staff, in particular, deserve praise for this but every single person I dealt with was so friendly and helpful. I hope I get to stay at the W again some time.
The Visit at the W downtown was great I enjoyed my hotel Room. A very clean Room. I will go back again for another visit. Front desk was nice but was not too friendly. Did not tell me about any of the ammenities in the hotel Did not tell me about the hotel car. Valet and bellman need improvement had to bring my own luggage down. I really enjoyed the bar area every employee was very nice at the bar. The restaurant need to cook pancakes for breakfast but the employee was really nice also.
Wonderful hotel, great staff, delicious high end restaurant, and, AND Bliss spa on the top floor. Highly recommend! Worth every penny!
The staff was awesome. They were extraordinarily accommodating when I needed to check in very early. They were also very helpful with tips on getting around the city. The room was modern and spacious and clean. It was a bit loud in the hallway for a short period, but nothing too terrible.
There was good and bad experiences at this hotel. I had a very interesting interaction with the house keeper girls. They made sure everybody new what room they were in and did so by talking loud, vulgar language around kids that could hear them, slamming there equipment around and slamming the door over the security latch. I mentioned this to the front desk and then called a manager. The next time they were on the hall… right back at it. The location of the hotel is not very good. The cab drivers and the hotel staff didn't recommend us walking around anywhere outside of the hotel. There aren't many close restaurants and the traffic getting in and out of the hotel is pretty bad especially toward the weekend. All in all for that area it wasn't too bad. However I wouldn't stay downtown again (at any hotel). Midtown and Buckhead are much better. Food — 5 stars (surprising very good) restaurant staff — 3 stars (realllllly slow, charged for food not received) Front Desk staff — 4 stars (some of the staff was great others not! ) Bar staff — 4 stars (Good job just need to pay attention to the customer) House keeping — (foreign girls — 5 stars) (local hood girls — 0 stars) Gym — 5 stars (spotless, brand new equipment and great views) Spa attendant — 5 stars (very nice, polite and helpful) Location — 2 stars (see above) Hotel appearance — 4 stars (very pretty glass work and design)
First, I had to get my own cart. And once I fully loaded it finally a bell man decides to show up. Second, the pool area is closed since you guys didn't put the pool furniture back yet you still charge me full price. Third, the comforter had a brown stain on it. I call for a replacement and instead of sending up a full one they send me just the duvet cover. So now I got to make my own comforter? Worst W I have ever stayed at. Get better service at holiday inn.
Very nice pet friendly hotel. Came to Atlanta to ride out Irma that hit Florida WestCoast. Very accommodating! Hubby stays here every week when visiting his current account (customer) in downtown Atlanta.
The bathroom lights up the whole room so when someone has to use it in the middle of the night it wakes up the whole room. Other than that the room was nice and I love the coffee machine. Fruit water in the lobby was a nice touch. Very modern design.
Great hotel with beautiful views of Atlanta. Food and service at the sundial was outstanding. The room was standard and didn't fit price that I was paying. The local occupancy tax and GA Hotel fee I felt like I was being nickel and dime with the room rate already high enough. Bring your check book when you stay.
Great hotel. Lovely views. Walking distance from great downtown locales. Nice pool, although not enough chairs.
Came to the W hotel as it was the suggested hotel for a wedding. I called months in advance and booked a King room. I called the day before and was told that I could check in an hour early (2pm) because the wedding started at 5 and we needed to change and drive there. We get to the hotel and by 5:30 we still have not been allowed to check in. No one is even remorseful for the wait and no one offers us anything other than a seat to wait until they get rooms cleaned. When we come back after the wedding, we are given a queen bed and told that there are not enough King beds to go around. No one told us this in advance. Overall, no one was helpful or apologetic about the terrible service. I could've stayed in a much cheaper hotel for this level of service.
Loud noise from people partying in the hallway until 5:15am, horrible location (very poor area with homeless camp a quarter mile from the hotel, which we walked by and very quickly determined it's not a good area to walk around), very different clientele than I would expect at a W, lobby was packed in the evening with people not staying at the hotel who were rude and inconsiderate, which also caused service so slow we left to go elsewhere. When bringing a cup of wine up from the room we were told we couldn't bring it to the pool but instead could pour it out and buy the same glass of wine again from the bar. I would not recommend anyone stay here who wants any reasonable level of service, rest, or respect.
We stayed in a Fabulous King, and it was lovely! The peek-a-boo shower is tons of fun, the pool upstairs is incredible, albeit busy. The staff were super sweet and helpful. My husband and I got married Friday and stayed here for the weekend; the super awesome server gave us chocolate covered strawberries as a surprise, and I couldn't be more thrilled. Thanks W Downtown staff for being accommodating and friendly!
This hotel is extremely overrated… made reservations online for a room with a King size bed, got here and they had us in a room with 2 full size beds. Had to move all of our items back downstairs to get different keys. No one offered to help with our bags. Food in the restaurant was very over priced to not be that great. Instead of a relaxing weekend staycation, we felt like we were in a club. Whole place smelt like a marijuana growth operation. Very dirty in the hallways. Food everywhere. The bed was extremely uncomfortable/too firm, and the shower floor was very slippery, like it had mold on it. Sorry but we won't be coming back here, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
I was super excited about our anniversary trip. We stayed in a corner suite and booked the romance package because the spa was booked for the weekend. In the booking, I requested early check in at 1200pm. When we arrived to the hotel. Someone greeted us from valet, helped unpack the car and walked us to check in. When we got to check in, we was told our room wasn't ready but we can choose the 5th floor room but we said no we will wait. Then the driver asked do u want to go to Atlantic station and shop while you wait. So far so good right? My husband asks so when we are ready to come back, do we call you. Driver say a no call the hotel and they will send me back to pick you up. So when we were ready to go, we call the hotel to deal with the rude front desk clerk who tells my husband. The driver service is only one way, pay for a taxi. So my husband calls three more times and finally the driver calls to pick us up and he is driving like a fool. We get back and a apology was given and 2 free drinks. I like the hotel but I think the employees need to work on communication skills.
Where do I begin 1. The pillows were the worse ever And the covers for the bed are not a right fit it was always falling to the bottom of the bed There is a button at the foot of the bed and scratched my husband foot The bed is not comfortable at all . 2. No coffee maker, microwave, refrig. 3. Noisy city outside all night 4. They didn't have the salad meet wanted 5. The only thing I'd the staff well most were very pleasant 6. Would I stay here or at another W again No Way 7. Botyom line if u can't get comfort from the bed then why stay.
THIS REVIEW WAS ORIGINALLY POSTED ON 10/3/2015 UPDATED ON 12/3/2015 The "cool corner room" on the eighth floor is in bad shape and has been heavily used if you know what I mean. If you're booking a room at this hotel, it's good to know that the cool corner rooms don't have a good setup as far as blackout shades go. The configuration of the room along with really shoddy work on the contractor's part all contribute to bad light blocking. Hey, it's good to know just in case you're sensitive to light when you're sleeping — or want to sleep in late. The desk is all scratched-up on the edges, the telephone and nightstand were covered in dust (photos included), the clothes drawers are all marred and scratched and many of the bathroom fixtures seem mismatched and bad afterthoughts. I award the hotel three stars because, despite all the heavy use this hotel apparently sees, there is a clear attempt to keep it as clean as possible. The staff are all very pleasant but an alarming number of the hotel guests seem to be local trash. When I read another recent review citing two guys doing drugs in a pool bathroom, I wasn't surprised, at all. In room dining is horrifically overpriced (they all are) but the food quality (even on the late night menu portion) is of decent quality and taste. I've been to this hotel's Bliss spa on the 16th floor many times before this stay and can say it is a little better (looks wise) versus the dungeon at the W Midtown.
The hotel itself is amazing with beautiful views of the city and most things were in walking distance of the hotel. The heated pool and the bar (and bar staff) were excellent. The only complaint I have is that the way they handle money is a little shady. I had some days where money was taken out and then put back in my account multiple times and the front desk always seemed to have different explanations for this and were not well versed on deposit/refund policies. I would stay again but I would watch out for their accounting department…
This hotel could have been amazing, but it wasn't. I only stayed one night, but that's all it took to know I'll never stay here again. The refrigerator was locked, and we were promised a key that never came. I finally called and asked to be left alone after waiting 30 mins, but was told the key was being brought up at that moment. After another 15 mins, I called back and said I wasn't interested anymore. The water in the shower took forever to warm up. I kept doing other things while I waited and was ready to call the front desk when it finally warmed up. Then it was difficult to adjust because the delay between turning the knob and the temperature change was so long. The shower left me frustrated instead of relaxed. The few interactions I has with the staff, they smiled while they dragged their feet. I'll never stay here again.
The location is right next to 75 & 85 North, with great amenities around it. The rooms are spacious, with a wet bar, and a nice size tube. The service was very attentive, and very helpful.
If any of you guys are looking for dirt cheap hotel deals I would check out HotelRaven. Com I saved a ton of money using that site. Sooooo I was at the W Hotel today, had my car Valet Parked, when I received my car back the hood was SCRATCHED AND DENTED. No one came to notify me that my car had been damaged, and then even though it was noted on the valet card they still were going to let me pull off in hopes that I wouldn't notice. I had to fill an incident report out and I will keep you all posted on the incident. Their valet is serviced through AAA, however AAA is a representative of them while offering this service.
Beautiful hotel with very warm staff! The 27/7 room service menu needs more options and the ordering, requests, and account application on the room TV needs to be functional. A major plus would be offering specials for local events, locations, and The Bliss Spa… especially for SPG members.
I loved everything about the hotel. The manager Pablo had Excellent customer service. The wetbar was nice also the pool area my first time experiencing something like this. Thanks to.

Awful. The pool area is tiny with hardly any seating. The pool bartender was slooooow. We asked for extra pillows twice before receiving, and one of the pillow cases was used/dirty! We asked for a coffee pot three times before receiving. Our room service order was not prepared as ordered (the room service attendant was very professional and nice, which helps in frustrating situations! ), on two orders (dinner and breakfast). People were very loud in the hallway at 3am; this lasted for about 30 minutes until security finally came. The rooms are dark. The "whatever, whenever" phone operators do not live up to their name and are completely unhelpful. Etc. Etc. Etc.
The front desk was an utter waste of our time and the valet a detriment to our vehicle! The valet men cannot operate a manual vehicle! They burnt our clutch to a crisp! byheavolrevving o.
OVERPRICED! Don't bother staying here. The room we stayed in was dirty, has scratches all over the furniture and stains on the beds. Loud hallways. Only stayed for 2 days and was glad to get out of there. Maid service never came after we returned to the hotel after 3pm and had to call to get shampoo and towels. For what you get it's terribly overpriced. I've stayed at much cheaper hotels that were better.
Very fancy room with a beautiful view of the Westin, Georgia Dome and the Georgia Aquarium all in the same view. The restaurant was a bit pricey and the food was a little extravagant, but overall the hotel was awesome.
Day management decent and polite, night manager severely lacking in etiquette, bordering on plain condescending. For want of a functional internet cable, one important night of work lost. I could have checked into any other hotel in Atlanta and probably not had to deal with this idiocy. I'd dissuade professionals from staying here! She (night manager) needs to be fired.
The hotel staff was horrible from the moment we walked through the door. We were not greeted in a nice manner. We felt like we were coming into a prison instead of a hotel. The elevators were blocked off and we were asked for id and our key cards before we got on the elevator. I have stayed at the W midtown a few times in the past and they don't treat you like that over there so I found it to be very strange they were asking for id at the downtown location before boarding the elevator. We had just showed our id at the front desk for check in. Next we were told that our liquor was not allowed in the room. If I'm paying for a room I should be able to bring whatever I want in the room as long as its legal. Never had that problem at any hotel. Little did we know things were just getting started and we were targets from there. We went up to our room and was very disappointed that all of the furniture was very old looking and had scratches on it, the carpets have juice stains, the tub was filthy, and the bed had a huge brown stain. I immediately told my friends that we needed to check out and go to midtown. We decided to stay because we didn't want to carry all of our luggage back down. I reported the incident to a manager by the name of Pablo and he promised he would have someone come clean immediately but that never happened. It was my friends birthday and he started to get annoyed and felt like his birthday was ruined.
This is the darkest hotel room I've ever seen. I thought the lobby was just an exception — — like they accidentally painted everything black — — but the room was the same way — — all black — — looks like Satan's lair. Everything costs. Cranberry juice in the morning? $9. Parking $30. Coffee — terrible. Why? How can they stay in business.
This was a fantastic hotel, but what really set it apart was the gentlemen at the front desk. Will W. Showed nothing but class, and went out of his way to make sure that our anniversary was something to be remembered. Next time we are in Atlanta, we will be staying at the W.
My first time in Atlanta, and I stayed here. The staff showed exceptional hospitality, and attended to every need. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone who can afford to stay here. 5 stars for the W Atlanta Downtown.
It was very nice we was on the 56 floor beautiful view the it's was nice but you.
I was here for a convention which made the nightly room price reasonable. The good: The rooms are very nice. The shower is a little odd because it doesn't have a door on it, but it's quite fancy. Sink area is huge with nice amenities. There isn't a lot for close places to eat other than the mushroom pizza place and BLT steak. A few blocks away is Max Lagers (very nice). The bad: Nothing is super bad. Everything here is expensive, but you should expect that. I had an 8oz steak and some potatoes and it was $50. I had breakfast one day for $22 (it was yummy), and I had a yogurt, danish and 8oz diet coke for $14. Specialized drinks are perfect and delicious. And $12. The pool is awesome, but you don't realize "Wet" means Pool. It's locked. But your key opens it. That is by design. It's open 24 hours a day. There is a workout center up there too. Very very nice. Bar up there is seasonal. Closes at the end of September I believe.
I'm here for an art event on the 16th floor at the Wet Bar and the view and music is amazing this afternoon! Usually the bar downstairs at the Loving Room Lounge is better stocked but a Veev Acia Liquor is keeping me upstairs. ;).
Great location to anything going on Downtown. The rooms are modern but not too over the top. The Living Room has great drinks and you can't beat the view from the pool.
I live in Atlanta so I've never actually stayed at this W, but I manage to spend a lot of time here. Particularly at the fabulous top floor pool aka Wetbar. It is so fabulous with amazing views of the city. My favorite place to chillax on a warm Sunday.
We had a good stay. The room seemed a little bit run down but the view was breathtaking. We had a great time going to the nearby restaurants. Pool area is cool too.
