I was on a long road trip and I had to use the rest room really badly so I stopped by this Comfort Inn. I always stop at hotels for the restroom during road trips because they are much cleaner and safer than those you would find at a fast food place. Never have I had an issue before in all the years I have been doing this. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and said of course like it was no problem when I asked her if I could use her restroom. As she was pointing me in the direction of the rest room she was interrupted by Mr. Marshall Welsh Jr who stated to me that this was not a public bathroom and if I wasn't a guest at the establishment I was not going to be allowed to use it. In reply I said to him politely but this young lady was right in the middle of telling me where the restroom is and if this is your policy she does not seem to be aware of it at all. In response he stated that he was her manager and that was indeed their policy. I said ok and left. Now I am a Black woman. Was this a race issue? I can't say for sure that it was. But I cant say it wasn't either. What I can say is that I went to the Holiday Inn right next door and used the rest room with no problem at all as usual.

The gal at the front desk is awesome, remembers all guests.

The Gm Marshall is rude and condescending. Not willing to help just wants your money. I will never do business with choice hotels or Comfort in ever again.

Pleasantly surprised. The service was wonderful and everything else was as expected. The hotel is a bit older but they are working on remodeling. Wouldn't have an issue staying again.

The location is great due to the short distance we have to travel to the event's location. What we did not like at all was the musty, moldy, mildewy smell throughout the lobby, and the different floors in the hotel. Even more disappointing was the fact that the room was super outdated reeked of mold and humidity and the condition of the restroom was horrible. It was so nasty that I will not come back to this property ever again or until it has gone through a serious (100% renovation from flooring to walls, from beds, mattresses, sheets, paint, looks, I mean a full scale total and radical reconditioning of the entire structure). Don't go here unless you have no other choice.

The carpet in the whole place is very old. The first room smelled AWEFUL due to wet carpet that was not taken care of. Then was moved to another room that had a terrible leaky faucetvin the tub. The water never shut off & dripped all night.

Everything was clean and staff was very friendly, the breakfast was good. Would stay here again. Price is good room was clean the TV channels were great.

The room was excellent. Very nice and very roomy. We had a room in St Pete we went to after the Yankees/Rays game but as we were getting ready to relax I moved the pillow on the bed and there was bugs on it. Then I seen them on the lamp shade and the curtains. We got a refund and got out and ended up here. I'm so glad we stopped here.

I woke up with a series of bites in a row on my legs, arms, torso, and neck. Bed bugs. We had to quarantine our clothing, luggage, sports gear, camera bags, etc, upon arriving home. We hope our car is not infested. We were trapped in the elevator on the first floor for ten minutes in the heat with seven people. Our total weight was about 1500 pounds. Yes, we actually totaled it up. The elevator's maximum is posted at 2000 pounds. When she got us out, the desk manager said it was our fault for putting more than four people in the elevator. It's not posted, and the desk manager was rude about it. She also said we had too much luggage with us. We had none, except for my wife's purse. Our first room smelled like a bottle of aftershave was turned over on the carpet… it barely hid the cigarette smell. The same desk clerk said she could not change our rooms even with people who had not checked in yet because it was not allowed in the system. When we asked for a manager, magically she figured out how to make the system do it. Our second room smelled like carpet detergent, but we didn't bother asking for another after the hassle we got the first time around. We asked for extra towels. That, too, was impossible — against policy. She finally relented after we pointed out that we were already trapped in the elevator. Hallway carpeting is soiled and worn down, the shower not only dripped but RAN in a steady stream all night. It could not be turned off.

As I write this, I am scratching the bites from the bedbugs that infested the bed. Three bites in a row on my neck, leg, arm. That was from our SECOND room. The first one smelled like someone poured aftershave on the carpet. That was, I suspect, to cover up the smell of cigarette smoke. It didn’t work. It smelled like a smoker wearing too much aftershave. Since my kids and I are violently allergic to cigarette smoke, we got another room. That wasn’t easy: the desk clerk told us that she was not allowed to change anyone’s room even though there were scores of people who had no yet checked in yet. Magically, after we got really aggravated and politely insisted, she was able to change us after all. The second room smelled heavily of carpet soap. Better than the aftershave, anyway. On our way TO the second room, we were trapped in the only elevator in the hotel. We got on with six people and jokingly checked the weight capacity. We were nowhere near it. However, the elevator never lifted off the ground and we were trapped in there for ten minutes. Do you know how hot it gets in an elevator with six people in Florida? After the desk clerk got the door opened, she told us we had too many people on the elevator. “You can only have four. ” Well, no. The weight capacity is a heck of a lot more than four people, unless they are among the biggest people who can still walk. She then told us it was because we had too much luggage. My wife had her purse with her.

This was a very nice experience. The hotel staff were very helpful and the room was clean and neat. The shower had good pressure and wide volume spray. Breakfast provided many choices of foods and beverages that provided a great start to the day.

Clean, Friendly, burger King and Dennys next door. Would stay again! Pet friendly but $20 per night pet fee. Staff was very accommodating and aimed to please! Rooms were clean, refrig and microwave in room. Updated rooms and cookies in the lobby!

Everything was clean and staff was very friendly, the breakfast was good. Would stay here again price is good room was clean the TV channels were great but I didn't have too much time for tv.

The hotel rooms were small but nice. I had a little trouble with AC but mysteriously worked fine second night. Beds slept well. I didn't have a chance to try continental breakfast but coffee was good and there is Denny's and Burger King outside.

Check in was rather confused. No shower curtain in two of the rooms. Day personnel was helpful and pleasant, night staff not so much.

I stay here often for work everytime I'm in town. Comfortable and safe and fits the budget perfectly. I was on the first floor which I normally don't like but I can't complain and the free cookies 24/7 sweetens the deal.

Had to check out early because I physically could not breathe in the room anymore with my husband and baby. Was placed in a room where there is clearly some kind of health hazard as it is obvious carpet was ripped up and placed back down due to some kind of water damage. My husband and I could see the stains from the water damage and what does water damage lead to… mold. There was an extremely musty smell, I’m not sure how cleaning ladies go in there and think it’s okay, or anyone for that matter. I’m disgusted they would allow anyone to stay in this room (106), especially considering all accommodations in the area have been completely booked for the weekend, leaving us with no other option. I never once experienced the musty odor and breathing problems I just had to go thru at any other hotel I have stayed at. I feel robbed having to pay the same as everyone else knowing the room is pretty much uninhabitable. I panted on my way out telling an employee there, and go figure the moment I stepped outside my breathing became a lot easier. Will never return or recommend anyone to stay there.

I'm rating this a 3 because the pool was not heated, and the building was dark. However, the people and staff were friendly. The bed was amazing! Price was fair for accommodations provided.

I want to thank Mrs. Keilah at front desk for making my family and I feel so welcome upon arrival, she went above and beyond to help us out with the best price, she had fresh coffee and cookies which was perfect after a 5 hour drive, she was so friendly and always smiling, after her shift was Mr. Ken, he also is so nice and happy with a big smile. This place has great free got breakfast, very clean rooms, the beds we're so comfortable and smelled so fresh, the landscape was so pretty, the pool was clean, restaurant's and convenient store are walking distance, we couldn't ask for better. Looking for a great place to stay? This is it, you will wake up happy and rested.

The room smelled strongly of pet pee. The lobby smelled so strong of air fresheners it seemed like they were covering something. The pee smell was so bad we couldn't breathe and had to cancel our reservations.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed. Rooms were clean, however the entire hotel smelled very musty, like dirty bleach water. I don't think we would stay again.

Stay away — charged cancellation fees for irma response workers. The manager was very rude, confrontational and unforgiving. He did not care about the work being done to help Irma victims recover, only his bottom line. I reminded him that Gov Scott publicly pleaded with local hotels to be compassionate re cancellations and he didn't care. His response was, "You knew what would happen if you cancelled when you booked the rooms, didn't you? " I was appalled.

Cannot say enough good things about the staff at this hotel. They were all wonderful. We stayed here while our power was being restored after Hurricane Irma and are so glad this is where we were able to stay. Even when every room was sold out and there were a lot of kids around it was VERY quiet. I would highly recommend!

I made a delivery to this place and the people were very helpful and friendly and I didn't get to see the rooms but very clean and organized.

Could be worst. Broken elevator. Broken Jacquizi. So many dogs. Dirty pool. Rooms are clean. Housekeepers and front desk very nice. Breakfast women very sweet. Good breakfast.

Spent the night at this Comfort inn to escape from a potential flood zone from Hurricane Irma. Was able to check in with our pets with no hassles to a very kind and understanding staff. Through the stay I witnessed the staff go above and beyond to assist and accommodate so very tired and tense guests. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Would gladly stay there again. The rooms are clean and have obviously recently been remodelled. The staff is nice and helpful. The pool and surrounding area is clean. Only warning is the pool deck absorbs the intense Florida heat so wear sandals so you won't burn your feet.

The rooms were very nice and we slept great! Breakfast included a variety of items and v was well stocked.

Rooms were acceptable. Hallways were iffy, and need paint. Elevator had no ac and smelled like axle grease. Breakfast was good. Breakfast lady was super bitchy and not the least bit friendly.

Good hotel at a great price. Nicely located on the side of the freeway with plenty of fast food restaurants surrounding it. Offers a good breakfast in mornings and has a nice staff running place.

A friend attempted to book a room for herself and her service dog. She was then told by management her service animal was not in fact a service dog, and they will have to pay a pet fee. Not only is this poor management, it is ILLEGAL!

Best, most peaceful stay my family has ever had in a hotel in years. Most comfortable beds ever sleep in. Staff is the most helpful ever seen, they did everything they could to make us comfortable. Surprisingly good breakfast, not your usual hotel breakfast that you get in other hotels.

Checked in, walked into our room & beds weren't made, an aerosol can was in the bed, toilet paper wasn't changed, the list goes on. We went and waited in the lobby as they finished. We go back upstairs there is hand prints of something dark in our sheets and pillowcases, so we call and ask if they can change or sheets again. Later on we got some wine and went to sit by the pool… Oh my goodness… Towels everywhere, old food all over the tables, chairs everywhere, two poor little kitties are running around the pool. It was not enjoyable one bit. Let's go to the bathroom, hair hair hair everywhere. Towels had gross stains on them, shower held water, so I didn't get to shower. My moms feet were black from the carpet in the room. I hate complaining but this had to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. ARea is convenient but very loud at night. We even think some people live in the ppermanently. A couple was arguing at the top of their lungs most of the night a couple rooms down the hall. We checked out a day early and headed to Lakeland to the Hilton near the airport which is WONDERFUL. The lady at the front desk of the comfort Inn was nice and refunded our stay, said there was "no management" there yesterday. I'm not sure but I've worked in the hotel business before and this place needs some major help. Hope this is helpful to management and other future guest.

Cleanliness is pitiful. Toilet, bathroom floor, one nightstand, coffee table, half-wall top (suite, no less) were dirty. Room had odor that seemed a mixture of staleness, wet carpeting, and just "Motel 6. " Again, this was a suite! When coming down in the elevator the first time, a staff member was cleaning the floor of the elevator — — with a toilet brush! I asked, and she said it hadn't been used on a toilet… Water pressure was poor in shower and pooled in the tub (slow draining). Went to the workout room. No towels, belt kept slipping on treadmill so running was impossible (could only walk), and when complete with my workout, I went to get a cup of water from the water cooler — — I stopped in time… black mold/mildew was all over the spout where water left the "spigot, " and dropped into the cup… VERY POSSIBLY UNHEALTHY!

Hotel is ok. You get what you pay for. It is clean enough, but nothing spectacular. Plus is there is 24 hour coffee. Bathrooms are big. Bed is comfortable.

Stayed on the 3rd floor. Clean & roomy. Staff was professional & courteous, great location in Plant City near the freeways.

Seriously unprofessional. Had a problem with my TV the front desk clerk came up with no shoes on. Got the maintance man he came in with house slippers on shorts and a tank top with a baby on his side. And if u have dogs do not stay on the 2nd floor they will call u everytime your dog barks. The hotel is nice for the price but the staff needs alot of work and the front desk and how to look professional.

Rooms smells like mold, carpet in rooms has so much dirt and dust, don't wear white socks when in room, stains everywhere, carpet in hallways dirty food all over. Rather pay $137 dollars a night for holiday inn next door than $80 dollars for this dump.

As a frequent Choice Hotels user travelling for business, I was disappointed with the Comfort Inn in Plant City, even if it was chosen because it was the most economical option in the region. It took three room changes until I could get into a decent room where the Wi-Fi worked (only on the first floor). Of the four rooms I saw, most had a bad odor, including a musty smell from the AC unit in the room I stayed in for 2 nights. The elevator postively stank. The rooms I saw were all in general need of repair: shower rod and tub faucet loose and in need of caulking; noisy AC units; old-fashioned TVs (mine had a tube that was burning out and so half the screen was tinted green). The cleaners had not done a great job. When I walked in a lampshade was askew with mardigras beads draped on it that a previous guest had obviously left there and there were stray hairs on the bathroom floor and in the sink. The tub faucet, which was very hard to turn off and always dripped some, was practially running when I entered the room. Walking barefoot in the room, I had the impression that the carpet and tile were somewhat grimy and unclean. Because of the location off the freeway and adjacent to a gas station, a Denny's, a BK, and a Popeye's, as a woman travelling alone I did not feel safe staying on the first floor, nor when I walked out after dark to get dinner & bottled water from the gas station convenience store.

I had a HORRIBLE experience! I have never written a review before, but was compelled to warn fellow travelers. The rooms were disgusting, with stains on the carpets and looked like it had not been cleaned. The staff was very unfriendly and very unhelpful. The breakfast in the morning was not well stocked nor was it very sanitary looking. I will never stay there again! There are plenty of other hotels around there that I will try for my next visit, even it costs more. I would go as far to say it was one of the most digusting hotels I've been in.
