Clean nice quiet rooms nice.

Apparently per their policy they will not refund you even part of your money due to inclement weather. I received y flight cancellation literally 4 hours before departure for Denver. They charged me for a whole weekend that I didn’t get to even set foot in the state of Colorado for. That’s just the kind of people they are at this place. I don’t recommend it and I will never ever ever stay there. Looking at the 3.9 rating and looks of the place, they need my $90 more than I do. There’s much nicer places in Denver.

Needed better beds that don't break your back, and quieter rooms. Overall poor quality and not what was expected based on pictures and reviews on booking. Com, the place didn't provide a good rest while exploring Denver.

No A/C, very small rooms, No elevator, 100+ year old hotel and it looks every bit as old. Will not refund your money if you don't stay. Very bad choice in a place to stay the night!

I will stay here every time I visit Denver from now on. I found the accommodations to be super friendly, comfortable, affordable and central to great fun.

Had a great stay over the weekend. We stayed in a private room with an en-suite bathroom and it was perfect! A great location with tons of great food. If anything stay for torchys across the street! It’s also perfect walking distance downtown or to pick up any public transport. Very friendly staff! We will def be back!

If one wants accommodations that lacks heat, is roach infested, holes drilled in the wall invading ones privacy, rude, uncouth staff, and overall is run down and filthy, this is your choice. I would recommend any other accommodations over this. My personal experience: Yesterday, the temperature dipped to a balmy 27°, with precipitation. In my room, there was no heat, whatsoever. I complained to staff, who informed me there was nothing that could be done, and kindly offere…d me a blanket. Fast forward to today, the heat was not addressed until late in the evening the next day. Maintenance did not even come and check it. Ski-bums, businessmen, professionals, go with another option.

Loved staying in the heart of Denver at this hostel! Great staff and lots of great room type options. Can’t wait to visit again.

I often stay here on layovers… they've revamped one of the ladies dorm rooms. It's more updated. Good that they installed really large area with locks for storage. So, no need to have your things all over. The TV and refrigerator are now gone. That was a bummer. But the fresh paint and new decor was lovely. There's a fridge in the basement now, but I was only there a few hours. Never went down there. There's now a $13 deposit on the towel and key, but you do get it back as you leave. There's a corner store for snacks a few doors down. There's a burger joint across the street. Ten minute walk from Mall area.

My husband and I stay there about every 2 months to get away for the weekend. We love the place. We usually get the one room with shared bthrm but this last time we got the one with a shower. Even though when I made my reservation it said we would have a bathtub. When we checked in the receptionist said we would be getting the shower. BUUUUT the shower and room were great! The next time I hope I get the tub.

This is my first time in the States and my first hotel. I'm here to have a good time and the desk staff are very friendly and helpful. They gave me recommendations for places to go, bars and restaurants etc. My room is clean and basic, the toilets are good and clean, no worries. There's a lot of nightlife close by and you will hear music from the clubs but hey, no big deal. It's a nice place in a great location. Walk a few blocks to the 16th Street Mall — great fun and lots to see.

Parking was a bit hard to find but doable is you are patient. Bed was clean in the family suite. So was bathroom. Near clubs that are quite nice. You may encounter a homeless person or some drug addicts near the local gas station but it's part of the experience. Felt safe. Way better then the homelessness near San Francisco's budget hotels.

I enjoyed seeing the improvements made since my last visit in 2012/13. The beds were great and most of the service. The only thing that kept my experience from being the best was on my second day. A staff member came to the room I was in to tell me I had to throw my stuff away. It was upsetting because instead of having a bunch of bags like a lot of others had, I had a big box, 2 bags, a laptop back and a small cellphone repair box. I had graduated my recovery program and didn't have time to sort my things out. Most of which I was donating because I couldn't take it on the greyhound with me anyways. By the time I sorted out my things I had one traveler bag, my repair kit and laptop bag. It was rude to approach me and tell me I had to throw my stuff away because it wasn't in a lot of smaller bags. Everything fit in my locker space and under my bed which the policy says it has to… How rude and disrespectful. Whoever that older skinny guy was, needs a personality check. Besides that rude tall skinny older man, the rest of the staff and the improvements made my experience good.

We arrive one evening, we introduce ourselves to the lady of the reception who welcomes us besides evil, exasperated in front of what we ask him. Then we go to the room: without lift with luggage of 23kg. We enter the room: a bunk bed while the photos and the reservation did not stipulate it! The overall state of the room at the household level is shameful, the bathroom is worse: hairs and hair everywhere without talking about small animals that crawl on the ground. The sheets were stained with black marks. And we did not even have towels at our disposal. For the price we paid it is shameful! I strongly recommend this place!

I had a good night at the hostel. Everything was clean and working well. However, the room was always a few degrees hotter than outside, no A/C. Also the door was extremely insecure, and I had to carry my camera and ipad everywhere for fear of losing them. Once you understand that the hostel is a few minutes walk from Civic center, museums and the end of the Mall Ride, you realize what a great deal this is. Also, not enough shower rooms. The one I used had not been cleaned in some time and it was only 7 in the morning. Rooms are in the process of being upgraded, as I am sure the price will be too. Written August 2018.

The front desk staff was very welcoming and greeted us as we walked in. The lobby was very clean and seemed renovated. I stayed on the second floor with my husband. The hotel is definitely older and my room did not seem renovated. The carpet and tile looks very old school, the beds could have been a little better, and the bathroom only had a tub, not a shower. Overall, it was just what we needed to sleep, the rest of the day we were out and about. The hotel is right next to the capital in a good location, only downfall was that there were a lot of homeless people hanging around the hotel and capital, but they were harmless and keep to themselves.

Room was clean and pretty big. Needs a fridge though, and air conditioning!. Decent rates. Good location. Friendly staff. Would stay again. However, the stairs smelled like urine and there's a dubious young group of Eastern European men always hanging around. Avoid eye contact with them, and you will be fine.

At first I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and available amenities of my room, but after staying here 3 nights I would recommend staying somewhere else if possible. My room was incredibly hot, almost to the point of not being able to sleep at night. Also, I realized after a few nights of sleeping that my body was accummulating red bites all over… BED BUGS. I have never had them before so wasn't sure what they were at first, but am incredibly grossed out by the place now knowing.

What I expected out of a hostel I guess. I stayed with a few friends in our own private room. It's in a kind of "ghetto" area or it seemed that way at least. If you are looking to save some $, this would be the place to go. Parking seemed a bit rough to find around the area.

Cool retro theme. High ceilings and wide hallways make a special atmosphere. Nice large private room. Window is very nice access to fresh air. Loved the radiator, kept me toasty all night. Walls are thin, could hear guys talking next door very loud, bit annoyed by that. Shared showers are fine.

Steven was absolutely nice, but Jeff was a complete ass. He hung up on me twice when I tried to get a refund because we couldn't find any kind of free parking anywhere remotely close to the place. When it says there is parking! It took two days to get my money refunded and I felt like they were avoiding trying to do it. I didn't stay at the hotel because there was not parking available and they want to not give me a refund for it? I wasn't even in the hotel but for maybe ten minutes… I didn't even see the room.

This is an inexpensive hotel that is located in the center of many tourist sites. It is a great place to stay if you don't mind shared bathrooms and showers. I found the staff to be accommodating. They have a community room where you can cook, watch tv, use the computer, read books from their library, or just intermingle with other guests.

Great place for what it is. Can't complain. Decent staff. Cool environment. Excellent location. Good value. I def recommend it. I'd go for a private room if I brought a lady-friend with me. Bathrooms are shared but clean.

Was pleasantly surprised staying here. The location was amazing close to all nightlife. The hotel seemed well cleaned, it had a vintage feel, our bathroom had a clawfoot tub. It had an amazing atmosphere, everyone behind the desk was friendly and the make sure randoms are coming in and out of the hotel. We didn't stay hostel style, we had private everything, for the price and atmosphere it can't be beat.

The evening desk clerk could've been a lot friendlier… But, I don't think he was rude intentionally. I think maybe it's just a brisk personality type. Was initially put into a dirty room. Also, no towels or anything of that sort. It's a "hotel" and hostel… so I thought towels were a given…?

A clean and central place, you can saw museums and other places that are quite close by.

The room was dirty, the toilets and showers were out of the room.

I'm on day 1 of 5 and already don't want to be here. I'm only in Denver because my husband is admitted to Denver health and $60+ a night is WAY to much for what you get. If you have long hair get a gym membership because the water pressure is so low your hair won't even get wet. The water can not even stay the same temperature for more then 5 seconds. I could not imagine having a period in this place because you can't wash your hands before leaving the community bathroom. The bed is very uncomfortable and the sink in the room looks like it has not been cleaned since the place was built. I would just go somewhere else but they hard pulled the money out of the account for all 5 days so I'm stuck here till Friday. I can't say I expected 5 stars because of the price but I have stayed at places cheaper then this and had at least a sink in the bathroom. And to top this stay off even more my room connects to a house keeping closet and someone just opened the damn door and slammed it shut because I had a knife in my hand. To find out even more when I called the front desk they say nobody from house keeping is even here and nobody should even be in that toom, so who just gained access to my room? Got changed to another (smaller) room and the floor is disgusting with beer bottle caps all over.

We had a private room and absolutely loved our accommodations! Everything we needed at an awesome rate… I love the vintage accents and I could not get enough of our claw foot tub! Will definitely stay here again! Perfect for the laid back traveler.

Only come here if you're drunk on Broadway and can't get home for the night. Definitely not something to book for a vacation from my own experience. This place is ran very oddly, the aspect of customer service & structure here needs to be reevaluated. The manager Casper doesn't appear to care much either. They've appeared to made some type of renovations recently but still for people's hard earn money & time it needs to be ran more effectively imo.

I really liked this place. We paid a little more and got the private room instead of the dorms. It's such a cool little place to stay, and everyone there is very nice and inviting. The private rooms don't have their own bathrooms or showers, those are shared and are located down the hall but there was never anyone in there when I went. It's a bit of an old building but I found it interesting! It's very close to several bars and coffees shops, and also right across the street from the bus stop that takes you to the airport. I will definitely be staying here the next time I visit Denver!

Great place with a variety of cheap-ish room options. Didn't have to much trouble with noise though there seemed to be a club next door that provided some bass until at least midnight. Overall though we had a good experience. Staff was very pleasant and helpful to visitors.

I was hesitant to stay here given some of the bad reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! They recently went through/are going through remodels so the place is looking good. It’s pretty simple, but cheap with a great location. It can get a little noisy, but it didn’t matter much because we were going out to bars and staying out late too. Definitely a place for younger adults. I didn’t have any issues with bugs or the cleanliness of the communal bathrooms or rooms. Everything was kept up nicely. Staff was nice, helpful, and always at the front desk. There isn’t much atmosphere, but really it’s a great price for the location and just somewhere to sleep.

Great, economical and picturesque hostel in Denver.
Very close to downtown, 8 min walk and next to several bars and very cool restaurants.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We took a double room with bathroom, and we were great. 100% recommended. If I go back to Denver I repeat sure.

My 5 stars go to the housekeeper, Keke (I believe that's her name) who has done an exemplary job in maintaining a clean living area for guests. She was always respectful and worked with a smile on her face. I'm not sure what is going on behind closed doors, but I hope something would be done to retain great workers as I know 4 former employees who were excellent at their job as well. Nonetheless, I hope this establishment continues to grow. Cheers!

First off, no parking. This means that you will have to park around the corner, on the street, at the meters. But not between 2am and 6am, between those hours you will have to move. On to the actual hostel. Regardless of what it says in the name, this is a HOSTEL, not a HOTEL. The rooms were dingy and small, no air conditioning aside from a desk fan in an open window. There is a single sink in the room. Bathrooms are, get ready, COMMUNAL, with 3 toilets and 1 small shower per half of each floor. And if you DO want to use the tiny shower, the hostel charges a deposit per towel. The bed has a thin quilt, and the mattress is covered in plastic, which does not lend to a good night's sleep.

Clean, cute, and super convenient to downtown. Stayed only one night, but the poor other gal I shared the room with had trouble with another renter (drunk or high) and management dealt with it immediately and she was kicked out. They have standards! No-frills but excellent service! Be aware there's no elevator and three floors. Great value, will stay again!

I just moved in and it so very quite here, other than the street noise. It is old and run down but very clean. The front desk has been very helpful. I even get internet and TV in my room with a very spacious closet. You can even open your window for fresh air. You cannot beat the price. I would personally recommend this place to anyone who is in need of a very low budget motel, European style. Nothing fiance but it all works. You even get a personnel shower, not a group shower and a private toilet with a locked door. I am very impressed. There is also a day room with dishes, toaster, microwave and any other appliance you need. It even has a big TV for the games and a big couch to watch them on. It is like living at grandmas house. I love it here.

Neat place, stayed two nights. First room was pretty barren and was apparently how they are before being remodeled. A lot of foreigners travel through so you never know who you are going to meet, had beers with a guy named Thor from Germany! How neat! The second room was remodeled and was quite a lot better, Impressively almost. The only major draw back is the Metal Bed Frames… You'd think for a dorm you'd want to go Wood to decrease the noise as much as possible. It's a little frustrating trying to be quiet but every time you move in the bunk bed it makes decent amount of noise. Either replace them or lubricate them with WD40.

Private room was great, bathrooms left a little to be desired. Single, shared showers were usually clean, but occasionally one would get clogged and flood with an inch of water. Toilets also didn't seem to get cleaned more than once per day, kind of an issue if traveling and forced to share. Still, all around decent place to stay due to the location and price. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

Friendly staff. Clean great location… Only drawback I have is no parking other than street parking Pain in the butt parking meters. Prices are nice 66 for a private room when I was there. And they keep the street people out of the establishment… Good job 11th Ave nice to see a historic building getting a new life.

My friend and I came to Denver for our fall break and had a great time staying at 11th Ave! This is the cheapest place we found in downtown, and felt that it was well worth the money. PROS: very affordable, ideal location, friendly staff, bathrooms were cleaner than I had anticipated. CONS: some of the showers have hot water issues and the water pressure is low, no AC, the street outside can be quite loud, especially on the weekends For two college students we were not put off by any of the “cons” and would definitely stay here again!

Very cheap bare bones hotel/hostel. It's a hostel so don't expect 5 star service. Floors could be a bit quieter can hear people above you, but not a big deal. Otherwise staff is super friendly and it's centrally located.

I was here last year and it was a great experience. Especially the people who were working there. They had so much information on the best places to eat, hear music, or just visit. When I go back to Denver I'm definitely coming back here!

Definitely a good deal. Very close to all the fun stuff in downtown Denver at a good price. My room was clean and simple. A little noisey but got quiet before it was too late in the night. Hotel employees were also very friendly and helpful.

First time staying at a hostel. It has a different feel to it. Rooms are pretty basic and clean but we were only staying one night. Reminded me of college dorm room with the sink in your room and shared showers and toilets in the hallway. Location is great and right downtown!

Absolutely the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. The staff refused to refund the key deposit when we returned the key. The staff were rude and unhelpful.

Dorm room was spartan, quite old. Not exactly a social hostel, but a recreation room is present. You will have to choose between ventilation in the room or a quiet night's sleep. Overall OK value for money.

I highly advise that people stay somewhere else. My friends and I reserved a room here for Pride weekend, and the accommodations were garbage. Out of all the hostels and hotels I've ever stayed in, this is the worst experience yet. They charged us $90 a night, and I will explain why this place wasn't worth nearly that much. The building was dated and poorly-kept, we couldn't get hot water in the showers, the entire building had no air conditioning, the beds were extremely old and uncomfortable — — it felt like we were sleeping on an old, hard, springy mattress covered in plastic. The room doors seemed to lack proper security (locks were loose and the doors didn't fully latch), they charged for things like extra towels, (most of) the staff had bad attitudes and/or were confrontational. They charged us $17 per night for a cot in our room (totaling $51). We not only never received said cot, but when we asked for a $51 refund upon checkout, they gave us $5 back and they refused to refund any more than that. Per their policy (according to front desk staff), everyone who wanted to head upstairs to the rooms (guest or not) was required to produce a photo I. D. To the front desk. This was a requirement for people who even wanted to just hang out for an hour or two with friends in a room. With no exaggeration, I've never stayed in a hostel or hotel that ever enforced that in policy.

I had made a reservation for this hostel this past weekend a couple weeks ago and had a situation come up last minute where I was going to be staying with a friend instead at his much nicer hotel that was much further out of town. I had gotten to the hostel and had my bag held there to check in later but told the front desk guy about my situation and said I really needed to save money as I was especially low on funds at that point and the guy said I wouldn't be charged. Imagine my surprise a couple days later when a charge for half the stay comes in on my card! I called the hostel to ask what it was about and apparently if you cancel within 48 hours of your stay, they charge for the first night. Which is a totally understandable policy, however, I asked specifically if I would be charged and the guy said no which seems like a pretty low thing to do considering that the front desk person would supposedly know the policy. I am filing a dispute with my bank over it to whatever effect I can especially because I did not agree to the charge, and they had me place a (hilariously small $7) deposit for the reservation — at worst I thought I would be forfeiting THAT maybe, not half the stay. On the hostel itself, it's not in the greatest location aside from it being in downtown, definitely felt pretty shady being there. But a friend stayed in a private room and said it was decent. I am mainly just upset about this policy I didn't agree to nor was informed about.

My stay was as expected. The room was clean. Windows open and they provided a fan to stay cool in the room. The TV made a loud ringing noise when it was on and there was a slight smell to the building. The community rest rooms are kept very clean. I would recommend this location if you are looking for a cheap stay in Denver. Staff was super friendly and overall was a good stay.

No parking lot… That's the only think I don't like about it! U can park on the street for free at night but it could be dangerous… Other parking place are all expensive! The worker was super nice and he comes from Cleveland. We had a nice talk since I come from Ohio too lol. The location is great! In the center of danver! Very nice place!

It's a decent place for a one star hotel. But what I find discusting, is how few times per day they cleaned restrooms. Probably they clean them only once a day which is clearly not enough. 3rd floor toilet was glogged for the whole day with a nice turd floating in it. Oh and the mattresses were sealed with plastic which were making so much noise when you turn over. What the hell? Do you really have like high number of visitors who piss their beds?

Tried to stay with an Expedia booking but couldn't pay through Expedia. Did not make it past the lobby but it was definately a discount hotel from the staff and people checking in.

Going to 11th Avenue hotel and hostel was a really nice place to stay. The staff, Frank, Alison, Brittany, and Brenna were the nicest staff there. Try not to park in the back because of the private parking because Jerry will try to get your car towed. Jerry was very rude to us even though the manager Frank told us we could park there for another hour before we checked out. Frank, Brittany, and Alison were very understanding and very polite. They are the reason for this good review. Also the rooms were tidy. If you get a private bath room they only have baths not showers and if it's not too busy I suggest using the community bathrooms to save some money. Great prices for downtown Denver, and hope this helps. Try to find a close parking garage after unloading your things at the hotel. Hope this helps!

I love this place! The staff is friendly and helpful, the room is simple but VERY clean, the other guests are very amicable when you're in the common areas, and the price was decent, especially compared to other similarly priced options (i. E. Roach coaches in not-so-great parts of town. ). The shared bathroom was spotless and never occupied for long; once the Public Enemy show let out (! ) last night, the street was fairly quiet. The hotel itself was definitely quiet, as well. Aaaaand… the location is phenomenal — "City Hall" is literally two building doors down, several of the art and history museums are about two blocks up, the bus from Union Station and the airport was a straight shot (stop is across the street! ), and there are numerous places to eat, etc. Within a few blocks. The only drawback, for me, was the lack of central air conditioning, but the staff happily provided me with a fan, which resolved the issue entirely. Very happy I chose to stay here!

Have stayed here twice. Easy going staff, but very prompt to customers needs and wants. Read review earlier about bugs, I never saw any little critter, &thats staying in the same room for a week. Never a problem with anybody. L ove this place mainly for location. Walking distance from downtown. A great bike rental down the street. Great dispensaries near by. Try and get room w/private bathroom/shower, cause peck times for public ones are a waiting game. Or shower easily at odd hours. Staff at front desk actually went to extra effort to give me a better room rate. Being a world traveler I always look at hotels as a place to sleep/freshin up. There fore spending must hours of the day exploring.

The 11th Avenue Hotel & Hostel has a variety of rooms. There are dorm, occupancy 12, 6, or 4, male and female. The larger is a few dollars more and sports a common area with TV and fridge. There are also small private rooms and residency rooms for two intended for longer stays. The day staff who clean and maintain are very polite and family amongst themselves. There's Wi-Fi, a cooking area, inexpensive vending, no food service, and a laundry in the basement. The building is old, neither dilapidated nor in especially good repair. The beds are crinkly because they cover the mattresses with plastic. Remembrances of an orthodox aunt in Philadelphia, and New York City taxi cabs. The whole place has a whiff of rehab. There is no pot smoking, officially, on the premises, and no alcohol in the dorm rooms. You can expect staff to walk in the dorm rooms unannounced, though with legitimate purpose. There's a policy of tacit profiling, turning people away after a certain hour, etc. That imparts an arbitrary, uncertain air to one's stay and doesn't quite keep the riff-raff out, who in any event may be you. Yet the managers, Casper day and Nigel night, are paragons of professionalism and the 11th Ave is the cleanest, best, inexpensive solution in the downtown area.

Great location! Easy access, and even walkable access to everything downtown! Our room was a private two queen bed room with private bathroom. Perfect, cost friendly way to visit Denver downtown for New Years. Room was clean and cozy, no complaints about room or service.

The dumpy, noisy rooms were bearable (you get what you pay for) but the bed bugs and bad service were not. My bed was covered with bed bugs and I was essentially put out on the street almost without a refund. I barely got out of there with a full refund and I was also told I'd have to wait till the next morning to talk to a manager about the issue. It definitely felt like they were working against me not with me. The only ray of sunshine was the maintenance guy who immediately recognized the issue and advocated for me despite the desk staffs' incompetence. That man deserves a promotion… at a better hotel.

This was my first experience ever staying in a hostel, so I was pretty nervous, and didn't know what to expect. I have to say that I was very impressed with the hostel. All of the staff was so friendly, and very helpful! The room I was staying in was very clean. Also, the location of this hostel was very great. I highly recommend anyone that is wanting to visit Denver and needs a nice cheap place to stay, this is your place! Thank you so much 11th avenue! You were a great place to stay!
