If you stay & expect the complimentary breakfast get it in writing because when all our rooms got booked it was suppose to be including & when we got there were told it wasn't. Very disappointed!

The staff at this hotel was absolutely wonderful, from check in, to the restaurant and bar staff to check out. We had a room in the two level section over looking the pool with a balcony. The grounds were well kept and very pretty, the housekeeping staff was wonderful. But, we did have issues with our air conditioning the entire trip. The first two nights it leaked and soaked the carpet and the chair next two it. The last night there was no air conditioning at all. It completely stopped, making for a muggy, hot uncomfortable night. Also, the coffee maker did not work, I let the front desk know so they could replace it and they were extremely apologetic and offered to buy us breakfast. It was a nice surprise. We would come back, but I don’t think we’d stay in that room again.

Hotels in a great location. Just across the street from the bay and easy walking distance to Point Loma. The rate was reasonable for San Diego. However, no breakfast is included as is typical in some Holiday Inns. The rooms were nicely furnished and beds were comfortable. All in all, a very nice stay for us.

We really enjoyed staying here. There were plenty of activities and the pool was easy to get to from our room. The room was clean and large enough for all our stuff while we were there over a week. The pool was clean and good temperature. Being from Montana are liked the salt water pools especially since my kids and husband are allergic to chlorine. We had the upgrade that included the breakfast at point loma cafe and the food was amazing. The vouchers covered everything but the tip. In the 8 days we were there we only spent $64 on breakfast. Irene at the cafe is such a sweet, sweet woman and made or experience even better. The front desk staff was very kind, helpful and friendly. My only complaint is the housekeeping only spoke Spanish and I don't know any Spanish so it was hard to communicate with them. Housekeeping also came at really odd times. Those two negatives are so minor though. I would definitely go back.

Being a local, I don’t visit too many hotel bars, but I’m glad I had the chance to check it out when my friends came to visit. They had a fun selection of bar games, a great indoor and outdoor atmosphere, and Mike the bartender made our night even more amazing. It was an all around wonderful evening and I will definitely go back!

This is a very quiet hotel! Always clean and very low key. The van drivers who drop us off are always exceptionally nice and super helpful. There is a restaurant attached that is nice too! The gym is a little small but very clean. I like to stay here! And the bay is right there.

Have stayed here many times in the last 10 years and always had a wonderful experience. Love the location and rooms on the putting green have a lovely garden view and are perfect if you have kids because of the easy access to the pool. Nice patio/balcony in the older building. Nice pool/spa, restaurant and bar on site. Also love how close it is to the America's Cup Harbor. Very nice walk to see the boats and many restaurants and shops along the route. Easy routes to the major beaches and parks. Walking distance to Denny's and McDonald's so the kids are happy. Also, bartenders, restaurant wait staff and room service waiters are wondeful compared to what I have found in more expensive resort settings.

It is kind of odd to say this, but I wish I had more time to spend here. This is a pretty cool and unique hotel. Parking is kind of strange and tight if you have a big vehicle. The room was great, I really wouldn't have minded staying longer! Sadly I didn't make it to the pool, next time maybe.

This place was amazing all the way from the start. Me and my other individual stayed for 3 night. BRITTNEY was AMAZING! we went for our anniversary and she made not getting a upgrade seem like nothing. She gave us a king away from everyone which made for a really quite stay even though we were right on the street. Also she gave us some drinks on the house and breakfast for the days that we were there. This specific individual is the top of this property and whatever her boss does with her should be something like move up the chain if she is not there already. She was so kind and so nice to us it felt like home and so comfortable to stay. Way to go Brittney we really enjoyed ourselves and I think a huge part of it is because of what you did for us. The one thing we didn't get to say way THANK YOU! So much for all that you did, going above and beyond is how things make people happy. Outstanding. I could go on and on but truly exceptional service.

Parking is challenging. If you purchase the breakfast coupon, it's only good for one person, no matter how many people are in your room, though if you get a good waiter, they will honor the total dollar value, not just the person count. The hotel is made up of multiple buildings. The 2-story buildings do NOT have elevators. The room was clean. They charged a per person, per direction fee for the shuttle to the event.

The rooms are kinda old and the walls are paper thin. You can hear everything! But they do have a quiet side with signs up. It only helps if you have quiet neighbors though. You can get your parking validated at the front desk. Location is great.

This is a large property separate into multiple buildings. If newer more modern is your preference make sure you are in the building where the lobby is. If you like a traditional California cozy room super quiet, but family friendly due to the better older construction. Example you can't hear foot falls in the room above you then pick a room in the other buildings. All the rooms are great and right next to the marina with great views and food. It is a quick trip to downtown, airport, ball park, SeaWorld, and pretty much every where. The staff have been friendly and housekeeping great!

Great place. Very nice, spacious rooms. All recently refurbished. The motel part is less, so you may want to stay in the main building. Gym available 24hrs and a bar and restaurant are on the premises.

Friendly and efficient staff. Beautiful wooden blinds in the rooms. Convenient Airport Shuttle. No continental breakfast in the main building. Kids eat free in the a-la-carte breakfast.

It doesn't look like 5 star from the outside. Corporate doesn't rate itself as 5 star. However, I was without a single complaint during my 5 day stay. After receiving an upgrade (Hyatt Courtesy Card Holder perk) to a corner balcony room overlooking the marina, it was all consistently rewarding from there. The most friendly staff made every effort to accommodate with taxis and revommendations. The walkway to the open tiki style fire pit area was so choice. The outside pool is clean and beautiful with it's palm trees and big towels, chaise lounge chairs. By all means, book a room here. Ask for the side which faces the bay.

Got locked of the hotel room because the lock lost battery. Didn't get anything more than an I'm sorry as an inconvenience. The shower was terrible, the water pressure was almost non existent, and if anyone else was using water it was even worse. Room was the only one on the floor that wasn't cleaned with all the others. We were asked when we were going to leave and we told them in a few minutes and we're going out to balboa park and lunch. So when we got back to the room we had to ask for new towels and the room wasn't cleaned.

I liked this place. Nice room. Close to everything: botanical garden, old town, Coronado island, view from the coast.

Stayed in what appears to be an older part of the hotel; likely the original buildings. Room was comfortable, but nothing fancy. Staff were friendly. Breakfast included is a bit of a misnomer. You receive a coupon for $ off breakfast items in the restaurant, or free continental breakfast. Continental breakfast includes coffee, juice, and a pastry item. Not much of a breakfast, IMO. Expect to spend some $ on breakfast.

Everything was fine. But everyone my wife and I check into a hotel, we are constantly given a room in the rear of the hotel. Without. Fail. It was no different here. There wasn't close to enough cars in the parking to indicate the only vacancies would be in the waaaaaay back of the hotel. In this case, or room was in the building BEHIND the main building. Needless to say, it's starting to feel like it's because we're black. Like we HAVE to sit at the back of the bus so the white patrons can sit up front.

The service from the motel staff was very good. Shuttle service was good. Food at the restaurant was good. The only thing I thought that was sub par was condition of the room itself, there were at least 10 places in my room where the wallpaper was coming off, doesn't make you feel like you're in a 4 star motel. I would rate it as an average or below 3 star motel!

Nice location close to the airport and downtown. It's clean, the restaurant is decent. Be advised there are two parts to this hotel. The old part and the new "executive" building. The new building is nice, the old building is showing its age.

For my purposes, it doesn't get better. Your mileage may vary. We arrived by car, and got two rooms for the two couples in our group. We were in the main building. I was upgraded to a suite with patio. Very nice. The regular room was on the side with a view of the Bay. It was also nice. The room are obviously recently completely refurbished and renovated. There are plugs everywhere for recharging you devices, and the Wi-Fi worked well. For our needs, it was perfect.

This hotel is ideally located near my workplace. What’s even nicer is its location to some of the best restaurants ever! I always start the day with Better Buzzed Coffee and one of their breakfast dishes. So delish!

Holiday Inn has never let me down. Rooms clean and very comfortable, service outstanding. Room to relax 8n the lobby. No time to use the amenities, there for a marathon. Very pleasant experience.

The hotel is located in a nice area along a major intersection, easy to see from the road. The hotel was clean, and comfortable. Shower had good pressure and got as hot as I needed. I did not have a chance to visit the restaurant but there is a refrigerator in the room for leftovers. No microwave that I saw though.

It was a normal hotel and all the services I wanted, they had. The bed was very comfortable and I slept very well. They have free Wi-Fi and breakfast. Location is nice too, it's close to many sea restaurants and one of burgers.

Me and my husband went and stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon, so we could do things like the zoo and SeaWorld. I got to admit I was expecting more out of the Holiday Inn my room was kind of small I asked for a patio well they gave me a patio but I couldn't sit on my patio and have a cup of coffee and a cigarette I didn't like that I had to walk all the way out to the street to smoke which I respected their roles. I would never smoke inside the room even if you told me I could but I really wanted to be able to sit on my patio and have coffee and a cigarette in the morning. Parking was never mentioned when we checked in that we would be charged daily for it, now on the other hand they did correct a couple days for us, they did give me a microwave, I kept my own room clean as far as the bed goes it was okay it was big cuz I asked for a king but the sheets kept coming off during the night wasn't cool maybe it's time to get new sheets all in all it is a good hotel the maids gave me everything I ask for but I can't say that I would go back and stay there again.

Great location! As in other reviews, the room was a bit small, but we weren't in it for long. We came a little early to see if they could hold our bags for us, and they got us checked in early. The staff in the front were all great! Even after we checked out they held our bags for us. There were a few upkeep items (trim falling apart, patched wallpaper, etc) that could have been taken care of better, but overall it was really clean and nice. The only thing I wish we could have had was a better view, of the bay, but not a huge deal. Like I said, the location is great. Real close to SeaWorld, the zoo and has a Ralphs just down the street. Will stay again!

The rooms are cozy and the gym is one of my favorites. Staff is friendly and the shuttle drivers always go the extra mile. There's a ton of food options about a 10 minute walk away. There's also an ER not to far and if you are looking for a good walk, Trader Joe's and a Barnes and Noble is about a 4 mile walk (round trip). Safe area… I've walked it alone and with a friend. Hotel is in a great location.

Average hotel. Nothing special although the staff was friendly. The air conditioning unit made a continuous clicking noise throughout the night and I woke up with a terrible kink in my neck. I can't really blame the hotel for the pain in my neck but I didn't sleep well at all and it was a relatively uncomfortable stay. The bar/grill on site had a fantastic black & bleu burger. That was the highlight of my stay here. The bartenders there were also friendly.

This is an excellent venue with a multitude of courteous employees who will go the extra mile for the guests. Cozy beds, a pool and a putting green, not too far from many local amenities.

I love this hotel. This was my second stay here. Everything that you'd want to see in San Diego is in close proximity to it. The hotel itself has a great combination of old Holiday Inn (2 floor buildings) with two higher rise buildings. I have only stayed in the 2 floor buildings, but they're well kept with newer furniture. The view of the bay across Harbor Drive is very nice. The only complaint I could make is I wish they'd make clear that when booking a reservation, you will be paying a $12/day parking fee in addition to your lodging, if your travel to the hotel is via your own personal/rental car. Despite this, I'd still stay there again.

Our room was in an older building and was unclean, had mold and wall paper was coming off wall. The bed and rest of the hotel was wonderful. If you stay here, stay in newer part of hotel. Also was a great location across from bay but no beach which was ok with us.

The room I stayed in must have been an older room. I looked a little run down, with a AC unit that was super loud. The bed was very nice and comfortable. The TV was old and going out. The picture would suddenly turn green and unwatchable. The service at the hotel was top notch. I wouldn't expect anything less for a holiday inn's hospitality.

I had a great experience staying at Holiday Inn Bayside at San Diego. The staffs were very helpful. I love the decor in the room of the new building and how elegant the furniture are which left me the impression that this is like a four stars hotel not three stars. I especially realized how great this hotel is when I later stayed at the Marriott Marquis downtown (which is a four stars hotel). Compared to that Marriott, this Holiday Inn hotel is way much better.

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The staff showed exceptional customer service. I requested a room upgrade due to a health condition and I was placed in a great room. In addition, Nicole and the maids truly cared about their guests… service with a smile and very attentive to my requests. I will surely stay here the next time I'm in San Diego.

Location is pretty convenient to the airport, and lots of restaurants are a short walk/drive away. The hotel itself is comprised of several different buildings, and the one we stayed in — "B" — was clean and not in need of renovations. Parking isn't free, which may be because the amount of spaces they seem to have is rather low. It's a non-smoking hotel, but you'll see guests smoking outdoors in the parking lot from time to time, and our room smelled vaguely like having been both smoked in and somewhat recently having smoke eliminator spray applied inside of it. All staff we interacted with were friendly and polite.

I stayed there for 3 nights. Got to stay in a new building which is nice. Room was clean and new. Staff were nice. Not far from food (either walk to marina or liberty station). There is a free shuttle bus to the airport. The only thing I found strange is the safe. It is a vertical one.

I had my wedding reception there on February 11, 2017 and it was amazing! The staff is so helpful, especially, Carissa, she is an absolute gem! The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the room was beautiful! I highly recommend it for all couples. The suite was so beautiful and looked over the bay! If you use it ask for Carissa in catering she is the best ever!

In favor: the rooms, bathrooms and facilities are excellent.
Against: Parking costs $10 USD (should be free) and the restaurant does not offer buffet in the morning.

ME & THE "DAR" my loving beautiful "fiancé"were searching for a place to watch both the Presidential debates & S. N. F. We just finished having a "killer brunch @ Bahli Hai so all she wanted to do was to watch the debates while I watch football @ the same time. I called up to the bar & Tony answered the phone, I talked to him like he was one of my buddies & he said no problem, come on over. So we *onstar for directions which was only a half mile away. @ first we could not find the place as it was hidden from the hotel, but when I asked for directions the Congerie there walked us right to the bar & we were both very happy. The bar/lounge was big, coftable a few big hd tvs & the back was open space with a few fire pitts. I went to see if *tony would validate my parking which was $10 & he did. The Packers beat the N. Y. Giants so I was happy along with my "BRO" bruce who is a huge G. B. Packer fan. With all that said. I highly recommend this place for the atmosphere, friendliness of the patrons & staff. This hotel was pretty nice. Room size was decent just too expensive but I guess that all depends on the event that happened this weekend in SD. Room size was decent had to queen sized beds and a mini fridge. Hotel also had a pool, shuffle board and mini golf which was fun.

The hotel rooms themselves are cleanish. The girls at the front desk are a bit of a mixed bag. Some were polite and professional others were less so, all of them were relatively ineffective at responding to requests. The parking situation is rather annoying with a set of gates requiring a parket ticket to be inserted every time you wanted to leave or some back and park. Not to mention the 10 dollar a day parking charge… That system is also buggy and would not accept the ticket on more than one occasion during my stay. Another annoyance is when you put the do not disturb sign on the door, when you come back to the room you are greeted with a notice explaining that after 2 consecutive days hotel staff is required to enter the room. This is a perfectly reasonable policy, however they don't check the doors often enough and end up peppering you with these notices on any day that you hang the sign.

It was a great hotel and I feel like it was the best one yet in San Diego. The chief engineer was really helpful whenever I asked him any questions and he even directed me to my room. Overall it was a great experience.

It was a very pleasant stay. The rooms are perfect, specially if you get a view to the ocean. Very well located. The staff is very friendly and efficient. I'd stay here again.

Great hotel just outside and downtown, and seconds from the airport. Stayed in the newly constructed section of hotel 2 years ago and really loved the modern, updated feel. Was still a bit of construction going on, that did take away from the ambiance, but what you expect? Would stay here again in a heart beat.

We've only been here one night for our trip, and I'm already glad I chose Holiday Inn again for our stay. The staff was extremely helpful and enthusiastic when we checked in (even drew us a map to help navigate the tricky layout), and our room was as consistent with the Holiday Inn experience as I would expect. They are quickly building their brand with me and I feel like I'll be looking at Holiday Inns first for all my travel needs in the future.

NO complimentary coffee in the morning — are you kidding me? Stayed here because I am a Platinum Rewards member and am loyal to the IHG chain. Parking fee of $10 is not waived for platinum Rewards members — others properties have gladly waived this fee. Convenient to MCRD Recruit Depot, the airport, and downtown. No one explained at check-in that the room key must be inserted inside the room to allow power in the room to be turned on — had to find this out on my own. Parking access is awkward and tight as is the exit — a ticket is required to enter AND leave the lot.

Great hotel with tons of amenities. Some rooms don't have microwaves and you have to pay extra for parking. Also, no breakfast just 20% of your meal.

Stayed 2 weeks in beautiful San Diego. Hotel has great location and way from the daily traffic. The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. I encountered a small problem with my credit card but the staff was very understanding and supportive. Great amenities, used the gym daily. I will return to this location again…

The hotel was booked solid and we got rooms in the motel portion. They were acceptable, aside from a broken shower. We asked to get different rooms and were assigned to rooms intended for families. Those are super nice, the halls smell of lemons, and they have bunk beds.

My stay was wonderful, I stayed in the old building. My room had a beautiful view and the pool was spectacular.

We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Bayside. The room was clean with 2 large beds and a balcony overlooking the pool. The grounds and the pool were well kept. The staff members were always friendly and helpful.

Afoul and Uncomfortable Experience: On Government business for 11 days working night shift. TV broken for first three days. Reported issue, nothing done. I had to physical go to the front desk to have this fixed while I was trying to go to sleep. I had to move to a different room. Next room had mold growing in the bathroom, a/c did not work properly, was next to the floor maintenance room which was noisy slamming its door & stacking materials while I tried to sleep. I had to sleep at the foot of the bed so that my head was not next to the wall where the maintenance was done. Exercise machine was broken, told staff member nothing done. Overall theme: Staff would promise one thing and not deliver so I stopped asking.

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel, it was clean and the employees were very nice. They have a convenient store attached to the building which was very helpful. They do not have continental breakfast and there is a good reason, they have a Cafe on the lot which is excellent! You will not be disappointed it is work every penny you spend, which is not a lot!. We stayed in the newer building so I would recommend you stay in this building. Would definitely stay again.

Got put up here after we got bumped off my flight. Very bare bones accommodations. Didn't even have coffee or tea in the front lobby, much less continental breakfast. Not sure about the price, but there might be something better out there.

I've stayed here in the past and genuinely like this place. The last time I stayed, I had severe respiratory problems only while in the room. I believe this was from a mold problem in the HVAC unit or the room. After we moved out to another hotel, my symptoms went away. We moved back over to Holiday Inn later that week, but asked to stay in the newly renovated side and did not have a problem. And they make it very hard to write a review on their site.

Good hotel close to the airport and lots of good restaurants close by. I was in a recently renovated room and found the hotel really good for my needs.

We stayed here for a family reunion. When We checked in the smell was horrible. I was told by one of the managers, Keith, that there was nothing they could do but to move us to another room. So he moved us just below the room they had given us. We were moved to a room just as bad. When I opened the shower curtain I found so much black mold on the walls. I even took a video and used a towel to wipe it of. The next day I had the same manager Keith come to the room and showed him the black mold all over the shower walls and floor in the bathroom. He thought that giving us a $100.00 discount would be fine. It was not. He moved us to a room in the newer part, we were checking out in a few hours. Not good enough. I would suggest if you stay here you have to stay in the new part unless you want to sleep with black mold.

One of my favorite area hotels. I try and stay here for business whenever possible. The staff is very courteous and the rooms are clean. Shuttle service to/from the airport. They seem to give just a little EXTRA effort to make your stay here enjoyable. The cafe next door (which is part of the hotel) actually serves very good breakfasts too.

Staying there for only one night on May 10 to May 11. Before we got there, we found out that they cancelled our reservation by mistake. After spoke to several people at their customer relation office, the hotel promised to call us back but never heard from them. We had to rebook the room again ourself. Yes, the hotel is nice and new but customer service @ the front desk REALLY need to improve. We dealt with 2 different reps @ check in and check out and both were not helpful and unfriendly. Not a family friendly hotel if you travel with young children as new bay side building bathroom has no bath tub and sink is very high with no stool.

What can I say about this great place that hasn't been said? From the superb service, beautiful rooms, to a great view, this is a good hotel. I didn't have any problems whatsoever and will definitely return.
