Absolutely amazing place to stay! Great location. Walking distance to many restaurants and the lobby is a great place to hang out in as well! The cocktail cart in the evening is a great way to start the night and lounging on the couches with the nighttime lanterns they put out is a great way to close out the night. This has been the best hotel experience I have ever had! Thank you so much for making it memorable!

Fantastic property. Large luxurious lobby and well appointed rooms. Service is good but has no depth, and one gets distinct impression that service staff don’t generally care beyond doing their duties. I took a star off for loud air conditioner. Luckily it wasn’t too hot when I was there and I could turn it off at night. Would have been an issue if I had to choose between a loud air conditioner and a hot room.

Great bar. I have only visited in the evening, well after the restaurant closed. The bar is a very nice place for a drink and some really good, late night food. The bartenders are masterful l. The wait staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. The chef even came out of the kitchen to see how we were enjoying our food. Highly recommend this place.

Very nice rooms. Renovation was done 12 years ago but still feels brand new. Nice sized room and bar / restaurant was awesome. Very good guest services. Highly recommend.

This hotel is very beautiful. The rooms are nice. The rates vary, is pet friendly but parking is expensive ($49). I loved the live band in the restaurant (Grant Grill) which is also a bit pricey (bout $58-60 per person, dinner). Great location though and staff was attentive. Good hotel amenities provided. Check out is at 12pm which is nice.

This is a beautiful tour. The concierge was very informative. There is a walking tour at the front desk. Also there a Indian artifacts from the tribe that was displaced when they built the hotel. The ballrooms are amazing and the men's club still has the sign up, no women before 3pm. The Crystal ballroom is way under the first floor so don't give up!

Excellent Hotel definitely 5 Star in my book. Great bar with live music on the weekends. Be sure to shop wisely for rates. I got a great deal on my stay, but a mouth later the price was WOW! Room service was great. Room was very comfortable indeed. On my list to return again. Gaslamp Districts best!

I really enjoyed my stay. The bed was soft. The bathroom was very nicely updated with a large shower. The turn down service was unexpected, and a great touch with the candy on the pillow and soft music after a long day of conference meetings. The food and beverage selection was very good during meetings.

Very disappointing, especially for the price. Room wasn't clean with significant dust on the bathroom light fixtures and vents in the shower. Had to call twice to get a room service menu sent up, but it never arrived. Was finally able to get food ordered over the phone and delivered almost an hour later. Business center is lacking everything but the most basic services. I needed to send a scanned document via email and the only available option was for a desk clerk to take it into the back office, scan, and send. I will definitely look elsewhere when next in San Diego.

The US Grant is a very luxurious historical hotel. It has been around for over a 100 years and has been renovated not long ago. The hotel has a gorgeous lobby and spacious rooms. The exterior of the hotel can be misleading because of its simplicity but that is what makes it unique. The US Grant has a modern, cozy and classy restaurant and grill that offers a wide variety of meals. San Diego deserved to be visited at least once and the US Grant is THE hotel to pick, you won't be deceived. I am not going to talk money here :) I'll let you research that.

SUCH a beautiful hotel. My stay here was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. Staff were so friendly and helpful when I needed suggestions of what to do in the area. Room is super cozy and BRIGHT which I absolutely LOVED! The artwork within the rooms was breathtaking. I could not stop looking at the artwork.

This is San Diego history built by the son of president Ulysses S Grant! An historic hotel with beautiful public spaces. Walk through the lobby and feel the past. The restaurant has a wonderful menu and attentive staff. We've stayed in the hotel and the rooms are small but beautiful. Cost is sometimes high but you can find deals on the right weekend.

This makeover is thrilling. She has always been an old historic hotel, but now she is a beautiful luxury oasis in crazy downtown San Diego. The room was large with great amenities. The design is lush and comfortable. The colors are perfect. The bar and restaurant are packed with good libations. Spacious and classy.

Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… A very helpful employee gave our group of 4 a brochure with historical information on the hotel. As we were following the guide, another employee stepped forward and suggested that we not miss the pictures of all the famous guests. Even though we weren't paying guests, we were treated as though we were. Very special place with very exceptional employees. Thank you for your graciousness. Someday when we return to San Diego we will stay at the U. S. Grant. Love the history!

Excellent. The staff was amazing, nice friendly, Cory, Lee, Jerry, Albert, Alberto, Mr. Brooks, I wish I could remember everyone. They were very attentive to our needs. Our suite the Grant was impeccably designed and spacious. We had an issue with the valet but decided that with everything else being so awesome, it is OK not to be perfect.

Where do I begin? My husband and I wanted to end our week vacation at the beautiful and highly rated US Grant. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we had nothing but issues which I addressed with Management shortly after we returned home. When we arrived, we were not greeted. For a 5-star hotel, I expect to have someone offer to take my bags or open doors. None of this happened. (I don't want to sound snobby, but this is why we chose a hotel with this rating. ) We stood in line for check in and they told us our room was not ready. They told us to take a seat and they would grab us when it was ready. The gentleman helping us walked away and never returned. We sat for about 15 minutes before we walked up an asked if the room was ready. The new gentleman on shift had no idea we were waiting. Not a great way to start, but I'll cut them some slack. We paid more for an upgraded room, to find out it faces the park littered with homeless people. The noise from the screaming people and the traffic all night was unbearable. I asked the front desk if we could be moved and they said they were sold out and handed me ear plugs. We then went out and explored the town and came back to our room, which had not been touched by housekeeping. I called the front desk and kindly asked them if they could send someone. They apologized and said they would send someone right away. I checked on the room an hour later and nothing.

Beautiful classic hotel in the heart of downtown. The rooms are spacious by city standards with modern & luxurious furnishings. The staff are helpful, friendly and helpful and will go the extra mile to make your stay particularly memorable.

The hotel is quite nice. The price of the accommodations is really based on the historical nature of the building. The rooms are what you would expect from a restored location, nothing to write home about. The staff is wonderful to interact with; always helpful and friendly. The Grant Grill, located off the lobby, is fantastic. I was a bit disappointed that the Wi-Fi was not included in the price of the room, though. Pretty basic need, particularly for the business traveler.

It's an amazing hotel that takes no shortcuts with customer service. I only have two minor complaints. One there is no self parking only valet for 50 a night and two the rooms are a little on the small side. They are very comfortable and luxurious but definitely small for the price you pay. I would definitely stay here again.

You can tell this hotel is a historic building. There is a good vibe to this hotel from the moment you set foot into it. From the architecture outside to the luxurious inside art. The resturant inside is 5 star with amazing food. The rooms are a bit smaller side but the art work and amenities make up for it. I walked into my room with brand new slippers and luxury bath his/hers robes. The staff is very friendly and the service is awesome. Be prepared to spend $50 a day just for parking. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Comfy and quiet rooms. The best hotel service from check-in to check-out. If your company or business is looking to have a large meeting / conference then I highly recommend this location. A+ overall. It's match or competition would be the Blackhawk Hotel in Davenport, IA in my opinion.

Had several stays, and always a solid experience. Staff is very courteous, knowledgeable about the area, and try their best to provide a pleasant stay. Beds are so comfy that you can just spend whole day napping. Very clean rooms and the rest of the facilities. I always plan on trying a different place, but then… Why risk it and not go with the sure thing? Location is excellent as well, for dinner and nightlife. Btw, don't know if that's the case with the whole place (staff said it is) but my room was renovated earlier this year, so that was just a delightful surprise.

At $330+ a night this hotel is nice but has its flaws. First of all there is no parking close to the hotel that isn't ridiculously expensive. The hotel itself charges $50 per night. We parked down the street. 6 of a mile for much less. Second there is no pool. If you want to go to their sister hotel half a mile away they'll let you in (I'll pass as I'd rather not walk down the streets of SD in my bathing suit. The restaurants are nice but pricey. The rooms are not bad but with a glass door to the bathroom if one person gets up early to use the restroom it's like a spotlight on the bed in the middle of the night. Overall this was a nice looking hotel but way overpriced for what you get. I'd stay elsewhere in future.

Not a bad place, bit run down/old seeming. Wifi was difficult to connect to, mini fridge didn't work, no labels in the shower so it was hard to set the temp well, also super slippery tile in the shower. If it was a cheaper hotel it'd be fine. For the price it was not good at all.

Spent a night here, the service was nice, great spacious lobby. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Overall, a positive experience — — would recommend.

The U S Grant Hotel is fantastic. We stayed in a suite and it was luxurious The beds were super comfortable, great pillows (and plenty). The shower is larger than our bathroom at home. Lots of great towels, robes etc. The hotel is quiet, comfortable & the Hotel Staff are accommodating. We prefer the u s grant over the st regis and the ritz carlton.

The rooms were small, but very nice. This hotel had the wonderful touch of being a historic building with nicely decorated rooms. The entire staff was exceptionally polite. Room service was excellent and consistent. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

The hotel lobby and conference rooms are very nice. This is clearly an historically significant hotel, which is ornately decorated. However, the rooms leave much to be desired. My windows look out onto a run-down series of buildings. The street level noise can be loud and clearly heard through the closed windows. When I called to change rooms, I was told that the hotel was booked, but they understood my problem because they frequently get complaints about it! The room keys frequently do not work (I've had to go to the the front desk twice to re-set my key), the Wi-Fi is slow or doesn't work when transitioning between the room and the conference areas and the HV/AC does not work properly.

Visited the Grant for a social event. It's still one of the nicest looking hotels I've visited and the service was quick, attentive and kind and the event appeared to go off successfully — at least from an attendees point of view. Only qualm was the room seemed a bit cold but once I was moving around the room it didn't bother me as much than when I was just sitting down. All in all I've been to the Grant for a few events previously and have even stayed a couple times and I've always felt welcome and enjoyed visiting.

I really love DJing at the US Grant! The staff is very nice and easy to work with. This is one of the nicest historic wedding locations in town. Check it out if you want a very cool and classy venue!

The US Grant is a swanky yesteryear hotel smack in the middle of downtown San Diego. It's not exactly my style as I prefer a more modern decor, but it delivers in terms of what you'd expect from the sound of the name. Very presidential.

The staff are so great! They gave wonderful local recommendations. The rooms are beautiful and the ambiance of the hotel is magical.

One of the nicer hotels I've stayed at. SPG's boutique hotel in the heart of downtown San Diego. Walking distance to Gas Lamp and a whole lot of night life.

Parking is a pain here. The rooms and location are wonderful. Great for events.

If any of you guys are looking for dirt cheap hotel deals I would check out HotelRaven. Com I saved a ton of money using that site. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the staff was very nice and accommodating. There was a complimentary happy hour in the hotel lobby that was a very pleasant surprise. There were only two issues we had with the hotel. We had mentioned in our reservation and in person that we were celebrating an anniversary and there was not even an acknowledgement of that fact. We also spent some time waiting for our room to be ready, and we were told our bags would be right up, after two hours our bags were still not in our room, and we had to call down twice until they were finally up. Overall, good experience, just a bit more attention to detail would be appreciated.

I cancelled a reservation at a name-brand hotel down the street to reserve a room here for my wife and her girlfriend. Best move I ever made. I asked a couple of times if something could be done to make this a special romantic experience for them. Spoke to the girls this morning. This hotel knocked it out of Petco park for a grand slam home run. I don't know what the hotel did for them but it must have been amazing because the girls were blown away by the experience. The loved the room, the bathrobes, the service from the front desk and anyone with whom they crossed paths. The said the location was perfect. I'm telling you, I'm looking like the best husband in the world for arranging this. Thank you to all who made this a totally wonderful and romantic experience for the girls.

The staff are very nice and professional. The rooms are amazing and beautiful. The food is delicious (I highly recommend trying the duck! ). Also the location is amazing, you can walk all over downtown San Diego to all the shops and the fish market.

I've always wanted to stay downtown, and as a San Diego native there is usually no reason to. I finally got the chance to when a friend of mine planned her NYE wedding in East Village. We decided to treat her event as a mini-stay cation and booked it. The rooms were incredibly cozy, with wonderful high thread count sheets that gave me the best sleep ever. Hotel staff were helpful and brought our slew of luggage up without any hesitation. For the price of one night I was surprised there was only a shower stall, and I was slightly disappointed as I was planning on a bath. However the toiletries were high quality, the lobby truly stunning, and parking was a cinch. It was the perfect way to ring in the new year.

Stayed here in the event planners Suite for my anniversary. Needless to say we did not need the extra room but man I was impressed how spacious and nice this old landmark is. Many of the most influential presidents stayed at the hotel during their presidency. Ulyses S. Grant's son built the hotel and it is the only one in the world. It is a five star resorts with an excellent restaurant located in the lobby. I would recommend the scallops there. They were sublime.

Most travelers look to the skyline, then location when choosing hotel accommodations. It's hard to resist elevation and a view or small boutiques, but The Grant IS the OG hotel in SD. It's also a place most San Diegans only know for their amazing grill and lounge. From a local perspective it's a landmark, historical, architectural. You can't build them this way anymore. The history alone is unbeatable with lore and truth some museums may be interested in. 100+ years is not too shabby. The crown jewel, pride and joy, the most fabled hotel not named Del I think it behooves us to look within when looking to fully enjoy our city. All too often people from here, never experience their city from another perspective. Not gonna lie, this is one of those places you save up for and stay once a year. I spent more for accommodations for 3 nights in the Grand Deluxe than a week at a Palazzo suites. My second stay here was even more impressive with the Signature Suite. Our cost of living here is expensive and perhaps that's another reason so few of us come here, but man is it worth it. First off you see it, you see the glam, it's invigorating. Valet and bellhop are inviting and the front desk is helpful and courteous. Concierge when I first told him I live here, he was surprised, but treated me no different. Turn down service on their pillow top beds was something to look forward to. Maybe it was the thought of staycation, but they may be putting my vera wang mattress to shame.

Loved this hotel. I was in town on business and I had not stayed here before. They were highlighting my company the week I was in town and reached out to me before I arrived. They went above and beyond in every way to make sure my experience was enjoyable. This was one of the best customer service experiences I've had at any hotel in the world! Very impressed with this hotel and I will absolutely be returning next time I am in San Diego (on business or personal).
