Had a great time staying here this past October. The staff was so helpful when it came to all my questions. The restaurant down stairs was amazing and the waitress was so sweet. She told my friends and I some great spots to check out! The lobby was decorated so nicely and I loved how it flowed into the bar area. I will definitely be back!

Beautiful hotel, great ambiance and great music.

The hotel has been the worst experience I've ever had. My credit card was charge on the day of arrival for pending charge of room and incidentals. On the day checkout my room was charged again for the price of the room. Called back to speak to manager for four days no manager on duty per receptionist. No return calls just given the run around. I should have known something when the police kept showing up for unsatisfied customers. I would not recommend this hotel at all.

Great Hotel-luxurious accommodations with reasonable rates. Studio room is super cute! Concierge was helpful & nice-flight was changed and ended up at the hotel earlier than original check in-they had me checked in and in my room within an hour, which gave me time to grab something to eat.

Really fun place to stay downtown. Close to USC and the metro, very friendly staff!

The most elegant hotel I've ever had the pleasure of staying at! The front lobby is absolutely beautiful, and the bar was great as well! The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The rooms are large, with two beds, and have really nice bathrooms. The shower was especially nice! This hotel is in the heart of downtown LA, so you're staying in a really good spot if you're looking to explore the city. Five stars all the way!

Customer service at front desk by Jacqueline was horrible. Booked a double room and got a single bed. She had a nonchalant attitude and didn't care that we did not get room the we prepaid for. She simply said it was sold out and didn't even apologize. No manager on duty other than her, the front office supervisor. Our room was tiny, closet space was small, no central AC (has a window unit), bathroom is small as well with no cabinet. Poor layout and uncomfortable room. Only 1 night stand and 1 lamp. Only good thing was the comfy bed.

Simply put: they give your car to strangers and they don’t care. They just tell you we are not hold liable on this issue you can call your own insurance. Do NOT stay in this hotel. It's valet parking ONLY! After they have your car they will accidentally give your car to strangers who claim to have the parking ticket. Of course they comfort you at first when you find out, they will say whatever makes you happy and so you can leave with a smile on your face believing they will make things right for you. Eventually they will deny being responsible of losing your car and they will nicely suggest you to use your own insurance coverage. Meanwhile they will firmly suggest you to return the rental car before the agreed date, because they need to close the case and you are on your own.

A+++ most awesome place but the best artwork I've ever seen in any hotel hands down the graffiti art to the art installations everywhere and photographs what a great Vibe and amazing place to hang out. Can't wait to stay in this place again it's my favorite place to come back to and will be back soon. Great staff and management and amazing food and Cocktails.

Hotel lobby was recently renovated, it's now stunning. Check in process was quick and easy. Hallways have cool modern paintings and ambiance to it. Rooms are small but renovated and modern. Bathroom is definitely very small but doable. For the price point it's a great hotel.

Quality materials but … Cons: Bathroom was too small. Room had no drawers or anywhere to put clothes other than a couple of hangers. Colleague's room had only one chair, so for a meeting we either had to sit on the floor or on his bed. No fitness center. No restaurant. Pros: Staff was very friendly. 3rd floor is being renovated. Maybe that will have some of the standard hotel luxuries. Dining room being renovated and looks like it'll be beautiful.

The Good: The hotel room is nice and staff are friendly. We get complementary snacks daily (though I am not sure if this was because of the E3 package or not). The hotel is within reasonable walking distance from the LA Convention (roughly 0.5 miles away). The Bad: The hotel is currently under construction so many amenities such as the lobby area is closed. There aren't many food places around the hotel (a small bar/pub, some local taquerias, and a 7/11). You will likely have to leave the area for any decent food. Hotel parking is only through valet (@ $32 a night) unless you opt for street parking. The Ugly: The area is not the greatest but again you are in downtown LA. Homeless tents litter the streets around the hotel and there are plenty of transients roaming the area looking for handouts. Watch your step because you don't know what or who you will step on. Best not wander around at night.

The hotel is quaint, which is great. The renovations have turned the hotel into a pretty cool space. However, there are issues: While the location is great in terms of access to downtown, it's not great in terms of the area being a little spooky at night. At the time of staying, all amenities were under construction and therefore unavailable, which is incredibly infuriating. The rooms were also very small and had no storage. Additionally, the walls were very thin and conversations at a normal speaking level could often be heard. But the decor is fantastic and the people were nice. I want to like this place more!

Great hotel in the middle of Los Angeles. Strayed here for three days and loved the hotel. There is free wine tasting in the afternoon, which was a plus. A lot of places to eat and drink within​ walking distance. The rooms were a little​ small but that is expected in a historic​ building. The staff was friendly and the place is clean. Will stay again when I'm in the area.

Super cute! I loved the room and the staff was sweet. Had a little trouble figuring out the swanky shower but once I did it was beautiful. The view was exactly what I needed.

The room was small but not too small. A great value for the price. Very clean. Great location. There are convenience stores right next to it if you need to buy anything.

Only street parking or valet for $40 plus a night. In addition to paying for your stay up front you also have to pay a $200 deposit. It took 5 days to receive my deposit back into my account. If money is not a problem then the Mayfair is an okay option. But there are so many other hotels equivalent in price that have better services and provide a higher quality Hotel experience that I don't know why you wouldn't just go somewhere else. I doubt I will ever be back. One last thing, try calling the customer service line and prepare to wait at least 30 minutes or be redirected multiple times and put on hold for asking basic questions.

The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly. The Murphy bed made a cozy room feel spacious, and the sofa under it came in handy for a business brainstorm session couldn't tell you were in a bedroom. The hotel was under construction for renovations. They had to change my room because the thermostat didn't work, not sure the new room was better it just didn't have a way to control temp.

What a cool little hotel! Lots of personality, they are doing a great job of bringing back the vibe of it's hey day. Really nice, helpful and genuine staff. Once they finish remodeling the lobby, bar and pool, it's going to be real hot spot. Not the nicest neighborhood, but a short drive to everything downtown has to offer.

Small rooms. The location is not bad although the area does not seem so friendly.

UPDATE* Extra star added for the awesome staff. Doormen, front desk agents, and especially the maintenance guy who came to check on the A/C — they all make an effort to provide a great experience to their guests. Looking forward to seeing the final product after the renovation, which I imagine will be beautiful based on the progress so far. I really wish they hadn't cut back the trees out front but since they did, now I wish they'd completely remove the bare tree remnants. It was an odd decision to leave the trees the way they are.

AVOID THIS HOTEL! NO STARS! We had a PAID reservation through Flight Centre, upon producing my paperwork and reservation number I was told sorry mam we don't have your reservation. I asked please can you check further it's all paid for, a few lame attempts to check and nothing! I then asked could they call our Flight Center Help Number, no Mam we cant make those calls. Really UN-HELPFUL, they watched me go and sit on the floor in their lobby (as there are no chairs or tables) to try and sort out my paperwork and make calls. I then asked well can I at least check in and pay for a room for one night and then sort out the reservation in the morning. Ok. Upon producing my NAB Visa card, they said NO our system only accepts it with a PIN, so I produced my Traveller credit card with PIN, NO sorry we need a card with your name on it. These cards I had used previously at every other Hotel!? So I said ok we will pay CASH then, no MAM sorry we can't accept cash. WHAT SORT OF HOTEL IS THIS? How do they check anyone in? We left and ended up two blocks up and there was no problems with my cards or checking us in. Cab drivers told us MAYFAIR is where a lot of gang members hang out! Flight Center were awesome and gave us a refund.

Neither to advise, nor to recommend… really very mixed about this hotel. Clean even if all finishes are sloppy. We feel that the intention and the spirit go in the right direction but ultimately the final is rather average.
Staff not super friendly and not so hyper helpful… Parking and miscellaneous services overpriced… Middle District… In short away from the center to Pasadena for example, there is a way to find much better…

It is close to the center, but it all seems left to chance, mess everywhere and filth ubiquitous. Clean towels and sheets.

The place is in remodeling, to be a building with 90 years is well preserved. Small and clean rooms. Good service.

It's very cosy. A few amenities missing but those can be found around. If you are a tourist, it's an opportunity to know your neighborhood and try something new. Enjoying my stay. Very helpful and friendly staff.

One of the worst and most overpriced hotels I ever stayed in. We payed 400$ for two nights including one night valet at 40$ excluding tax. The page said parking is included but the self parking was closed and only valet available. In that part of town it was impossible to find free parking. The second night we figured out where the valet guys were parking (across the street), going to the same place as self parking costs 25$ for the night. The hotel room was tiny, the central air conditioning system was right outside of our windows so we had constant noise. No breakfast is offered. The room was not very clean, there was a used condom under the bed. The area around the hotel is not the best, I wouldn’t feel safe walking there alone or even in company at night. I can only recommend to avoid that place, anything will be better.

5 stars because I'm a returning customer. The hotel is beautiful and currently under going remodeling. Parking structure is out of order I was forced into using valet.

Rooms and hallways clean and freshly renovated. Bathrooms are small as to be expected. Very cool feel and atmosphere. Unfortunately the hotel is in a pretty bad neighborhood, parking is virtually unavailable and the hotel's valet is $44/night and service was slow when I needed to leave.

Fun to stay in this historical building for my son's 18th birthday. I can't wait to come back when the renovation is done! The staff was very nice. The rooms were clean. They are very small, but that is to be expected, it was built in 1926. They utilize the space well. Air conditioning works great. Wonderful view of downtown LA. It's hard to give a 5-star at the moment. It's just inconvenient to have to go next door to 7-Eleven if you want a snack or a drink. Let's not forget, this is Downtown LA. For the most part we felt safe. It was inconvenient that there was no parking garage available and we had to valet. Maybe for the meantime they should put some vending machines. We peeked in the window at the lobby that's being renovated. Can't wait to walk through those doors one day. It is definitely going to be gorgeous. We walked to Grand Central Market and had a fantastic day. We will be back!

Booked through Hotwire as a hot deal for $102 a night. Stayed three nights. Hotel was still under renovations to the main floor and some of the guest rooms. Two elevators were in service out of the three. Location is about a 10 minute walk to the middle of downtown LA and about a 20 minute walk to the LA Live/Staples center area. Area around hotel is a little sketchy but had no issues walking to and from downtown. Staff was nice and friendly and experienced no issues at all. Only complaints I have is the surrounding area being sketchy and the thermostats in the room have a motion sensor which limits the A/C to only being on when someone is in the room moving around. So that means at night when you are sleeping very still the A/C will go off and the room will become hot (default to 78 degree Fahrenheit). For the three nights we were there I slept on top of the comforter with barely to no cover at all. Very annoying thermostat A/C control. Besides the annoying thermostat control this is a budget friendly hotel in a decent location.

Our sales agent was travelling on business and we booked him this hotel since he had stayed there several times before. At the check in desk he was asked to make an unexpected deposit of US$600. That's right, six hundred dollars. His debit card was declined so he offered to pay with cash, to make a wire transfer or to make the payment with a different company credit card over the phone. Nick, the concierge, refused all of these options and denied him access to the lobby. Due to the time difference he had to wait for several hours on the street before he could contact anyone in the company. When he finally managed to reach us we transferred him the money immediately. He tried to pay again with the same card but Nick, the concierge, wouldn't allow it to be swiped twice in less than 24 hours. He blamed it on the hotel policy but I wonder why this wasn't told to our employee before he swiped the card for the first time. The only option we were left with was finding another hotel at 3am so he could sleep a few hours before his early morning appointment.

Extremely small rooms. Cheap mattress. The bathroom area was barely big enough to accommodate one person at a time. To be exact, it is 3 feet and six inches wide by 4 feet and 6 inches in depth, and in that small area they have shoved a small size toilet and small pedestal sink and "step in" shower. Cheap curtain on a shower rod to close off closet area. No refrigerator nor ice machine and no microwave. Overall, cheap decor, cheap bedding, no floor space, no pool, no continental breakfast, but the pillows were comfortable.

The king bed standard room was small, but perfect for what I needed. No bath tub, just shower. The hotel is going through some renovations; hence why I got such a good rate. Valet parking is a bit of a rip off at $39… especially since right across the street, you can park for $8.

One working elevator (of which it broke on day 2 or 3 during the convention for a while) was horrible. We had to wait in line for a long time to go in. The rooms were comfortable, but the bathroom was horrid. It was so tiny that turning from the toilet to the shower to the sink was a little uncomfortable. The shower was really awkward for our group, as the door was a weird wardrobe-like door. When shut, you can see a half inch space between the doors so someone could easily just look inside if they wanted to. We had to pay $20+ for parking when it's just on the street. It was pretty funny watching the valet guys running across the street, but that doesn't make me feel like it's any safer than the parking lot that was literally across the street.

Great costumer service, place was decent, comfortable beds, they worked with all of our accommodations, the view is so worth! can't wait to come back and see after the renovation! 100% would recommend!

I would like to say the rating is a zero. If you want to be treated poorly and feel really bad. This the place. We pull in there is only valet parking. You check in. Go to your room. The air is not working. You get towels that had someone else's blood. When you report all this. Oh they give you a fan. Only one elevator is working so the wait to go up or down is forever. One Ice Machine. For 14 floors. The smell in the elevator was god awful. The only pastive thing I can say is the comforters were nice and we had plenty of pillows. Never going back. Do not recommend.

I understand that the hotel is undergoing upgrades, so perhaps some of the things I have an issue with will be addressed. It would be nice to have a fridge and/or microwave available, especially seeing as there is no onsite food option. The ac/heat units in the room have no ability to be individually controlled. Also $34 for valet seems on the high side considering my vehicle is being parked on the street. A garage with valet and self park options would be great.

Nice hotel so far. The rooms are definitely using all the spaces lol, efficient room designs, enough room and beds comfy enough, it's worth a stay if you need to be downtown close (within walking distance) to the convention and Staples center. There was a ton of construction going on both at the hotel and across the street, so during the day it's a bit loud, but everything was quiet in the later hours. The customer service has been great, I get texts asking if I need anything and can text if I need something and they'll bring it to the room, or try to organize whatever your request is, and the staff have been great. Neat little personal touch. There has been some talk of cleanliness and small rooms, yes the rooms are a bit, efficient, but I think they're fine. I thought the bathroom was a closet lol. But have had no problems with cleanliness personally. If I was back in LA, and needed to stay in this area again, The Historic Mayfair Hotel would be on the list of hotels to check. I stayed here for WonderCon, and not only were the staff very accommodating to my disability, the rooms were extremely clean and beautifully renovated! Even the small bathroom that everyone seems to be complaining about, looked so awesome. It was modern meets art deco, and I loved that. It was centrally located, and there's a Lyft/Uber pick up spot around the corner. I was able to travel everywhere I needed too, and even visit the new office for the company I model for!
Yes, there was construction going on, and there were a few times that we were woken up by it (I guess the room next door to ours was being renovated), but it was fine because we needed to get out and work at a booth at WonderCon, and then we went to a taping of the Price is Right the morning after the convention, so we were very busy.
I've been recommending this place to anyone who needs a place to stay in LA. I'm coming back soon, and if I don't end up staying with friends, I may just book a room at the Mayfair again. I've paid more for smaller rooms in the past (ever try to get a hotel room in Denver during Memorial Day weekend when there's like 5 other events besides the one you're going to going on? ). The staff was super friendly, and they understood our situation with our flights getting messed up to go out there.

Rooms were nicely furnished but not clean. It was renovated in the entrance area, the elevators were need in a ro State service hatch in the ceiling was missing, very confidence. In the hallway, the same bags of trash and dirty laundry were around two days. Hotel is central though but you should not leave the main road.

It was okay. A lot of the things I have come to expect in a hotel (hair dryer, towel rack, etc) were not available in my room. The room was quite small compared to other hotel rooms, but it was comfortable enough. There were a lot of construction and renovation inside the hotel, so hopefully this means a better Mayfair Hotel in the future.

We found this hotel online, using a hotel booking app, which we have had numerous successful experiences with before. Because of our experiences, we booked the Mayfair Hotel, despite the "Under Construction" notification on the hotel website. Noise wouldn't be an issue because we were arriving late and leaving early. My wife and I arrived late Friday evening, after dinner and a show. Valet wasn't clearly marked, so we preceded to the parking structure, which was attached and managed by the Mayfair Hotel. The parking spaces were very undersized, and on a slope, so we opted to park at the top of the parking structure (to avoid door dings), which had plenty of open and flat parking. The next morning, we were awaken by the sound of construction, which we weren't too annoyed about, since we knew before hand, construction was underway. We checked out and proceeded to our car. As we approached, we noticed a piece of PVC pipe laying in front of our car (we backed into the parking space). I tossed it to the side, and thought nothing of it until I opened my wife's door, and saw the huge dent on the top of the roof and on the side of the door. We were both bewildered. We immediately notified the front desk, and called the police. The police informed us to work it out with the hotel management.

What I was told would be a newly renovated room for me to stay in was obviously unfinished. There was one light in the room and it was the hallway light. There was another light fixture hanging in a corner but there was literally nowhere to plug it in. The bathroom doors were just shutters that you pulled together for minimal privacy. There was no shower curtain. Not a single bar of soap and towels so small you couldn't even dry off your leg with them. The "closet" was a small opening with PIPES running across it with no hangers. You just have to drape your clothes over the PIPES or cram them in drawers that get stuck. The room was freezing and the heater didn't work. The front desk ignored me every time I requested assistance. When I checked in the front desk girl charged my debit card for $100 which was never returned to my bank account. When I checked out the front desk girl charged my credit card for the full amount, & I was recently made aware that she charged my credit card twice and they never caught it. I called to complain that they charged me for parking even though it was supposed to be included with my room and that's when they realized they charged my credit card twice. Everyone at this hotel was rude. One of the front desk boys was drinking a 24 ounce beer riding around in the elevators and then when he was noticed by people staying in the hotel he proceeded to continue to drink outside in the parking lot.

Rooms newly remodeled, never heard a single guest around us so not quite certain if the walls are that sturdy or we were the only ones in the floor. You can definitely hear traffic from your room, but not to the point of no sleep. Very welcoming staff, still going through remodeling in certain floors and the elevator is something to seriously fear of how old it is. Aside from that, great place to stay as many locations are very close within minutes of an uber ride.

I have No complaints the rooms: are clean, beds very comfortable. Just a bit of maintenance on the lifts and more lighting in the hallways.

I wish I could give it 0 stars. Rooms are dirty. Stained everything. Tiny uncomfortable beds. Old building. They have cardboard covering holes in the walls of the hallways. There are exposed pipes everywhere. 14$ for parking. Breakfast is extra and is not worth the price you have to pay. Windows didn't shut properly. TVs are 30 years old and don't have many Channels. Do not make the same mistake I did by giving them money. I hope less people stay here and they have to close.

While the bathrooms are tiny for a fat guy the beds were comfy and the 4 pillows were really nice. Water pressure on the 15th floor was also fairly weak but would stay again. Half the price of the nicer places and leagues nicer than the places near in price.

It would be fair to give 2, 5 stars. It's not easy to make a judgement on the Mayfair. For those who do not know, go out in the evening in Downtown LA, even (and above all) in the "financial district" is very but really very dangerous, even according to the staff of the hotel. My girl and I have come out quietly, evening of June 19, 2012, it is a miracle that they have not made us dry. Downtown is spectral, the tops of skyscrapers shrouded in fog, the temperature is low even in the middle of summer (14-15 degrees), deserted. I must admit extremely charming, a kind of real Gotham City. They prowl exclusively gangsters that make you ride around with the car and the feeling of the bullshit that you made to come out inevitably assails you… but we return to talk about the Historic Mayfair Hotel. Easily accessible. A beautiful 13-storey building with Old American-Bostonian style; The hall, beautiful and sumptuous, suggests a higher class than the actual one; The managers are Oriental, hurried but not rude. The older elevator. The rooms are nice, reflect the exterior style, cozy, very Old America, good equipment, LCD 32 ", Kettle. Being the central location it is easy to enjoy a good view of the city. Very sore note the bathroom: old and small size, tiles and accessories of 40 years ago. Clean. Free wirless connection, while the small multiplane parking is for a fee, $10 or maybe $12 per night, advisable to use it… When I return I think I will stay in Hollywood or in S.
