Runako Hostel

The staff at Runako are the best! They wanted me to have an enjoyable vacation and went above and beyond to ensure that. I felt like part of the Runako family. The breakfast and dinners were delicious. The location is very safe and convenient to transportation. I highly recommend Runako.

This is our second time here! Our group works with Arusha Technical College, so the location is perfect. The breakfast and dinner is delicious and everyone is friendly. I already miss the chapati and fresh juices we had every morning. We felt very well cared for!

Very good service, clean rooms, ready Wi-Fi, all while being affordable. Loses the one star as it was quite a hustle navigating to the location at the time we visited.

We had a large group, including students, for an extended stay. The staff made us feel very welcome and were very helpful. Food was delicious — we had both the breakfasts and dinners. Also, ask about the day trips. We had a great time visiting a coffee farm.

The rooms are basic but very clean. The staff were very friendly, they treat you like a part of their family, very helpful. They even went outside to the local place to get some drinks and food for us as they were not serving lunch. Location is a bit out of center but still easily accessible within a tukuk ride. Very nice and quiet place to stay. Highly recommended!

Runako lodge was formerly called rena lodge. I should have noticed the dubious reviews or lack thereof.
This lodge was located in some back alley with a gate. Based on its surroundings, it would be difficult to know if there was a lodge.
The reservation was booked directly through their main website. The price for the single room seemed reasonable. Initially, thought it was a good deal. Hah. After paying through their website, they didn’t send me any confirmation about my reservation. I had to email them directly and all I got was an odd reply that the room was booked.
The moment I arrived, the receptionists looked confused about my arrival even with my reservation. This one guy would take our backpacks from the car, not carrying them, and dropped it on the dirt right outside the vehicle. Not sure why he grabbed them in the first place?
Apparently, the owner of this lodge did not know what was on their website. After informing them that I reserved the room through their website, they again looked clueless that I had show to them their odd email confirmation, and then they finally proceeded to bring me to my room.
It didn’t end there. Later, they told me the initial price was a deposit. An extra 70% needed to be paid because the price was per person not per night. I would not have reserved this room if this info was disclosed in the first place. No indication of such information was mentioned about a deposit nor the cost would be per person.

I highly recommend the management and staff of the Runako. We held a large training event there, and over a for be day period we came to see the patience and willingness of this group to serve with refreshing joy and humility.
If you are looking for a great place for your team to stay, you can do no better than commit your plans into the hands of Wilfred and Janet, the owner/managers.

They gave me very warm welcome at the very start.
Since the beginning this place felt like home. People working there were super friendly, amazing and proffesional, including the owner. I could just come up to them and start conversation about just anything and likewise.
Rooms were cleaned and fresh everyday also food was FANTASTIC.
Big mosquito net above the bed did the great job protecting me from anything and it also wasn't disturbing the sleep; it was easy to put on.
Many people do not appreciate the great location. Yes it may be far from the city center but it's really calm and you do not hear any noise; it's just perfect place to relax and take break after full busy days.
I totally recommend this place if you're planning to stay in the area near arusha.
I'm already looking forward to my next stay there.

Runako Lodge is a great location especially if you want to be close to town minus the noise. It is a 5 — 10 minute walk to grab public transportation (if you are adventurous). The lodge offers great amenities, the staff is attentive and offers fantastic services! Don’t forget to check the roof top deck, it is an outstanding spot to enjoy the sunset, views of Mount Meru while sipping on a cold drink.
