I can’t recommend Freedom Inn. John and Victoria are the owners. We felt like walking ATMs for their personal use.
They are liars, crooked, and opportunistic.
Freedom Inn is a small hotel about 30 minutes car drive away from Arusha. 10 minutes car drive away from Arusha airport.
There are four rooms. The rooms are simple mostly built out of cement — even the bed mattress sits inside a cement bed frame. There is a mosquito net around the bed.
The bathroom is huge with a toilet and a simple shower with no curtain.
There is a dining room area that serves breakfast and other meals.
On the opposite side of the hotel rooms is an open air sitting area.
The Wi-Fi is extremely weak — there is NO Wi-Fi in any of the rooms. To have a chance to get any Wi-Fi one had to sit in the sitting area closest to the reception. Unfortunately, frequently there was no internet at all. Not even data internet was possible. This was highly intolerable.
Breakfast was minimal — some pieces of a fruit, hot water for instant coffee or tea, some pieces of toast, a hotdog link, some juice and two eggs. For me utterly inedible.
The location of the inn was another problem. Literally it is almost impossible to get any taxi or tuk tuk or motorcycle with any app. No one wanted to come out so far away from Arusha for a pick up.
Hence one is almost sequestered. Feeling stuck.
The best option was to walk TOWARDS Arusha to the nearest mall — about a 15 minute walk — Sable Square.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by name by one of the proprietors, Victoria. She showed me to my room and helped deliver my bags before diving into any paperwork. I appreciation this detail given we had just spend nearly the whole day either hiking or in the car. She cooked us a delicious dinner. John drove us to the airport the next morning which was only 10 minutes away. I highly recommend this spot owned by this friendly couple if you are spending time in the Arusha area prior to or following a safari or hike to Kilimanjaro.

I was there with 4 friends for 7 weeks during our teaching practise for UWCEA. The owners were super nice and received us with a big smile and assured us that if we need anything they would help, and they did. They took us to the city center, went on guided hike with us and showed us local restaurants, all to make sure we received fair treatment and price.
The room was always clean, good service all day long and decent food. Wifi is limited to the reception, but fast and reliable.
