Skeleton Beach Backpackers

The place is beautiful and right next to the beach. The staff is really friendly and made me feel at home. I stayed here for a week in the dorm. There are nice cozy shared areas and a beautiful garden. Good fresh breakfast as well, lot of options to choose from. They can help you with tours and laundry as well.

Absolutely beautifully decorated place, with kind, fun staff and delicious coffee! You can watch the most amazing sunsets, be on the beach by foot in 2 minutes, easy walk to the huge spar or food lovers market. They organise tours and are full of ideas of what to do here making the whole travel experience so easy! The Wi-Fi was slow for a few days when I was here but they explained that was across the country due to signalling and they did everything they could to fix it. It's so nice that they have a respectful quiet time of 10pm as means I could truly relax in the dorm and enjoy peace.

The room was with a terrible location unfortunately there was no door for the bathroom. I don’t think it’s a proper thing and unfortunately, there is no good ventilation and there is no good Wi-Fi in the rooms. If you are a remote worker, you have always to carry on your laptop and go to the breakfast and reception area. I didn’t like one thing about volunteers that one of the volunteers she asked me in the middle of the meeting that I should like respect the silent time as it was 10 PM and she tried to cut me while doing a meeting with one of my clients. I had to mute my mic and I told her if you want me to respect your rules you have as well to provide a good Wi-Fi, although it was not mentioned to me that after 10 PM is a quiet time and we haven’t seen this part of the policy. I think volunteers are totally detached from the staff and you can feel the energy. We also ask them for an early breakfast as we had to leave early and unfortunately, they were not also cooperative and they didn’t like that we ask for sandwiches we have canceled going early plan by coincidence but otherwise I think they wouldn’t do it for us.

This is a lovely place to stay. We enjoyed our stay here. The staffs were so welcoming, helpful and attentive to guests' needs. In particular, Charly and Ben were superb, always looked out for the best experience for their guests. Even if you don't have a list of activities to try out, just come, Charly and Ben would be your personal tour advisers on the best activities to try out each day. Infact, for their sake, I'm considering visiting Swakop again 😁.
Their guest house rooms were lovely designed with beautiful concepts.

I read a few of the negative reviews before booking and can say we did not experience anything similar. Our stay was fantastic and will definitely be back.

We had booked 2 nights to camp using our car with roof-top tent. There were no designated areas for the cars with roof-top tents which lead to lengthy discussions about where we could park, as the parking space is sparse and there were a lot of other guests with cars (including another roof-top). The manoeuvring of the car in and out was very tricky (and stressful), and required prior negotiation with the other guests to move their car a bit here and a bit there.
Since this accomodation offers the possibility of booking camping with roof-top tent, we had hoped a better organization.
Cars aside:Unaccompanied minors (that did not seem to be guests — maybe family with the staff) were sleeping in the lounge area at night (around 9 pm), which made us and other guests feel uncomfortable and discouraged us to enjoy the evening together in the lounge.
Guest kitchen was usually messy and not clean — staff should enforce better rules, so that everyone can enjoy the facilities.
Lounge area is actually pretty nice and the place has good potential, but the lack of organization made it the worse stay of our holidays in Namibia.

Me and my gf stayed here for two nights. One in a shared dorm and one in the double ensuite. Its nothing especially special but its really good value for your money. When it comes to hostels this is pretty good. Breakfast was also included, you could ask for a breakfast item off the menj every morning. And coffee and tea was always free to take. Id never dlept so peacefully in a hostel.

Rudest staff especially the front desk lady. The ‘campsite’ was a unlevel driveway. Should have slept on the beach away from that negative energy. I don’t know if her job was being paid to be on her phone because it seemed like a pain to take her away from it.

Nice place to stay a few nights in Swakopmund. All equipments are available (fully equipped kitchen, great braai area…).

Not at all safe. At 3 o clock, in the dark, someone jumped inside and tried to jump from the window inside the room. Imagine a single female in a room. He entered then inside and banged the door for 30 minutes. He tried to break the door. No security, no guard, no owner, no one was there to help. Not even the care takers came. It was horrible, horrible. My heart start pounding and it was like that I may pass out or die. Near death horrible experience. This country and this hostel is not at all safe. No one called police. I tried but they didn't pick. Saved by God Grace or my karma. Attached are window and corridor pictures.

Beach distance was great and breakfast was fine but the room was not clean, there were ants everywhere, and the linens smelled old and moldy.

Their staff are very kind and I really enjoyed my stay. We can walk to town and We can reach the beach only 2min to walf from this accommodation. Breakfast is so delicious.

We (backpacker couple) payed N$190 per person per night for our tent in the garden. Breakfast included (toast, butter, marmalade, cheddar cheese, boiled eggs, cereal, tea, coffee). Functioning kitchen and facilities working well. Wi-Fi is fast. They organize day trips to surrounding attractions. Nice volunteer staff. They even gave us extra blankets because it was cold at night — super friendly! walking distance to town is 10 to 15 min. Highly recommend this place.

As a mature woman, I enjoyed the separate and quiet room allocated to me (no 6).
The staff was friendly. The room and bathroom were clean, the bedding was clean and cozy.
I also enjoyed the privilege of having breakfast. It was easy to go for a walk along the beach as the Backpackers is well situated and close to the beach.

Hey there! This is a killer, laid-back place. Lots of chill spots. Decent kitchen. Free breakfast. Close to the beach. A short distance walking to unlimited cafes and restaurants. I spent 7 days here, and it was oh so hard to leave. Enjoy the simple life and go here.
